Little & funny game ! The camera is a bit frustrating sometimes because it put the game into a die & retry but I had a good moment ! ;-)
I wish the camera was slightly further out so it was a little easier to see obstacles on some of the jumps, but otherwise this was a fun time!
Agreed about the camera making some jumps difficult, but otherwise this is an enjoyable little game! Good work.
Congrats on making a functional game in Unity, it's not easy haha! With most of the jumps being blind, the platforming was a little frustrating. However the platforming felt good when I could see what I was doing- a good start for a bigger and bolder game!
Thanks For Playing
I would change collision with coin. On last level when you jump from highest point and landed on coin it can changed your position and thrown you to the hole. Game is simple and nice
Short sweet platformer. Other than the camera and the leap of faiths it was pretty alright.
Does what it says on the tin.
in some sections, you can't see the next platform. These are "blind jumps" and generally not ideal, since there's no way for the player to predict what to do. In this case I think just zooming the camera out more would fix it.
Played through to the end, didn't encounter any game breaking bugs.
Yeah, I just finished it! And the level design is nice too! Maybe it will be more fun to play if the camera can zoom out more.
Game is nice i played it till the end but the camera is too zoomed in can't see much, the wall is sticky, sound effects could have made it even better.
Well made platformer, it controls well. I like the difficulty of the game - hard, but not too hard. As people have mentioned, the camera needs some more work to frame the movement a bit better, maybe add a "crouch", where if you hold S, or down arrow, for long enough the camera pans downwards. Overall, I think you did well on this game. Good job!
@his-games Funnily enough, the game actually does have a crouch its just that there is nothing to indicate it (no player animations) it changes the hitbox and makes you slightly slower but its never really used in the game as a mechanic. In future games I'll add some player animations and better cam movement. Thanks for the feedback!
Unlike others, I actually like how you can't really see much of the terrain and have to blind jump and sort of "learn" what's located where instead of just following visual cues. The levels are short enough that dying and trying repeatedly doesn't feel frustrating at all. In fact I think that's what makes this platformer unique. It's a good game! Naturally, I missed some more unique graphics and audio, but I am aware that this is a short game jam and it's especially hard when it's a 1-person team. So, overall, well-done! :D I had fun!
It was simple and fun to play. I couldn't give up before I win :'D Like other people have said, the camera was a little clumsy when I couldn't see where to land but it made it harder to play tbh and it was kind of a good thing.
Feedback - No music I need music - Why were you collecting coins - Blind jumping at it's best - The character was well nothing
Short and to the point platformer!
I think you have a solid groundwork for a more fleshed out platformer. Like others have pointed out there were a lot of blind jumps that was mainly down to the camera. For one of the most comprehensive articles on scrolling I would recommend this - https://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/ItayKeren/20150511/243083/Scroll_Back_The_Theory_and_Practice_of_Cameras_in_SideScrollers.php
Other than the camera being a bit shaky I think the movement felt really nice. Good movement speed, jump height and fall speed.
And like @meritcoding pointed out, shame there's no music or SFX. Would be nice to have those and make it feel more alive.
Overall great job on finishing a game with a start and clear end! Hope you continue to build upon this or use what you learnt for future projects =]
For a second jam that's far from bad. One thing I noticed was that the coins had collision, so you touched them and they stop the player. You can make those a trigger (in the collider component) and use OnTriggerEnter instead.
Sorry but where is theme? Just platformer. But for the first time it is ok
As others already have noted there are a lot of blind jumps in this game. Apart from that I think its a good starting point to get more familiar with unity! I think 2bitcrook gave some good feedback on what you can add to the game to get used to unity
