cool!
Awesome!
I am your worst nightmare
This game has The Graphics. This game has The Theme. Some would say this game even has The Mood. What more could you ask for?
Awesome game, one of the best I played. Really nailed the souls game mood! Liked all the small details, like the players leveling up and phase transitions. The gameplay was engaging and fast-paced, and the player AI is perfect.
This game was fantastic! I love the connections to From Soft games and the idea was super clever. Great work and use of the the theme. I made it to the point where 2 heroes were coming in at once. The phase transitions really saved my bacon for a bit too!
This is super cool and innovative! I love how the game changed as you entered different boss phases. The different heroes were funny too! As a musician who loves symphonic metal as wel.... shoutout to Mr Kraus for creating an epic soundtrack!!
My absolute favorite of the jam! Stellar on all fronts.
I like the concept, the 3D pixel art is really go0d for a gamejam project. Nice one !!!!!
Wow! Cool! This is great! I am impressed. I enjoyed playing it (best: killed 9 heroes). Its a cool idea to be the one defeading the heroes. It is spectacular graphics/ effects and good BGM. I struggled a bit with the controls: I often did not see the direction I would attack and I did not feel like I could aim the direction. But cool to have so many different weapons/ fire attacks!
That's a good take on the theme! I liked the options for many attacks, and the art is top notch In my opinion. Felt a bit too easy at the beginning, and I kept looking for some basic-no cool down-simple attack, but it was fun nonetheless. Also music had me going there pretty hard not gonna lie
Awesome game. Amazing graphics for a jam, for a game in general. I really enjoyed all of the influences as well. It's cool to play as a boss against random characters. Bonus points for the Dark Souls and Metal Gear Rising references.
A really really good entry, great job!
Underrated gem here. The art is awesome and the idea is awesome + funny + meta. The fire slash power is an absolute scam tho.
This is really impressive for a 72 hour game jam, fantastic job!
This is what reviewers will be calling the dark souls of video games for decades to come.
Battle system is so addictive I replayed it a few times until tried every ability
Good idea, great art! It's fun!
Fun game, had a blast! 5 stars
great work every one. :)
This game is really, really great. Graphics are beautiful, the "Octopath traveler" effect is stunning, the concept is clever and makes good use of the game and music is a blast. The little phrases of the heros are a nice touch and the "Phase change mechanic" is a clever use of the premise and a great mechanic to explore different gameplays.
The game looks really great, the mix of 2D and 3D works really well! I think it would have been cool if the boss regained at least a bit of health between battles, though.
I love the game (and i love the impact Elden Ring had on thi jam), the art is SO GOOD and the sound too! could see the rouge legacy inspiration too
i love you jellingfish
Art team did an amazing job! And overall game looks really polished, i very much enjoyed my time playing it :)
Amazing work! I wasn't able to play it properly because WSAD wasn't working, but the general idea and visuals are just top notch!
This was just all around fantastic. Really well polished and great looking game. I had a lot of fun playing and the different abilities really encouraged different playstyles. The music was also just kickass! Nice!
Really cool idea. Good music, good graphics.
Had a great time burning 6 Heros >:)
Wonderful game! It looks really pretty! The different boss phases are a charming way of giving players a chance to play around with different abilities; it takes a few playthroughs to get a feel for which abilities benefit your playstyle the most, but I was willing to give it those playthroughs because the game is a fun one.
Man this game is unbelievably polished with great timing on the theme. I'd be surprised if this didn't get top 10 in a few categories.
I'll touch only on the gameplay since the art quality speaks for itself. The game has a nice effect on the player because you immediately think about FromSoft games and what it'd be like to play as one of those bosses. So you pretty quickly buy into the fantasy of being a boss - more so than other boss games because of this tie.
I think the part where you really differentiate yourself from similar games is when a 2nd hero steps up to the plate and you have to fight multiple at a time. That's something I don't see too often and it immediately kicks you out of whatever rote pattern you've already been using. I think leaning into this aspect even further will get some great gameplay out of it.
