Really charming mood and visuals. I had a grate time growing this tree !

arscene 2022-04-04 23:26

Really solid entry, calming mood, nice visuals, well done!

pwnofprophecy 2022-04-05 00:16

Very chill and engaging clicker. Nice job!

mnikn 2022-04-05 02:56

Awesome art, at the end of game my wrist is borken......Anyway greate piece of work!

ossi 2022-04-05 05:10

What an unbelievably charming game! The art is beautiful and the music really sets the mood so perfectly. I love all the little story bits as you progress through the game, and all the events really add a lot of life into this world even though you're just looking at a tree. The background changing as you upgraded stuff was a really nice touch too.

The only thing I would want is a way to upgrade multiple times at once, since getting into the 1000's made it a bit tedious to get to the next noticeable boost in gathering speed. I really loved playing this, amazing job!

akitl 2022-04-05 11:13

yours sprites are pretty cool !

boaromayox 2022-04-05 23:05

The pixel art in this game, is so well-detailed and brilliantly top-notch, especially the detail put into the tree and its fruits! The atmosphere is so calming as well, another positive. I could probably play this music when I feel like sleeping.

I was almost about to feel like this game was going to be limited in terms of upgrades the player was going to get and it almost did feel repetitive, aside from the few harvest robberies. But when the third broker came in, and I hired a guard to defend the tree, that woke me up real quick, as a siege was about to happen, and I ended up losing, getting the bad ending.

In all, this is one of the better games I've played so far in this jam! Amazing work!

jonathan-fischer 2022-04-06 00:21

I love the art in this game! It made me sad to cut it down in the end, but I really enjoyed everything! Great job!

polymathld 2022-04-06 01:18

Clicker games are totally my guilty pleasure genre, absolutely love them. This one was great, awesome pixel art, a surprising amount of content. I eventually got to what I think is the good ending. One of my favorite games so far this jam.

bloodbane 2022-04-06 07:52

A clicker game, nice entry for this jam.

aeveis 2022-04-06 09:00

fun clicker game, really liked the progression you have in the game. I think I got to a point where it would be very hard for me lose (oops I was wrong here). I got the 2nd ending. I did not get the axes though... Impressed by the amount of art and events that kept appearing in the game and the different possible endings. Nice job!

How many endings are there? I kind of want to see, but it does take a while.

she-wrote 2022-04-06 12:27

An excellent game, I love it. Great atmosphere, story, and the use of the theme is amazing

nikolay-fedotenko 2022-04-06 14:20

I really like music and arts! Quite atmospheric game

pat-cleaver 2022-04-06 14:28

This is really great! Lovely art, nice music, an excellent entry all around. Congrats!

okamit 2022-04-06 14:33

Really charming idle game, beautiful graphics (really love the tree - from a fellow tree-lover!) and I really love that houses and all the things you buy appear in the background! The music is really atmospheric as well.

The only thing I miss is the possibility to buy things in bulk, like 10, 50 at a time and perhaps a fruit/water per second-label as well.

Overall, really great work! Thanks for sharing, will definitely remember "the tree game"!

okamit 2022-04-06 14:50

I replayed the game a few times and got all the endings! (Or at least 3 different including the true ending and ending 2!)

Loved the endgame haha, great work!

kromeboy 2022-04-06 15:16

Love the visual and the variety of options for a cliker but is kind of hard to know how to set up an army. The tooltips doesn't seam to work every tipe.

yogurtthehorse 2022-04-06 15:26

This game is hilarious, interesting and with beautiful music. It's sad you don't have much of grades (but seems like you don't comment other games much)

I wish more people could see that game, thank you for this title, I really enjoyed playing it!

sipfindel 2022-04-06 15:50

What a ride. I think it was a nice take on clicker genre. The mood was captivating. I had one playthrough and I might come back to try and get the other endings.

lucavazz 2022-04-06 19:52

Very nice clicker with stunning graphics.

