Oh my god this might be one of my favorite games I've played in this jam! The writing is hilarious! The game looks really nice too- very cool to see an Unreal Engine game! I laughed the first time I died from fall damage and ragdolled. Excellent job on the game! :v:

ahspike 2021-04-26 21:30

Oh wow thank you so much. Yeah making jam games in Unreal is so hard, what with all the bloat you have to strip out, and optimizing required. I'm so glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for playing.

dragonsbeardgames 2021-04-26 21:51

Great writing and voice acting, it was fun hopping around!

tetrapteryx 2021-04-26 22:04

I love the writing! It was very funny, and the robot is adorable. Really impressive work!

blaster391 2021-04-26 22:04

Game looks really nice, framerate is a bit choppy at times however.

The audio is amazing though, it made the robot feel very heavy and really added to the mood of the game

ahspike 2021-04-26 22:14

@blaster391 Thank you glad you liked it. As far as the choppy frame rate. Did you try adjusting the video settings in the options menu? By default they should be set to medium. If you turn the settings down it should run a lot smoother. If it is still choppy then please do let me know. Thanks again for playing.

blaster391 2021-04-26 22:21

Swapping from default to low settings made my framerate go from around 30fps to over 400! This visual quality didn't look too bad although the number of reflections were reduced, so I assume that is what's taking all the resources.

For reference I'm running in 2K resolution

ahspike 2021-04-26 22:33

@blaster391 Thanks for checking. I'm glad it worked at least. I spent some time optimizing the game but not a whole lot so I'm sure I forgot to do something. But ya know thats just how game jams be sometimes. Thanks again.

Loved the aesthetic and the level designs were interesting. I did have a bit of trouble looking around at times especially when I wanted to look at something above me. The first area looks like it just abruptly ends at the bottom, adding fog or something like that at the bottom may have given a better illusion that it keeps going. Overall great game though.

saga 2021-04-27 12:07

Very nice looking game. It was interesting to play it!

alina-baybulatova 2021-04-27 19:27

Omg! Such a beautiful and cool game! I have no words.. amazing work!!

krebzor 2021-04-27 19:39

Looks super nice, i love the little robot

kenforest 2021-04-28 16:24

Wow, the graphic its so beautiful, really nice work

asinkrit 2021-04-28 16:25

Not bad game, but a very long delay before jumping)

his-games 2021-04-28 16:28

very nice game, kinda laggy on my computer. I super like the atmosphere and mood, and the animations. It gives it stop-motion vibes, it works really well. Very good job, great work!

ahspike 2021-04-28 21:22

@jogy34 Thank you so much for playing. I can see what you are saying. Balancing a dark aesthetic with clear objectives can be hard for me. If I do an update I will be sure to make it more clear were to go.

@saga Thanks you so much for playing!

@alina-baybulatova Thank you for playing. Glad you liked it!

@krebzor Thank you. Yeah I like how the design came out.

@kenforest Thank you so much.

@asinkrit Thank you for playing. I see what you are saying. Their is a long delay so that the bot can charge his jump. If you notice his legs are compressing as his body moves down. The idea was that he compresses the springs in his legs and the longer he compresses then the higher he can jump. Sorry if that wasn't clear. But yeah thank you so much for playing.

@his-games Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Yeah I feel like I should have baked the shadows at a lower quality to make it more accessible to everyone, but just so you know turning all the settings to the lowest setting should increase your frame rate by a lot. But yeah Thanks again for playing!

sjonsson 2021-04-28 21:46

Funny robot, felt nice loading up the spring jump and flying away like a missile!

roolow 2021-04-29 19:39

This game looks like hell...I mean that as a compliment of course. There's something inherently satisfying about prepping a spring jump with juch a clunky retro scifi looking robot. I love what you've done here, great job!

pixelbug 2021-04-30 07:31

Beautiful game! Love the storyline and humor. The clunky gameplay worked really well for the mood, but was a bit difficult at times, though I think the level design usually made it clear how and where to use it. The charging time could've been lowered by a bit to compensate, though, since it adds a lot of time to clearing levels. Still, I liked how the terminal velocity meter helped create that tension before landing where you aren't sure if you'll make a jump or not.

mikew 2021-04-30 14:37

haahh this was a genuinely hilarious game! not alot of games in this jam used Unreal Engine so for that I give you props because the game looks and sounds great.

yamzho 2021-05-01 09:16

This is really good ! Kudos for shipping such a game in 72hrs ! Well done !

fabula-rasa 2021-05-01 23:45

Right of the bat, I loved your story setup. The robot hell gave me "Futurama" flashbacks and I kept expecting the Robot Devil to come at me with his fiddle

It's beyond impressive work for a solo game made in 3 days. Graphics are great! Nice textures, cool shadows. But I have to mention one thing there - the simple bars of UI do not fit the style of the rest of the graphics at all, it's clashing. Would be quite nicer if the UI followed the style of the rest of the graphics.

Performance was mostly okay and it ran fine. I had two bigger hitches - one at the start (the sound kept going, rest stopped) and one a bit later.

Jumping around felt quite polished. Charged jumps are steering in the air were pure pleasure. Really well done!

[Thanks for submitting this game to our stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007626304?t=05h52m20s)

So glad we were able to get this running on stream! This was a super charming little experience with some top-notch visuals and gameplay. I love the personality on this one. :ok_hand:

andidebob 2021-05-03 15:25

So cool to see a little collectathon created for a gamejam. The "level select" screen (if that is what is was) was a bit confusing, with the buttons all saying the same thing. The core mechanic of the springloaded jump and the terminal velocity display are super cool. I wish there was some sound and music going on, but this is a jam, so yeah. I don't know how much game there was, I played through 2 levels and I think I overachieved in the first one, so I think I have earned writing this comment!

All in all a solid gamejam game with a lot of potential and stunning looks!

Also, here is proof of my over-achievement: robts.png

theodore 2021-05-04 10:00

Ohh so that's how robot hell is!! Jumping around was really fun. It would be nice if the there was some level of ranomization @ the sfx. Good job!

undeadsf 2021-05-06 13:59

Thx for your work, nice assets (especially robot model), sound seems ok, but I have big trouble with fps (like in the first scene when you look down from cage). Overall game looks good.

franklins-ghost 2021-05-14 14:29

Congrats on your first Ludum Dare and impressed at how much you were able to get in, in such a short time. The level definitely had that robot hell vibe so you got the atmosphere perfect for the story. Liked the lighting on the papers as you found them thought it was well done and was a nice touch that they stood out so made it easier to find them as you moved around. Did have issues with the camera at times not being in the greatest positions when looking around near walls but besides that nicely done.
