This is a commercial like full game wow art, animations, humor if you insist in dialogues are absolutely insane too bad you opt out that categories and let's don't forget music shall we glues all the things together perfectly. I really enjoyed while playing great job, congrats to the whole team :v:

falafel 2021-04-27 05:38

Love it!

fpeg 2021-04-27 08:05

@mlkvr Thanks for trying it out, I am happy you liked it :) I want to extend an additional thanks for poiting out the fact that we had opted out from the ratings, that was a just mistake due to lack of sleep. It's now possible to rate our game in all categories ^^

rujum 2021-04-27 10:31

ty for the game!

tombuston 2021-04-27 10:40

This is a really great game, it's really impressive how polished this is for a jam game. Audio and graphics are really good, the music is one of the best I've heard in a jam game and the pixel art is beautiful. This makes a great mood. Maybe an option to skip dialogues could be good, when you are looking for a clue you sometimes trigger the same dialogue multiple times.

** Spoiler ** I couldn't finish it tho, I was stuck once I got the key of utter destruction and the green mask and couldn't find what to do next.

Congratulations to the team, this is my favorite game of the jam so far!

frnknstn 2021-04-27 10:40

I had fun navigating the game very polished love the style.I got stuck after getting the key of doom.

starerik 2021-04-27 10:51

@tombuston Thank you so very much for the kind words! I’m really glad you like my music! It’s always so hard with game jams, because you don’t have time to try different ideas so you usually go with your first instinct, whether it’s good or not.

raiponz 2021-04-27 10:54

Very nice and enjoyable game. The art and the animation are stunning. The story is compelling, and it's really enjoyable to play.

Congrats to the team.

(I'm not familiar with point and click, I can't figure out what to do with the pink key )

arancutter 2021-04-27 11:00

This is such a great little game! The art, the music, the story. It's all just fantastic. I really can't get over it. I was happy to find an adventure game to play, but this far exceeded any expectations I had.

I only noticed one small issue with a door frame/wall near the clock overlapping the player towards the end of the game.

I really loved it. Thanks for making and sharing it!

ditam 2021-04-27 11:15

Ok, I feel a bit silly asking this, but how do I use the key? I can't get in from the balcony, the door stays locked :D

roikku 2021-04-27 11:27

Excellent graphics and audio, music especially! Great point and click adventure!

milestone-games 2021-04-27 11:28

@ditam if you click the arrow at the top of the screen, the inventory bar appears. Then you can click the key and then click on the door handle to unlock the door

---

Review: What a super impressive work of art! The art, music and mysterious story really came together nicely! This has so much potential. Are you planning to continue working on it? :)

xeke-death 2021-04-27 11:48

Very well done. Graphics were spot on, the lights turning on was a great point in the story.

Fun story, and unexpected end.

ditam 2021-04-27 11:57

Thanks @milestone-games ! I still suck at this game though, I can't get much further (where do I find nicotine?). I'll have to wait until somebody posts a walkthrough... Great design and atmosphere though for sure.

nopogo 2021-04-27 12:05

this is the best game i've played thusfar. I can't wait untill I figure out the puzzle I'm stuck on right now :)

thevinter 2021-04-27 12:37

Awesome game, awesome graphics. Very reminescent of Lucasart games. I enjoyed the humour, the art and the music + the twist at the end, very very cool!

nablaz 2021-04-27 13:20

The game looks and sounds amazing! I especially loved the audio, great composition and the mood is excellent! I think I would have liked the story too, but I cannot progress because I can't seem to find neither cigarettes nor a sharp object for lockpicking... Maybe it's just me though! I think I'll probably come back to your game when I have more time and finish it, because it's really enjoyable. Great job to everyone involved, this is a super solid entry for the jam!

EDIT: finished it and liked it even more! I must admit the ending felt a little abrupt, but it was still super enjoyable to play! I agree with others that some dialogues could be skippable, especially if you click multiple times on the same things to see if the interacion changes or if you discover something new though... Cheers and great little game!

dk5000p 2021-04-27 13:44

How do I use the stool? This game looks amazing but some signposts about what can interact with what would make it a lot less frustrating.

mmisspelling 2021-04-27 13:53

thank you for this great game! loved the art, the music was absolutely great (I loved the "Suspiria" type track) and it has really comfy feel of the classic point and click games. One of my favs so far!

jakegames2 2021-04-27 13:54

Wow! Amazing game! My only issue was that the text felt a little slow at times, otherwise it was perfect. Great job!

morg 2021-04-27 13:56

Really great game, lots of polish and I love point and click adventures. The story was very charming (although I'm not 100% sure I get the ending), the only downside (and this is a VERY small one) is that you cannot skip dialogues, which makes hunting for clues a bit trickier. But still, an incredibly solid entry.

bauke-regnerus 2021-04-27 14:15

I classic point and click adventure, very polished and lovely pixel art. Nice color palette. The music fits the theme. Great job!

tetrapteryx 2021-04-27 14:26

I adore the whole aesthetic, and the animation is excellent. This feels so polished for a jam game!

nerzal 2021-04-27 14:42

The music was great, although i skipeed a song to early (sorry for that). The graphics are beautiful. The story is great.

The riddles were fair and solvable in time. Only one riddle, was hard to guess. The controls were as expected (that means good), inventory was easy to find and control.

You have done a great job and i did really appreciate the fact that you have build a point & click adventure.

elendow 2021-04-27 15:18

I just loved the game overall, fun dialogs, lovely graphics, a super plot twist over the plot twist... Just perfect, the only thing bad of the game is the speed of the dialogs, sometimes were too fast for me to read and simultaneously translate (I played on livestream in spanish), maybe just letting the player go to the next dialog with a click would be fine. But still, the game is super fun to play and I enjoyed it a lot.

thomas-bringer 2021-04-27 15:57

Such a nice entry! Some really great narrative, and a cool ending. The riddles were really nice, I like how the goal was always clear ("I need a sharp object", "nicotine, upstairs"...) And great pixel art. Great job! :D

valfr 2021-04-27 16:56

Very nice game, the story is interesting ! :D

valentine-skachkov 2021-04-27 17:19

Due to the plot, the solidity of the game is probably felt. In general, the overall impression is good, although the mood of the game is gloomy) It's a pity that the game jam is not on the eve of Halloween

andidebob 2021-04-27 17:52

This game is SO good! I have no idea how you managed to get all of this done in so little time. I would love to see a full adventure in Marilyn's world. The plot twits were so cool, just seeing the "two worlds"!

Really well done!

dagostino-audio 2021-04-27 18:36

This game is really incredible! I love all of the interaction and the art and music are beautiful! Amazing job!

almighty-games 2021-04-27 19:19

My first thought was... Maniac Mansion, which happened to be one of my favorite games on the Nintendo back in the early 90's. This game is really impressive, especially for a 3-day game jam. It's hard to believe you had time to draw all of that pixel art and still deliver a solid game foundation. I look forward to playing the rest of the game when I am not streaming. Thanks for sharing.

steelax 2021-04-27 19:26

this has got to be a front runner. I played this and was like wow very good art, then wow very good sound, then wow very good mechanics. then wow very good story, SPOILERS! the double twist ending was just great story telling.

pink-spaceman 2021-04-27 19:43

LOVE the game, have a simple gameplay, a good storytelling, a beautiful art and soundtrack

nvrskipgameday 2021-04-27 19:44

Omg, the audio is SO good. The gameplay feels very snappy. I could eat that ambiance up. Really, really, really great entry.

wongkongphooey 2021-04-27 21:39

I really enjoyed this, and probably played it for longer than any other jam game so far! It feels like a release that has been worked on for months honestly.

