LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Billy Nauseous by cake 2021-05-02T15:10:08Z

great art style, fantastic modelling. I really love the dynamic of heading down a monster's body, in frantic shooter gameplay. The enemies are juicy to kill, and it controls well. There seems to be a bit of a bug around invincibilty, where at the start of the level you can't kill anything, but that is insignificant.

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-27T18:28:22Z

tremendous innovative game - top 10 coming your way!

Upset Crab by 43sam 2021-04-29T16:02:44Z

Nice, short game, with a lovely overall aesthetic. The attack feels kinda clunky sometimes, and the combat is sometimes slow, but generally I liked this entry!

Dungeoneer by notApollogising 2021-05-18T15:50:16Z

definitely work on the art and animation, but well made otherwise. Good job!

Ramón by jjcp 2021-05-02T15:05:53Z

Really nice asethetic, with fun fast-paced action gameplay to go with. I can imagine this as a cool local-coop game, with a big ship and 10 things to manage at once. Very nice entry, you got alot done in such a short time.

Pheromones by Shakedimus 2021-05-02T11:30:38Z

Very nice, very innovative gimmick. While the ants are annoying and uncooperative, that adds to the charm of the game - battling the mechanics in a desperate attempt to escape. The graphics are nice, giving the game a probably unintentional atari feel. If you decide to take the gimmick further - and I suggest you do, it's a very cool idea, albeit in need of fine-tuning - maybe you can also recreate other aspects of ants' behaviour - maybe a bridging mechanic, or a mechanic where you send out your workers to gather resources. Very cool game idea.

Tap Trick by Salman_Shh 2021-04-28T17:20:05Z

sometimes jank and bugged, but super neat game otherwise. Very nice asthetic!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-28T16:44:07Z

amazing art and gameplay. The polish in affecting and interacting with the environment is outstanding! Very well made, well rounded game. The animations are super fluid, and it's a joy to play. The level design does need work, as I see a few other people have said. Definitely need some more introduction levels, to really get the game in motion, because it feels like it drops you into the deep end too quickly. Very innovative, great idea. Love to see a full game!

In Too Deep by JoeShanahan 2021-04-27T18:03:16Z

cool art style, and it feels super satisfying to play. Very well done!

In case of recursion: by TC5550 2021-05-02T12:17:29Z

I got up to the level with the map, and I just couldn't work it out. Great game, with well thought-out puzzles. Would be great with sound effects! I spent along while on this game, and I had great fun! This is the only game I have seen like it, this jam!

Deepdish Deeptopia by Bodsworthcm 2021-04-27T17:58:30Z

there is definitely room for more polish, and the movement is really buggy and rough sometimes, but overall it is a very nice, stylish game. I really like the diversity in enemies - very solid entry!

LD48 by Zivfo 2021-05-02T11:54:17Z

Very well made game! I really love the ui design, and the sound effects specifically. The interfaces are a joy to interact with - which is fantastic with a ui heavy game like this. The progression is smooth, and what this game lacks in action it makes up for in character. If you were to take this further, you should add more options to upgrade your business, like buying more mining rigs, or faster mining, or maybe even different locations with different types of ores. One of the best games I've played this jam, well done!

EDIT: I see there are upgrades in the screenshots. Is this something that happens later into the game? I got moderately far, but I didn't see that.

Blackout by Frasse 2021-04-29T15:59:08Z

fantastic game! The art and music are on-point! I sometimes got frustrated that I kept on clicking on stuff accidentally, by I battled through to the end! Well done!

Sunken Dungeon by Pascone 2021-04-28T16:10:48Z

really fun, I super love the sound effects especially. Gameplay is easy to pick up, lots of fun items and treasure. Very solid entry, well done.

Task Surgeon by Zyger 2021-05-08T17:43:52Z

Pretty fun game, the art is very neat. I liked the variety in minigames, but they really don't feel balanced, in that some are very easy, some are really fiddly, and some are basically impossible (like how the kidney one takes an entire 30 seconds to fill). The progression, with levels also feels unnecessary, with the minigames just repeating. I feel like this would be much better with just a endless mode, where it throws minigames at you and speeds up. Overall, very nice entry, great art and sound, and great work on this original jam entry.

Driller McJones by manuRGamedev 2021-05-02T11:21:24Z

There is alot of really good things about this game, it's very original, it's fun, and it has a cute artstyle. My main critiscm is that somethings feel kinda rough sometimes, like somethings are super polished, like destroying the ground or picking up a collectable heart, but some things are just neglected, like the bullets just dissapearing on hit, no particles or animation or sound effect. The issue with super polishing like you have means that you have polish everything to the same degree, otherwise it feels sometimes coarse and unfinished. You can probably tell though, that's super nit-picky, and I really had to work to find some critiscm to give. Other than that, it is a super neat game, and I rated highly in every category! I bet this will do well!

