I love this game! I was so immersed in this crappy OS. Great work.

Only feedback I have is that the gameplay is a little jarring in the beginning.

velvetlobster 2022-10-03 20:45

thanks for playing @alphabetasoup we thought about adding instructions but thought it could spoil the crappy OS breaking experience lol.

aaron-smith 2022-10-03 21:03

that cow game music was a banger! Loved this. Was a blast exploring it and trying things.

cptplastic 2022-10-03 21:04

I love it great idea. Its like 1995 again.

davidbradbury 2022-10-03 21:28

Good work on the entry! I enjoyed exploring around the system looking for secrets. Good music on the cow game! I'd maybe like a hint or two more about how to get around and do things, but overall I enjoyed it.

jeanne-rossat 2022-10-04 07:40

Unfortunatly, I wasn't able to launch the Cow Game :c I was a little lost at first, I didn't really knew what to do... But the game gets really fun thanks to the promps and, somewhat competition with all the other users ! Really nice idea ! Good job~

r3d3r 2022-10-04 12:03

I adore the vintage-looking OS:D That cow game soundtrack was sick! It was fantastic. I really loved the drawing experience, however it was challenging to draw in 10 seconds xD. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

velvetlobster 2022-10-04 12:08

heey folks, thanks for all the comments, we will play your games as soon as our work day is over =) @jeanne-rossat the game was kinda random, but there are lots of easter eggs in it rarely found @r3d3r thanks, the drawing was a kinda last minute type of feature we were out of ideas lol @davidbradbury you are right, we really need to add some instructions, did not know how to do it without spoiling too much the experience of trying everything randomnly thanks for playing @aaron-smith @cptplastic

robeecodes 2022-10-04 14:15

I really love this concept, it's fun to click around and see what happens and the vintage graphics are fab! Also, in particular, I really really like the music.

I will echo what some others are saying that it would be good to have some direction. Maybe some instructions could be integrated into the gameplay via the terminal somehow?

Great work!

tao-yuanyue 2022-10-04 15:02

I really love the retro feeling and the concept. It is a crazy and fun game. I was been totally attracted when I first play the game. IDK, maybe I am a person who really like hack around, click everything and break things.lol. The design of raking is a good idea!!!

eeperdeheap 2022-10-04 15:53

I just keeping clicking stuff, it's so engaging. The music is nice. The retro feel is awesome but actually scary that Windows used to look a bit like that in the past :)

mikkyti 2022-10-04 17:47

click click click, I like it just for fun clicking))))

shrillwhip 2022-10-04 17:51

Hahah, this was quite the experience. Not sure if I found everything I could, but it was quite engaging.

sulo 2022-10-04 17:53

I think I deleted somebody's pic, sorry! Nice immersive game <3

aj-studio 2022-10-04 18:01

Overall the game is cool, so you’ve got my stars ;)

johnnysix 2022-10-04 22:18

The music is epic. Loved the minigame too! Are the high-scores persistant

tetrapteryx 2022-10-04 22:26

Super fun to explore and a very unique idea! Just seeing other people's drawings was probably my favorite part

stefan-ciobanu 2022-10-05 13:56

I liked playing around with it. The absurdity of it is hilarious, and I loved the music.

Good job!

sk-katea 2022-10-06 15:02

Good music and truly fun to play

sarah-alexa 2022-10-06 18:27

This was a weird little game! I don't really know if I managed to break anything but I had fun poking about and seeing what was what. The art on the cow game was really nice and it looked like everyone's pics was available for everyone else which is such a nice touch. I was surprised how on point the OS looked too! Feels like you did a lot here!

solah 2022-10-07 10:14

Fun idea but it's hard to understand how to break this OS, even my rm -rf /* did not work :/

I love how the game looks!

lorwon 2022-10-07 15:16

You had a really cool idea there !

I really liked your game :)

dis0rder 2022-10-07 21:18

Quite a fun OS-parody/sim !

The music was funky and still keeps playing in my head. :musical_note:

Really like the tiny drawing applet! I literally drew nearly a hundred little doodles and put most of them in the trash. :paintbrush: :recycle:

Had a fun time trying to break/exploit it. Found out you can preserve the final stroke you draw by keeping it pressed when the timer runs out and continue from there.

---

Gotta ask if you're aware of [Windows93](https://windows93.net/) ?

I think it has somewhat of a similiar vibe going on!

---

This was a nice little experience and left me smiling!

velvetlobster 2022-10-08 11:58

thanks everyone for playing, we appreciate a lot the feedback, after a busy week we are starting now to play all the games in the jam. thanks @dis0rder for the comments, and for sending us that one, I feel like someone told me about that win93 but never got to check it. I think most "exploits" are in the game you have inside of this, we just tried to put the most random stuff in there, like, there are places you can go like an office and a house with characters, lamps you can break (the lamp breaking thing I don't know exactly how to do it for that part was @jean who improvised and kept creating new hidden mechanics in there) the drawing board was a kinda last hour type of improv, it was a bit buggy so we almost gave up having it on the game. In the end we decidedd to leave it as it is and make the "bug" a part of the theme lol.

velvetlobster 2022-10-08 11:59

@solah I saw your commands there, that would be a good idea to have it respond to more commands, but currently it kinda works as a chat, as you can use it to talk to other players

velvetlobster 2022-10-08 12:02

@johnnysix oh yes the scores are persistent, the way it actually works is that we have 2 databases, one in firebase so to collect every action in realtime then every N seconds we save the persistent scores in another database so we can more easily sort and do stuff like graphs and such.

velvetlobster 2022-10-08 12:03

@sulo lol yes the deletion is also another achievement and there is a score for who deles most pictures lolol

freerunner 2022-10-11 13:39

So weird, nostalgic and traumatising at the same time :) Its very well set up, runs smoothly and is just as one would expect, horrible to work with ( I mean that in a good way) Its very retro and the good times of 3.11 come to mind. Sound and graphics are well made, they fit the game very well. Im more curious about the unfinished game on the desktop. I would love to play more, but it crashes every 10 seconds or so :)

satacat 2022-10-11 23:47

nice little computer experience – brings you to the past :) looks more like a performance rather then a game, but i liked it! music was a good addition to the mood. good job!
