Me Want Donut! by schizoid2k 2024-04-23T03:08:20Z
Simple yet satisfying to play! I do wish the audio was a bit more balanced as I had to turn it way down due to the shimmering noise. Great job overall!

Simple yet satisfying to play! I do wish the audio was a bit more balanced as I had to turn it way down due to the shimmering noise. Great job overall!
Was not expecting the beat drop to happen halfway through (which made this even better)! Music was obviously a strong point and was very enjoyable. I noticed though that you can spam the arrow keys without punishment and you can still keep a full bar. Adding some type of consequence for hitting too early will definitely make people avoid exploiting that. But overall, fun entry!
This game is visually great and the dark tone is established very well. Was definitely cut off guard when I lost a finger, but the mechanics and gameplay kept me going. Very unique entry!
Pretty fun time playing for a bit. I love the giant falling bell and the fact that you can be crushed by said bell.
Wish the bees didn't spawn so sporadically around the hive as they can sometimes spawn unfortunately right near you, but I did enjoy shooting them into literal pieces
I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I thought I would! The power growth is super broken but also enjoyable. Love launching my bird at jet plane speeds to reach the end. Style is simple but satisfying. Excellent submission to the jam!
Love the art and tone of this game! I would have really enjoyed seeing more types of puzzles as the mechanic is very interesting. I agree with @lelek-hunor-kadosa and @dagunov on implementing some indicator for who is currently speaking, but other than that I enjoyed playing this. Great job!
Awesome submission! Love the power growth in this one. Very satisfying defeating the baddies and then getting a visible upgrade to my abilities.
This is a great concept and has a fantastic gameplay loop! The art is wonderful and charming, and mixes with a comedic effect when cutting down cute little merry men of the forest.
If there was anything to critic it would be having some invincibility frames as @lexi89 and @unless-games mentioned. I notice that I primarily die when I am getting swarmed and unable to get some breathing room to reevaluate the situation. You could also consider hitstops if an enemy manages to damage you if want the player to have a quick pause to strategize.
Again, amazing entry! I'm so happy I ran into this!
Definitely a great tone set for this game. Love the retro feel and I hope you get to make this in your complete vision!
I never knew I needed this, but I'm glad it came into my life.
Tough at first but man it's super fun to play. I love the game over screen and the overall wackiness. The art and even backstory is the batter on top of this tasty game.
Overall, the only thing left I have to say about this fun game: chicken.
Very fun mob spawning game! Sound and art are very solid and it was fun playing this a few more times. I think if there is any adjustment, it would be having a better healthbar indicator. I noticed it was difficult to keep track of my health/how much damage I was taking, especially when the orange ogre struck me.
Overall, this was a good time! (and glad to see a GameMaker Studio 2 entry!)
The music really set a chill tone and it was nice to decipher and guess the riddles, though it feels like there's a bit of a learning curve even with referencing the rules page. Still, a relaxing game to play and experiment!
Great idea for the theme! I agree with others that it was a bit difficult to understand the command syntax, but once I understood that I was really enjoying the game.
Although the font goes well with the aesthetic you were aiming for, I would definitely recommend finding an alternative due to some letters being difficult to distinguish (like H and X).
Thanks for the quick fun game!
Awesome abilities to play around with. I really like strategizing with the rock wall. The structure of the minigames were difficult but enough so that I was committed to beating them (especially the capture point and avoid the storm ones).
Might have been out of the scope, but I wish the push ability did a pool cue effect; if you hit one entity into another, the force from the push gets transferred to the second entity. Could make some situations more strategic.
Overall, I enjoyed the progression and fight up to the final level. Excellent job!
Definitely gonna come back to this one once there's a revision/how to play included. The graphics are very polished and appealing to show there was good effort put into this. I hope the best for you guys!
@gold-daniel thank you for letting us know about this! We have pushed a viewport bug fix and the UI should now scale properly!
And thank you all for playing!
