Great game.
I also made a a rythm game, but a much simpler one.
I like how lives are represented as villagers. A bit dark but also funny, with all the death animations.

I'm so bad at rhythm games but it was still great xD those screams when they dying... i know i shouldn't laugh but
I missed none on the first level and then i started struggling on the second one lol. Was a cute little game, love the graphics! The clouds are cool
This game soooo much fun!! The music is wonderfully rhythmic, the rain dance is quirky, the death is unfortunate but very funny to watch.
I can't help but give it an almost perfect score... This game is so much fun! Just too bad the controls aren't WASD ><
I loved the game! But the difficulty between level 1 and level 2 (and I don't want to talk about level 3 :') ) is to much!
Nice game ! I love the punishement animation and the graphics overall, the idea is great and well executed :)
Solid game, love that, good work with theme and narrative
Hi! really cool game! incredible sound and visual design with fairly simple mechanics that mash togheter really well. Thank you!
Really well done for making a rhythm game that makes sense in such a short time. Arts & sounds are perfect too.
Fun, I love how the people represent the health and the thunder killing them. Well made!
Fun game! First level was eazy but you really didn't hold back with the second one :D
dont know but sounds were a bit quiet, I like minimalistic animations, it cool works with rythms
Haha this is so innovative I like it a lot! a minute of silence for those who perished in the process lol, the moment I heard the music of the last level I was like "hell no". it helps to rotate the keyboard vertically to match the layout on the screen though. and hey, I have the right to flex that I one the entire game without losing (minus some burned people but that's irrelevant XD). pretty cool game! I'm even more surprised you managed to make a rhythm based game that plays on the web without going out of sync every 2 seconds.

Hi! Thank you so much for all your nice and interesting comments! It helps a lot! Happy to see you had fun! You're right, the difficulty gap is really challenging and the choice of keys was also subjective, that's what worked for us  ... though I see some of you succeded to go throught without dying. Gg to you! Right to flex provided!
Looking forward to play your games!
I like it! The music is great for this kinda game. Makes it very satisfying to hit the keys
@ooboob Glade you enjoyed our game! Thanks for the feedback
Wow the last one I cannot do it it's insane! The proof of taking a simple concept with good music and graphisms it worked! Good job for all of you!
@leo-nadeau Haha the last level is really hard but with a few attempt it definitly possible. A few of our friends where able to do it! We made the choice to make it challenging for player to play a bit longer and see the potential of different difficulty possible if we had made more levels. The progression is a bit harsh for the moment
I made the game and i can barely manage to pass level 2 so i won't judge anyone who says it's to hard ! xD
Okay, wow this absolutely broke my brain. For some reason the QWER keys being in a vertical orientation on screen is destroying me. Thats it, that's the only note I have. anyway...
Full cleared the entertainer. Let's gooooooo!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lovQhrCQcFI
@100th-coin Thanks so much for the feedback and the video. Make me smile so much. Yes the QWER is because we are a Swiss team with qwertz keyboard . This will definitly be an improvement we can do. Was so much fun looking someone playing our game.
Love the art style and overall desing, great work!
I played the first level and thought, "this won't be so bad, now give me a real challenge!" Then the second level gave me a real challenge. I haven't gotten past it (I think, like others are saying, the vertical orientation threw me off) but I definitely enjoyed what I played. My personal favorite part is the win sound effect, just the right amount of cheesy despite the "collateral damage".
Well, I still haven't attempted the second level again, but I remembered you said there was an "intended feature", so I went back in after leaving my review and beat the final level with one person left. I only actually "played" for like two seconds, the rest of the time my villagers were dropping like flies. I'm sure the last one will be all right...
Wow, difficulty really picks up after the first level ;) Rhythm gameplay works fine, cool music and art. Very nice!
@100th-coin Oh man, that's insane... I think.. Yes I think - as a tribute to your hard work - we won't change the key binding. Let it stay QWER! let it continue to kill brains !
Thank youuu @noona
@jack728 Haha thanks! Yes, the vertical QWER killed my brain too, but it looked like it was very natural for many. Next rythme game we'll try to offer a key binding option.
And yes.. the level of joy after so many loss.. Happy you like it! XD ... Your last comment made me laugh so hard.. yes! Yes, that's definetly a way to play it XD
Thank you @fnelix ! Yes that's challenging, haha. We updated the description after the first feedbacks to add a warning on the difficulty of level 2 and 3
Ill admit I enjoyed it more to miss the keys than hitting them xD
Nice execution, level 2 was crazy hard.
difficulty really jumps there, but im not mad. great work!
Classic rythme game but with some neat ideas, like the lives being the villagers. It looks nice, and the audio goes well with the art to create a nice mood, good job!
The lightning! The dance poses! The screaming! Very cool!
There's something that I honestly like about the orientation of the keys not matching with the screen. Forces me to be careful. Ties my brain in a knot 😁 Cute game.
