A solid submission with fine art and smooth gameplay, the only thing I would change is the start difficulty. It's a little bit overwhelming at the very beginning. And here is the alternative title, "The last of Oink".

The art style is amazing! The squealing pigs are a bit much though <3

Dude this game's amazing. I can't believe you made all these mechanics, art, sound and UI in the jam time, mind boggling. I ended up dying to a rifle pig in the third boss level, I didn't understand what the red eye meant, it seemed like they auto spotted me? I really really really really wish I didn't get sent back to the start, it took a good 40 minutes to reach that point, and I wanna see the ending... Anyways this is an incredible game, the art is amazing (like always with your stuff) and the gameplay is so smart.

Really loved this entry! The animations and sound effects work wonders in making the game feel alive! Great gameplay and artstyle too. I'd advise rating other peoples game - that way you get spotted and rated! Good luck!

A superb game from graphics to gameplay but ldjam is not only about making a great game I think it's more like playing other great devs' games too, that way people wont miss this gem!

Really, really great immersion. I love the early experience and how you get into the mood of the game right away. You and your friend are dying (ESPECIALLY your pal), you have no idea why, but you gotta suck it up and move forward. After the first few deaths you start to realize how careful you really need to be, either with your stealth or your resource management, this game is TOUGH.

I could only make it to the 2nd tick of the bar-map through sneaking around and avoiding conflict. Is there a trick to using the gun that I'm not aware of? I can usually get a shot off if no one's moving, but it seems like there's a dead zone where I can't shoot if they get too close.

Damn dude I love the game, the mood, the art and the The last of Us context but with pigs and this trashy art, it looks neat <3 Maybe the skill floor is high, I think this game needs to be difficult to be meaningfull and it it, however an easier land for the player in the game will help with the progressión in the first stages.

Great jamming mate!

Check my game if u want maybe u will like it:)

I LOVED IT!

but I absolutely hated the pig sounds, I always got this image of an actual dying pig in my head :(

other than that, awesome!

I really hope more people see this game. It is fantastic! Probably in my top 3 games this whole jam. It is a game that I would seriously consider coming back to after LD48. I played it on my stream, here is the VOD if you are interested: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006566683

This is truly a near-perfect submission in my opinion. It feels so distilled, as if everything unneeded was trimmed off, and the rest polished to a very high degree. It captures a complex set of feelings on par with This War of Mine and the Last of Us, making the player regret his own actions while having to justify them. It has several layers of scarcity and resource management driving the narrative, all while having a very limited set of features. Both the visuals and the audio work are incredible and serve to set an atmosphere not only of survival, but of horror. I think you've done a remarkable job, and I would love to see this concept developed further.

Thank you all! I'm so sorry i'm not doing any playing for now- i'm extremely busy with school and honestly, a bit tired of playing games (prefer making them) However, i will try my best to reply to each one and play your games in time <3 It's the first time i've ever participated in a LD, i didn't know the community and the "play other people's games" aspect was so strong! I'll try to give it time soon enough <3

Extremely hard game! Only managed to get halfway through, even though I invested more time on this entry than any other.

Sound design is magnificent. The sound effects are usually a combination of satisfying, realistic, and emotion invoking, usually all three. While the pig squeals are horrifying, especially when I shoot someone, I think it adds to the game in further discouraging violence. Reminds me a lot of this war of mine.

Definitely one of my top personal favourites so far, good job!

This is soo good, only 2 issues i had is the overwhelming wall of text and it's really hard from the start, though i think the hardness really fits this survival scenario

justcamh 2021-05-09 08:06

ayooooo I made it! Only took like ten tries and 3-4 hours. I had a heap of fun tho!

The final quarter of the game is absolutely evil with the difficulty, almost no resources spawn, bushes are spread with a good mile of space between them and every second dude has super vision + a rifle. Most bags were empty and it took a around 8 hunts at the end to get a single piece of food. imo it was a tad too crazy with the difficulty. But jeez was the final encounter tense!

This game is solid for sure, with a beautiful and unique art style and nice music. The things I will suggest here are my perception, feel free to disagree because of course this is your game... The first thing that I didn't like much was the huge amount of tutorial, even though they are well explained because of the game's complexity I think this would be best if showed throught gameplay where the player could learn some mechanics at a time and not all of them at the same time. Another thing is that the difficulty curve of the game is high since the very beginning and for some players this can be a little frustrating (I'm saying this but as a level designer myself I find this difficult to balance as well, although it improves a lot the feeling of the game when we get it right). Other than this I should only congratulate you guys, 'cause this is very well done: fun to play, good to look at and nice to hear. Good job!

Now that's how you make a survival game for 72 hours! This is definitely a gem, well made and polished. There are so many game design choices that made the experience more challenging and enjoyable, to have better aim you need to stay on one spot, drop items with right mouse button, have all of the item's share the same space in the bag, running is punishing you with losing health, the sneakiness is so forgiving (thank you for that one), being able to heal in combat, civilians crying for help but are harmless if nobody with a weapon is around them, I can keep going, but my point is you really made those design decisions work together very well and for that you deserve 5 stars and I hope to see this game on the top! I'm yet to finish it, but I keep coming back to it which says a ton.
