Cute but 10s?
There are. Things spawn every 10s, divided in 2 groups
Art style and music is good! Couldn't quite puzzle out all the mechanics though. Then I jumped over a wall I probably wasn't supposed to and fell off the world! But I hope Mari gets her venge.
Wow, yeah, didn't expect it could happen) thx we will fix that
I dunno how to feel about the game . I'm sorry if i sound a bit critical , i know that it's hard work especially as a solo team. But the game really felt aimless to me! The different asset clashing with each other , the horror first presentation but arcade mechanics of world wide event the arena of ennemy the puzzle platform being made almost impossible with the wave of ennemy , the health being weird and the combat being awful with either the animation launching way to often or the attack not having cooldown but at the time having such a weird hitbox that it's hard to even hit anything. The horizontal attack when a lot of ennemy are using verticality. And we are playing an undead robot tv collecting soul for the ghost of mari-upol ? It really feel like a game that tried to include everything popular without being anything. The missile effect was really cool but it couldn't shine. I think i would have rather play a simple 2D arena fight with crazy effect happening every 10 secondes around (maybe a single one at a time) and ennemy comming at you from a direction you can actually hit.
Good game, but hard to controll and sometimes it realy not comfortable( also not understand what do skills on top) Важко контролювати іноді, і незрозуміла задача скілів вгорі,
@fedir, це 10 сек тематика. Згоден, недопрацювали
@herryfabien thank you for you large feedback. Yeah, you right, I like your point, that's because our time was too small on this game, and my game dev experience is simplly miserable. Next time will be beter!
@herryfabien btw, attacks work every way except bottom, you should use attack button with WSD to channel it. Animation though is not working
Very interesting game and very well made visuals!
I enjoyed the backstory and Mari's design; the controls felt a bit wonky as it is expected of a jam game.
@dileriuml Yeah it's a common pitfall to bite more than you can chew on game jam ^^. Oh okay well that another pitfall : If you don't have playerfeedback then the mechanics is almost as good as not present
We appreciate any feedbacks, thank you ! @catellib and @herryfabien, this is actually my first game on jam, I tried my best to show my artists job, so as for music and fx)
Interesting game,visual so cool
Hello! Gg for a first game jam. Keep doing it!
@sagiii thank you and @igor-morgun too! Your feedbacks valuable!
Interesting game,good visual
Cool game! It's difficult to hit the soldiers without getting hit ourself though, that can be a bit frustrating :/
@sethios sorry for that. Yeah - you can just spam attack button, and there is recovery rate, time in which you can't get hit. And make sure to gather health spawns
Strong outing! Not 100% sure about the enemies falling from the sky. I would recommend making them slower so that you can more easily predict where they are going to land.
@mossgames Thank you for feedback, that specific feature was made about hour before publish, I spent like 5 minutes. Will fix that too, post-jam if it gets any good reviews!))
Interesting and a bit tragic game. Not sure if "humor" category could be rate properly here. Mostly 3c (character, camera, control) is a hardest part in such games. In some cases you might notice "blind collision spots" during the interaction with enemies and obstacles. 1.jpg Being twice bigger compared to enemies makes it harder to avoid damage or aim properly. Also, unfortunately, I didn't realize how to launch rockets after gathering 50 souls.
But I believe there is nothing impossible and everything could be fixed later in a post-jam version. I really liked the rich animation, art and sound design along with music. Concept is very promising, wish all the best with further development. ps. You can bypass the door and jump over if you try enough
@bbaf thank you very much for your rich comment! Yeah every little thing you mentioned is known bugs today already, will be fixed post-jam :) I will gather them all and work on it asap :)
@bbaf > Also, unfortunately, I didn’t realize how to launch rockets after gathering 50 souls.
The thing is it is more likely bottom attack. But you've just given me absolutely great idea for feature!
Weird topic, little bit macabre. I like the art.
@gonzalol yeah it is, right? Any attention to it helps in general
Looks interesting, the idea that you're in Mariupol actually is on time ) The jumping feels a bit loose. Great music!
@adriangray thank you. Yes, there is some kind of animation bug that adds inappropriate impulse, and I guess I put too big number for jump force. Will work on that !
nice game! But forgive me for not having a clear and intuitive understanding of what the game is trying to convey......
Good art style and audio. The movement was a little floaty and there were a couple times when the player got stuck moving backwards for a little bit, but it wasn't too much of a problem. The missiles that drop were packed tight and it was hard to reliably dodge sometimes. Overall it was a good first entry, keep making more!
Cute game! Movements felt a bit weird and hard to control however that could just be a me-thing, Lots of potentials!
@bone17, @landosystems and @eezabra Thank you very much for your comments, they will help us to improve it!)
Hard to play. Nice mood. Interesting idea. I like encounters. Shwinodogs too cute :)
I like many others am not sure how to feel about this game. I'm coming from it off the back of playing another very Anti-War game so this one was very contrasting to that one. The war in Ukraine is a very difficult topic and the things going on in the war are absolutely horrendous. I don't want to get political in a game jam but I'm not sure a topic as heavy as this should be present in a game jam.