But, I did get stuck pretty early! If anyone could give me a hint so that I can pick this back up again that would be great. I couldn't find either the nicotine, or a key to the bathroom.

potti 2021-04-27 21:40

A really nice point and click game, great music, art, and story. Very funny and surprising.

There seems to be a small layering issue once you turn on some light.

Screenshot 2021-04-27 at 23.34.15.png

hyperspacejelly 2021-04-27 21:55

Loved the music and pixel art! Too bad I got stuck ahah

starerik 2021-04-27 22:01

@wongkongphooey For the nicotine, maybe you feel tired... and need to lay down.

euphelys 2021-04-27 22:02

Atmospheric and spooky at the beggining, really cool. Reminds me old quests, feel nostalgic. Also the story with unusual plotwist and the end is well written. Excellent!

nyanpierre 2021-04-27 22:28

All is perfect, art, audio, polish. Its a very good game !

doctortm 2021-04-27 22:44

The visuals are very nice! Great job!

maniulo 2021-04-27 22:45

Great work on main character animation! Very lively.

I got stuck on the skull in the beginning (I'd say making players pixel-hunt the same item twice is not fun), but then I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of rooms - usually jam adventures have much fewer screens. Also nice work on the after-party bits, I was totally expecting the game to end in the basement.

dragonayzer 2021-04-28 00:14

The music sets the mood perfectly! Especially that chanting... Is it related to the portrait? The art is astounding, to say the least. I honestly wish this game was expanded, but the story feels complete as is. Humor is on level and the pacing is amazing.

11/10, will play again.

fpeg 2021-04-28 00:18

@dragonayzer You'll be happy to hear that we're going for a post-Jam version of this then :) Thanks for the lovely feedback!

publicidadeba 2021-04-28 02:06

Wow. How did you do it? I will be honest, this is not my genre, but you guys nailed it! Art, Audio was amazing, but what impressed me the most was the mood. No wonder people are loving it. Well done :)

mighty-mufflon-games 2021-04-28 07:29

Best game I played so far of this jam! Everything fits so damn good. All aspects are on point and the twist of the game is ace!

minibetrayal 2021-04-28 08:28

absolutely magnificent

daegonz 2021-04-28 08:36

**The hair and cigarette animation will forever stay in my mind**. Not only that of course, everything looks and sounds good in there.

There is not much to say except really small details that have no reason to be pointed for a jam (cause the level of polish is increeeeeedible). If you want to take it further, consider the possibility to skip dialogues and maybe a little pass on the affordance/logic of some elements (i'm thinkin about the pack of smokes). But this is being picky for the LD.

Amazing entry, one of the best. Godd job :)

sebbernery 2021-04-28 09:59

This is a flawless realisation ! The mood is composed with beautiful graphisms, awesome soundtrack, and a very good story ! Usually I like point and click, but they are too hard, this one is easy enough to tell a story in a fluid way without being too easy, I really liked the twist (the two twist I could say). Special mention to the embedded credits !

predominant 2021-04-28 10:10

Awesome music / sounds. Really set the mood. The graphics, even though pixelated, were on point, and matched the mood perfectly. Great feel, and amazing game!

geo3d 2021-04-28 10:57

Very well made game. The art, sound and game mechanics are solid. Story's great and that ending part's well done.

kuviman 2021-04-28 11:42

What a wonderful game!

colisan 2021-04-28 11:49

The Lorem Ipsum song... soooooo... gooooood! Could we have it on Spotify one day? =D (the game was really really awesome too)

schwede 2021-04-28 14:48

What a Harry Potter music! This can really compete with film music! Congratulation to your wonderful game.

A tiny feature request. Dialog cancel animation would be cool. Since you click like a maniac in this game, you would happy to cancel same dialog you have viewed for the 100 times.

aaants 2021-04-28 14:56

Fantastic job all round. Well done to the whole team!

der-finski 2021-04-28 15:23

I was really confused at the beginning, but then after a few minutes went completly bamboozled. Nice game all in all, loved it

gryffo 2021-04-28 16:11

That is an amazing amount of art to churn out in such short notice. The game flows really well. Congrats!

m11 2021-04-28 16:13

Excellent art, music and story!

brielley 2021-04-28 16:19

The audio and art is fantastic. Can't believe you finished it in three days! Great job!

cacciatc 2021-04-28 17:21

Great puzzles, humor, and mood. I love seeing LD point & clicks adventures!

poweranze 2021-04-28 19:27

Fredrik, I bet your doodles are awesome! Don't listen to those turds ♥ Amazing game, huge amount of quality content for such a short time! Very fun!

randomhuman 2021-04-28 19:41

Wow so much content! Classic adventuring but thankfully no puzzles too obscure. The art is amazing and the story is great too. I liked the twists and the credits  Good job team!

fpeg 2021-04-28 20:25

@poweranze <3 I know! Thanks for the kind words! ^^

mykola 2021-04-28 20:48

It's a masterpiece! Amazing puzzles, humor, art, music and mood. Reminded me of classic Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island P&Cs. Really well done, one of the top games I've played so far in this jam!

paulloz 2021-04-28 21:33

That is so much work achieved in one weekend. You really hit that exact nostalgic vibe you (I) want to see in this kind of game. One of the best entries I've tried so far!

plaskijakdeska 2021-04-28 22:41

Okay. This one is obviously my favourite game from this years Ludum Dare. Sterling work. If it was longer then it could totally be a fully commercial game. Love the aesthetic and sound design. I'm amazed that it was done in 72 hours.

ariorick 2021-04-28 22:58

Clicking two times on a skull is wierd move, cause every other object on the balcony just repeats previous line on second click. Graphics are awesome, but I guess I just don't like point-n-clicks...

fpeg 2021-04-28 23:09

@ariorick Everyone can't be into everything! In my experience point and clicks are frustrating to some people, and I can really see why, point and clicks are sorta slow paced and you need to repeat things over and over (especially if you get stuck). I mean, I can feel that frustration when I play them (and I love them!), but I guess for me the reward of finally solving a puzzle way outweights the furstration :P Can't be the same for everyone though ^^ Thanks for trying it out either way!

fingamer 2021-04-28 23:09

What a nice game!

The game is visually very beautiful, I love the pixel art! The music is also very good. And of course, the story was nice, had a laugh here and there. Had fun solving the little puzzles and completing the game while also investigating all the other stuff. Very polished.

Amazing entry, well done!

svyatozar 2021-04-28 23:14

Great characters, awesome music, dark humor.

woolchara 2021-04-28 23:38

I'll say nothing new: pixel art, animations, music are so good. Amount of art and its quality are impressive

iellswo 2021-04-29 00:35

Super cute Point and Click game!

Positives: - Love the art, music and sound - The two twists at the end were funny - I liked being able to explore the house after the twist and seeing what everything _really_ is - Dev room!

Critiques: Game suffers from some of the standard Point-and-Click pain points - Lighter puzzle resulted in sever pixel hunting, as the lighter was not super obvious, maybe some way to make interactables a bit more clear to avoid pixel hunting? - Some of the puzzles were a little obtuse, which is why I imagine you had the NPCs tell me where to find things?

Really awesome game, super cute, loved it!

illabom 2021-04-29 03:47

Wow this is amazing. The pixel art is incredible and I am very jealous. The audio is so good too. 5/5

euler-moises 2021-04-29 05:22

I can't believe you guys made this game in just 3 days. But really, it doesn't matter. I thought the game was beautiful! I love point and click and art really caught my eye. The music is very much in keeping with the "terror" mood of the game. The outcome is sensational! I suggest that you develop the game further so that the mansion is bigger and with more puzzles. Congratulations to all involved.

