LD46 — Keep it alive

The Ludum Dare Flame 🔥 by tobiasw 2020-04-21T19:38:20Z

Quite unique concept and surprisingly fun. Always good to see multiplayer as well.

Continuity by LogFlames 2020-04-23T13:37:29Z

Very nice game, impressive to get that amount done in the time limit. Only nitpick would be that the gameplay felt a bit shallow and could definitely use some more mechanics in the future, but I could see a lot of time must have gone into getting it all to work. Great work!

Delivery Derby by eldogg 2020-04-21T12:08:12Z

Quite fun to play, I like the voice over. AI is a bit random but that just kinda adds to the chaos.

Uptime? Nope. by ygrichman 2020-04-21T15:24:24Z

**Thank you everyone for feedback I'll try and answer a few questions.**

@guille It was very difficult to get it done we had to simplify the game concept and take shortcuts (Like the wall of text for help). Thanks for the feedback.

@west Yeah the player model was a fallback as the original attempt was terrifying :scream_cat: (Its head is the statue next to the PC) 2020-04-21 16_22_01-ludum-dare-46 - Lose - PC, Mac & Linux Standalone - Unity 2019.3.10f1 Personal _.png

Neither of us are 3D modellers as i think we proved . Thanks for the feedback.

@toc @gurglesprain @tommeh Definitely agree, we originally planned for there to be more random events such as intruders, external events, DDOS attacks. Which would have increased the challenge, but unfortunately didn't get finished. Thanks for the feedback

@been The smoke signifies a module has broken, so if you bring a new one to the server it will swap it out. Thanks for the feedback.

@edgelord Huh, I'll try to get access to a Mac to test as I just hoped Unity's exporter would've just worked. Thanks for letting me know.

@paul-sinnett @rodi @spawnie @tic Next time I will definitely try to add a better pickup collision, it was annoying me as well . Thanks for the feedback.

@gurglesprain Whoops I added esc as a last minute way of exiting the Windows build, didn't think about that happening. I'll bear that in mind in future. Thanks for the feedback.

@black-flag @carol03x Unfortunately I had a weird input bugs that kept occurring when I had pickup and interact bound to the same button. Probably an annoyingly simple to fix bug, but ran out off time. Thanks for the feedback.

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-21T19:54:36Z

Really enjoyed this, quite meta and interesting. Definitely would like to see a longer version. Gave up at one point as I was trying to guess the CD Key, I removed everything then spotted the image :face_palm:. Hope to see more in the future

The Last Vestige by Clickbait 2020-04-21T18:03:35Z

Great game, I was really caught out by the turrets disappearing, I was doing okay then my turrets disappeared and the enemy waves got huge. Was fun to try and get out of that situation . I'd agree with most other people's suggestions, the only main issue I had was the game locked up my computer when I lost in the Web version. Not marking you down for that though as I know Unity's Web builds are very 'reliable'.

Turtle Daddy by dummydojo 2020-04-21T19:21:00Z

Really professional looking entry, enjoyed it a lot.

DON`T DIE STAY ALIVE! by PenguinBob 2020-04-21T17:37:21Z

Fun to play, I was rubbish best I got was 87. I kept getting unlucky at the edges, living life dangerously  . One suggestion would be to have extra tiles around the edge that you can't walk in but to show the spears approach.

Kitten Catastrophe by Phasm Studios 2020-04-21T19:14:29Z

Very good first entry, graphics and sound are great with fun gameplay. I'm really bad at it, as I am with all games that require fast reactions . Main suggestion would be to make sure you have WASD as well as the arrow keys for controls as that confused me for a little while trying to find the key to jump. Hope to see more from you .

RatJar by PolyOrbit Studio 2020-04-21T18:51:47Z

Really good game, had a lot of fun with it, one of the most polished/complete games I've seen on here so far. Only suggestion would be to add controller support.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Get Stuck In The Loop by el-pepi 2020-10-11T22:38:05Z

Love the use of the theme . Was having fun although I couldn't get past the 3rd level as the wall jumping is hard to activate consistently. Otherwise great game.

Roller Riches by dxk2294 2020-10-12T00:06:17Z

Really enjoyed that, ended up playing it for almost half an hour. Really well polished, only issue I had was the performance when reaching the endgame was struggling in WebGL (Not suprising).

Circle Golf by CG_Fred 2020-10-15T18:19:15Z

Quite fun and impressive for 12 hours work. Great Job!

Directive 399WH by ygrichman 2020-10-18T17:40:10Z

@voidsay Weird not seen any UI issues so far, what browser/resolution are you running? Also I've added a Linux build now, and attempted a MacOS build with that guide you linked. No idea if the mac build works though. Thanks

Directive 399WH by ygrichman 2020-10-18T21:18:06Z

@voidsay I saw the text do that a few times when trying to setup textmesh pro. It caused all sorts of issues and its documentation is almost non existent. Might not use it next time. Character movement in the ship is just rigid body with apply force. I think the cube game used Unity's character controller

Directive 399WH by ygrichman 2020-10-21T18:56:11Z

@shaolin-dave It is a custom font but it is included and I've tested it on computers that definitely don't have it installed. So I'm not really sure, I can't seem to recreate the bug with any hardware I have. It was my first time using TextMesh Pro so i'm guessing its something I've done wrong with that. Thanks for the suggestion though

Hammy the Hamster by FlyingKiwi 2020-10-11T23:07:09Z

I'm usually not a fan of platformers, but yours has great art and a nice unique mechanic to keep it interesting. Great Work!

Spatium Locus by ThorPalsson 2020-10-11T23:36:13Z

Same crashes that others were reporting, but love the environment and the reflections even if my GPU didn't  Would have been interested in what's in the middle but I only managed to find one set of symbols then it crashed.

Dinosaur Game Level 1 by JDcierski 2020-10-18T03:56:00Z

Well that escalated quickly ! Some very good level variations that surprised me (I especially liked the level where the platforms had physics and becoming the button). One of my favourites this year

Looping Robot by zilulu 2020-10-16T02:09:11Z

Great puzzle game with nice progression of mechanics. Music didn't bother me personally felt it fit with the game, obviously could use a bit more variation but its a Compo game. I'd agree about the reset being annoying losing all your commands. Otherwise quite fun to play through.

Energy Flow by LuckyLuke47 2020-10-16T02:22:55Z

Unique game love the electronics angle. Not sure if the levels are meant to have a win condition, I got the music to play but then nothing happened. Collision was a little sensitive but not too bad, in Unity I'd recommend using a circle collider for the player character (even if they are a square), helps stop harsh collisions. Nice original idea

Outside The Loop by Peace Of Cake Games 2020-10-12T00:16:20Z

Nice little game, could use a more distinctive level end block texture as that took me a while to figure out, but maybe that's intentional so you discover the world loops maybe? Definitely could see some potential for interesting level designs with those mechanics. Great first Jam game!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Mr. Final Boss by Oroshibu 2022-04-09T09:21:39Z

One of the most polished Jam games I've ever seen. Love the art style and effects!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Self Golf by SecondDimension 2018-04-24T12:26:12Z

Was following your development posts during the jam, love the finished product.

Minigame Monsters by xmatos 2018-04-26T11:34:26Z

Game was really fun, I didn't think the combo would work when reading the description but it really was quite a cool mechanic/combination. Also great job on the audio really added to the pressure.

Culinary Creature Combat by ygrichman 2018-04-24T19:22:01Z

@elbcore Good catch on that bug, I added the attack names last thing and didn't even notice they didn't change as they had been all the same during development, whoops. Anyway I've patched that now. Thanks for the feedback, we're enjoying your game as well 🙂.