Maybe the continue button from dialog should be in a different place then where you spam click to collect from the tree 😅

momo-hunter 2022-04-06 20:13

Nice game, really addictive and great music

13x666 2022-04-06 20:39

Well, growing a kingdom from a tiny sapling and then ruining it with maniacal consumption is a nice way to end an evening. The game is captivating, surprising (didn't see the screenshots, so I was indeed surprised by the progression) and absolutely beautiful!

nyanpierre 2022-04-06 21:26

my finger hurt... But i like the game ! I am the most influential person of the kingdom :)

renge 2022-04-06 21:41

Nice cookie clicker type game! I enjoyed the twist with having to fight off hordes of enemies with your soldiers. I had some issues with figuring out what some of the upgrades did, but other than that and some minor balancing this is a really nice game! Nice art too!

mateusboga 2022-04-06 21:49

Sorry for the late responses guys. I am a bit overwhelmed by the attention this game is getting, and I am myself recovering from how exausted this jam made me, but don't worry it's in a good way. Thank you all so much for your feedback! I truly appreciate it! Even if I don't reply, I read all the comments. Thank you!

@ossi Thank you! Yea I've received a lot of complaints about this, I need to add a way to buy things in bulk, maybe Buy 10 button or just a macro.

@aeveis Thanks! The game has 3 endings, including the one where you lose the battle. Speaking of which, yea I'm sorry about the balancing of the battles, they need to be slower x)

@boaromayox Thank you so much! Yea hireing a single guard as is right now is basically a death sentence lol, as I said above, I need to do better balancing on the battles, or at least explain to the player that they need to always have at least a dozen guards. Again, an option to buy in bluk would be a good addition.

@lucavazz Yea I've also received complaints about this, I might make a delay so you can't click the button for about the first .5 seconds or so.

@nyanpierre Thanks! Sorry about your finger!

@okamit Thank you so much! As I said above, I am going to add a way to buy things in bulk, I think that was the biggest criticism I got of the game so far. I'm glad you enjoyed all the endings ^^

@yogurtthehorse Thank you so much! I will be playing a lot more games soon, and try to stream on twitch too, but right now I'm still too tired for that.

Thanks again everyone!

peachtreeoath 2022-04-06 22:32

Very engaging incremental! It took me 4 attempts before I figured out what the strategy should be and was able to clear it and get the true ending.

This game really parallels how RTS' feel to me, whether its AOE or SC. You start off just harvesting and having a great time watching your city grow. But eventually armies come in and ruin your day and you realize you need to spend time and resources building an army - something you don't really care to do but you have to do for the sake of your economy. So I think you actually modeled an RTS experience down to a raw, incremental format which is very cool and not something I've seen often.

The shading of the fruit on the underside of the tree is such a nice touch that I don't think a lot of people would have considered.

I really like that even after you got the castle, there is still room to grow the tree, and exponentially slower at that. It's nice to feel safe and grow the tree in peace rather than ending the game as soon as you got the castle.

Having to deal with an actual threat put a lot of pressure on me to optimize which is something you normally don't have to deal with in an idle game. I thought this was one of the best incrementals I've played in recent times and very much enjoyed it, well done! You should check out my game too, it's also a visual incremental and a similar style of ending :)

chaoscomposer 2022-04-07 06:23

Very nice game! The gameplay is fine enough as a clicker, but what really stands out here is how you subvert the typical absurdity of clicker games through the story elements, which is very effective and can come to a brutal end. The pixel art is also phenomenally done, the game looks absolutely stunning. I played through twice to see two endings. Definitely a very solid entry!

shivart 2022-04-07 20:10

Nice graphics and mood! Great job!

arzi 2022-04-07 22:17

Can I just say wow? The art is excellent and the gameplay evolves from simple clicker to a more narrative experience so fluently. I loved every second of it, right down to the bitter end! Amazing job!

wfmg 2022-04-08 02:42

SPOILERS: I played through it and while I won't be sour or all negative, I won't be as blindly positive as others have been. I like the graphics. The mix between more detailed pixel art and flat-shaded stuff is perfect. Best part of the game. The music is really enjoyable too. Atmospheric and rich. However, the game is just TOO SLOW. I had to spend thousands of mouse clicks of my MX 518 to get through the game and there was no way I was going to do a second playthrough to get the other ending. We need to be able to buy more than one unit at a time. At the start, I felt confused because it was so very slow until I started buying a lot of fruit pickers. Then, later, it was too slow to move the narrative along. If this had been a commercial game, the pacing would've been more appropriate, but here, it felt maybe 5-10 times too slow.