P.S.: There is a little bug with the movement. In some moments the characters are shaking going from one side to the other very fast.

obrunomarques 2021-04-29 06:12

Great game ! Very funny and well made !!!

andykswong 2021-04-29 06:47

Wow, this is excellent! Like the plot twist at the end

kek 2021-04-29 07:03

Adore this game! I really love the credits section, it's funny & creative!! Also, beautiful, art, beautiful music, wonderful dialouge, fun gameplay + great plot twist. Best game in the jam I've played so far.

iluvatar 2021-04-29 09:11

HELLO POINT & CLICK BROTHERS/SISTERS!

As a huge P&C fan, I was thrilled to see another game of this genre. Not many LD entries do that. The atmosphere and the graphics are just gorgeous. I can't believe you actually made so many rooms! And the animations are just smooth as hell. Love the toungue in cheek humor as well. Just brilliant guys. Loved every single second of it.

baturinsky 2021-04-29 09:12

Love the art, but could use more hints in the adventure part. I could not even get out from the first balcony. Even the simple cursor change when over active spot could help. And not having for text to slowly type out.

amerigo-gazaway 2021-04-29 09:21

Love the story, art and music, really set the spooky atmosphere. Also a bit of humor as well. Great work!

vsi 2021-04-29 09:32

really nice art and concept, liked the game!

videt 2021-04-29 10:56

One of the best games I've played on LD48!! It has very good chances of getting the 1st place!

tyrannas 2021-04-29 12:32

For now, the game is sooo well polished, I love the iddle animations and god the musics...It's like they were written by Dany Elfman for Nightmare before Christmas ! But...I'm stuck already, I feel kinda dumb but I cannot figure how to use the stool, I'm pretty sure it is to reach what's on top of the bookshelf but can't figure out how to use it. Any hint ?

tyrannas 2021-04-29 12:34

(Nevermind I found it)

thebmxeur 2021-04-29 12:34

Apart from not being able to skip dialogues (because I often re-trigger a dialogue I just read) and not having a cursor change when you hover interactive things (which would make it less likely to re-trigger stuff) it was really well done.

jusw85 2021-04-29 13:35

Great entry! The art, animation, music and writing was on point. Would've liked the ability to speed up or skip text. Also, some of the interactions were hard to find. I liked the twist at the end. Good job!

tsuk13 2021-04-29 14:49

That was super awesome! Great art music and writing. Lovely little point-and-click! Amazing work!

strangeryann 2021-04-29 15:01

Fantastic game - excellently finished and executed - I love the fact [SPOILER BELOW]

08_it segfaults.png

That you see all the scenes at the end with the light on and it really ties all the loose ends Really great

And the fact you have the credits in there! IN the game - perfectly integrated! Amazing - masterfully done - can I refer to you 5 as "sempai" from here on out plz :-D?

I found the fact you have to open the loo with the weird blade counter-intuitive that got me scratching my head for a bit but I made it till the end and I'm so glad I did

Very very fun - thanks - sempais <3 :grinning:

So I really like your game and I'm streaming Ludum Dare 48 games on saturday with my friend Teauorent on his Twitch channel - https://www.twitch.tv/teauorent - Saturday May 1st 4PM CET First of all - that cool with you sempais? This may redirect some traffic to your page for more people to try your LD48 game you sempais put together so masterfully :grinning: If you'd like, please e-mails us anecdotes (one of you 5 sempais - any - no preferences) and sneak peeks of your creative process (photos, screenshots, beta/WIP asset renders, mood boards, concept Art, etc.) so we can present them alongside and illustrate your LD48 adventure to our audience  Here's our e-mail to send all that good stuff to --> TeamChooChoo.GameJams@gmail.com [we will confirm receiving your sempais' e-mail(s) upon reception] The show will be in french but I'm bilingual so you sempais can totally submit in english, we'll take care of the rest

eric-smith 2021-04-29 15:09

This game was downright amazing! I really loved every minute of it. It remined me a lot of the old Tandy/Radio Shack games by Sierra like Kings Quest and Space Quest which brought back quite a few good memories. You guys did an amazing job in all areas! Thanks for sharing! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003785681?t=2h59m3s

nosfer 2021-04-29 15:18

Great game with nostalgic feeling. I would maybe add option to speed up text with LMB (first click shows entire text, second click skips). Nice narration. Love the Lorem ipsum song at the end :3 - reminds me of Heilung

jake-white 2021-04-29 15:20

Loved this one, especially exploring the house afterwards. Very charming!

tom-robson 2021-04-29 15:31

This game is crazy charming! The art, the story, the music, all of it! I could totally see this type of thing getting developed further, you guys clearly have the talent for it.

Keep it up! I'd love to see more in the future!

mm-gamedev 2021-04-29 15:46

Right This Game is definately Winning ... Its sooo well polshed .. The art animations.. Music....I Just love every thng about it. And The ending...... xD... Well... Everyone has covered the necessary improvements ..... So theres no point delling on That.. Overall.. Great Game.

his-games 2021-04-29 15:59

fantastic game! The art and music are on-point! I sometimes got frustrated that I kept on clicking on stuff accidentally, by I battled through to the end! Well done!

saltysa 2021-04-29 16:21

I really liked the game! The music were so nice and it was fun seeing the credits in the game! The ending was also really nice

lenophie 2021-04-29 16:30

Love the direction on this, art and music were very good! i'm not a fan of point n clicks but the story development was neat, so I was in!Got very attached to the heroine :3

graios 2021-04-29 16:34

It's a great game, I'm not that fond of point & click game but I enjoyed it nonetheless

brian-mayberry 2021-04-29 16:34

Adorable! Ran into the audio issues on the HTML version, but not so bad as to distract from the experience. Great work!

wakobu 2021-04-29 16:37

The game is stunning ! The graphics are perfect and I was really immersed into the universe... Nothing else to say, really... Congrats !

antbrl 2021-04-29 16:42

Everything about this game is great. Had a very good time playing it, it is very polished!

gilokko 2021-04-29 17:14

This game is great! Loved the art and the music. Fantastic job!

erilhir 2021-04-29 17:50

WOW ! I came here thanks to my teammate (Tyrannas) and I have no regrets ! My English vocabulary is too limited to tell you how much I loved your little game. It reminded me of my first point and click :D The music and graphics were beautiful and everything was so smooth. Please, continue like this ! I really hope to see your team again in a next jam :)

yellowkamel 2021-04-29 18:00

I absolutely loved this! Very much love to the art departement and thanks for submitting to my stream.

natalia-dushkina 2021-04-29 18:08

Is it a bandage lying on a kitchen floor? Couldn't pick it up and have my head fixed:( Also had to click several times here and there before I could use the pink key.

But I loved the art, music, atmosphere and the idea with 2 layers of reality.

okamit 2021-04-29 18:36

@natalia-dushkina No you get patched up before regaining control! Yeah we have quite a few things to implement for the post-jam version thanks to all the great feedback we've gotten! It's very rewarding even if we wish we could implement them now for everyone to play!

Also a big thanks to all the people who have given feedback so far! It's quite overwhelming!

rawb 2021-04-29 19:02

This game is great! So much content to make in such little time

jonah 2021-04-29 19:11

A really superb experience. I can only say: great job!

paulloz 2021-04-29 19:16

This was *really* good. You guys did a banging job. I usually have problems with point-and-clicks with getting stuck, but that wasn't the case this time. At least not for long. The music and art were really excellent. Especially the music. Fantastic job!

ausstein 2021-04-29 20:37

Hi,

As you requested Here is my Playthrough of your game.

https://youtu.be/EQxwoy63ltw

I got stuck a little bit before realizing the lighter is in the kitchen.

