I like the art, and the color choice😁
Are you able to release a Mac or Web build? Would love to play!
@pete-thorne I can't do mac builds, but the embedded web build works for me if you show only the iframe it is in. Only tested this in firefox and pale moon though. It would be good to know if it works in other browsers. Hopefully the embedding gets fixed soon so this workaround becomes unnecessary.
Love the dark atmosphere and the graphics! (:
The lack of textures actually works for this game. It was a bit unclear what the goal was sadly but overall the aesthetics make up for it
Sorry can't get any of the links to download, and although the workaround for the iframe seems to allow the embedded version to run, the camera seems a little wild (esp scrollwheel zoom) and can't seem to select anything, clicking or dragging the bounding box.
@someone I got the HTML version working as you suggested
So the animation work is really nice here!
The game is... confusing and the camera and controls need work
I suggest a simple progression where users learn the basics step by step and you build the game up over time.
but a crazy mad ambitious concept - well done!
Had fun trying to figure out what to do. The models/animations are great (has that RuneScape vibe!), and the lack of colour really adds to the atmosphere. This is one of those games where I feel like the theme lets it down unfortunately. 10 seconds isn't much time to figure out what to do and can feel a little unfair (Not a fan of this theme, and it's the second time I've seen it!) I can see the auto sacrificing was there to help mitigate this, but I sometimes would just lose for seemingly no reason - even when I had people making the monument and plenty of sacrifices. Even still really fun experience.
Interesting color choice. Work for animation it's really nice!
The graphics and animations :D Lol i love them. The atmosphere fits the concept perfectly. I didn't quite get the goal of the game, but experimenting and figuring out what to do was quite fun!
The atmosphere of the game is great but i think i dont understand the game play eheheheh i complete the legs of the great beast statue but everytime all died and the appocalps start kkkk
Interesting game. I'm not sure I got the controls correct. Especially moving people between the locations as i would have liked.
This game has a very unique look, I like it. Unfortunately I'm too dumb to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing. Some visual indication of the selected units would make this less confusing.
@flying-dog-fish selected units have a green circle around their feet. I ran out of time to add an intro. I hoped the game description would be enough but evidently not.
@someone They do? I didn't see any in firefox.
@flying-dog-fish oh hey, so they don't. Looks like firefox has trouble rendering GL_LINES. There should also be movement lines showing where the characters are going. Maybe that's one reason why so many people are having trouble with my game. Edit: They are now fixed.
For the embedded version, it looks like the mouse is offset from the actual point that you click, at least on Firefox. The Windows version didn't have this problem, although I couldn't figure out how to make someone sit in the chair to recruit more people.
Interesting concept ! Sadly the control are a bit lacking to be able to figure out what you can and then do the thing in 10 second. The location transfert for exemple. Figuring what you can do in other location just take to much time because it's hard to even send people there
Complicated but very intruguing. I think if you make it a bit more user friendly it could be great. The minimalistic graphics work well.
The atmosphere is unusual, but I didn’t get to play on the trackpad :(
Interesting concept, however its a bit too clunky. The graphics look interesting, and the gameplay seems like it could be fun, but it seriously needs polishing.
Amazing game. Cool way to integrate the theme.
I AM THE ANCIENT ONE.
Interesting way to incorporate the theme. Good job!
I choose to read IT as IT(department) :)
Interesting idea!
I didn't expect this to be this fun and entertaining. The humor was spot on. I chuckled when one of my guys lied down on the altar :D
This is impressive work! The game is very difficult partly reasonably, but partly because the interface and controls are a bit complicated. Lack of sound and color is disappointing but entirely understandable - like I said, this is an impressive game to design and implement in just 3 days time, and it's challenging in a way many jam games aren't. Kudos!
Took a while to understand what's going on here but after a while it started to make sense. I couldn't get the indoctrination chair to work but managed to get up to 27.6% statue progress regardless. The controls felt a bit awkward at first but were good after I got up to speed, I like being able to see the lines indicating what the cultists (or chickens :D) are about to do. Ah yea I also played the embedded build and it worked flawlessly, great work all in all!
Interesting, ambitious premise. I couldn't manage to beat it; was playing the embedded game in Chrome. F1 opened Chrome's help menu, so that keyboard binding didn't work. The ability to restart the game after losing would be helpful. Might have been simpler to, instead of having 3 locations you fast-travel across, simply make a single play area with all three features.
What engine did you use for this? Is this a custom thing? Very cool game - love the feel of it. It has that beautiful blend of simplicity and complexity like chess but with a lovely dose of darkness.
@ninjavitis I realised the F1,F2,F3 keys were bad binds and added 1,2,3 as alternatives when I made the web version. Also R restarts. Seems I forgot to add that one to the controls list in the description. Oops.
@ian-dejong It is a custom built c++ engine I have been using for all my jam entries.
Very interesting submission! I made a game with unit selection as well and your games had better selection handling.
Nice job, I hope you keep working on this after LD! :D
Love the idea and it's very impressive that you did this with a custom engine. I was a bit confused at the beginning but after my small brain finally understood what I had to do, I had a lot of fun with this!
Great game! The only annoying thing was that the cultists kept capturing each other, it was pretty funny though.
Nice animations! I like this as a start, and I managed to make most of the statue
Like the look and concept! I was kind of confused about what orders I should be giving the cultists. Also the mouse didn't line up right on my screen and all my selections were off
