My first attempt at Ludum Dare, any game jam really. Im expecting to learn a great deal, fail miserably and have fun :)
A great start, i had a similar idea so i'm overjoyed to see how others approach it. Got to start somewhere, it runs and does what you wanted. that's the job done.
You can't even begin to imagine how many games are post and not playable or too hard. Yours avoid these two traps and that's already a great thing! I loved the art, and the gameplay was easy to learn too! GG
a good firts attempt at ludumdare , i wouldnt have the will to go alone : o was a bit confused where to click whith the tools equipped but i managed to dissarm all the bomb , mechanic is pretty straight foward.
I played your game and I was surprised. Because there is very good idea. Also, you realised it VEERRRy cool for your first time. As you are alone developer you made art and programming. It's amazing first game
Thanks for the kind feedback all :) I really enjoyed making the game but wanted to put more time into it which I plan to at next jam, the learning experience was great.
For a first game with your own pixel arts, graphics are not that bad. The concept is simple but that pretty cool. The only thing is that the game is so fast because there is not much diversity with all the bombs (only 4 patterns). Go on, you can do something with this
The concept of bomb disarmament facility is super fun! The game is simple and easy to understand. One little thing that could add a lot to your game is some sound FX, they could be used as feedback of the player actions. Simples blips & blops can really make a game more satisfying to play!
I haven't spotted any bug, and I managed to play to the end. Good work!
> LD51, first game jam, first attempt at pixel art, which took way longer than anticipated. Great fun, 10/10 will participate again.
Yay! The first LD is a really special experience. I'm glad you enjoyed participating. And yeah, it is hard, and things can take more time than anticipated, that's part of the fun!

You did'nt fail: you managed to release a playable game! And that is awesome.
Concept is great. I actually had fun playing this. Very basic and simple, and sometimes that's exactly what is needed. Good job!
That was fun! I wasn't sure what you were going to do for the hammer but when the steel case showed up I was like "Oh yeah - we're cracking this sucker open.
I like the interpretation of the theme, and the bombs showing up on a conveyor lined up with the theme interpretation and really helped me get into the mood.
Solid first attempt! Could have been more challenging, beat it without losing a single time so it went quick.
Nice first entry. The only annoying thing I had was to pick up another tool - it was difficult for me to figure out where the mouse points when the mouse pointer was a tool. Otherwise good idea - it could have been a bit more difficult on the puzzles but certainly a good direction conceptually.
Thank you all for taking the time to play my game,
Elements like audio, diversity and annoyingly the pointer, albeit it increases the difficulty of the game by its poor collision precision kinda got cooked down to an mvp to meet the deadline. I am definitely considering improving on all elements of the game post mortem, but must admit, looking for more jams are in the scope too, if but the hours a day :)
Im not sure how to change tools. I just mashed buttons and somehow i changed it. A little explaination would have been nice
Fun game otherwise tho and cool grafics
@der-finski Thanks for playing the game :) The cursor hotspot is pretty wonky as well is some of the colliders. I have fixed this in a post-mortem version, but that won't be up until after the ratings are over. Im considering putting tooltips and hints as well as atmospheric text into some sort of chat bubbles which are easier to read than the current text.
Good job. All the mechanics are there and they're enjoyable enough for a good experience. Some pointers to consider perhaps next time: - Text is a bit difficult to read. - Simple Some instructions could be added. Perhaps just a title screen with instructions. - It was a bit difficult to select the tools. Hitbox or cursor was off. - Perhaps some kind of feedback on what is interactable on the bomb with the tool? For example the cursor could become larger when hovering over the target area. - More puzzles :)
Nevertheless very well done for first entry!
@kuggenhoffen Thanks for the feedback and playing the game :) That's exactly features and corrections needed, except for the tool feedback, im gonna do something different :)
Good job for first time. I'd love to diffuse more types of bombs.
@flying-dog-fish Thank you for playing and the feedback. Im working on a more polished version of the game that includes more bombs and other necessary elements :)
Interesting concept. Figuring out what to do was not too difficult. Picking up the tools was particularly difficult, the hitboxes for the tools were not intuitive. Some of the text was hard to read. Maybe the game can be made more interesting when the player has to memorise the colours of the wires to cut.
@loveapplegames Thank you for playing and the feedback :) I totally agree. The text turned somewhat darker in the web-build than in the editor for some reason unknown, but it has been corrected in an upcoming build. So has the hitboxes. I believe that something happens when scaling the screensize, since this is the first time trying to make a 2D game, i had quite a few challenges aligning the objects. Hopefully some rework and this will be better :) The suggestion about memorization is really good. Im considering options what to do next :)
nice game, you had a interesting concept, good first try :)
This is a nice submission. I felt like it was a bit too easy, maybe needed to be a little more challenging, but enjoyed trying it out :)
I know Im probably late out, but still wanted to show the gratitude and thank everyone who played my jam game, and a special thanks to those who left feedback.
It was certainly a learning experience, especially with the restrictions I put upon myself. I’m very glad I set out with such a simple idea, and focused on getting the basic game loop to work, hence being able to deliver something. It was hard work but immensely fun and rewarding. This is my first game released and amongst the first 5 done, not counting the plethora of unfinished projects lying around. All I hear “your first 10 games are gonna suck, get them out of the way quickly” which has pushed me towards next project, instead of improving on this. I have however released an upgraded version, with audio, better colliders, hopefully smoother animations and a duck. It is uncertain whether I will work more on this particular game, but one thing is certain, the whole weekend January 6th is reserved this time 😊 Looking forward to LD52 😁 So long everyone, and thanks for all the fish 😁