Other than that it was a fantastic game. Watch the vid for more feedback :)

Also check out our game if you want to.

goldenevolution 2021-04-29 21:11

Super impressed with this entire game and the fact that it's made within 72 hours! Amazing graphics, music and quite funny

lalaki7 2021-04-29 21:24

Overall pretty neat especially for the short time span, but I think the music kind of clashes with the retro style graphics and sound effects.

octopoid 2021-04-29 21:27

Wow, didn't expect to see a proper graphic adventure on here! The twist was really good, I thought it was the ending! Fantastic graphics and sound, and a really decent length as well. I'd give you some constructive criticism, but I honestly can't think of anything!

grounddoon 2021-04-29 21:35

Art is very cute, puzzles are perfectly balanced (for me atleast). Its incredible that you did it in only 3 days!

bajtix 2021-04-29 22:19

Played on stream and had some fun. Had some wild theories when it comes to the ending, and I think I was pretty close. Some of the "riddles" were hard, but overall it is a very very nice game. Love the mood that there is during the first part.

filgru 2021-04-29 22:37

Hey! What a nice art style! Nicely designed character! Very moody music, it fits perfectly to this game. The only thing I would tweak a little are those texts, they feel a bit too slow. Besides that, Amazing job!

sheepolution 2021-04-29 23:10

Great game! The art is perfect. The puzzles are nice, though it was a bit confusing that I had to click the skull multiple times. Also the sigarets were on a location of which I didn't think was interactable, since I already clicked the bed once. Love the ending. Well done!

dom-de-re 2021-04-29 23:56

Great game, I love point and click adventures!

dom-de-re 2021-04-29 23:58

Sorry, did you use Escoria (+ Godot) for this? (I've always been curious abt it)

exopunk 2021-04-30 00:14

Such an wholesome experience, really enjoyed it from start to finish, i liked the story and the twist, humor was on point. The art and music was really well done, overall it was amazing, great job.

okamit 2021-04-30 00:19

@dom-de-re It's made completely in Godot with the GDScript language!

gord10ahmet 2021-04-30 01:11

Great game. I loved its story, atmosphere, visuals and musics. Lovely twist.

starerik 2021-04-30 03:16

@lalaki7 I hear you. I once thought the same. But I think it doesn’t matter anymore, unless the game actually aims to look like a certain retro console, which this doesn’t. Thimbleweed Park comes to mind, which has pixel art but high fidelity music. Thanks for your input, and for playing!

etrealjunior 2021-04-30 03:39

Congratulations on the game, the amount of programming, art and animation work, added to polishing is practically done by Marvel's X-mans, if it takes into account the time that was stipulated in production, I appreciate the opportunity to have known your work, a big hug to everyone, and I await your evaluations regarding my game.

waltsontanaka 2021-04-30 05:24

Great game, really funny and nice dual art for dark/light scenes. Perhaps the voice sound effect is a little too high, compared to the music. Otherwise, really funny game!

landosystems 2021-04-30 05:35

This is amazing! What a great game, can't believe it was made in the jam deadline, so impressive! Very fun art style, the audio really punctuates the mood, the story has depth, and there's a good balance between finding items and figuring out what to do with them. Only really got stuck for a bit figuring out how to get into the bathroom. Love how the game takes a turn towards the end and the mood pivots on a dime, then twists again at the very end.

Extra points for the photo gallery and references to the creators (plus the star wars figures on the bookshelf, surprised they're recognizable in so few pixels)!

Really very impressive work, great job!

ramble-house-games 2021-04-30 07:24

Holy Cow I can’t believe how much amazing pixel art was packed into such a clean package in such a short time. The story is truly engaging and the game really makes you feel the need to find the next step. It's full of humor and neat experiences. The music is perfect, it suits the mood and somehow matches the pixel art (if that makes sense). It looks like there was maybe more story planned than finished, the amount finished is already an incredible amount. I didn’t want to give those dumb teenagers any feathers anyways. Thank you so much for bringing this by my stream. Here's a link to the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003607184

Sorry, I lost my connection in the middle of playing. Pretty much the whole thing is there though.

the1 2021-04-30 07:37

wow. Graphics are awesome! The game feels like commercial game, which is impresive if we consider the fact that it was created in 2-3 days. I really enjoyed this one. thank you. Good job!

bereg 2021-04-30 07:47

The game is awesome. The amount of work you have done is amazing. On a constructive criticism side: the way text appears on the screen is annoying and I think you need to add proper feedback to bad guesses. Right now, if you try to use something on something and it was a wrong guess, you have to watch this unskippable text again and again, it's just against the gist of point-n-click games which is all about experimentation. Also, the game would benefit from highlighting the interactable objects to avoid pesky pixel hunting. But it's just my thoughts on how to improve the game. It's already gorgeous and moody.

curtis-pelissier 2021-04-30 09:05

That was 15 minutes of excellence! I have nothing to say that wasn't already said previously. I played your game during my stream, that was an very nice moment. I hope you will make a definitive version sold it to steam/itch/gamejolt/other. I want to buy this game

Congrats to the team, really good job!

bidentworks 2021-04-30 11:12

Solid game. Well written, perfect pacing, music & art both impressive for a jam. Thank you for the enjoyable experience!

lucky-trident 2021-04-30 12:53

Twist ! Double twist ! Fun ! The game was fun !

Animation, graphics, music and writing are amazing !

ynneblack 2021-04-30 13:58

I got stuck after obtaining the mask and a mug and had to get a hint from the playthrough video, but it was fun! The animation is great and I loved the short illustrated sequences.

zenbarista 2021-04-30 15:09

This is a really cool game! I've got a bit stuck but will play it again and try to solve it.

robotex 2021-04-30 16:52

Wow! It looks like a completed professional game. Excellent work!

marcmagus 2021-04-30 17:15

fearawl 2021-04-30 17:33

Great game! Amazing work!

dodidouda 2021-04-30 18:12

Excellent game, reminded me of the good old Lucas Art ones. Pixel art on point. Beautiful and funny plot twists!

zondarg 2021-04-30 20:16

Wow. Simply amazing. The music is fantastic, great pixel art and animation. Looks and feels like a released game, not "just" a jam game. I played through (this comment on the gallery  ) and the double twist was neat too. Great entry! :ghost:

flogames 2021-04-30 21:18

Wow, very impressive and polished! The sound, graphics, animation... this is really on another level, well done! I like point and click adventures, and this one did a good job capturing that retro feeling. In true adventure fashion I also got stuck pretty quickly, but thankfully I found a helpful hint in one of your screenshots :) I also like the twists of the story and the idea of looking at a setting from two different perspectives. Only two minor suggestions: I wish there was a way to skip text & second, it would be a bit more comfortable if there was some kind of hinting/highlighting of interactable objects, so it doesn't get too tedious to find items. Apart from that, great job!

pizzasgood 2021-04-30 21:36

This is really good. Very solid art and music, and I love when games re-use the same areas in new ways so the lights-on stage was neat.

youhou 2021-04-30 22:59

Really funny game, I like the dark mood and the plot twist. Graphics are awesome, and the music is ok. Sometimes hitboxes for interactibles are weird but I managed to make it so... Nice work ! :)

exofrenon 2021-04-30 23:10

Outstanding job. Truly a 10/10 entry and by far the best game I have tested in this jam. Very professional. It offers the complete package. The amount of detail in the pixel art and the animations, the music and sounds, the overall atmosphere. The game itself was also interesting as an point-and-click adventure game that managed to tell a short story without ever being boring. I liked the double twist. Perfect length also

Very polished for an LD game. I mean, most people barely manage to put their game together at the very last moment, but you even had time to add ingame credits as an easter egg with the portrait room. That was a nice touch.

