LD54 — Limited Space

The Spellswapper of the Dark Forest by Tygrak 2023-10-12T19:48:13Z

Great game! Very fun and polished. One complaint is that a lot of important information is on the edge of the screen, where you can't see it because your attention is on the enemies in the center. Some important information, such as which weapon is next and if it's ready to fire, is unfortunately difficult to read. Displaying this information in the middle of the screen, or close to the player character, will make it easier to read. The cooldown system could be improved on as well. The way I understand it, the cooldown is based on the next weapon. If a strong weapon is next, you have to wait a while to use it. If a weak weapon is next, you don't have to wait long before shooting. This is sometimes annoying (I actually died because my laser took too long to load, even though I just used a weak attack which didn't help me fend off the enemies). I think the cooldown should apply after using a weapon. For example, after clearing out a lot of enemies with a strong weapon, you can afford to wait a while before shooting next. After using a weak weapon, the cooldown should be short, regardless of which weapon is next. This is just my opinion, though, and I may even be wrong about how this system works. Overall, this is a great game and I enjoyed playing it!

Hexle by TRASEVOL_DOG 2023-10-02T01:47:09Z

I've never seen this concept before! I just had one question about a certain rule. The game says that "every number must appear in each 8 digit row or column," even though there are 16 numbers. Does it just mean numbers can't repeat in a row or column, or does it mean each bit must appear in each row or column? While this rule could be a bit clearer, I found the game very enjoyable once I got the hang of it!

Which Cup Fills First by CodeChomper 2023-10-01T17:57:46Z

This is an interesting concept! I agree with some other comments that an indication of which cup you picked would be nice, as well as a screen letting you know if you won. A speed up button would help as well. Also, I was using the web version, and I noticed it got a bit laggy with a lot of water on screen. On the last level, a cup filled, but the game didn't stop. It may just be the web version, though. Other than that, this is a great game, and I enjoyed the puzzles. I managed to get 4/5 right :)

BLOCKO 2000 DELUX MEGA PULSAR BIG THING XTREME..! .. Maybe not.. .. . by INCD021 2023-10-01T18:26:34Z

Great game! These puzzles are really difficult, so I unfortunately didn't get very far. I constantly found myself thinking I had it, but getting stuck. I had a lot of fun, though! Some minor nitpicks: A level select would be nice, but not necessary. I would love to have an undo button, though. Sometimes, you just need to go back a couple moves, but the only option is to restart. Also, it would be great if you could hold the button for a while to move, so you don't have to press the same direction many times in a row. The most important feature I think is missing is a quit button! I had to ctrl-alt-del and use task manager to close the game! XD I liked it, though. Great use of theme and great puzzles!

Limited Headspace by OadT 2023-10-02T21:47:03Z

Very interesting! I couldn't get the restart button to work, but this is really innovative!

RAINBOW ROBOTS by Trifectuh 2023-10-02T19:58:34Z

Very cool! I might have noticed a bug, though. I think I accidentally threw the green weapon off the map somehow? Also, the weapon pickups don't reset when you restart or between levels, so I was stuck without a green weapon for the rest of my playthrough. I really enjoyed the concept, though!

AM4LGAM8 by Alis 2023-10-02T20:43:09Z

Cool game! I did notice some bugs, though. I think it has something to do with tiles spawning on top of others right as you move them, and it causes strange behaviors where a tile is drawn but not really there. Very interesting concept, though, and a solid entry!

Shot in the Dark by GhastlyMicrowave 2023-10-04T00:29:57Z

Neat! I unfortunately didn't get to see any of the enemies that come into your area; maybe I just wasn't good enough to last very long? Once you figure out how to hit the enemies, it's really neat, though there could be more confirmation you hit something. Also, I feel like the two radar pings could be spaced out a bit more, giving you a little more time to react and get ready to shoot. Holding the radar button is a bit annoying, and I think it could just as easily be one click, with a cooldown for using it. This way you can focus on dodging more than holding the radar button. Overall, a really great game, very unique and an interesting take on the theme.

Pocket Crypt by twopoint3 2023-10-02T21:22:58Z

Very nice! The gameplay is fun. I don't quite see how it fits the theme but it's a great game!

Petits Chats by FullSaphir 2023-10-01T18:41:58Z

Creative use of the theme! It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do, it might be good to include the controls/objective in the description. Very fun, though! Also, your cat is very cute :)

Limited Space Cart by MajoMirez 2023-10-02T20:19:52Z

Neat! Definitely an interesting take on the theme. One issue is that it's sometimes hard to tell where an object will fly after you punch it, but it doesn't hinder gameplay too much. Great entry!

Golden R.O.B by MinMag_LP 2023-10-02T21:57:25Z

Very interesting! Trying out different combinations of abilities is a unique concept, and it works well! One problem I have is with the platforming physics. I think the jump and fall is too fast, and doesn't give you time to react in the air. I think it would be improved with a slightly slower/floatier jump. Other than that, this is a really neat entry!

Oort's Orbital Postal Service by QGDev 2023-10-02T22:03:00Z

This game is fun, but you can't hit Ctrl-W without closing the tab. I'd recommend using Shift instead of Ctrl. Also, I might make the objective a bit clearer, and maybe make loading packages faster (just press a key next to the package to auto-load?) Other than that, this was really fun, and you did a great job!

