LD51 — Every 10 seconds

The Cult of the Ancient One by someone 2022-10-12T10:56:33Z

I choose to read IT as IT(department) :)

Swamp Dojo by Yngvarr 2022-10-06T19:41:51Z

Super well executed, runs well in safari. Sounds are spot on, the animations are great and when you loose your frog looks beaten with a sense of humor. It works very well. Audio; music is fitting, the fx leaves the player wanting a little more diversity, however in the time given, they are very fitting.

An Average Day At The Cat Cafe by alexrose 2022-10-10T09:00:29Z

I played the game on macOS and the client works flawlessly. I love the mood and atmosphere in the game, the funny characters who enter the cafe at a steady pace. However I got pretty stressed out quickly, because I was unable to fulfil any orders, perhaps a pictogram of which ingredients go in where and when would make things easier. I love the audio and visuals, and the time of day together with the ligning was very well done, super atmospheric. I would love to try this again :)

10 Second Dojo by Secretmapper 2022-10-06T06:35:21Z

Very straight forward no nonsense. I like the mechanics. How you made the ai aware of an imminent attack works very well. Also bleeding limbs, gotta have plus points for the gore factor ::D Well executed

Impending Doom of a Thousand Kitties by RalfZ 2022-10-06T19:28:11Z

First, well executed game, beautiful pixel art, I adore the kittens, and the animations.

Second, well placed game poster (image) Kittens and html5, its clever and it works, well done :)

Third.. kittens, so many, very cute. Left to be desired more diversity in the kittehs, where is tabby, orangy and blackie :)

Overall very well thought through, well made and executed. Runs find in Safari browser.

retry10 by kuggenhoffen 2022-10-05T20:35:26Z

Very nice game, love the puzzle elements. I had a little difficulty with movement, although that might just have been my browser. I like the time element that makes you have to plan your actions almost like a turn based game. Its very well executed :)

Résumé by croze 2022-10-10T13:57:49Z

A very good idea, its clever. Im fan of the simple "back to ms-office pre-2000" graphics, almost expected the paper-clip fella to show up. He should have, always wanted to bend his wires :D Background music was fitting, its almost like elevator music, the sound fx when letters pop, its a little annoying to be honest, but hey, that's just me :) I really like the overall theme and implementation, its very original.

Celestial Survivors by candlesan 2022-10-10T13:47:01Z

Wow, really great game, so much arcade retro feel, but with the aesthetics of a modern game engine. Super coordinated, sound, animations movement, its almost like a dance. Very well executed. So far best game I played, hands down (sorry to everyone else) This is high-end quality.

Only grudge I have, when you are hit, the sound it makes is really annoying. Of course its ment to be but it triggers my old school "oh no its gonna crash" reflex somewhat :)

Everything runs super smoothly in the browser. Would definitely recommend using a mouse not a touchpad, my finger is weird sore from that haha.

Time Loop Traffic by _for_science 2022-10-10T08:45:12Z

This game is both well executed, original and addictive. Also very well polished. Should you add on this, I would like to see pedestrians, although that might be a bloodbath of olympic dimensions.

Audio and visuals are very well rounded. Runs smoothly in safari.

Glitch Quest by velvetlobster 2022-10-11T13:39:24Z

So weird, nostalgic and traumatising at the same time :) Its very well set up, runs smoothly and is just as one would expect, horrible to work with ( I mean that in a good way) Its very retro and the good times of 3.11 come to mind. Sound and graphics are well made, they fit the game very well. Im more curious about the unfinished game on the desktop. I would love to play more, but it crashes every 10 seconds or so :)

The pond & the stars by Chocolat-Endive 2022-10-06T11:50:15Z

The game runs very well in Safari browser, no stuttering or anything. The animations are smooth and precise, the background music compliments the overall them spot on. Art style is beautifully done with the use of watercolors, it too compliments the mood of the game entirely. Great descriptions of the found items, especially like the dark humor which leaves some sort of hopelessness. As a recreational sportsfisherman I think you nailed the feeling of tranquility you get when fishing like this. Also, the mechanic of throwing the worst possible throw, still makes it possible to catch something, but harder to keep the "ball balanced". Well thought out.