I generally try to make a leave more constructive comments, but there is not much to say here. Only minor complaint is that it was a little hard to figure out the cigarettes. You know that there is something there because of the hint by the zombie downstairs, and since clicking on the bed is a separate interaction that does nothing, it doesn't go through your mind that you must click at the top. It doesn't help that it doesn't really stand out, it looks like a regular pillow in the bed drawing.

metalfox-dioxymore 2021-04-30 23:15

Awesome game ! Graphics were polished, music was truely excellent (but a bit loud in the middle), the story (and plot twist) were astonishing, the humor is on point... It is awesome to see what you did in 72h !

I see only three little drawbacks to the game : - Having to click multiple times on an item to get it is completely counter intuitive (and absolutely not fun) ^^'. - The text is REALLY slow ^^'. I would have loved to make it appear completely by clicking again. In fact, I hesitated to click needlessly sometimes because I didn't want to be stuck in a text line... And that's where the "clicking multiple times on the same object" completely destroyed me. - ... Where is the theme ? And no, we don't go "deeper and deeper" in the house, we just... visit it ? It's not different than any house from any point'n'click game (or any game, regardless of the genre).

That being said, I want a more complete point'n'click game from you guys. Like, really. You're very talented, do you work in the video game industry ? Do you have more work somewhere ?

chrissx2 2021-04-30 23:29

Fantastic game! The visuals (Art style and animations), the twist, the music, puzzles, the atmosphere! I felt like playing Discworld or Monkey Island again! The only thing i can complain about is the lack of the option to skip dialogue and move faster.

thain 2021-04-30 23:59

Really nice arts and audios! The mysterious feeling is there as well, I like it!

eduardo-yukio 2021-05-01 01:15

This one is my favorite! Best narrative I've seen in a jam game; several plot twists, many interesting rooms, dozens of item descriptions... you guys really did a lot of work!

Awesome art, awesome music, the humor is great.

The only issue that I had was with using items: I spent like 3 minutes to be able to put that stool in the right spot...

Other than that, its a 5/5 in every category for me (except theme lol), just an outstanding work!!

thatmanrobin 2021-05-01 02:55

Really cool game, love the classic point n click adventure games. The art was really good, but I got stuck trying to find the bathroom. Still had fun and enjoyed it, would love to see a full fledged game out of it!

charq 2021-05-01 05:55

I really enjoyed the game! Thank you =) All the puzzles were clever, and it was fun to explore the house.

eoshadows 2021-05-01 07:17

Damn, this game had it all. The graphics were great, and the music was great, and the whole thing was just fun. I'm honestly surprised it was made in just 72 hours, even with the team it had. I also find it pretty neat that you had such a creepy mood while also a really funny one. Overall, really well done!

cem-adiloglu 2021-05-01 11:05

loved it as an adventure lover. unrelated with the theme but pretty good. I just wish you had a skip button to fast play the subtitles.

pomo 2021-05-01 12:13

Call me for the voice acting next time Kappa Thanks for submitting it! -PomoTheDog

vesper 2021-05-01 14:11

A fellow point-and-click game! Always wonderful to see. As all the previous comments have said, you guys did a great job with this on all the fronts (especially the audio, the theme music was *chef's kiss* perfect), and the story was concise but engaging.

I did get a little stumped looking for the cigarettes. Because the interactables aren't clear one does tend to just haphazardly start clicking everything is sight when you get stuck - just in case it yields something. But then again that's half the fun (and I see where I went astray now).

It was a really delightful entry. Kudos to your whole team!

tanis 2021-05-01 15:56

This sent me back to the old days of Lucasfilm adventures :) It would be nice to have a savegame system to be able to pause playing and resume later. Anyway, awesome job. The art is super slick and the music fits the game soooo well!

javicoder 2021-05-01 18:11

I loved it, it reminds me a lot of old adventure games. A spectacular work!

roidz 2021-05-01 18:54

Nothing more to say, everything has been said. This is a complete game. if we were in the 80's or 90's this would be a commercial hit!

Grats to the whole team to make such a masterpiece!

kunonooni 2021-05-01 22:38

This game was magical! The music really set the mood and the art was top notch! This was a wonderful and entertaining game to play!

cheesepencil 2021-05-01 23:39

A work of art, excellent product for a game jam.

samdwester 2021-05-02 00:49

Well done! Very polished

garys 2021-05-02 01:00

Excellent entry - I love a point and click and this was really solid. Only having a single command made things nice and easy and I didn't find myself endlessly clicking on background items trying to find the next thing with which I could interact. Good story, writing, graphics, music... just really solid.

tbaudon 2021-05-02 02:02

First of all, the music is incredible. That the first thing that struck me playing. I like dialog boxes with a typewriter effect like you did, but one thing to consider is letting the player skip the effect by showing the whole text if the player click. It gets a bit frustrating having to wait for the texts to finish printing to read, especially with text heavy game like that. When I reached a certain point I though that was the end and was really surprised to see there was more to it. Amazing. laughted a the credits, nice way to fit it in. Just finished it, that's a pretty cool game all in all. Had to relly on a walktrhough for the nicotin though i clicked the bed before... Can't complain about anything much than that and the long text. Good job :)

pbg 2021-05-02 02:21

That was just great. I loved the ending lol. Very charming!

dans17 2021-05-02 02:24

This was a very well planned out point and click game with a nice twist! The pixel art, dialogue, and music were all great! @starerik I totally get what you mean about game jam music being hard because you have to go with your first instinct, but I feel like it often works out well because you don't spend time overthinking things and you just write whatever the theme inspires in you.

gharliquebread 2021-05-02 03:22

Really fun game! Once I got the hang of the click boxes (and scoured the comments for the location of the nicotine...) it was smooth sailing. Really enjoyed this and made me wish it was time again for Halloween!

xpoho 2021-05-02 10:25

Милая история про ведьмочку, старинный особняк и подростков, которым нечем заняться.

Спасибо! ^_^

paperdomo101 2021-05-02 13:17

This was a joy to play! I tell you, when I put the 'key of complete and utter doom' in that wall, I switched right from blissfully amused to total anxiety, and the suspense in finding where to go next made it more and more nerve-racking! You nailed both humor and horror atmosphere. The artwork and animations are beautiful, as is the music, the writing was engaging and funny, and to top it off, I didn't run into any issues or bugs, so from my experience, expertly programmed. All in all, this is very impressive for a jam game, and I congratulate you all on your efforts!

epicgamefan 2021-05-02 14:20

Loved it! Thanks for the awesome experience. Love the twist ending. Definitely took some inspiration from maniac mansion. Loved the text printout sounds. I had fun.

ithildin 2021-05-02 14:33

Loved this game!

I appreciated the fact that there wasn't a lot of pixel hunting or weird interactions like it tends to be the case with point-and-click adventures. Everything JUST.MADE.SENSE, which allowed me to be more invested in the mystery. The plot twists at the end were really fun.