It's hard in these variable-increasing games like clickers and RPGs to get the progression right, but the army part was just pointless. I had well over 100 guards, a bunch of walls and cannons, and it was literally instaclick to win. Then it was just sit back and wait for the next stage of watering. I didn't quite understand how to water the tree at first, but I figured it out pretty quickly. I'm not sure if watering the tree is necessary to increase the growth rate of the fruit, or to progress the story, and when something requires such substantial effort, that should be more clear. Moving on to the story, I think it's interesting, but I got ending 2 because it didn't sit right with me. I see the euphemism being made and I do not intend to let my political views affect my opinion of the story. However, it just didn't seem believable. I mean, the killing was only for defense. I was employing 1036 fruit pickers and 800 water carriers. I was creating lots of jobs. I can see the water being an issue depending on just where this tree is located, but if this is about the euphemism, the rivers grow larger as the wealth of the kingdom increases. And then, the fruits of this magical tree being the only thing to eat shouldn't be a problem. It is the fruit of our labour and it is everything we gain. If this were merely a literal fruit tree, it would not suck up enough resources to be unprofitable, and it would be far from the kingdom's only investment. We'd be buying orchards along with the aqueducts and walls. It's pretty hard to keep the euphemistic from the literal. In the city they mention, how do the people there create food, before the water dries up? Do they work? Or does it just... *grow on trees?*

Still, I don't mean to end on a sour note. I will again commend you on the art and music, and the idea is very cool. It's just that the story is a bit rough and not believable, and though it obviously isn't a large game, the less you have to say, the more important each word you speak is. Not that I believe myself to be the story master or anything. My game has a pretty low amount of dialogue in its context and part of that limit came down to my imagination. It's pretty cheesy too. :P Anyway, good job!

daveco 2022-04-08 23:34

I never knew I liked the cookie clicker genre until I played this. Seriously incredible in every way. Graphics? Check. Gameplay? Check. Upgrades? Check. Clicking? Check.

mhorth 2022-04-09 00:17

I didn't expect to enjoy a clicker game, but this one was well designed! The art and the music are wonderful!

The only critique I can leave you is very minor: It felt... weird when the purchasable options disappeared from the vendors if I didn't have enough fruit to buy them. Others stayed in the list and turned red, which feels more appropriate. But again, that's a tiny tiny thing and really didn't take anything away from the game. Nice job!

cornfab 2022-04-09 00:25

Any plans to release the music? It's so good

logicon211 2022-04-09 01:17

Very nice art, the music was pretty calming too. My run kind of ended unexpectedly, a battle happened but as I clicked to confirm it just flashed instantly to a game over screen

elysiagriffin 2022-04-09 10:45

Didn't think I'd have much fun with an auto clicker mobile esk type game but this was actually so fun and relaxing... but then I got attack and lost a war and lost everything which all happened so suddenly which is kind of sad, would of loved to keep going but I guess that's the "inevitable" part i guess :')

yorsh 2022-04-09 15:11

I really don't like auto clickers so can't tell if the gameplay is good or not, but it looks amazing and it has a really fine relaxing mood that I enjoyed a lot. Not sure what's inevitable tho, I'm guessing people being jealous of the tree and attacking it ?

agrimes 2022-04-09 22:29

An enjoyable clicker. Went back to get both endings.

lbrande 2022-04-10 20:53

The graphics are very nice and adding confrontation to a clicker game is an interesting twist. The end comes a bit too sudden however.

kepsert 2022-04-10 21:25

I was addicted to clicker games but got over it. Now I'm addicted again!

milq 2022-04-11 16:10

Impressive! The game is amazing! How have you been able to make this art in just 72 hours? In addition, the game is very fun, it has my full appreciation! Great game! Congratulations!

jvdwijk 2022-04-12 23:21

Great idle game! Could do with some usability tweaks (buy 10x upgrades) and would be cool to see your next upgrade or milestone to have something you can work towards! was a lot of fun!

haayaargh 2022-04-12 23:38

Incremental (but not so much clickers) are my cup of tea so I enjoyed this one. As many before mentioned, being able to have x10 or x100 clicks would be great. What I would see is an ability to see detailed tooltips, I know this is a mix of a clicker and a short narrative, so exact multipliers are not that much important, nonetheless, it would be great to know what to click to get fruits most efficiently. As for the army, on the first run, a second after I got an army interface, I was attacked without being able to do anything and lost, so I think there either should be a warning on the upcoming attack or some delay after the army is unlocked. I don't think the theme is particularly strong in this game.