Deeper Blue Sea by betovf 2021-05-02T17:21:42Z

Controls kinda wonkily, but I liked it nonetheless. A nice, short, fun experience, and a nice spin on the theme!

Dungeon : Developer's Away by efeckk2 2021-05-02T17:24:12Z

I really like the artstyle of this game, the animations are good and the different parts are distinctive. The dungeon format is good, and it's an interesting way of making multi-room dungeons. Would have loved a minimap, as I sometimes got lost!

Deeper Well by Feraligatr 2021-05-08T18:35:14Z

AMAZING game! I really loved this entry, and I can confidently say it's one of my favourites! Something about the sheer simplicity, the relaxing music, the simple (but not too simple) yet effective models, and the relaxation of just building out your town makes me want to sing its praises. I honestly really loved this. Something just resonated well, and I think you've done a spectacular job. PLEASE expand on this! And, well, that's deep.

The Hole by Eugenio 2021-05-03T09:23:09Z

Looks really good, from the cover! Shame I can't play it with my windows pc though!

Deep Fall by fire_soldier888 2021-05-15T16:55:43Z

Great job! I really love how responsive and snappy the controls are!

@halogen first ludum dare! I've done a couple of game jams before, but none as good as this one!

Down to the Core by his-games 2021-05-15T16:49:46Z

@phi very sorry about that! I discovered an error with how I was caching my collectables (eg, the xp). I won't bore you with the details, but it should work now. Thank you for telling me about this, and for taking the time to play my game!

I'm 14 and by Krac3r 2021-05-08T17:51:52Z

Well done for entering! Making any game is extremely hard, you should be proud! This is a very cool idea, and a nice spin on the theme. I really like the platforming controller and the way it plays, and the cool, laid-back gameplay is great! Very good job!

Jump & Run by mortalslayer24 2021-05-02T11:35:17Z

Well made platformer, it controls well. I like the difficulty of the game - hard, but not too hard. As people have mentioned, the camera needs some more work to frame the movement a bit better, maybe add a "crouch", where if you hold S, or down arrow, for long enough the camera pans downwards. Overall, I think you did well on this game. Good job!

Ariel Cleanomancer and the Eldritch Sweep by alyd asmar 2021-04-30T17:44:58Z

love the graphics! Great game too!

Depth of Death by KenForest 2021-04-28T15:34:42Z

pretty nice game, even though I'm not much of an Fps guy. My main feedback is give the enemies much less health, and more impact on shooting them. Nice 3d models, too.

In the darkness by RollCreators 2021-04-27T17:52:24Z

pretty fun game, nice entry!

Whatever It takes by BurnerReborn 2021-04-27T18:18:10Z

Very inventive idea! I'd love to see this go further. I did find some bugs - like how you can infinitely jump if you clip yourself in a wall, but, hey, 2 day game jam, what you going to do.

Trail Of Pigs by Stopsignal 2021-05-03T09:28:18Z

Really loved this entry! The animations and sound effects work wonders in making the game feel alive! Great gameplay and artstyle too. I'd advise rating other peoples game - that way you get spotted and rated! Good luck!

Select browser on your itch page. I really want to play!

Graphite Journey by pnkvrt 2021-05-02T11:07:00Z

great art style! I think if you fine-tuned this, added animations, this could be a fantastic commercial game.

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-04-27T18:08:08Z

very amazing retro aesthetic, and the gameplay is very well polished. I think this could've benefitted more from a pixel-perfect camera and vignette, but that's really nitpicking. Very nice, well rounded game! I know this game will do well!

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-04-30T17:41:58Z

the graphics are beautiful but the game is quite frustrating. It is a super neat, innovative gimmick and I would love to see this go further!

R.O.B.t. by AhSpike 2021-04-28T16:28:35Z

very nice game, kinda laggy on my computer. I super like the atmosphere and mood, and the animations. It gives it stop-motion vibes, it works really well. Very good job, great work!

Let's get to the core! by Dandy7 2021-05-16T10:35:25Z

Very nice game! Cool artstyle! And our projects have similar names, so I gotta give a higher rating for that.

LD49 — Unstable

ABC by Dinwy 2021-10-06T17:19:29Z

Nice game, don't see many hexagonal strategy games in LD. I thought it was pretty fun, and entertaining, and I played it until I died. A good tip I have to you is to always be lenient towards the player - they should ALwAYS have the upper hand. What I'm thinking of in particular is the jamming. As a gimmick, it is really frustrating, as losing an interaction should always be your fault. Maybe make it timing based, or implement a small lenience system where the player can't get three jams in a row.