@matt-ravenhall this is a good idea! I could maybe even shorten the pattern after 2-3 failed attempts. That way it gives the player a better chance to recover.
Thank you for the suggestion!
@sleepystudios Definitely in the works for after the jam. One of the things we wanted to include was furniture and more movement to get around said furniture. Hopefully we get it working and it feels good with the main gameplay loop!
The concept of this is intriguing and pretty original for this Jam's theme but there definitely needs some expansion. Many of the puzzles do not feel like the player engages enough to feel like they are meaningfully influencing the puzzles. There is some good brain puzzles here for sure, but there is a desire to have it be a more engaging experience and this definitely has that potential.
Direct and nice game to quickly jump into! I love the little dancing chicken egg animations as they move. Do wish there were more opposing chicken spawning s as they were pretty manageable. Overall a fun experience.
Fun game! I do agree with the others with having some consistency with the art style is desirable, but overall the game mechanics and loop are solid. I may have missed it, but I couldn't see any indicator for how much health I had left. If there isn't, that would be a great addition so players can measure how risky they can be.
Really fun! I feel like the speed of the game could be made faster such as enemy spawning. I also feel like the lightning is too reliable. I was using it 95% of the time to take out baddies.
Love the pixel art and feel for the game also!
Solid art style and love the retro soundtrack. I do wish there was more indicators for how much time is left before I need to get back to the portal, especially since returning to the portal does not guarantee a teleport back, but I do love the power grind for this and making sure I'm as efficient as possible!
It's been a while since I played a click adventure game, and the tone you set for this one was solid. When combining spells, I thought I would have to play a more difficult memory game but it did not happen. If you continue to revise this game, I think you should consider implementing more difficult memory games when casting more difficult spells.
Great job overall! It was a interesting experience!
Very unique combinations of summoning spells that had me wanting to see more levels! I love the dragon wind summon the best when stacking them. Had a bit of trouble with the slime summons, but still fun to figure out how to get to the exit!
Love the music! It set a very cozy theme with the colors you chose. Some platforming sections could benefit from more checkpoints to teleport back to and prevent the long back tracking (like the jumping section when you first go outside).
I did noticed once or twice I would speed past dialogue points but when I go back to read them they no longer appeared, but overall nothing game breaking!
I love the cat animations, they are very distinct! I do wish we had something like a spellbook to reference the key presses for summoning, but overall it's fun to explore and learn new abilities from the bosses. Good entry!
Great game! I do wish you could have the reset button as part of the general UI rather than accessing the menu every time, but this a very fun and relaxing game!
Love this game! Took a bit to figure out how to start the game with the summoning square, but once that was nailed down I was on a roll. Really enjoyed all the puzzle elements and how they're integrated into the environment. Unfortunately I started getting stuck when math got involved on level 6 so I had to look into your guide, but I greatly enjoyed learning your game mechanic throughout!
Was having a hard time trying to figure out how to play, but once I came back here and saw there was summoning buttons, I realized that the UI was off. Once I full screened, the UI fixed itself and I started having a blast! I love the art and watching my little pebble guys get to work. Although difficult at first figuring out how to play, was an enjoyable time!
I really wish there was a tutorial to give me a better foundation for how to properly summon. It's a neat mechanic, but there needs to be some guidance on what to do for the player to fully jump in and enjoy.
I do love the music, it helps set the tone for experimentation!
Also got an invincibility bug. I believe this game can greatly benefit with UI popups showing if you can interact with an object. I also noticed there's this spot in the top right that you can escape through and go to the edges of the map. Screenshot 2024-04-18 182743.png
"YIP!" "YIP!" "YIP!"
Love the retro art style with the limited green color palette! It really sets a nice tone and feel to the game especially with the music.
As others have said the combat and summoning need some more love, but it was fun to explore the world you all made.
I agree with the others. Despite being easy, I have not seen a tower defense game structured to where you gather resources like this. Definitely something to consider fleshing out and widening the scope for!