Graphics and sound were top notch. Congrats, this is one of the most solid entries I've played so far!

caveman54 2021-05-02 16:21

I really enjoyed this but I struggled to find the lighter for way too long. Up until that point it didn't feel like to much of a pixel searching game but overall still very good. Great entry!

meritcoding 2021-05-02 17:55

Feedback - You should have said the music was from the internet because I remember another game had it - Liked the plot twist at the end

okamit 2021-05-02 18:03

@meritcoding No, all music is original and made from scratch by Erik https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/blackout/the-music-of-blackout

tris250 2021-05-02 18:50

The excellent games, the graphics and the music are simply sublime, the animations are beautiful, impossible not to notice it (especially when we go everywhere on Twitch), the story is very interesting (it will be perfect for Halloween) Well done, I think this game can very well win the 1st place of the competition.

jacobrutter 2021-05-02 19:17

This game is so polished for a LD game. Each action / text reveal has a sound associated. I enjoyed the interactiveness of the game elements, though I got tripped up unsure what to do and had to read reviews to get on. Really enjoyed the narrative. Well done!

astavie 2021-05-02 19:23

This was very good! Might've played it two times to get all the dialog ;)

keyfriends 2021-05-02 19:50

There is really not much to say, except that this is an absolutely amazing entry. Beautiful sound, beautiful art, good progression and a delightfully spooky and cute story. Feels like a "real" game through and through, and within seconds of playing I stopped thinking "this is a good LD game" and started thinking about what might happen next.

nikolay-zapolnov 2021-05-02 19:59

Hey! Thanks for submitting the game for us to play on stream!

The game is really well done. Graphics, animations and music are so polished. I like the story and the plot twist at the end of the game. What I would like to know is what happened to the cat? :)

Here is a timed link for the stream: https://youtu.be/vC17EaL3CcI?t=1740

nivbeth 2021-05-02 21:04

Thanks for this awesome and cute game, I really enjoyed it plus I love point & click adventure! Amazing what you did in only 3 days :) Very well done.

evgeniya-zapolnova 2021-05-02 21:11

Cool game! It surprised me with the story, charmed with art and music and made me smile with the humor. Thank you for this work :))

tris250 2021-05-02 22:04

Trop fort !

Capture2.PNG

siberpunk01 2021-05-03 00:27

Great game! Reminds me of Maniac Mansion a little. The art, epic spooky soundtrack, and point and click game play all came out great! I'd suggest someway to let the player know what objects / areas of the room the player can interact with. I couldn't figure out what to do after getting the green mask. I'm guessing get Nicotine? I looked upstairs but didn't see anything.

ted 2021-05-03 01:11

A complete game experience! So well done. Thank you!

ismael-rodriguez 2021-05-03 01:11

Very nice game! The visuals, the music, the presentation, all **VERY** good. High quality!

I got stuck a few times; The lighter didn't stand out as an interactive object, I had clicked all the cabinets earlier and assumed I had checked everything there. Using the knife to open the door was really what got me stuck for a long time. I walked around everywhere checking everything and finally had to read the comments. I assumed a key would open the door. Maybe there was dialog that suggested I use it there, but I never encountered it.

Small nitpick ahead; I think it would be a bit more fun and interesting if there were some puzzles outside of playing find-the-key.

Anyway...

Very good entry! Good job everyone!

mrawde 2021-05-03 02:02

Really impressive entry! Loved the art!

matthewi 2021-05-03 03:10

Wow this game was amazing!! Super polished for a game jam! I loved the twist, and then the other twist haha. Super cute how I was able to go back and see everything with the lights on. Also I'm not super great at point and click games and usually have to google to find the solutions, but you designed the game super well and I was able to complete it with just the hints in-game! Overall, a really pretty and well designed game. Well done!

strega 2021-05-03 04:33

Really well done point and click adventure game! Feels really complete - the humor's good, the art was fantastic, and the audio was very fitting. *SPOILERS* I spent forever trying to find the lighter in the kitchen, just couldn't recognize it for some reason. I Loved how you could go around at the end and check everything again to get different dialog.

kaappis 2021-05-03 10:45

This is hands down the best jam entry I've played so far. Every aspect of the game was beautifully crafted. My only annoyance was that I couldn't skip dialogue when you basically had to click everything twice.

poweranze 2021-05-03 12:20

[Thank you for the submitting the game to the stream. If you want to rewatch the feedback, you can do so here.](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1008357028?t=01h22m08s)

pat-cleaver 2021-05-03 17:26

What a GORGEOUS game! This might be the favourite thing I've played from LD48 so far. The art is really nice, great atmosphere, very self aware and smart writing, and the music is wonderful too! Fabulous job to all involved!

theodore 2021-05-03 17:38

Loved it. The art is really beautiful and the music is AMAZING! Well done guys!!!

yaen 2021-05-03 21:19

What a lovely point & click with a suprising story and lots of great humor! The music fits perfectly and sounds very professional. The animations are impressive. Really the only thing I had trouble with and had to look up was finding the cigarettes. A bed is not really a typical place where you'd find those and the bed already had another dialogue assigned to it so I didn't click on a specific point of the bed. A bit more of a hint or the pack slightly peeking out would've made it better.

There are two more UX-things I would have liked: 1. Change the mouse when hovering over something clickable 2. Make the text skippable when clicking rapidly to reduce waiting

Other than those few things, I really loved my experience with Blackout. Good job!

megalukes 2021-05-03 21:22

Loved it a lot! You guys did an amazing job. I was really happy at the end of it! Great!

zathnic 2021-05-04 01:12

This was quite an immersive experience, I enjoyed the music and how realistic and interconnected the house feels! I don't think it fits the theme that well, you don't really go "deeper" into a house I don't think. A way to advance the text faster would also be nice, but other than those nitpicks, this is a great, polished entry!

ardorugus 2021-05-04 03:09

A potential ready-to-be game, if verified and less pixel hunting (sometimes not that obvious). Burton+Elfman feeling is there. This days we need a good balance between old style and new style point-n-click adventures, so, I hope you'll find it. The replics to be polished, I believe. Loved playing, anyway, one of the fav genres since 90s.

attala 2021-05-04 08:05

Wow, a full point and click adventure game made in three days. This is utterly impressive. I really appreciate that you made it "old school" as in no highlighted/glowing parts to help you understand. Only good graphics and logical choices. I played to the end and I always get stuck on adventure games :) This was a very enjoyable experience, 5/5, congratulations!

escortti 2021-05-04 11:00

I feel like point-n-clicks are hard to pull of well. They can be so frustrating if not well designed. But I think this game pulled it off really well. The art and music are really great and create this ominous mood. I love it!

fishmasterino 2021-05-04 15:14

I liked the art, music and story, but found the game a bit tedious to play through. I wish we could skip text we've already seen once. It's a lot of content and very polished for a jam game though, congrats

fabula-rasa 2021-05-04 19:04

The art and animation are both awesome. The color palette is exquisite! The music is a pure pleasure to listen to and really builds the atmosphere.

It is a nice and simple adventure to play through and a pleasant story with a bit of a twist even  Very enjoyable. I wished there was a way to click away the text that you've already seen. And I didn't really find the text-reveal sound necessary.

My only real criticism is that I don't really see a connection to the theme here. Great work otherwise!

conduit 2021-05-04 19:58

Played to completion and had an absolute blast! An exceptional level of polish here, from the gameplay to the art and audio. Absolutely stunning entry :) this looks like a commercial release in the making!

cvetk0 2021-05-04 21:23

Pure joy! I've loved point and click adventures since the 90s and this... is awesome. There is so much content packed in this game and I have to say that the story is well thought and has that nice twist... well, two twists to be honest . I really liked the very old school style graphics. The music felt perfect and set up great mood. Especially when it changed at some point it really gave me that creepy feeling, I almost didn't want to go through the door in the basement. Characters were cool and nicely animated. The only thing I would change is the text presentation and remove the beeping sounds. I kind of found myself constantly clicking the mouse button hoping the full line of text would display immediately. The one occasion where I'd leave text as is, is when talking to the "zombie" woman on the sofa.