Steel Coffin by JLV 2021-10-09T15:17:36Z

Really interesting concept, could have more gameplay to it. If this had more decisions to make, and more alternate routes, this could be a really cool papers-please-esque game.

Haywire by Firebelley 2021-10-09T15:23:04Z

Really nice graphical style, reminds me of Nuclear Throne, with all the pixel-perfect effects and explosions. The juice is soo nice, and the sound design is on-point. Felt so nice to play. The art isn't fantastic, but its good enough, and the effects cover everything up just enough. Overall, it is a really nice entry, scored highly in all categories!

Electro-Twixt by RubixNoob13 2021-10-09T15:25:50Z

The ammo being limited is the most annoying thing, but I think besides that you've done a pretty nice job. The art is pretty cute, and the gimmicks are interesting (if not explained). I hope you take this further!

Devil's Sitter by VPhyre 2021-10-06T17:02:11Z

I found it fun, but a bit confusing (in that I didn't know what item was where and they were a bit indiscernible). The art and animation is really nice, but the slight lack of polish and messiness made an unpleasant contrast. Unfortunately, when you give your game such high standards from the art, you have to apply that everywhere else too! Other than that, it was a really fun game that I really enjoyed - well done!

ch1Pik by NinjaCatz 2021-10-09T15:14:35Z

Really nice game, I liked the puzzle gimmicks and the aesthetics. The main thing was there wasn't much juice in doing stuff and sometimes the moving felt stiff. This is partially because of the moving between squares being kinda slow, and the ease-out wasn't a great fit, and lack of buffer meant you had to space your movement. The art was really nice though (with all the effects and post-processing), and other than the movement, the levels where really fun. Well done!

Go Hard! by bernard-bumblebutt 2021-10-05T16:30:35Z

movement is kinda frustrating at times, but it ironically made it much funner, sort of wrestling against your own playe. Graphics and visual effects were also super nice! Good job!

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-05T15:27:43Z

really nice, kinda frustrating at times and I had to give up in the end. I really like the stylization, and nice spin on the theme!

CATACLYSM by his-games 2021-10-05T05:31:49Z

@nbumgardner I'm sorry to be a bother but can I ask a few questions? I'm hoping to fix some bugs I was experiencing in the build. 1) Was it at all laggy for you, did the jump feel slow and floaty? 2) Was alot of the things zoomed in? (I know you said this but I want to see if it is a resolution thing)

CATACLYSM by his-games 2021-10-06T05:30:52Z

@kaiomoi what do you mean by that? what hitbox is frustrating you?

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Wizard's Chores by mmason 2022-04-19T12:42:27Z

Pretty fun, confusing at first. Could do with some more ui polish, but it was good enough for a playthrough. Good job!

Kalopsia by tailow 2022-04-09T09:07:20Z

Had a crazy amount of mouse sensitivity, so I had to play like my mouse was made out of butter. I really liked the aesthetic, however, and the gimmick is very cool. Was missing some critical polish and points, though, so work on that.

THERE IS A FIRE HERE by yellow 2022-04-13T08:28:22Z

Very cute game, moderately polished and satisfying. Unfortunately, the web version isn't working for me, so I had to download (the button for cutting wasn't doing anything). Would love to have some more feedback on key actions, like a cutting down animation (I sometimes struggled and thought it wasn't doing anything) even when you can't cut a tree down. When an action is disallowed, you should still have some sort of feedback for it so the player doesn't think the game or their keyboard is broken! Another critical bit of feedback I would like is the fire having more stages in its decline, to gauge the going out more.

The frantic gameplay is well-designed, I think, had the right amount of frantic multitasking, in moving the fire around and gathering wood, and I felt panicked but not frustrated, which is a hard balance to get! Reminds me a lot of overcooked, in a way. I had a lot of fun playing this entry! I liked the theme integration, and the cutesy graphics were an interesting contrast to the fast-paced panic of this game. Well done, have rated highly!

Card O''Clock by Bastienre4 2022-04-19T12:49:08Z

A little confusing, but very fun once I got into it. Well done for getting so much done in such short a time!

Tilted Saloon by Vitor Milioni 2022-04-13T08:35:30Z

The physics annoyed me. It felt too bouncy and floaty at the same time. I still had a blast in spite of this though, and it was a cool mechanic. Definitely tweak the physics, give it more weight. My only other gripe is that the theme isn't anywhere (as far as I can see). Otherwise, good job!

Mr.Filton Deluxe by DS Nahogara 2022-04-08T18:08:36Z

Cool little toy, I enjoyed playing around. There didn't seem to be too much strategy, and I discovered that lots of little guys is really an end-all tactic, but I enjoyed this. I had tons of fun watching my squishy little creations battle it out with the hoards. I'd advise making the manipulation of stats much more obvious somehow, maybe with colours?