I won't go into detail on pixel art as it is simply superb.

Eventually, I managed to get a True Ending, so I'm pretty happy with it. Great job overall :apple:

hexstart 2022-04-13 21:01

I find the idea of a tree-based clicker quite evocative. Great atmosphere.

elendow 2022-04-15 22:47

Great entry, a nice clicker with a good ambientation and cool upgrades.

I loved it, good job.

4ahizon 2022-04-16 03:45

Like the mood of the game. Game play is simple but works. Click based game are not my thing but it is a beautiful game. Worth check out.

shrillwhip 2022-04-16 19:32

Amazing game, my favorite gam so far this jam. The gameplay loop is well thought out and engaging, the graphics are fantastic and the music is extremely pleasant to listen to. Overall it was a very comfy, soothing gameplay experience.

My only criticism is that the battle happened in a flash, and I lost all my progress instantly. It didn't seem like I even had time to do anything.

Btw, thanks for playing our game on your stream, I really enjoyed your voice acting! :D

mateusboga 2022-04-17 12:40

@shrillwhip Thank you so much! I already have a post-jam version where you actually have time to process what's going on during battles lol

strega 2022-04-17 22:18

Amazingly executed incremental game! The art, audio, and mood are really great. There's so much content and the automation felt good. Unfortunately I lost very suddenly when a war happened, but overall was lots of fun.

amerigo-gazaway 2022-04-18 21:42

Wow the pixel art is gorgeous, solid entry and love the vibe of this game. I'm trying the learn pixel art myself and you really have a unique style/aesthetic. Your itch page is also impressive, lots of awesome looking games on there. Great work!

coleslaughter 2022-04-19 06:40

Whew, I'm glad I stuck this one out until the end! I love the twist you put on this little idle game. :) I will say though, you AAAAAALLLLLLLLMOST lost me near the end, as I was going through a loooooong stretch of time without much changing, but I feel like that's a tough flow to get right for an idle game, especially if it's made in a weekend.

Like I said though, I'm glad I finished it! I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this one.

jamtempisto 2022-04-19 14:25

Nice game!

It took me a while to discover de Castle upgrade, because I kept using all the fruits, and the option only appears when you have 1000 fruits available.

Maybe you could always show it as an option, but blacked out if you have less than 1000. Perhaps only show it if the tree gets to a minimum size.

BTW, I thought that building a castle would make some king NPC appear. Reading the dialogue I was like "wait, I'm the king now?"

The fruit pickers above a certain number (300?) don't seem to make much of a difference to the picking rate, I had more than 1000 but they always missed many fruits on the tree.

Cannons are OP, maybe they should be more expensive heheh

papaver 2022-04-19 23:43

Cool clicker game! It's nice to see the number go up and the tree getting bigger! And very convenient that the Water Carrier, the Fruit Picker only need one payment to continue to work forever :D

Very nice graphics! I also enjoyed how the graphics evolved during the game. Nice soothing music as well, although I think it stopped at some point.

I liked the hover-over explanations, but I missed them when I already had bought one of the items/services, because sometimes I wanted to check again what something did. The guards were not se clear to me, so in the first battle I lost before I knew what was happening. The next time I just bought many guards, and then nothing happened for quite a while. At some point I had 250 Water Carriers, 1000 Fruit Pickers, 100 Fertilizers, a lot of guards, walls and a castle. It still took quite a while to find the true ending after that.

My hand hurts a little from all the clicking. Well done! Great entry

oda 2022-04-20 22:17

Very nice incremental game!

Mechanics are good and art is amazing! Really well done, I loved the twist for the real ending, haha

amberfall92 2022-04-21 01:28

when it gets going really fast, it's a bit painful to look at all the fruit and numbers like that. But the art is nice, especially that tile set for the tree. Really nice work!

lerc 2022-04-21 03:44

I don't understand why these clickers are fun, but they are. Took a turn for the dark at the end.

evgeney24 2022-05-26 16:22

Nice graphics and mood!

roroto-sic 2024-04-14 07:31

Very fun game, and soooo great pixel art ! i love it !!