In a way I would like to say that I hoped this gets further developed but honestly, I don't think it needs that. It's perfectly fine as it is. But Marilyn could perhaps get another installment, that I'd love to see! Huge thumbs up for making this in Godot as well. Keep up the good work, looking forward to see more from you

jvdwijk 2021-05-04 21:53

This was really nice, really liked the story and the mood it set! Hope to see more like this!!!

christian-camargo 2021-05-04 23:47

I did have some audio issues on the html version. Lots of popping/clipping sounds that I needed to play the game in mute. Overall I thought gameplay wise it was intuitive for me to know what to do.

starerik 2021-05-05 00:04

@christian-camargo Oh no! We do recommend downloading the native version to get rid of the audio issues. Trying another browser might help as well. You missed some interesting stuff audio-wise towards the end...!

snails84 2021-05-05 00:27

It's really crazy how polished this is! Super well done!

sarah-hines 2021-05-05 01:55

This was super fun to play! I loved the puzzle solving and point and clicks are usually pretty relaxing and no fuss. I think the storyline was amazing and and the twist at the end was great. Definitely enjoyed myself.

noteworthy 2021-05-05 02:39

Fantastic game! This one has plenty of character, I really enjoyed playing through this one. The art and music were wonderful, I loved the writing, cool puzzles, super good game!

mrpouletbzh 2021-05-05 08:35

Excellent little game, the twists were really funny! A pleasure to play it, with a gorgeous art direction, it's an excellent job, well done!

smiley405 2021-05-05 12:50

Mysterious, fun & interactive game. Well balanced overall, really had fun playing it. Finding the keys were tough though.

mateusboga 2021-05-05 13:11

Such a good game! I was falling asleep thinking about it last night :) Here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1011888349 Thanks so much for submitting!

yamzho 2021-05-05 14:51

I guess I don't have to write anything, evrything has already been said : awesome game !

stavu 2021-05-05 16:19

I really loved it! The story, the puzzles, the music, the atmosphere. It's all really great. This is definitely my favourite entry.

I think the interface could use some small tweaks - - When hovering on something intractable in the room, to have some text saying what it is. - When trying to use the wrong item on something - to have a specific reaction, instead of the usual text. - The text takes time to appear, and sometimes I get the same text (like when pressing on the book shelves trying to look at different stuff) and It's annoying to have to wait for it to end when I've already read it. This happens a lot.

Great Entry!!!

neontropics 2021-05-05 22:20

OK this was great! Old school adventure vibes, amazing music that wouldn't be out of place in a 90s Tim Burton movie, and interesting and fun setting and text. Super solid and very impressive for a jam game!

It would be great to have a white outline when hovering over interactable objects when hovering your mouse over them to make it a bit more clear what can be clicked.

justcamh 2021-05-06 00:29

Hey matey, thanks for submitting your game to stream! I really enjoyed it, and I hope my feedback helps! Here's the vod if ya wanna rewatch later;

ddrkirbyisq 2021-05-06 02:12

Nice job! Some of the interaction points could be signposted visually a bit better; would probably reduce the amount of frustration that people are having with some of the points.

Really enjoyed the use of subpixel animation and the palette work. The screen with the jackolantern especially, great colors.

itsboats 2021-05-06 05:02

I loved the short story you have there and kinda the double take on the theme where you go deeper into the house but also deeper into the story with plot twists! The character was so cute (probably my favorite from the jam because she look kinda like my gf haha <3)!

This was a really good entry and i only have two suggestions if you guys plan on working on this more but other people have said same or similar stuff: -button to speed text when I accidentally click him again -just a change to cursor so I know if I can click on something or not (doesn't need to be highlighted or text sayingwhat it is imo)

graphics, story, mood, audio: omgosh so good thanks for sharing it to me! I ended up watching the last part on someone elses stream because I missed a bit of the end haha

itsisaac 2021-05-06 10:34

Holy Bananas! Such a fantastic game. This is brilliant. Great job! One small suggestion would be to be able to skip already seen dialog. Apart from that, its jaw droppingly great.

asdehielo 2021-05-06 17:40

Very nice game, art and music are amazing. The story was funny, wasn't expecting the twist at the end! The puzzles were good, made me think a little bit. I just got stuck looking for the lighter, but luckily you thought about that and put a clue inside the game :)

I think the only thing it's missing is a way to speed up dialogues.

Awesome experience!

nuanda79 2021-05-06 22:08

Great point and click adventure! Really funny. I believe you should add a different phrase for when an inventory item is misused. Perhaps the only flaw is that the theme is not fully involved. However a fantastic entry!

sakura-magika 2021-05-07 04:55

great job, got to the end! wonderful job with the music, visuals, and animation! the story was cute, you even did animations, wow! i enjoyed the classic point and click gameplay, and it felt nice that the character would walk to where i clicked.

but the ending left me feeling a bit let down, like, to tell me "well it was all for nothing" after me putting all the effort into playing and finishing the game just didn't feel very rewarding.

i felt sad that i couldn't put the mask on, heheh.

some feedback for gameplay, it's not very clear when something has another interaction that you need to click for, vs if you'll just say the same thing again. i think some kind of indication, through dialogue or UI, that lets you know you should keep clicking would be good, especially because there's no way to skip dialogue, so having to sit through the same dialogue again as punishment for an exploratory click is pretty frustrating. on that note, a way to skip through dialogue would be good too.

overall, wonderful job!

blubberquark 2021-05-07 06:21

This game really made me remember all the things I loved and hated about point-and-click adventure games. Especially the pixel hunting. Simon the Sorcerer had a feature where you could hold a key and it showed you all the clickable things. Fortunately, the shortness of the jam game format emphasizes the good parts before the bad parts get tedious.

If you want to make this a more full-length game, or a full-length game with a different story based on this engine, you'll need to address the pixel hunting.

ivan-nosov 2021-05-07 21:08

Like a real quest from the 90s. Big work!

osel13 2021-05-08 00:10

Loved it, only thing i miss iss the skip dialog option. The credits were amazing, Good Job :D

fueelin 2021-05-08 00:17

That was great! All aspects were super well done! I loved the twist - you really sold it by dialing up the creepiness and intensity right before pulling the rug out from under us! Excellent work!

digital-bacon 2021-05-08 00:53

Nice game, love the graphics and music. Found the way text appeared to be really annoying, though: I'd've preferred something that showed all the text at once, and without the tapping sound (which doesn't really make sense in the context, it's not like she's using a typewriter  ). Very good entry!

niall-chandler 2021-05-08 11:35

It's incredible how high quality this game is! The art, the music, the sound, everything is of a level of quality above and beyond what I would ever expect of a game jam game!

100th-coin 2021-05-08 17:47

Absolutely incredible! I love how the paintings with mysterious writing that you find in the first minute or so of the game, are the developers! (or so I assume. after turning on the lights I read some of them.) Super impressive game. The puzzles were great! The only reason I found the cigarettes was from one of the screenshots posted on the itch.io page, ha! I clicked on the bed numerous times, but I didn't even think to try searching that one specific corner of it.