Fun game!
I love rhythm games and this one is quite difficult
Nice rhythm gameee! Though the concept of summoning rain was really unique and clever. The art was cute, I liked the poses hahaah. Music was also pretty neat. Good job y'all, keep it up!
Love rhytm-games in general, this one though is a little tricky - your keys placed horizontal, but the prompts on screen are vertical, it fries your brain at first. Anyway, it's a fun one for sure!
I liked the idea of using sequential QWERTY buttons, they are familiar and the clicking patterns were a pleasure to press. Character progression with each level and lightning bolts on missing are nice ideas.
the poor god is so mean !! love this game so much, and game feeling so good, love this life system with poeple aliave display so much,so genies .wish fore more content of this game
So fun game to play! Animation are suppper nice. Last level is hard af also, but stil good.
Also, found a funny bug - if to click outside of the game window, game will think that I have completed the level
Thank you for your game! Have a nice Jam!
Oh man! That was fun! Charming! Really a creative take on the theme.
This is probably the funniest entry I've seen so far, seeing them fail at dancing and drop like flies due to my poor rhythm game skills, great work :D
@rhewid @pe7e @locksmitharmy @yorsh @potahto @jordan-costello @djow @pusheeneiro @anderson-job-loeffler @rogue-tomato @koro-games @olddog @promzona @holysparks @conrad-etherton Thanks all for playing our game! Hope you had fun :smile:
@promzona it's a feature... :smirk: (We had put it in the description if poeple want to skip levels)
My crippling runescape addiction lead me to skip multiple levels! Had to lock in and come back. Fun game, the art is super cute and I'm a sucker for rhythm games. I wish the visuals of the gameplay elements were a little spiced up, though! More interesting sprites for the notes and more effects when you hit them would have gone a long way.
Nice game, love the visuals and the implementation. Good job!
First game I'm playing this LD55, and such a nice one! The QWER took me a while to get used to, it might be nicer to have the notes scroll vertically (I don't look that far ahead at least) - like rain drops :P I also love the villagers + lightning mechanic, and the art style is fitting. The fonts on the opening screen and between levels are very basic and too large for me, perhaps they are not loading properly?
Screenshot from 2024-04-16 18-19-00.png
How did you make the notes line up so tightly with the audio? I'm assuming you just play the audio file, do you need to actively synchronize or can you just animate the notes based on time?
@judjudson Actually we tried to add some spice to the game by adding a little shake on the notes when you succeed and a shake on the screen + flash when you lose (too subtle?). There's also more clouds as you progress through the song. Though you're right that is regardless of the success level or the number of keys you hit before a miss. Thank you for your feedback, that helps a lot :)
Thank you @suksu
@dining-philosopher Did you play in full screen or windowed? We developped on full screen and it is true the title doesn't scale down.. For the music we used the ddrywet midi asset (you can see in description). I did spy on my composer friend during the jam and.. I clearly saw him click the notes when the villagers where supposed to dance!.. I think he bind the key to a specific midi "effect" or "sound". That's 4 different drums for level one and 4 different notes for level two (two original musics he composed for this game). As for "the entertainer" at the end, he also added drums and that's what you actually have to match in that level.
@pseudonclide Well I never lost so I wouldn't know B)
But I think having more presence on the screen in general for the core gameplay elements would be good. More custom/stylized sprites for the letters coming onto the screen and something stylized for the place where they "strike." I'd never thought of it before, but I think this is why most rhythm games of this type give the player a "highway." It gives the oncoming notes a sense of fitting in with the rest of the scene, where they feel abstract in this game. I think it only really sticks out because the personality and art of the other elements is so good - the lightning when you miss a note is hilarious, and so is the sprite for a dead summoner. And the dance moves as you play are awesome, as well as the expanding sprites over the course of the game. So please don't take this as an overall negative perception - I loved your game! I just think the UI definitely could have fit in better and been flashier!
oh I also love the "heh" face when you win lol
@pseudonclide With UI elements in Unity games, you can lock them to always stay the same size by changing their Canvas Scaler component to "Scale with Screen Size," and then entering the resolution you developed the game at! LockUIScaling.png
Im always but at rythm games but somehow I was able to finish that. Really nice game!
@judjudson Oh no! Thank you very much for your comments ! They are very helpful ^^ . We coded a "dual" game, you hit or you miss, and tried to focus on this part without realizing how much the rest could elevate the game. Definitely will take this into account in our next rythme game! ;) Haha happy you liked that winning face XD
@dywanix Hehe! Well done! Glad you enjoyed it ! ^^
Great rythm game! Im not that great at it, but i agree with some of the commenters that the vertical layout broke my brain as early as level two  solid game though and great artwork/music combo
Nice game! I enjoyed the art, the music and I thought the lightning strikes is a really good way to count failures! I also struggled a bit with the keys, but managed at least to finish the first two songs. No way on the Entertainer
This was really fun and well made. If I were to give constructive criticism the menues and floating letters could be more polished. The art of the game is quite beautiful and well made, so the letters and menus fitting in more would be the cherry on top stylistically.
