This was really fun and suprisingly long!

Main criticism would that there isn't any feedback of getting hit by the enemies and the rifle weapon felt pretty weak. But don't get me wrong, really one of the better games I've played yet.

paetramon 2021-04-27 19:10

Really cool, enjoyed the art, atmosphere, and especially the whale sounds on that first bridge section. I thought the wait time between shots for the rifle was a little long for the damage it was doing, I ended up fighting the waves with the pistol just because I could shoot faster. But I really liked it! Was cool to end up underwater for the final fight

rawb 2021-04-27 19:17

This was really cool. I love the look of everything in the water.

kelvination 2021-04-27 19:20

Cool game, I enjoyed the art style, felt like a good ol' N64 Goldeneye game. But the overall game play wasn't super exciting in my opinion. I don't think that adding health to enemies makes them harder to kill, just more tedious than anything. I would much rather fight 50 enemies that take 1 shot to kill, than fight 1 enemy that takes 50 shots to kill. But the level design and the environment around it were great. Good job!

mariszin 2021-04-27 19:25

After getting shotgun, it still felt it was faster using the pistol, too long first survival room although there is no moment You are afraid about health

chrisap 2021-04-27 21:31

The toilet mechanic cracked me up, and in the same moment I got pretty scared. Good game for a first time jammer, really enjoyed the boss fight, it made me think of minecraft fighting the dragon at the end. Congrats on finishing your first game jam! Hopefully we'll see more! <3

habibirb 2021-04-28 14:09

At first it was pretty fun but it got really repetitive and slow. The newer guns didn't feel more powerful, I had an easier time using the pistol. The graphics are pretty nice.

cubanfrog 2021-04-28 15:10

Very moody and cohesive game! The opponents were quite too tough and slow, and the shotgun felt useless. The long 180 second monster section was too long. The underwater section was very impressive and it made the starting slog worth the playthrough.

his-games 2021-04-28 15:34

pretty nice game, even though I'm not much of an Fps guy. My main feedback is give the enemies much less health, and more impact on shooting them. Nice 3d models, too.

lsdlx 2021-04-28 15:36

Amazing, well done! I got actually scared during the long fight level ahah Mood was great! Lack of soundtrack I believe but the sounds added were nice especially the underwater scream (and toilet flush)

yamzho 2021-04-28 15:38

Good job overall. That's a lot of clicking during the zombie (?) assault ! :)

michael-grieshofer 2021-04-28 15:41

Man this game is awesome. I love the setting but the gameplay is just very shallow. Some mechanic like ammo or reloading would have done wonders for this game but I get that that is very time consuming to make. good job

hi-im-greg 2021-04-28 15:47

THe swap to underwater was really well done and a nice change of pace. However the area with the countdown was really long and not very fun. I feel like you should have given the shotgun an AOE or something to make it feel different and useful in that section. The audio and the mood of the game was great, felt like playing an old school FPS. Good entry!

substain 2021-04-28 15:50

things i liked - the toilet scene - barrels were more dangerous than the enemies (but I only got to the 180s room, don't know about the rest of the game) - the movement animation could've also been a dance

but mostly - the barrels hit effect

great game!

eugenik 2021-04-28 20:21

Loved the art, and the mood is awesome.

tyler-roberts 2021-04-28 22:13

Neat game, the enemies looked very cool and fit the theme very well

threeli 2021-04-28 22:16

10/10 - would open empty lockers again. Seriously though, this is a great seed of a project that could become something very fun and horrific. I'm not 100% on the vibe you are going for, but I think the zombie divers could maybe use a bit of the Jacob's Ladder treatment (though I do like the retro visual style you've angled towards).

I assume you know what's lacking, but generally I think the biggest thing you need more of is sound. Not music, just more ambience (which I think might detract from the isolation element) and sfx. I can't tell for sure, but it seemed like the shotgun had a much lower DPS than the pistol?

