LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Glitch Quest by velvetlobster 2022-10-04T14:15:06Z

I really love this concept, it's fun to click around and see what happens and the vintage graphics are fab! Also, in particular, I really really like the music.

I will echo what some others are saying that it would be good to have some direction. Maybe some instructions could be integrated into the gameplay via the terminal somehow?

Great work!

10 is The End by TrueVacuum 2022-10-04T14:34:25Z

Amazing entry, I love the atmosphere and there are some really cool puzzles!

I will echo what others are saying about 7&8, although I did manage to complete the whole game. I think having a little hint tooltip appear after 10 seconds could be a good way to help people who need it without making the answer too obvious. It would also mean that people who don't want the hint don't have to click it.

Overall, I love this game!

Marshmallow Bandit by Flamboozle 2022-10-03T19:37:00Z

This game is awesome! I'm not typically a huge fan of roguelikes, but I really enjoy this one, the atmosphere is really great and the controls feel very tight. I like how there are lives and, when you die, you just restart the room.

There's nothing about the gameplay I'd want to change, but if you let the player know how many rooms they'd completed on game over, I think that would be great!

I definitely will be coming back to play more  Is there a way to win or is it an endless game?

Compulsive Jousting by Mavvy 2022-10-10T20:43:53Z

This is so awesome, the movement, graphics and audio were great and I even dipped back in after the story mode to get all the stars

Let's go! :100:

Toot-al Darkness by woahitsjeff 2022-10-07T19:52:26Z

This kind of game is a bit spooky for me  so good work! I really like how this has come together

Subway Cat by Zoeluci 2022-10-03T15:48:58Z

Fun game! I like how you can see which trains are coming and the graphics are very nice!

It would be cool, if you decide to build on the game, to have the cat face some other challenges or minigames throughout their journey. I also wonder if maybe coins could be replaced with something like cat treats and chests with food bowls? :smiley_cat:

Great work!

SIEGE: The surprisingly punctual invasion game by AnxiousGameDev 2022-10-03T13:21:01Z

I really enjoyed this! I'm a bit of a sucker for tower defence and merging games, so this hit a sweet spot for me lol.

I like how you have to commit to a position when merging towers and I think the graphics are brilliant.

The fact that towers are randomised when you combine them is a pretty interesting idea imo, and I enjoyed it, however, it would be nice to have some control over what it produced. Maybe enemies could periodically drop power-ups that allow creation of one type of tower or more trees for a period of time? I also think it would be good if the differences between towers was more noticeable during gameplay.

Overall, though, I think this is a fantastic strategy game and brilliantly put together, especially given the 48 hour production time

EVERY TIME YOU BLINK by robobarbie 2022-10-07T20:59:29Z

Woah, this had me gripped! Even though I was finding the puzzles very hard I had to keep going (and I got to the end  Amazing job!

SANDMAN by CptPlastic 2022-10-03T18:31:38Z

I think this game is an excellent concept and, in terms of atmosphere, is perfect in my eyes, the graphics and audio are brilliant. The shooting also feels really nice and I like the idea that you have to use the light from the enemies to survive the darkness.

As others have noted, moving seems to be quite difficult and I found my clicks were ignored very often. I'm not sure if this is related, but this error appears in the console constantly from game load, even if I'm not doing anything.

`SCRIPT ERROR: attempt_to_move: Invalid get index '0' (on base: 'PoolVector3Array'). At: res://character.gde:1178`

I'm not sure what RPG in a Box will allow, and it's not a massive deal, but it would be good if you can hide the console from the player for a potential final release.

All that being said, I really like what you've done here and hope you continue to build on it in the future!

@woahitsjeff Tysm, I'm really glad you enjoyed it  Yes, I thought this would be a good opportunity to practice doccumentation, so I'm glad you noticed the effort I put in there as well!

@house-trap-charlie Sounds like those wasps were slacking  I will investigate and see if I can get them to sort their act out lol :nerd: Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed!

@nickpick Thank you for your feedback! It seems the wasps are fitting a few definitions of "bug" atm  I will look into it!

@mavvy Thanks so much for the insightful feedback, I'm glad you like it

@blue-pin-studio Thank you for the nice feedback, I'm happy you found the game to be calm  As you weren't sure how to play at first, is there any way you think I could improve the "How to Play" section in the description? I want to make an in-game tutorial from it at some point, so I hope to make it as clear as possible. (Of course, if you hadn't read it before playing, don't worry, I understand )

@simba Thank you for the feedback! Wrt the wasp stingers, I was conscious they might be hard to see, so I asked a few people to check it out to help me get it right during development, so I'm not really sure how their visibility could be improved further or what colour might work better while remaining on theme. Do you have any suggestions?

@jk5000 Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you like it! Truth be told, I was waiting for someone to comment on the sound design lol, this is only the second game I ever made and I didn't have time to figure out what to do about music within the Jam timeline 🥲 If it's not too much trouble, do you have any recommendations on where to get music from?

ScramBumble by robeecodes 2022-10-13T14:46:27Z

@jk5000 I see, thank you for the suggestion!

@chuchugeralt Thank you for the feedback! Lol, yeah, the rain  you've said exactly what I wanted to do after completing the core gameplay elements, but I ran out of time 🥲 Similar with the wasps and fog, if I continue building, I'll make their entrances and exits a bit cleaner as well.

If it's not too much trouble, do you have any recommendations for where I could get music from?

ScramBumble by robeecodes 2022-10-14T15:53:18Z

@chuchugeralt Thank you so much, that's really helpful information and I appreciate the time you put into it  I will definitely look into it all for next time!

Slime Can Fly by BenTheTwoOfUs 2022-10-07T20:33:17Z

I love this game, it's a nice challenge and I think the visuals and audio are super cute! I like the enemy variations, I think the ones with the bins on their heads are very funny and remind me of the Koopas in Mario

I was a bit confused by the pink guys that shoot out of the cannons—functionally and visually, they act as power-ups, but they seem to cause basically instant death, so I assume they are bad guys?

I've played ten levels, and I really admire the dedication it must have taken to do so many level designs! Great work!