Absolutely great jam! Good job ❤️
Nice rhythm game. The concept is great and fits the theme well. I really like the graphics too. The difficulty curve is steep and the Entertainer proved to be a bit too difficult to me, though. Poor villagers
@wujood @nsadie @gravityflip @joniv Thank you all for your feedbacks ! Hope you had a good time playing ^^ Promise next rythme game we'll try to offer some settings to change the key bindings XD (the "Vertical QWER brain killer" may still stay as default though, who knows... ) Good points on the menus! We'll keep that in mind! Thanks for playing!
@judjudson thanks for the canvas tips ^^
Great submission! A very nice rhythm game with some good beats. also loved the games overall art style. Found it very funny having people get struck by lightning for my mistakes.
Awesome work!
Cool game, I liked it!
Really liked the game! Hope you make lots more in the future!
Funniest game I've played today, 5/5 humor for me being so bad lol.Genuinely a ton of fun. I really don't have that much to critique here. The text boxes were a bit off for the web player, but other commenters have already noted that. I think my only complaint is that it didn't have more levels! Really good job here!
This game is fire! Fun soundtrack, great tie in to the theme, inventive life counter in the villagers. Definitely my favorite submission so far!
Very cool! The music is fun and I liked how the people represent my HP. I really did not want them to die but I kinda suck lol. Level 1 was a breeze but 2 is tough! Congrats on a very solid entry.
The only very minor detail that could be improved imo is that the inputs (and ui) felt unrelated to the theme. Would be cool if they had a wooden texture and a fitting font or something.
There are few animations, but a very cool interpretation of the theme, I like the faces on the residents. The call is very interesting! And also gameplay! Cool! Like a piano! I like it!
This game is quite fun to play, rhythms are nice and art is as fun as an idea. Summoning rain is an interesting solution of the theme!
@meepster @kirass @merb1000 @falk-hoeppner @aviv-levy @vera-babchenko @ruslana Thank you so much for your comments! Glad you enjoyed the game! @aviv-levy Thanks for suggestion, good idea a wooden cartoony like texture would have been nice ^^ We'll keep that in mind for a next game :)
Nice gameplay, would be better if letters were falling down. Good game though.
Neat game! I wish it was a little easier, maybe if the key strokes caused the notes, Idk, well done!
I love this creative take on the theme! Can't say I am all too good at rhythm games, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The use of the dancing people to represent the number of lives you have was also very ingenious
I liked the connection to the theme! I also liked the synchronized dance moves of the characters.
The lightning got a good laugh out of me. The brutality of it caught me completely off guard lol
It would've been nice to see a bit more design work on the UI, or even some colours on the QWER destinations to help differentiate them.
Fun interpretation!
super fun gameplay! Like others said it's close to perfection for a game jam game! the way the theme was handled was pretty cool too. Nice game, gg
chrome_MHTvm8Gtmx.png
I beat the second level with only one villager left but the third level was too hard for me.
I really like the visuals and the gameplay is well done too. Great work!
I always wanted to play The Entertainer on piano but never succeeded.
And now... I also didn't succeed in the game :(
But very fun (and funny) game!
Really fun game! Also I don't know if this had to happen and it's correct but I leave a capture just in case xd image.png
nice gameplay! people as a health indicator is a very nice concept! controls with qwer do work very good for this!
The execution is great, the music is nice and the connection between the moves and what happens in the music is very well done. The setting and overall idea is also very fun!
@rild @alessandro2024 @bit-flipz @scottjmulligan @sobad @gabriel-bissonnette @assafl @naplz98 @julzzz @cristian-gurra Thank you all for your feedbacks! With some people enjoying the QWER key binding and others finding it just too hard, that's clear that the next game will need to have a key binding menu.. and probably also a choice between horizontal and vertical notes!
@assafl Good luck with the entertainer!! Sure you'll succeed to play it some day!(That's also a goal of mine, haha)
@naplz98 I love that sceenshot! XD
Thanks for playing, hope you enjoyed the game :)
It's raining man ARGGGHRGEHGRGRG
I REALLY TRIED TO BEAT THIS ONE but it has beaten me insted :(
Great idea, great game, much fun, but difficulty progression is INSANE. Like, is it even possible to finish it? I dunno.
Still, i'm thrilled
I like the game, however the difficulty curve is quite off. I like how you show player health via people.
Lovely idea! Had an absolute blast playing, thanks!
I like the take on the theme, but considering it's a rhythm game of sorts I think the music could have been more interesting. Good job however
It's an interesting concept, I'm not good at rhythm games but I didn't have a hard time keeping up with it and I ended up having a good time in the first level. In the second I almost threw my laptop out the window. Good job!
