Supprisingly good. I am just bad at it, might come back to this.

outstar 2024-04-16 09:45

Wow, this is dark, the punishment was fun! Really nicely polished assets, loved the scroll opening, all animations looked slick. My only issue was not being able to see what's written on the shards very well - I haven't find a way to zoom them or best angle to read them at (when close to you, the light falls on them and makes them slightly less fun to read then slightly further away, but then they're tiny!)

mechanicallife 2024-04-17 07:35

@outstar Thanks, that scroll was a mess to get to work! The whole reading thing was a bit poorly explained in the tutorial. If you right-click on a shard it is brought up to the camera so you can read them. We'll throw the controls in the description

Super cool presentation, I really dig the sinister vibes! I only wish the finger cutting was a bit more brutal and painful, as it is now it just nonchalantly comes off. The game itself is really neat, mixing and matching numbers is addictive. Well done!

ildfuglen 2024-04-18 18:26

Wow, I can tell you put a lot of work into this! Interesting game mechanic, and the music coupled with the art style really helped set the mood. Finger cutting was a bit grim.. :D

My only complaint is that the camera movement felt really janky when looking up and down, but fairly minor. Great job on this!

agentparsec 2024-04-18 18:28

Practically a full roguelike; would like to see a full release of this

kizilejderha 2024-04-18 18:36

I am surprised by how complete this game is, good job!

very strong inscryption vibes. Very cool atmosphere. Finger cutting could be more impactful, I wish we could see the demon we are summoning more clearly.

Individually weak items being super op when used together gives creates a fun dynamic (sometimes leads to unavoidable failure when you can't combo, but we are given 5 lives to deal with that).

vivid-hallucination 2024-04-18 18:57

Loved this. I got a little over half-way before I had to cut off my thumb. Major Inscryption vibes. Moody. Great sound and visual design. 🖤

Gameplay was a little samey, so I didn't really want to start over when I eventually died. Each level was identical, just with a higher number to reach. Some mechanical variance would go a long way.

I bought the gem to give me an extra shard each hand but I don't think it did anything.

mechanicallife 2024-04-18 19:26

@kizilejderha Yeah the hand animations where a little bit last minute, If you want to see the Demon a bit more clearly it gets closer to the table the further you get.

@vivid-hallucination Yeah some more variety would certainly help, unfortunately the whole thing got a bit overscoped in general for the team. Did you equip the Gem you bought in the pentagram? The feedback on that part is a bit dodgy.

This game feels fully polished, and I had a blast beating it! I may try challenge mode another time.

Reminds me of Inscryption, both with the vibes, and also with how much of a full game it feels even though you made it in 72 hours, and I'm very excited to see how you're planning on expanding it in the future, if there's a plan for that. I would definitely buy a full release on Steam, it's an absolute masterpiece!

Amazing game I had a lot of fun trying things, but it felt super nice to try and beat it, unfortunatly on one of my god run i got stuck in animation i don't know why here's a screenshot if it if that may help

amazing game

Inscryption vibes, I love it! Very nice entry, congratz

digitaliliad 2024-04-19 17:13

I'll be back to reach my demon quote. Thank you @mechanicallife for sharing this with me onstream. It was gross, but really good. Great job, team!

mahobear8 2024-04-20 02:43

Excellent polish

iroroi 2024-04-21 14:47

Great atmosphere, similar to Inscryption and Buckshot Roulette! Interesting and addictive game mechanics!

d3kryption 2024-04-22 05:51

I was surprised by this game's unique concept. The dark, moody atmosphere. The visuals are polished, and the animations are slick.

However, I encountered some issues with the camera movement and reading the shards but I think that might just be me!

The game offers addictive gameplay and strong Inscription vibes. With a bit more polish and clarity, this game has the potential to be a standout roguelike experience. Kudos to the team for creating such a complete game in just 72 hours!

Nice job :)

Please can you vote on my game too?

brogan-ward 2024-04-22 19:54

This game is visually great and the dark tone is established very well. Was definitely cut off guard when I lost a finger, but the mechanics and gameplay kept me going. Very unique entry!

trevor-lentz 2024-04-22 19:57

Loved the polished animations, though I could see the lines for future cuts on a couple of fingers. I think adding handcuffs to the player's arm could add some tension, kind of implying that you're being forced to play the game.

The seamless looped music helps the relaxed but dark mood. Quite impressive depth for a jam :)

pegasys 2024-04-22 20:40

Wow this game. It genuinely just feels like a finished game. I happily played that right through to the end. Graphics and sound is great, makes it super easy to just get stuck into the game. My only complaints are the chromatic aberration effect you have is a little strong, made my eyes strain a bit while trying to read text near the side of the screen. I managed to lose shards a couple times by having them fall off the screen (one of them my fault because I wanted to see what would happen if I flung it). And the last one is that there were shards with some really interesting abilities that I never got a chance to use as they needed activating and activator shards were really few and far between for me (maybe I just got unlucky), even though I bought them every chance I had.

The concept of this game and it's execution are really something else though and those are small tweaks I would make to what's already a great entry. Really amazing job guys you smashed it!

soundgnome 2024-04-23 01:25

Wow, amazing amount of content for such a short time frame, and still it all fit together well. Took me a little while to figure out what was going on (e.g. the drafting system) but made more sense the longer I played. Great work!

alzhu1 2024-04-23 02:13

This is a pretty in-depth card game, really impressive given the amount of time we had! I like the idea of these different shards and effects contributing to a summon amount, and trying to reach a target number. I guess I would've liked to see more tutorials in-game, so that I could play the game and learn while playing. As it was, I got pretty confused on what shards did what, and had to keep checking the description for the controls.

The atmosphere is really great, super dark and haunting, and the finger dismemberment was a cool touch. Nice job!

Stellar graphics, and atmosphere. In general a solid entry with much flair to interactions and almost everything working smoothly.

It did take me both a failed run and several attempts after that to fully understand the upgrades. I didn't understand that the gem-like things at the bottom were my buys. And I just thought the pulling surprise star towards me was a way to open it. Since you don't pull the selected in the star to buy it, I didn't at all understand for the longest time how to spend the last buy.

I bought the finger restore crystal as first, and I must say all finger restores are quite overpowered since they are extra lives basically. And I found a bug, I think, because you can have more than 5 fingers with these restores so that if you afterwards should loose one it just snaps right back after the cut.

There were quite a few "neighbors get get +5" and while I guess there might have been some shards that did something with their own power, it seemed to mostly make that one shard basically be worth ten more than its given value. So I didn't quite understand the strategy in that one. Equally the legendary 60 shard seemed to effectively mostly be a 30 shard (unless you actively skipped its neighbor places) and while it said -15 to neighbors at least once it for sure subtracted more than that for some reason.

In all though I enjoyed the game, though it seemed quite risk-free after I had gotten the finger gem since I mostly had 5 or more fingers on my hand. I would have played to the end, I was pretty far, but then I played a shard that should draw 2 shards and the game just didn't do that and everything just stopped.

Very solid entry! Well done.

it looks and plays so great! Nice graphics, music and sounds! Very Polished!