DLAY's Buffet by BinaryPrinciple 2022-04-08T05:45:05Z

Short, but very fun! I really enjoyed sending sheep to their doom. It was missing some critical polish in places, but overall felt solid, and the modelling and music is good. Definitely add more content to this, more phases, and maybe types of sheep the god doesn't like, so you have to be wary as to what you choose. I find it ironic that I also made a game about sacrificing sheep to your god too! From a fellow sheep-sacrificing developer, good job!

Cosmic Castaway by Perrin 2022-04-07T16:43:55Z

A cosy point and click game. Sometimes felt awkward to interact with objects, but otherwise felt really clean. The art is very nice, too!

The Inevitable Dominion by Kupnu4 2022-04-08T15:17:02Z

Very nice polish and cleanliness, really bouncy and satisfying to play. I really like the bomb effect, specifically. I will have to take notes!

Save Sin by KillRyusha 2022-04-09T10:24:12Z

Very nice artwork, really love the style and tone. Was missing critical polish in places so it felt rough sometimes, but that's to be expected in a game jam. Exceedingly interesting mechanic, and well executed. I enjoyed trying to reach the high scores!

Sorry for the mass ping, but I have worked hard on minimizing bugs, and would be very grateful for a replay! The game is now easier, more adapted for playing, and more importantly: largely works! I tried to squash all the bugs you guys named, and hopefully you can now experience the game I created for you. I'm sorry you had to see it in a rough a state as it was. Naturally, it all came down to two lines of code in the player :/

I Love My Sheep by his-games 2022-04-11T18:20:55Z

I am definitely going to keep working on it, and add things like multi-crafting and other quality of life mechanics. I need to work on the lag, but it was a small price to pay for no crashes. I know how to stop both, but I will need to spend some time doing it. Thank you very much for your feedback, and I'm super happy you enjoyed it so much!

@manio

Bald Dad tries not to die by Re-Lo 2022-04-09T09:17:47Z

Pretty juicy and satisfying, was a lot of fun to mow down the enemies. My main criticism is that the aesthetic didn't match the lighting and particle effects. The darkness didn't really mesh well with the semi-cartoony pixel art or the chiptune sound effects, and the particles felt very rudimentary with just an explosion of pixels. Really nit-picking here, I can't really complain as it kept me playing for a while. Good job!

Bitboy by Proxy-Games 2022-04-14T09:38:17Z

This game confused me a lot. It is polished to hell, and all the little actions feel really satisfying to do, especially the dialogue, and intro, and yet the gameplay and graphics to me felt very below that quality. It seems to have all the makings of a high-quality, polished entry, and yet I cannot rate it that high, because of the mediocre animations and pixel art. It's like you put all your efforts into making it feel really nice to play, and forgot to give it actual graphics. That's why it confused me: its one of the highest quality games in the jam in some places, and yet not even close in some others.

In regards to the gameplay, it seems very simple, and straightforward, with minimal obstacles. The whole theme with the generators seems mostly irrelevant, as you end up running past them anyway, so you don't need to go out of your way.

And yet, it is so polished and satisfying! I really am in two minds here. I think, with some graphic and design improvements, you could make really really exceptional games, but it unfortunately brought it down here.

I know I'm being very critical, and I did enjoy playing it a lot despite my complaints. It is not a bad game by any means, but it is such a mixed bag of quality that I don't know what to think about it.

The Ultimate Martian Roulette by HaaYaargh 2022-04-05T18:11:39Z

Clean UI, and good cinematography (really specific compliments, I know). I really love the gameplay mechanic, even if it felt rough at points, and was in awe at the environments and the modelling quality. Good soundtrack too!

The Clockwork Imperium by subcreation 2022-04-08T15:45:09Z

I had some trouble working out the mechanics, but can still appreciate the music and modelling and mood!

UFOTag by Useless Fish 2022-04-07T16:54:29Z

Nice movement and animations, but the game felt a bit sluggish and uncontrollable overall. I didn't seem to have much of an effect on the bombs at all. But I can relate to this, I spent ages trying to make hitting stuff feel just right in my game! Art is fine, but it has loads of character in the little animations and that brings a lot to the game. Maybe make hitting bombs feel more juicy, and give indicators of how much health?

Mr. Second by Marvis 2022-04-09T10:33:16Z

Very nice graphics and feel, my main gripe is that without screen transitions and music fading/looping changing levels and dying felt very rough. The art is superb, and the player feels nice. I didn't really understand how to utilise the mechanics, so unfortunately I had to stop after level 1, not being able to work out the second one. Other than that though: very good job!