What is left to be desired. A little more nature ambience. I like the use of sound effects. In style with the otherworldly fish, other entities could be in the scene. While I like the simplicity of the character, I would love to see something equally colorful in watercolors. I think this could work well with the theme.

This game is nothing short of amazing. Its well rounded and balanced, and with the time given, Im very impressed with your creativity and skills :)

CHAOS CONDUCTOR by Cope 2022-10-10T20:46:05Z

A very nostalgic feel, a curious cross between ghouls and goblins and duck hunter :) Very smooth execution and runs very well in a browser :)

Cool music and audio effects. the shooting In particular is a flashback to the days of yonder. What id like to see improved, is higher contrast on the monsters, they tend to blend in with the palette too well :)

KILLING TIME: The Dimensional RPG by Spex130 2022-10-12T11:37:31Z

Cannot download Mac client, 404 :(

ADHD Sorcerer by lienthealien 2022-10-10T14:03:38Z

Im looking forward to this. The idea seems original and puts focus on a subject that needs attention (no pun intended <3 ) Graphics look like they are very well done, I really love the pixel art. I hope this comes through.

As a rookie gameDev, I cut back to the bone of features leaving basically just one. Implementing that was then pretty straight forward. Everything else are layers on top, as to which the impulsiveness can actually be a benefit.

Keeping an eye on this feed :)

SquareMan by Flying Dog Fish 2022-10-13T07:44:43Z

I like this game, how you get an instant nostalgic feeling, the interpretation of the theme is very well thought out. It worked flawlessly on Safari.

Illuminati Intern Simulator by Dino Raineri 2022-10-08T20:59:28Z

Great humor, and fun. I imagine the rulers of chaos are in those considerations from time to time :D Wacky and funny art style, I like the overall experience.

The Internship by MrBamboo 2022-10-10T14:12:40Z

Very well conceived, and of course amazing graphics and implementation. I like the murmur of the angry boss, the snapping chairs and paperplane. I could easily see this as something to be expanded on. More actions from the other employees, sabotage, favors etc.

Potat-OS by JMad 2022-10-06T14:04:30Z

This game is really well done and a very good idea. I remember having thought of something similar just with "real" popups, what a horrible idea hahah.

I think the graphics are really original, and the whole windows 3.1 / XP feel is very nostalgic and works well together with the pop-up-hell :)

A Handy Job by 0X_VOID_X0 2022-10-10T20:52:53Z

Very cool game, some concepts are similar to my own, although mine is a lot more basic :) This is very well implemented, the graphics are good and the sounds appropriate for tools and interactions.

What I would like to see improved is perhaps a way to control from a controller :)

very cool implementation and project :)

Chrono Harvest by sirdorius 2022-10-10T16:32:59Z

Very well thought through. Great concept, and good difficulty rating. It was fun to play, and on top of that one of the games I played in safari webbrowser that actually works very well. Great implementation. The music and audio in general is very fulfilling, visually id love to see more colors in a later iteration :)

Fred & Pete by GeneralFlunder 2022-10-08T14:02:16Z

Sadly unable to make it work on MacOS with apple silicon :/

Drone TD by Stefan B. 2022-10-08T20:52:26Z

Very smooth execution, smooth controls and difficulty curve. It lives up to the very arcady tower defence with a twist. The resource harvesting adds a nice element to to game. The music suits the fast paced action very well, but leaves a little to be wanted in the effects. Overall a really solid project. Well done :)

Delivery Rush by Georgy16 2022-10-12T10:46:08Z

Very well implemented. Game runs very smoothly in Firefox, not so much on Safari. I like the implementation. I too thought a conveyer type game would fit the theme very well. The graphics are really good, the audio fits fine and the fun-factor is high. Simple and works. Managed to hold large items in a certain position before the next ones fell down. they landed onto of the held item, and I could put all items into the box at the same time, fun workaround :)

Bygone Melodies by Save Sloth Studios 2022-10-11T09:54:21Z

Wow well done :) the art and music was awesome. Very simple controls which was easy to get a hang on. Would love to see more instruments mechanics ie instruments, melodies, scenes. But given the time limit this was very well polished, the animations are smooth, coherent and makes you feel good. Very well executed guys and gals :)

The Day Time stood still by Sixela963 2022-10-07T22:39:20Z

I played your game in a safari browser, and it loads and runs.

