I really like the art, the colors are really clear. My first few attempts I tried to bring my fire to the trees/wood and wondered why they weren't burning.

sam-horner 2022-04-03 20:25

Super cute little game, 62 is my high score. I think it would benefit from a little indicator to tell you what you are about to pick up before hitting the button

willturner 2022-04-03 21:52

That's a really awesome game.

yellow 2022-04-04 01:35

@jibberwocky :laughing: Because it's too hot, ha ha!

yellow 2022-04-04 01:36

@sam-horner Wow, you're much better than me. Thank you for playing. :smile:

yellow 2022-04-04 01:37

@willturner Thank you. You too.

untitled-studios 2022-04-04 02:17

clear colors, nice music, rad lil gameplay loop :sunglasses:

milq 2022-04-04 03:24

Please, build for GNU/Linux and/or HTML5, it seems so interesting!

jcmonkey 2022-04-04 03:32

i would actually balance the game around 60 seconds to let the player have time to enjoy the game. but of course thats just me being nit picky.

waffleworksgames 2022-04-04 04:12

This is super addictive! Really simple but really fun. My best was 42 seconds

yellow 2022-04-04 04:23

@untitled-studios :laughing:

yellow 2022-04-04 04:24

@milq please wait! come soon.

yellow 2022-04-04 04:24

@jcmonkey Thanks! You're right. I've tried several numerical settings. Unfortunately, compo only has 48 hours. It still has a lot of dissatisfaction. But I'm not sure if I can update it now. I will continue to improve it in the future.

Simple yet addicting game. I can see this being published on mobile and get played on a bus or something. One small feedback I have is to have the game restart instantly after game over. Other than that, well done.

Hello fellow Gamemaker Dev! Cool concept, fits the theme! I dig the minimalistic artstyle. The combination of not growing trees fast enough and rain just messed my time up :P thereisfire.png

cerno-b 2022-04-04 14:18

Nice minimalist game with simple but effective mechanics.

I enjoyed trying to crack my previous high score. I couldn't figure out whether the wind does anything or whether I would be able to prevent any effect it may have.

The only point of specific criticism that I have is that I think the success of the player is too much dependent on luck. If you have a run where the clouds do not form above the fire, you would likely score higher. Maybe an indicator that tells the player where the next cloud would appear might be helpful here.

Overall I had a good time.

I really like the minimalistic style, and the easy-to-grasp controls! And with the time score it's a fun re-playable minigame.

Same singular point as someone above this post. The clouds could use a warning.

yellow 2022-04-05 02:08

@hgjake @cerno-b Thank you for playing! We think the same. When the wind appears, there will be a small airflow. The same goes for trees.

In fact, my first thought was that it would rain half a second after the clouds appeared. Only rain can affect the flame. Clouds are just a hint of where it will rain. This is the same as the effect of small air flow.

I can't use English freely. I hope you can understand what I mean. Have a good time!

yellow 2022-04-05 02:12

@rhewid Oh! man! You're better than me! :laughing: But there's someone better than you!

yellow 2022-04-05 02:15

@papaya :smile: Simple and fun is my original intention to make it. I think I'll add a button to restart!

badpiggy 2022-04-05 12:46

Surprisingly addictive and fun arcade game. I'm definitely coming back to this more lol. Loved how you really have to factor in whether you should carry the fire with you to a tree, or whether it's better to just go back and forth. And of course there's also the rain spawning in which raises those questions even more. This was a damn good game loop.The art and audio as well are minimal in all the right ways and are damn cool. The only thing holding this game back is that the grab detection can be a little wonky. It was also the prime reason sometimes why my fire died lol. This is especially the case when your fire is right next to a tree. Other than that though, this is an awesome entry

foursay 2022-04-06 03:41

This game is beyond my first imagination - it is surprisingly fun to play! I never expected the game loop to be this fun by moving and lifting the campfire, and I just fell in love with this gaming experience. Good Job!

gm637official 2022-04-06 09:14

This is pretty dang addictive with the game loop Noice

zitao-ye 2022-04-06 15:26

It’s a fun game, the pixel art is lovely and the design of the move the wood but also the fire is cool.

yellow 2022-04-13 05:06

@milq I know it's a little late. But HTML5 (WEB) is coming! You can rest assured that I'm a man of my word! :laughing:

Have a good time!

enderswype 2022-04-13 07:15

noice, however, who is farting on my fire all the time ????

his-games 2022-04-13 08:28

Very cute game, moderately polished and satisfying. Unfortunately, the web version isn't working for me, so I had to download (the button for cutting wasn't doing anything). Would love to have some more feedback on key actions, like a cutting down animation (I sometimes struggled and thought it wasn't doing anything) even when you can't cut a tree down. When an action is disallowed, you should still have some sort of feedback for it so the player doesn't think the game or their keyboard is broken! Another critical bit of feedback I would like is the fire having more stages in its decline, to gauge the going out more.

The frantic gameplay is well-designed, I think, had the right amount of frantic multitasking, in moving the fire around and gathering wood, and I felt panicked but not frustrated, which is a hard balance to get! Reminds me a lot of overcooked, in a way. I had a lot of fun playing this entry! I liked the theme integration, and the cutesy graphics were an interesting contrast to the fast-paced panic of this game. Well done, have rated highly!

milq 2022-04-13 11:07

@yellow, thanks a lot! I'll try It!

ukulelefury 2022-04-13 20:21

:) Very fun game! I laughed when I first picked up the fire by accident. Game changer!! I love the pixel-art. And I love the intro music.

fifut 2022-04-18 18:16

Cut trees to keep fire on! We had the Same idea :v:
