LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Me, Myselfs and I by davision 2020-10-06T13:48:16Z

very interesting concept! I managed to grab a gun and shoot a couple of my clones but couldn't really figure out what to do past that point. Whenever I looked down or dropped down the hole in the centre I'd just teleport back to the starting area. I'd suggest redesigning the very beginning of your game it's rather confusing. The shooting could use some feedback, be that a spark where the bullet hits or a muzzle flash. Your animations worked great and it was pretty cool to see each of your characters all moving in unison! Cool idea!

Zog's Hopeless Abyss by ramza 2020-10-08T08:33:11Z

Interesting game! The puzzles were pretty cool, the platforming was tricky but not impossible, the sound is pretty good. I did notice that it was faster to move forward while strafing, if you wanna check that out. It'd also be cool to have some confirmation in game on what things do, like those glowing platforms and such. Other than that, good game!

Infinitely Worse - A Necromantic Adventure by mikelovesrobots 2020-10-06T13:14:34Z

Pretty interesting clicker game! Very clean visual style and an interesting undead twist. Wouldn't go wrong with a buy x10 button or the like, my mouse hand would thank you :p

Galdir's Quest by Nehvis 2020-10-08T09:50:01Z

Cool game! The gameplay feels really smooth and responsive, the platforming is pretty tight and I didn't feel like any of my deaths weren't my fault. The music was a little repetitive after a while but it wasn't annoying or anything. I do think that maybe after collecting a beer and going back to the start, you'd get some way of turning off or circumventing certain platforming puzzles with your new tool, as some of them really kicked my butt even after I'd gotten past them the first or second time, which made it a bit of a drag to get myself back to the new part of the level I could access.

The art is really cute, I like the little dwarf. I hope he drinks responsibly, at least for a dwarf.

Great game! :D

Leopold the Lich by Grentacular 2020-10-08T08:04:27Z

Excellent game! I played the original jam version and not your updated one. The gameplay loop is pretty fun, the keyboard controls were a little confusing, but once I plugged in my gamepad the game was a real blast! The art style is super cute and cartoony, love the colours and the feel, the animations are fun and funny, your artist(s) did a great job! I loved both ending screens too, very funny.

At times the character's movement felt a little bit like sliding, and the penalty for death was a little vague, that true Game Over is when the knights reach your castle. I also seem to have fully bypassed using the store it seems.

The game's got a good sense of humour as well! All around excellent game. I hope you have the chance to keep working on it!

Stuck in the Room by ianmust 2020-10-08T07:24:31Z

A very interesting game! The graphics are alright, the pixel art is nice to look at, though your footsteps sound is a little overbearing at times, and I felt like your music was maybe playing over itself? The puzzles are fairly challenging, and it felt like your reset levers could have been better serviced as just being a load/reload button the player had access to at all times, paired with a full reset, as there where times that I had soft-locked myself and saved past that softlock which was rather tedious.

I'd also constrain your player and your crates to some sort of grid, as there were times where I was unsure if the crate I was walking towards was in my way and pushed it accidentally, or if I pushed a crate somewhere I thought I could get around it but turned out the space was too small so I just pushed it somewhere I couldn't get it out again and had to pull the green lever. Your pixel art style would easily make that kind of thing readable.

Besides that, Good work guys!

while(true) by PizzArt64 2020-10-08T09:05:11Z

Really interesting game! I quite enjoyed it. The puzzles were challenging and I definitely felt smart when I completed them. The art is really nice, and the puzzle mechanics were easy to understand. I did at some point mute the audio, but the music was alright.

I really enjoyed this one, good job!

Crocodial by David-Liddelow 2020-10-08T08:18:10Z

Pretty great game! I really had a lot of fun with this one, I think the closest I got to my rival was 9km though, it starts pretty easy to learn but the difficulty curve never left me feeling super overwhelmed or that my death was the game's fault or anything.

If I could make a change, I'd maybe find a way to move the spell wheel somewhere closer to the centre of the screen as I felt that most times when I went to look up at it to see what it was doing I'd almost, or crash into something. So I ended up just spam clicking my way down the mountain :P not sure if that was intended.

The sound effects are good! minimal and not too overwhelming, some music would be nice if you end up spending more time on this game. The art is really cute, I loved the bazooka bears? Very scary once they were mounted on cars too. Haha.

Good work!

STUPOR by RedneckChan 2020-10-06T13:24:10Z

Interesting game, a little buggy. The visual style is cute and none of the assets look too out of place. The gameplay is pretty basic, thought I would suggest adding in some kind of hit confirmation for your combat, an animation would be nice, or even a sound or just a red flash on the enemy, as it is right now I didn't know if i was damaging something until I had killed it. the sound effects, especially the walking sound effect needs some work. The level design is pretty nice, none of the puzzles or platforming were too hard or boring. Nice game!

Last Train Home by Caladrius 2020-10-06T13:36:36Z

This game was pretty great! It was funny in a very chaotic way and I while I found myself a little frustrated with some of Hubert's stumbling I never wasn't enjoying the challenge of drunkenly trying to stumble up the train and fling myself at my fellow passengers. Loved it!

Vitruvian Escape! by Holtzzy223 2020-10-08T08:43:04Z

Interesting game! a bit on the difficult side, and I'm not sure how many of my deaths were my fault and how many were from the controls being a little bit slippery. The art is alright, though I think with the vitruvian man as your subject you could have been a little more creative with the sprite.

The platforming was fairly solid, I knew when I was going to land, the wall jumping could have been explained a little better in the first level, but once I got the hang of it, it was fairly responsive most of the time, sometimes my character would just vibrate on the side of the wall unsure if he was supposed to go up or not, perhaps I was jumping improperly?

Other than that, a solid game! Good work :D

Overrun by GameDevMatt 2020-10-06T13:55:55Z

Really neat game! It's easy to learn, but has a very nice difficulty curve, I always felt like I was being challenged but I didn't feel like the game was being unfair. I'd think about maybe having some indication as to where the player is aiming on the screen, but I found that spinning and firing worked fairly well. the music and visuals are all really nice too, a good visual design and good music and sound effects. a really solid entry! :D

Corporate by Peche et Tradition 1867 2020-10-08T05:57:18Z

Really nice game! It's got a simple loop, uses the theme well, and it is pretty easy to learn, but still gets very challenging as the game goes on. The art style is really nice, and the office vibe is certainly there, your ambient noise is great too! Is that a stock sound effect? Or did you just layer in your groups VOIP chats during the Jam as noise? Really great entry! :D

Oops Loops by Samshine 2020-10-08T08:48:29Z

Very cute! Loved the use of stop motion, not something you see very often, and a great fit for a jam game I think. Quite funny too, I had a good chuckle as I'm sure looking at the comments a few of us did, interact with the oven mitt monster as the first thing we did in the game.

I wasn't sure what some of the items like the scissors or the toilet paper roll did, unless they were just there to be red herrings.

The soundscape was quite nice, and the characters talking was very cute. I'd love to see more stuff like this! Great work!

CTRL BASE ZERO by ted 2021-05-04T07:21:21Z

Very impressive game! You've got a great handle on art, music and sound effects and the puzzles work well. I'd love to see more of this and see where it goes. The only problem is that it's too short :P

Run Miner Joe by Rolle 2021-05-05T02:54:01Z

Interesting game! had a strange audio bug that seemed to be the music looping over itself on each restart that refreshing the page seemed to fix. Other than that the game ran well, interesting choice of sounds, the controls worked, well made.

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-05-05T02:50:38Z

Super cool game, the art is amazing, the platforming feels really good, the fire and water effects are great, the dialogue is cool, I hope you get some time to add sound to this in the future, you have a really solid project here!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-05-02T10:37:03Z

Excellent game! Super original idea, fit the jam theme really well! Took me about 50 minutes to finish, That last room sure was a doozey. Music and art are excellent ,gameplay loop and mechanic are fantastic, superb job, great work!

The Depths of Despair by Michael Feldman 2021-05-04T06:35:11Z

Lovely looking game, I love the simple art and use of triangles, the lighting as well is quite nice. Cool puzzles, not too difficult, the combat was effective, and the boss fight at the end was pretty cool. Had a good time with this one, great job!

Sunken Seas by TomPendergrass 2021-05-05T03:47:01Z

Pretty interesting game! Quite enjoyed this one. The controls were cool, the set pieces you guys had in there were really cool and added immensely to the production value of the game. Cool puzzles, the AI was not super predictable but easy to sidestep when distracted with the flares. Pretty cool game!

Deeper-Geddon by heidelbert 2021-05-02T09:31:59Z

Super solid game, had a real blast playing it. placing the drills and removing some buildings were a little finnicky, having to aim for the bottom right corner of each, but once I figured that out it was smooth sailing. The art style is fantastic, and the audio is pretty fitting too. I saved the planet with 2 minutes to spare! Good starting mix of building items too, not too much complexity for conveyor belt game with time limits. Though some T or X sections of track would be nice. Great entry!

20.000 LIGHT YEARS deep in THE SKY by Arivenzys 2021-05-04T07:31:45Z

Excellent game! very unique gameplay loop, I loved the art the music and the excellent voice acting. The locations are all refreshingly original and the humour is excellent. Solid entry for the jam, good work!

River, Carry Me Away by Noire 2021-05-05T01:34:16Z

Very cool game! Good to see a narrative experience in a jam, the music, sound effects and art are very well done. A really cool spin on the jam theme and an interesting gameplay experience. Well done!

Selkö by Doot 2021-05-13T06:33:47Z

Fantastic entry, I really liked this one, the art was really cute and the audio was great. I loved all the little interactions with the fish, like them following the light or the puffer fish puffing up when you shone it on them. This game has a lot of character, you all did a great job! (Loved the ending too!)

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-05-04T07:42:51Z

Interesting game, an interesting spin on the text narrative game you find on phones. Some of the story felt a little like the rattling off a wikipedia article rather than a smooth flow of conversation, but I can't imagine how difficult it would be to write for something like this. interesting entry!

Blackout by Frasse 2021-05-05T02:39:42Z

Fantastic game! This one has plenty of character, I really enjoyed playing through this one. The art and music were wonderful, I loved the writing, cool puzzles, super good game!

ARTerial (the AI-generated art museum) by MEGA Marlon 2021-05-02T07:32:37Z

Very cool concept, I love the idea of getting lost in a procedural art gallery. Had a slight issue with the short, wide picture frame near the corner not highlighting when I had a painting of it's size hung on it, but other than that the game ran and played flawlessly. The art is very interesting, I don't know what I expected AI generated art to look like. Great use of the concept! I got a B+ :)

Deep 90 by Bit Assembly 2021-05-02T10:54:01Z

Commenting here so people can see it. "On the first stage, there is a switch hidden at the t section of the pipes, its not usually visible due to a bug in the lightning engine."

Our bad! a problem with the lighting bake inside of Unity. Just walk up to the T section of the leaking pipes and you should see against the dark a piece of geometry that if you click will open the door to the first elevator. I've included a screenshot of it on the Jam entry. Sorry about the confusion!

Thank you all so much for playing our game! I've been working the past two weeks or so on a post-jam version that is more polished and has remedied some of the bugs you may have encountered in the Jam version of the game, as well as implementing feedback that was given in this thread.

I'd love if you guys would be willing to give Deep 90 a second play, and let us know what you thought on the Itch page.

Thankyou all again for playing our game and leaving a comment!

Nostril Navigator by Xenon27 2021-05-05T01:38:10Z

A little gross, but I had a good chuckle while playing it. Well designed loop and a fun art style, the sounds are very realistic I imagine. Good job!

Deeper Sea by LRVStudios 2021-05-05T03:05:31Z

Cool game, Interesting concept, some of the game mechanics needs some fleshing out, like the inside and gun cameras, they could be folded into the main screen I feel. Ran well, the music is fitting and the sounds are cool. I hope you keep working on this!

Subterrene by SamarthMP5002 2021-05-02T07:57:26Z

Very interesting game! Fits the theme very well, the gameplay loop is simple, but I think needs a bit more challenge. The art is swell, and the sounds add a lot. Great entry!

Amazing Rescue: Space Engineers by Cam Moore 2021-05-05T04:04:19Z

Very cute game, the intro was excellent, now I wish to have a space picnic with my friends.

The games a really interesting puzzler, I failed a bunch but it never felt like the game cheated me, and I got there in the end, working out the sequence was pretty cool. The art is pretty! and the music is well done, I also liked the sound effects. Good game!

I'm So Deep by liammasters 2021-05-05T02:15:41Z

Very interesting concept! I came up with a few good poems before I died alone in the trash, haha. Super unique game, art and music are all well done. Never seen something like this before, well done!

Asterisk by Crychair 2021-05-05T01:56:38Z

Really well done game! Cool take on the jam theme, really nice art and gameplay and a very charming voice over with great music. The digging could use a little more weight or oomph, but other than that it's a really solid game, well done!

To The Core by Pe7e 2021-05-05T03:54:38Z

Cool game! A different type of puzzler. I dig the idea, it's a solid gameplay loop, I'd love if the sequence didn't reset between runs, it makes the game feel a little artificially padded, but other than that the art was good, and the sounds were fine. Good game!

Cave Expedition by ABplayz 2021-05-04T06:56:09Z

Congrats on your first game! It's quite interesting I like how you created the minimap. As a tonal choice I'd abstain from ill-fitting music if you can't find any that work with your theme, sometimes nothing is better than just anything. Hope you keep making games! This one shows a lot of promise.

Into The Depth by Szymon OGD 2021-05-02T09:18:26Z

Really good entry! Ran real nice and I got to a depth of 1449. :D The audio is real nice, did you make the reload noise with your mouth? haha. Loved the use of effects, the Submarine model was really good looking too. Great game!

Dwarven Depths by steelax 2021-05-05T03:24:46Z

Cool game! a good base for further expansion, nice art and good use of music and audio assets. I like the puzzle design and would love to see where you would be able to take this.

Deeper Into The Forest by siberpunk01 2021-05-04T07:10:53Z

Interesting game! the art style looks really nice, I dig the hand drawn assets. The jumping was a little flighty and the fact that you reset the game upon death is unfortunate. It would be cool to see this game polished, good entry!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-05T02:06:53Z

Really cool game! Love the painting mechanic, adds a really interesting aspect to the platforming. The boss fight at the end was a little cramped, but I beat it by hugging the wall, dodging and shooting paint at it till it exploded. Overall really well made! Good work :D