The concept and the weather works well giving you a feeling that you are really parachuting into a blizzard :) The gameplay mechanics are somewhat confusing, you can move about fine, shooting from ctrl key works, it launches a projectile, but also caused my client to crash. I tried again and got mauled by those big grey spheres. I imagined they were really bad hail, in which case, yes the weather is fucked :)

The music is ominous and sets a tone. pixel art background was very cool. I was unable to leave past the bridge before getting mauled again.

What is left to be desired; some polishing, shooting mechanics as I expected to be able to shoot the giant boulder things, but was unable to.

Echo by XariusExcl 2022-10-10T19:10:31Z

This game really caught my attention, the pace of the sonar and the monitor, and interface. Its very well designed and makes for great fun. I can definitely see possibilities in expanding on both the mechanics and the variety of encounters. I will be keeping an eye on this one for sure :D

10-Second Magic Artist by vivyhasadream 2022-10-10T17:01:20Z

Very original idea. Very good use of stable diffusion. Honestly I was wondering how much use id see in this jam. Its funny and runs smooth. I like to see more prompts, since I got the same ones quite frequently. Everything in the game was so much fun. Very well executed and amazing work for such a short timespan.

📺 You Call The Shots! by Choo 2022-10-16T22:34:42Z

This game is very creative, very much fun and feels a bit like one of those buzzer type family games from the earlier 2000s. Very well crafted, runs smoothly on Safari, audio levels, are dialed in, which could easily be all over the place with so many clips, but its spot on. I like the humorous touch, and delightful coloring. Its easily one of those games you either play again or pass on to someone :)

The 10 Second Foot by Aes1 2022-10-10T14:24:03Z

Very fun idea, wonky graphics. I love the handwritten notes, and the fact that everything is snaaaaaail-slow. Very cool interpretation of the theme. I would like to see this polished outside the jam, as I think the idea has potential :D

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-11T13:49:54Z

Very fun and quirky :) runs well, I am however getting a black square as the player, and not sure that is intended, since everything else looks very well. Its running very smoothly on Firefox. Nice audio too. The music is fun and original :)

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-11T16:41:52Z

@artofluba latest Firefox, macOS 12.6 monterey, (Macbook air m1). It can be the Firefox client. I will try it again on various other browsers and let you know :)

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-11T16:45:15Z

@artofluba oh the game makes a little more sense now without the blackbox character I did not get how the 10 second theme was implemented before :D hahah, works fine in Safari (on Mac), character showing up properly and changing appearance. Will try other browsers, but not until tomorrow , and let you know :)

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-09-30T15:45:40Z

My first attempt at Ludum Dare, any game jam really. Im expecting to learn a great deal, fail miserably and have fun :)

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-05T20:38:41Z

Thanks for the kind feedback all :) I really enjoyed making the game but wanted to put more time into it which I plan to at next jam, the learning experience was great.

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-10T20:39:38Z

Thank you all for taking the time to play my game,

Elements like audio, diversity and annoyingly the pointer, albeit it increases the difficulty of the game by its poor collision precision kinda got cooked down to an mvp to meet the deadline. I am definitely considering improving on all elements of the game post mortem, but must admit, looking for more jams are in the scope too, if but the hours a day :)

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-12T05:51:50Z

@der-finski Thanks for playing the game :) The cursor hotspot is pretty wonky as well is some of the colliders. I have fixed this in a post-mortem version, but that won't be up until after the ratings are over. Im considering putting tooltips and hints as well as atmospheric text into some sort of chat bubbles which are easier to read than the current text.