The spells were varied enough and I really liked that you only had 2 to choose from. That made the choices fairly critical and also made the playthroughs feel very different.
The game theme and fantasy promise really sucks you in. And with the long learning curve, it kept me playing for a while. I'll definitely be keeping track of future games :)
@arzi Thanks for the feedback! We actually debated having the healing up to the current third of health dictated by the phase after defeating all of the current heroes, but we decided to scrap the healing for now to encourage shorter more challenging runs and having players experience more of the abilities in a short time, since this is a game jam game and people usually don't spend a ton of time playing each game. Good to know you think healing could work though, we will consider it when releasing a more polished, final post jam version
Great concept and art. The visuals as a whole were fantastic. Love how you guys did 2.5D. However, it did also hinder the game quite a bit. One main problem I had was actually judging distance between me and the players. This also made abilities like the axe kinda frustrating to use. The player AI is fine, seems like how a player would play a soulslike anyway lol. The quotes from the players were nice as well. I managed to get to the 3rd wizard. Nice entry
Simply fun and amusing. A solid product overall!
Brilliant xD one of the best JAM games I've played! This would be a perfect game to expand after ludum.
Honestly this is an incredible ludum dare entry! The visual style is amazing, the music is great, it feels really polished, and it's just fun to play. The game feel of being a big boss was pulled off really well, and being able to choose different moves as the game progressed was fun and kept the game interesting.
What caught my attention the most was the enemy AI, great job! A solid and well-polished game with neat art. Can see it on the top pages for sure.
One of the most polished Jam games I've ever seen. Love the art style and effects!
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my stream!

Fun game! Really enjoyed the 2D/3D graphics style. The only thing I might add would be like different levels to the battle with different music. I got a little tired of the same battle music after a while, could use some variation. Overall, really good game!
This rules! The art is great, the music absolutely slaps, and the sound effects gave the game a nice punch! I also liked the randomly generated heroes and their dialogue, which gave a nice contrast between a serious boss fight and the comedy of it being a video game. There was also a nice variety of attacks to choose from, but some felt a bit underpowered, like the pillar of flames. My favorites were probably the fireball and demonic barrage because I could just stand in one spot and spam them at incoming heroes who could do nothing about it. But I wouldn't say the AI was exactly dumb, it felt really natural! I think you all did an amazing job! :)
(Whoops, sorry for the double comment!)
This was fantastic! I had a similar idea a while back when Elden Ring released but never took it any further than the "what if" stage in my head--you guys absolutely knocked it out of the park.
I'm stuck on a low-end laptop at the moment, but I can't wait to give this another go when I've got my usual computer back.
The idea of phase transitions to change your moveset was brilliant! I'd have preferred your health pool going back up to full each time you fight a new challenger, like it would in a more normal setup, but it's only a minor gripe.
Not sure why the menu button sfx sound so cutesy. They're a bit out of place considering the rest of the game, but the soundtrack was *perfect* for the gameplay.
I haven't even mentioned the sprite work and the environment assets, but they were all great. Again, can't wait to play this at a decent framerate and enjoy it properly.
Any chance of you guys fleshing this out with more content post-jam? The concept was so well executed that it'd be really great to see more!
Amazing job--absolutely loved it!
Jeez louise, this is on an insane level of quality for a game jam. Mind-bogglingly good graphics, awesome artstyle, fun and engaging gameplay and sick music. I really have no complaints, I wish you make a full game in the future.
The art for this one was fantastic! Great work here!
Super cool inversion of a boss battle! Love the art and effects. The camera work and post processing were nice touches. Great work on the environment and character art (really love the little death animation details). The music and sfx worked really well. The dialog really added to the humor. Controls worked great, though I wish there was a cooldown indicator for the abilities. Amazing entry overall! I could totally see this having meta upgrades and other systems that could really add a lot of gameplay.
