The concept is well executed with nice graphics, good sound and straight forward controls. I wish you have been able to pull box, not only push them. But that would have ruined a lot of riddles, wouldnt it?

william-overton 2020-10-06 10:37

I like it, goo execution and nice level design :)

luckyfeathers 2020-10-06 10:40

Graphics are great. Music fits the style, although it's a bit too loud and squeaky for my liking. Gameplay is quite good once I got the hang of it. Was confused at first about what the different levers actually did. Maybe this could have been made more clear? Some of the colors of the boxes were very different from their button counterpart, especially the blue one. I assume you're just adding a tint to the texture? A separate texture would have made wonders. Lastly, I would have liked a pause menu and a a button to quit the game.

Oh and I don't think your game is always solvable? There's no solution to this one, right? Or am I just being dumb? Either way, a way to restart the level would be nice. http://prntscr.com/uu08si

majadroid 2020-10-06 10:40

Sadly I am really bad at puzzle games, so I was not able to solve your puzzle. But anyway, nice little game. I like the mood especially because of the music.

neqit 2020-10-06 10:41

@william-overton and @majadroid Thank you guys for your feed back we appreciate this!

neqit 2020-10-06 10:45

@luckyfeathers Yeah, it is solvable, try to find another way, good luck :)

ianmust 2020-10-06 10:46

@j0ye, thank you! Yeah, we even implement this mechanic in the game but then realized that all puzzles will be very simple

ianmust 2020-10-06 10:49

@luckyfeathers we would like to improve all aspects of the game, but there wasn't enough time. And about this level - we checked it several times and it is definitely solvable

sacredbacon 2020-10-06 10:51

That escalated quickly. I like the checkpoint system and the graphics. Thanks for the game!

neqit 2020-10-06 10:54

@sacredbacon Thank you for playing our game :)

luckyfeathers 2020-10-06 10:59

@ianmust Oh, I understand the time constrains, no worries :) I may have sounded a bit harsh, it was a good game! As for the level, I know the level is possible to solve, but is it posslbe to solve from the situation I was in? If the player can end up in unsolvable situations you should have a feature to restart level.

neqit 2020-10-06 11:03

@luckyfeathers Actually you have that possibility, just use leavers. Red one for creating checkpoint and Green one for load checkpoint. You can make as much checkpoints as you want. And you can restore any checkpoint by dragging Green leaver (you can go till the start of the level, this is constant checkpoint). Just try to use all mechanics of the game :)

ianmust 2020-10-06 11:11

@luckyfeathers I guess the comment from @neqit helped you. I was hoping that the tutorial would help with understanding the basics of the game, but apparently, it didn't

domnomnom 2020-10-06 11:59

Very well done on the portal mechanics! I like the attention to detail on 90 degree rotations where the controls only change once you are fully through it.

I thought I was stuck in the game until I read the comments here, since I moved boxes into a corner and then activated the save level a bunch of times so when I loaded, I was essentially in the same spot. Maybe prevent saving if nothing has changed?

A minor thing that could be improved: if no movement key is held, the character should keep visually facing the same direction. Seems a bit odd when I press W a couple of times.

Good ambient sound/music.

neqit 2020-10-06 12:29

Hey @domnomnom thank you for your comment, we will notice your ideas. about face direction, we tried to do this but it was a bit buggy with portal mechanics and we had no time to fix it :D

zepapa 2020-10-06 15:10

Fun puzzle game! I always love to see people making puzzle games in the jam. I felt the movements and traveling between levels were quite smooth, didn't feel to fast or too slow. The puzzles were straight forward but still some challenging. I definitely pushed a block into a corner once or twice and got it stuck (oops). Overall, fun game!

ruling-spear 2020-10-06 19:35

I like this kind of puzzle. The save and load mechanic is great. My only issue was that I had no way to retry a level if I had accidentally pushed a block into a corner. I had to quit the game and start again. Other than that, great game!