The music is outstanding! Marvelous work all around. The story was charming, especially when you run into people after the lights are on. "The drink was a little funky though" hahahaaaaaa! get pranked. Outstanding job.

kaytrill 2021-05-08 19:25

Absolutely gorgeous game for a game jam. Certain objects should stand out a bit more for the nicotine guy. Love the end game humor. <3

emmyoop 2021-05-08 20:21

Wow. Great game! The few bugs but were very minor. Would be better if I could click through to speed up the text. A couple times I accidently reclicked things and was annoying going through all the text again.

leyamez 2021-05-08 21:35

I loved this game! Played it live at https://www.twitch.tv/leyamez

Was super fun to play, and challenging too! Loved the style of game, one I didn't see in this jam yet... loved the ending too how all the lights came on! (You can tell I loved this game)

A delightful and awesome game, thanks for bringing it by the stream :two_hearts:

asfdfdfd 2021-05-08 22:23

Woahhh, so cool! It's something i'd like to spend my bucks to!

joe40001 2021-05-08 22:32

Really good art and music. Was there a secret ending? I never got to use the mask.

Only other thing was I clicked the broom thinking it was the "wrong" option but it was the right one so I never got to see what happened if you did actually get the feathers.

Also during the bright time you can visually clip behind the wall near the grandfather clock, just fyi.

Very impressive game.

starerik 2021-05-09 07:23

@joe40001 Thank you for the kind words! The mask was only for revealing the keyhole. We’re currently doing a post-jam version where you can actually put the mask on. And we’ve fixed the clipping issue with the clock. There’s no secret ending with the feathers. She will just say ”no, I have to leave”. You’re supposed to click on the broom. Thanks for playing!

zessirb 2021-05-09 09:29

Loved it, an excellent game! Music, art, humor... liked everything about it, well done

And it's nice to see some godot games!

thegamerasd 2021-05-09 11:08

Great work, I loved the atmosphere!

deepnight 2021-05-09 13:52

Very solid game, and very impressive content for a 72h entry :) I had some very cool "Maniac Mansion" moments, and the dialogs are really well written. Special mention for the guy with a knife. Good job!

ondy1985 2021-05-09 18:53

Excellent submission. The only thing that annoyed was the slow text when interacting with objects. Then sometimes when I was clicking to dismiss the text (or at least I thought it makes the text go faster), I accidentally clicked on the object again and had to go through the dialog one more time :-/. So frustrating. Otherwise, it's pretty epic what you achieved in 72 hours.

tom-ruxley 2021-05-10 02:43

I loved the art and fun twists!

kleinzach 2021-05-10 03:03

Outstanding work! Great job getting a point and click adventure working in time. I love the shift from everything being spooky to being normal. Well done across the board.

zimennik 2021-05-10 14:51

Hey. I made a video of your game. I hope, you like it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXa1tb-HJWU

Excellent game! Really good pixel art, great writing, and a nice mystery.

pikario 2021-05-10 20:41

Great game ! Got stuck at finding the ligther, had to check playtrough video.

But really love the atmosphere, the interactions and the twists ! (also the credits room ^^)

I wish I could see again the mysterious cat !

Great job !

deathstorm 2021-05-11 19:44

A gorgerous Game. The Graphics are really awesome and the Music/Sound is totally on point.

I loved the two twists in the game and it was a huge fun to explore the game.

A great job for such a short time and especialy for that feel of polish of the Game.

Well Done

tentaclemax 2021-05-11 20:27

Fantastic art, very fun story, good music! Great atmosphere! It was really fun adventure!

chrisap 2021-05-11 23:44

The art and music are incredible, the mystery of the house is fun to explore and I love the plot twists. Very entertaining mystery to solve! <3

coleslaughter 2021-05-12 20:56

[Thanks for submitting your game to the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1015845981?t=01h14m08s)

This game was absolutely wild. The audio, visuals, narrative, and everything about this game was top-notch. I do with I had an in-game cursor that told me what was and wasn't interactive, but that's such a small complaint compared to everything else you all managed to accomplish with this one. Nice job!!

alprog 2021-05-13 00:58

Amazing art. Tons of amazing art! Love it! Not quite on the theme by the way.

alaah 2021-05-13 10:03

This is the indisputable winner of this jam. I'm blunt and good at pointing out mistakes, but this game doesn't have any. You left me speechless for a solid while, as you saw live. It's insane how you animated even some one-time events with rotoscopic accuracy. I don't think I've seen anything like this in a jam, at least not in recent memory.

elvendan 2021-05-15 10:10

Great submission. Music and art work very well with the tone. Nice oldschool quest game!

marcus-otterstrom 2021-05-15 19:13

This game is really not my type of game, yet it had me keep going all the way through the end. The art style is beautiful and the music fits super well. I would've appreciated being able to skip the dialogue though, it did get a bit slow when I accidentally triggered some of the longer dialogues. But I really like the dialogue system otherwise, with its animal crossing-like character and having different delays and tones of each letter. That is surprisingly hard to get right in my opinion, last time I tried implementing something similar it didn't end up nearly as good at this (and that was for a week game jam). I really like how the plot resolves, really nice storytelling with all the small details. It feels rewarding to click around and spend time exploring even though the objective is complete. Fantastic entry.

poorwill 2021-05-15 22:08

Well it's an amazing effort. A very well built and polished game. The only things that I felt were missing, were some minor quality of life elements. For example a changing mouse cursor to note interactable items when hovering or make clicking on an object more satisfying; a double click to move faster; clicking to skip text roll.

That being said, these things are definitely not something that anyone could expect to be in a jam game and these kinds of game feel touches would blow the scope too big. So they are rather ideas for an actual future version that people would probably happily pay money for. Good job!

paul-nadan 2021-05-16 06:30

This was an awesome experience! I really liked how you could go back to all the same things at the end and get new descriptions. The music was also extremely well done, especially how it switches to a different tone depending on what's happening in the story. Figuring out how to use the key at the beginning actually took me quite a while, I think some kind of tutorial would have been helpful (at least for using the inventory). Overall I really enjoyed this entry, great work!

kirby 2021-05-16 13:40

BEST GAME EVER.

adam-gould 2021-05-16 22:41

Absolutely incredible. I can barely believe it was made for LD!

ntimi 2021-05-17 15:16

Oh wow. That was FUN! We made an adventure game too - and I thought WE had a lot of polish. But your submission is something else. I really liked the whole theme of the house in the dark where you couldn't really see much. It was really nice exploring everything again along the course of the game. Some objects were a bit hard to find, but you included enough hints everywhere that I didn't get stuck anywhere.

There was a surprising amount of animation! That (combined with the nice graphics) made exploring the house a real treat. The music was great to listen to, it captured the mood nicely and varied a lot, so it keeps beeing interesting to listen for a looong time.

Thanks for your submission!

okamit 2021-05-17 17:07

@ntimi Thank you! I will check out your game as well!

nonumbersgames 2021-05-17 19:54

That start was hilarious! The fall sound was great, I really felt it. The cat sound also got me good.

Very beautiful art, nice character animations. Great sounds right from the start, really good music. All these together with entertaining item descriptions created a wonderful atmosphere.

Cigarettes under sheets looked like pillow, so couldn't find it, had to take a peak at the screenshots to see the solution. Everything else was pretty straightforward.

Kind of expected the first twist, so the second one was really unexpected.

Overall, it was a really enjoyable game from start to finish, thank you for the opportunity to experience it!

cjgladback 2021-05-18 00:58

Thank you for letting me play this on stream (forever ago)! [Here's that clip](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1023715851?t=0h15m16s) if you ever want to watch through that first-play feedback again.