The ride down in the elevator was dragging up some primal fears in me. More of that please. This has great potential and I hope you'll continue working on it!

jmartinez-gamedev 2021-04-28 22:27

I had fun with the shooting. The camera wobble while moving throwed me off a bit. Also I would have liked a mouse sensitivity slider for this kind of game.

marshal 2021-04-29 00:18

Really liked the game. The only down thing in it is that the Rifle is pretty much useless compared to the pistol, but the Leviathan boss fight at the end was super cool!!! Nice entry

2021-04-29 07:02

Yeah this was really fun. Love the toilet flush and the barrel hit effect :) Reminded my of the old games in a very nice way.

jgur 2021-04-29 08:44

I really enjoyed this, but I do think there are some areas to be improved. I've seen comments above point this out but I feel that there should be feedback when shooting enemies, and maybe a more challenging boss fight at the end. But I do definitely feel this is a great game and has some great potential if taken the right amount of time and developed nicely. Now the sound was fantastic, from the guns to the spooky ambient sounds that really made me feel like I was playing Subnautica again. This was good, Great Work!

metalfox-dioxymore 2021-04-29 10:51

This is a great (and surprisingly long, for a jam) game ! Creating a 3D shooting game is not easy, but that's a good base to build something even more awesome =). There are some little things that could be improved though : - Controls are good, but the character doesn't stop instantly when I release a move button, it's really frustrating. If it's on purpose, because you wanted to keep the momentum going for a bit, please, at least reduce it ^^'. Here, I have the impression that the character takes an extra step each time I want to stop. - You didn't considered rate of fire when balancing the weapon. That makes the pistol having the best DPS, and therefore I have no reason to use anything else. - Waiting a certain amount of time is boring and frustrating ^^'. Give me a number of waves to defeat instead, at least, this way I can control the pace of the game !

Otherwise, that was a really solid game =) ! Really good job !

branton-lansdale 2021-04-29 13:18

Sound is always a big point of interest for me. there was a lack of sounds where i expected there to be some. Some of the ones you have are nice, but they could definitely use some work. I like the progression of the level, and the set up for the boss at the end. Even without text or voice lines, i could kinda figure out what was going on. At least i put together a story in my head lol

codeforjoycaro 2021-04-29 16:07

I liked the feel of the controls and the shooting.

zimennik 2021-04-29 18:50

Athmosphere is great! Final boss is a really nice touch!

digital-bacon 2021-04-30 02:44

Good game, shades of Bioshock looking out the window and seeing whales swimming :whale2: Good effort!

rubixnoob13 2021-05-01 15:53

Good game, although I agree that the shotgun damage should be increased, especially with the much slower fire rate than the pistol. The atmosphere was amazing, although I think it could even use MORE of the random thumps and creaks thrown into the background. Really solid game, and the final boss fight was fun. I don't know if I even got hit during any of the fights, maybe ramp up the movement speed of the enemies so they start slow then get faster over time to make it more of a challenge. Just my thoughts :D

joeshanahan 2021-05-01 18:24

Great mood, and I loved the effect created by the textures and the walls - really evoked those early shooter games like DOOM. I died in the room with the waves of enemies before the timer got to zero.

lrvstudios 2021-05-02 20:00

What a immersive game! I loved the concept, and the idea to bring us to find leviatã, mechanics are simple - kinda miss a inventory - but the game itself is great! Amazing work.

andrewkennedy 2021-05-02 20:48

Really great work for the time constraint - I was not expecting to go underwater at the end of the game!

The mood was great, and I loved the moment where you walk into the hallway and see the whales. It would have been *really* cool to have a scripted moment where the leviathan swam by.

The shotgun did feel like a downgrade due to its rate of fire, like a few others have said. Still, it was fun to switch it up so that my finger didn't get tired from clicking super fast.

Good job!

mza 2021-05-04 21:15

Although it was super easy, I found it super satisfying. Never once did i loose health. I wished the leviathan wouldve attacked me somehow though. Sound design is amazing.

haiyoooo 2021-05-07 07:40

Amazing two-liner intro hook to the game. Great setting and world building! Enjoyed going underwater close to the end of the game!

justcamh 2021-05-09 01:30

Hey. I made a video of your game. I hope, you like it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXa1tb-HJWU

hempuli 2021-05-16 18:05

Nice! The gameplay was quite simple but I kind of liked that because it meant I could more easily see the entire game. The underwater visuals were the high point of the game, I'd have happily watched some more whale silhouettes glide underwater! I wish there had been some deeper ambient sounds to compliment the deep-sea atmosphere. Good work!