nickpofig 2020-10-06 20:23

Hi @ruling-spear, thank you for your feedback. I am glad to know that people like our game. And yeah, because of shortage in time and overall hurry- we forgot to mention that you could use both levers more than one time and by that manage your puzzle-progress. We will try to be better the next time! :D

afestivedolphin 2020-10-06 20:33

This is a fantastic idea! I think it's been mentioned before but there were times I got stuck and there wasn't any way to undo it. Maybe like a special thing in the room you can hit to reset the puzzle? Otherwise the spritework and music are great, along with the gameplay itself!

ianmust 2020-10-06 20:54

@afestivedolphin thank you! Yeah, sorry for our bad tutorial

You can use both levers more than one time: Red to save checkpoint and Green to load.

nickpofig 2020-10-06 20:54

Thank you @afestivedolphin for your feedback. However, there are levers to save/load any amount of checkpoints for a current level and they were mentioned in the tutorial!

thomas-carey 2020-10-07 01:54

Really cool puzzler! Only suggestion I have is to have some way to prevent the player from getting boxes stuck in corners so they don't have to reset.

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 09:40

I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection

velocitycss 2020-10-07 13:03

This is so fun. I will be coming back to this at a later date. Thank you for a reset lever, I needeed it :D ALOT! I won't mention the levers and the tuorial as you have covered that in your replies to other comments. :V:

ar-borno 2020-10-07 14:14

Cool concept and gameplay was also good, it would be great if there is a html5 version available for lazy people like me 🐱.. overall great entry

marinee 2020-10-07 19:06

Amazing idea and gameplay! Congrats with very extraordinaly game! I very liked your game!

neqit 2020-10-07 20:47

@velocitycss @ar-borno @marinee thanks guys! It's very cool to have such feedback! And yeah, we are thinking about HTML5 version :)

100th-coin 2020-10-08 03:58

Woah that's creative! I really enjoyed the puzzles you set up too! Great work!

noteworthy 2020-10-08 07:24

A very interesting game! The graphics are alright, the pixel art is nice to look at, though your footsteps sound is a little overbearing at times, and I felt like your music was maybe playing over itself? The puzzles are fairly challenging, and it felt like your reset levers could have been better serviced as just being a load/reload button the player had access to at all times, paired with a full reset, as there where times that I had soft-locked myself and saved past that softlock which was rather tedious.

I'd also constrain your player and your crates to some sort of grid, as there were times where I was unsure if the crate I was walking towards was in my way and pushed it accidentally, or if I pushed a crate somewhere I thought I could get around it but turned out the space was too small so I just pushed it somewhere I couldn't get it out again and had to pull the green lever. Your pixel art style would easily make that kind of thing readable.

Besides that, Good work guys!

ianmust 2020-10-08 08:57

@blobo thank you :smiley:

@noteworthy omg, you are absolutely right about music! We didn't notice it before  I think that the grid would improve the gameplay and we would have avoided these problems. However, we wanted to give the player a little more freedom of movement. And thanks for your feedback!

pedrocoden 2020-10-10 17:29

Nice game! I love 2d games

archimagus 2020-10-11 22:34

Not really my kind of game. I wasn't able to complete much of the game, I found the controls to be pretty difficult, with that on top of the puzzles not being my sort of thig I didn't get very far. I kept getting the boxes stuck in corners by having them push when I didn't mean to and stuff like that.

ianmust 2020-10-16 12:45

@archimagus thanks a lot for you comment! I agree, the control doesn't feel really smooth because we didn't set up collisions properly

noah100 2020-10-26 17:14

The game seems pretty interesting, I really like the concept, but I can't seem to play it because the resolution isn't working for my screen. The edges are nonexistent so I'm just traveling blind to find where I'm going or what to do. Any help or advice, because I do really like the mechanic and the concept with the levers

ianmust 2020-10-27 17:13

@noah100 Hey, I'll try to help)

Сan I ask you to describe a little more what exactly is happening on the screen? Screenshots, information about the resolution - everything could be useful