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-12T19:47:17Z

@kuggenhoffen Thanks for the feedback and playing the game :) That's exactly features and corrections needed, except for the tool feedback, im gonna do something different :)

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-13T07:38:33Z

@flying-dog-fish Thank you for playing and the feedback. Im working on a more polished version of the game that includes more bombs and other necessary elements :)

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-15T00:05:20Z

@loveapplegames Thank you for playing and the feedback :) I totally agree. The text turned somewhat darker in the web-build than in the editor for some reason unknown, but it has been corrected in an upcoming build. So has the hitboxes. I believe that something happens when scaling the screensize, since this is the first time trying to make a 2D game, i had quite a few challenges aligning the objects. Hopefully some rework and this will be better :) The suggestion about memorization is really good. Im considering options what to do next :)

Disarm It (before time runs out) by FreeRunner 2022-10-28T06:29:05Z

I know Im probably late out, but still wanted to show the gratitude and thank everyone who played my jam game, and a special thanks to those who left feedback.

It was certainly a learning experience, especially with the restrictions I put upon myself. I’m very glad I set out with such a simple idea, and focused on getting the basic game loop to work, hence being able to deliver something. It was hard work but immensely fun and rewarding. This is my first game released and amongst the first 5 done, not counting the plethora of unfinished projects lying around. All I hear “your first 10 games are gonna suck, get them out of the way quickly” which has pushed me towards next project, instead of improving on this. I have however released an upgraded version, with audio, better colliders, hopefully smoother animations and a duck. It is uncertain whether I will work more on this particular game, but one thing is certain, the whole weekend January 6th is reserved this time 😊 Looking forward to LD52 😁 So long everyone, and thanks for all the fish 😁

PS oh, if anyone cares enough to get in touch, I can be reached at my itch.io page or on Twitter @ectocatdev

Bus Upon a Time by Sylf 2022-10-10T20:29:40Z

I liked the retro feel from the days of transport tycoon et al. Even the music is on point :). I can see how the genre goes naturally well with the counter mechanic and its well implemented. What I would like to see improved is the damn driving of those drunken bus drivers, I mean, its very narrow roads or its suicidal chauffeurs :)

Nice gfx, nice audio. Intuitive UI, well done :)

Countdown by rowen 2022-10-06T13:58:54Z

This is really well executed game, on kinda the similar concept as my own :) I really enjoy the graphics, the puzzle element and the use of colors which is refreshing.

There was a little stuttering running in Safari browser, but nothing gamebreaking :)

Venge Of Mari by DileriumL 2022-10-10T13:37:23Z

Good platformer, of course more time for testing would polish out the small collision bugs, or things stacking onto each other. I had a small pyramid of soldiers happen, kinda like cheerleaders, I wish I had taken a screenshot :D Audio is very well made, and spot on with the interactions. Graphics are nice, but would love to see more symbiotic graphics, ie the background+map is very dark, urban ruins, but the boxes bright pink and rough. I had fun with the game, and the webversion worked very well, perhaps its the 1.1 version not sure, but it ran fine in Firefox

Labyrinth of Darkness by lonagi 2022-10-05T11:11:49Z

Played the game to level 11, I like the concept of ever changing dungeon, I was myself contemplating a similar(ish) concept. I like that you utilize fog of war so there is an element of randomness as to where you go. Works well in webGL

Cheating Husband by Sailors 2022-10-14T05:55:48Z

This game makes me feel, really bad. Well done :) Invoking a feeling with your audience (players) is definitely a mark of success, be it happy, scared or appalled. The concept of the game is well clever, and the execution matches the concept very well. I can see this expanded in so many ways into a fully fledged puzzle game where you get to catch the cheater red handed in the end or something. I missed audio, but understand that the time is a very limiting factor. It wasn't clear initially how the every 10 seconds worked, maybe a description would help the players. Overall great game, well done. Also, runs very well in the webbrowser (Safari) :)

PORTAL TO THE RIGHT WORLD by Volodymyr Karchevskyy 2022-10-14T09:27:22Z

Great game :) very amazing graphics, beautiful pixelate. Runs visually smooth as a baby on Safari browser. Good idea implementing the counter. I like the dinosaurs, they're cute :D I didn't get any audio on the first playthrough on safari, might try another browser and see if that is better :)

Out To Pasture! by RaspbarryGames 2022-10-10T09:12:22Z

I loved the art style, the washed out colors. The theme is great, and the spherical planet is really cool. Very well made. Super relaxing atmosphere :) I didn't find what the 10 seconds element was, the sheep didn't run for 10 seconds, maybe that's too long too, but perhaps something else could be implemented :)