Focusing more on your game, the contrasting art styles, the gameplay being somewhat wack, and just the general feeling of unease from the dialogue and story left me feeling very strange. I like the idea of telling the story of someone in the war and I like shining a spotlight on how the civilians are suffering but I feel this could've been handled more tastefully. The message of the game seemingly being "Kill them all" while understandable I feel is not the best message to give off. That being said I am saying this from the perspective of someone safe at home and not someone on the front lines or living in a war-torn country.
I hate to be such a downer and as such I'd light to highlight the parts of the game I thought were strong, the character design is very cool and the animations look nice. The music on it's own is quite nice and the background art is very clean as well. Level design is pretty good in a sort of Limbo-esque style.
I like all of those as individual pieces but am not sure they blended very well in the final product.
Either way, good job on finishing and releasing the game!
@rtdmfn This is absolutely fair point! Thank you for your time and such good feedback. This is one of the best comments I read so far about our game. In time we will do better game, these people I worked with are amazing artists and I tried to put all their work on view. Next time our game will touch your soul for sure!
I have similar feelings to @rtdmfn, who expressed them quite eloquently. This game takes an ongoing real-world war, where people are currently fighting and dying, and makes that setting lighthearted and casual and gamey. It comes off to me as very disrespectful. I actually had to stop playing after a few minutes because I felt physically ill.
I think that real-world atrocities should be avoided in game jams. There simply isn't enough time to handle the subject matter well.
Excuse the massive non-sequitur, but I also want to mention that since you did not create all the art for your game, you are [supposed](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules) to opt-out of ratings in the "Graphics" category.
@iamsodarncool, Thank you for your point and feedback. Im sorry to hear that you didn't enjoyed the game. Your point is debatable, because my whole team so as me are ukrainians and we are suffered from war in some way. On the contrary, we honor people that lost their lives this way(maybe a bit wierd way), by this game. And about the art ratings, this whole thing is about showing art that my team did. They really deserve it! So as musician.
> Your point is debatable, because my whole team so as me are ukrainians and we are suffered from war in some way. On the contrary, we honor people that lost their lives this way(maybe a bit wierd way), by this game.
I suppose that's fair. I am experiencing your work from a very sheltered perspective. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime and try to be more open-minded.
Re: art ratings, just keep in mind for future LDs that your team needs to make 100% of the art during the jam. The rules are very clear about this and I'm not sure how you missed it.
@iamsodarncool, thank you! Wait there is no such thing in rules about 100% as you said. I think its fair enough for my artist to be judged for 95% of the game art they created, will ask Mike about that I guess. Thank you again! Have a good one !
this is hard!but I like it!sda.JPG (rate back plz?)
@projectcolorball Bro :) I rated you few days ago already :) Thank you, for your feedback though!
Interesting game. The music and sound effects are great. Controlling the robot was a little frustrating, attacking against the men and when you could/couldn't move through scenery.
@harmadillo thank you for feedback!
very good game. it was a bit uncomfartable for me with controls, but its still great submision!
@min4uk Thank you, for such nice feedback! Y, we're fixing that!
Feels nice playing it. Could be better if player can attack upward and downward. And some places feels too small for the player to fit in.
@alexyam, Thank you for feedback. Things you mentioned are in upcoming fixes. Up/Bottom-attack is actually working, but no animations for that was implemented. Bottom-attack is unlockable for souls at npc)
I have the same feeling as @rtdmfn and @iamsodarncool but I'm not gonna repeat it since you've already address them and I appreciate you taking the time to answer their feedback. I think this is a decent entry for your first LD so pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. I'm sure you guys will get better next time since you're listening to our comments and feedback and I think that's the most important lesson on LD. Cheers!
@chingle Thank you, for your feedback!
Very cool take on the theme, couldn't quite catch most of the mechanics straight from the game though...
@pxgluz, thank you for feedback. Will work on that too!
Hi there. It's really something hard to comment out, because of sensitivity of the topic.
A good attempt to point more attention to the very important aspect of the war. Most people don't probably think about how it feels inside and don't think that it touches them (tho a lot of people suffering and dying right now in Ukraine). However I'm not sure that this genre and approach is the best to allow people to really feel what people of Ukraine feels right now with all respect to the efforts you've put.
@erlioniel, Thank you, I like your feedback! Absolutely agree. We hadn't enough time to make it properly, but things are on their way!
Good platformer, of course more time for testing would polish out the small collision bugs, or things stacking onto each other. I had a small pyramid of soldiers happen, kinda like cheerleaders, I wish I had taken a screenshot :D Audio is very well made, and spot on with the interactions. Graphics are nice, but would love to see more symbiotic graphics, ie the background+map is very dark, urban ruins, but the boxes bright pink and rough. I had fun with the game, and the webversion worked very well, perhaps its the 1.1 version not sure, but it ran fine in Firefox
@freerunner, Thank you for nice feedback! We are already working on more graphics for the boxes/enemies/rockets etc to be in more generalised style. Thank you for playing our game!
Great submission! I appreciated the message, especially in these times. Thank you for sharing! I don't have anything to add that other people have not already said, so I'll just say thank you for this!
(Note: when the rockets fell from the sky, that was a very powerful feeling!)
@hawkin thank you very much for feedback and for playing our game! About rockets, I filled the same way, when I was implementing that!