Pactory by Ralian 2023-10-02T20:31:27Z

This game is hilarious! My only complaint is that it's hard to tell if an object counts as "dropped." Other than that, great game!

Walled In! by Jack728 2023-10-02T21:11:43Z

Thanks for all the great feedback! @trasevol-dog I added a post-jam version to the PICO-8 website with your recommendation!

Walled In! by Jack728 2023-10-07T13:28:30Z

Once again, thank you all for the feedback! Due to popular demand, the post jam version has been updated with an autofire feature.

Clearing space by Sevansevan 2023-10-02T01:16:41Z

Great game! I wasn't able to finish it, but I really enjoyed it!

Birds - Limited Space by Konstitutiv 2023-10-01T19:05:39Z

Nice game! The use of the theme is kind of loose, but it fits. A minor nitpick is that the one letter descriptions are not very readable at first glance. It might help if they were color coded (i.e. R+1 is the same color as the Relationship bar). I enjoyed the game, though!

LD55 — Summoning

Summoning Instructions by Yxure 2024-04-15T20:55:24Z

Great atmosphere/mood. I kind of wish you could pick up multiple items at once, but it's not that annoying. At the end, the screen just goes black and the music cuts out, which led me to wait for a bit because I wasn't sure it was over. A simple end message might be nice. Other than that, very interesting and unique.

Chess Summoner by Azathothep 2024-04-15T20:37:01Z

Really neat! I like the idea of summoning pieces to your board. I didn't end up finishing, because I wasn't sure what the goal was. Even after reading the description, what I'm doing doesn't seem to be working. Another thing, I would increase the speed of transitions between turns, or at least let the player skip them by clicking once they've read it. I did quite enjoy the concept, though, and it's certainly a unique and creative use of the theme.

Gunmancer by Joshua Weggartner 2024-04-15T20:29:00Z

The game's not loading for me. The unity loading bar gets stuck at the end. I don't know if this is a problem on my end, but I wanted to bring it to your attention just in case.

The Mage And The Assassins by 0X_VOID_X0 2024-04-15T20:02:21Z

I didn't finish it, but I like it! I think the minions could be a little more powerful, since they usually just get obliterated by the enemies immediately. Also, for a WASD and mouse game, I would've bound heal to something like E instead of H, so you wouldn't have to move your hands. Other than that, I like the concept. The thought that you can't win the fight, but simply hold them off is interesting on its own.

Dry Season by HolyPerceval 2024-04-15T20:16:26Z

I played the first level and thought, "this won't be so bad, now give me a real challenge!" Then the second level gave me a real challenge. I haven't gotten past it (I think, like others are saying, the vertical orientation threw me off) but I definitely enjoyed what I played. My personal favorite part is the win sound effect, just the right amount of cheesy despite the "collateral damage".

Dry Season by HolyPerceval 2024-04-15T20:20:13Z

Well, I still haven't attempted the second level again, but I remembered you said there was an "intended feature", so I went back in after leaving my review and beat the final level with one person left. I only actually "played" for like two seconds, the rest of the time my villagers were dropping like flies. I'm sure the last one will be all right...

Trial by Combat by Gravityflip 2024-04-15T19:50:09Z

It's nice to see a unique use of the theme. I couldn't beat the final boss, but I liked the concept. The music is probably my favorite part, I always appreciate music in game jams.

Eulerian Demons by ghettobastler 2024-04-15T19:25:47Z

This is a really neat mechanic! I like how it can get tough when there are so many shapes to be added. The only thing I'd suggest would be to make the timer more visible. Currently, the text is dark-on-dark, and it might be nice to have a warning message when the time is running low. That's really just a nitpick, though. Nice and creative concept!

Burger Ritual by meylish 2024-04-15T20:25:32Z

Hey, I can't see the link to the game. Is this supposed to be published already?

LD57 — Depths

Gnoccholini Droppotini by Dudum Lare 2025-04-19T01:32:06Z

Nice! I love the layers mechanic, and the goofy hands on the gnocchi  I'd probably move the camera a bit further down so your character is at the top of the screen; that way you could see more of the upcoming obstacles. Other than that, this is a pretty solid and enjoyable entry. Well done!

An In-Depth Documentary about Pebbles by Neon Kuroasa 2025-04-19T00:56:54Z

And here I was worried about the theme being too restrictive  Great job!

Nested by Jack728 2025-04-07T19:46:00Z

@pavlov36 The matryoshkas can't open when there's a wall in the way. I realize it's not very clear, especially since you are never told that you can move the big matryoshkas. Of course I didn't really have time to playtest

Flatline by Empyreans 2025-04-19T01:25:56Z

This game is so polished! I'm amazed. The gameplay is pretty difficult, though. While you can use adrenaline to make the tight timings easier, the moving elements are very confusing as it's impossible to know what route will result in you reaching the obstacle at the correct timing. I also wish there was a way to speed up your character, as many levels involve a lot of waiting. The story and aesthetic/mood is great, and while I'm not sure it connects to the theme very much, I don't really mind for a game like this. Great job

Lyfe – Rhythm Meets Dungeon by Hypersomnia 2025-04-19T00:47:14Z

Definitely a great art style and idea as many have said, however I honestly felt the warning time was far too short to react. It seems like you have to know the level's layout in advance to have any chance of surviving, unless you mash the buttons. I can tell a lot of effort and polish went into this, though!
