LD46 — Keep it alive

The Tribe by Tommy 2020-05-01T16:52:14Z

Simple but efficient, I got into it and it entertained me a while !

I liked the minimalist percussions soundtrack which fits the theme, and also the way the background changes as the population grows (took me some time to notice it). More explanations about the strategy of discarding and copying cards would be nice because it's not easy to figure out those mechanics in early game.

Overstock! by Random-storykeeper 2020-05-01T20:08:12Z

I love the music and the sound effects !!! And the little introductory cinematic is a good idea too.

About the gameplay, I think it makes the game a bit random that nothing can be done to prevent the customers to bump into the cleaning monster.

F.I.R.E. (Fel Ine Rescue Endeavors) by brenno263 2020-05-01T20:33:39Z

The gameplay is really working ! The idea of fire propagating between rooms and intensifying with time is great and I can easily imagine how the game may be extended with various levels. I had hard time with the second level which was quite a challenge for me (and that's good !).

This is my personal taste but I think that the soundtrack (quite "dark") was not really fitting the overall mood of the graphics and theme.

Seymour by ruiznick 2020-04-26T19:33:02Z

I liked the graphic design which definitely sets up an intriguing atmosphere, in particular the main character (What he is doing there alone ? Why is he raising plants ?).

I didn't not understand what to do on my first trial and had to play a second time to figure it out, I suggest adding more to the tutorial. I also found the gameplay was quite slow and got repetitive, but for a game made in 2 days it's a nice effort !

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

SandLoop by Ogma 2020-10-13T21:16:42Z

OH MY GOSH, THAT'S ACTUALLY A WILD FLYING JEAN-GUY !!!

It's a bit bugged (sometimes Jean-Guy gets trapped off screen or do weird things), but it's cute :)

Suggestions: - The timer is counting in base 100, it should be in base 60. - A soundtrack of course ! - I liked that you added those yellow discs to add difficulty, and this clearly points a way in which the gameplay could be extended with more elements of difficulty being added with time (e.g. variation in the rotational speed of the hourglass). - For the graphics, you could add various backgrounds changing with time and why not a Jean-Guy ageing from baby to grandpa !

Hide and Seek by DDRKirbyISQ 2020-10-13T11:13:56Z

Hats off !!! I thought while playing that it's the kind of game I would be proud to have programmed, it's so refined and it just tickles all the boxes for me.

Thank you for this experience !

Free The Rollies! by gamesplusjames 2020-10-11T02:59:56Z

Nice idea ! The graphics and the music totally fit together. (I also had trouble with the elevator in level 3, web version)

I Can't Get Anything Done by Dis0rder 2020-10-12T22:20:03Z

My favorite game so far !!! YES for the epic introductory animation, YES for the soundtrack, YES for the mood, YES for the hamster cage and moreover, YES for the first game that I play where I really find a feature innovative: that game mechanics with the "x" button is surely interesting ! I was also pleased with the physics of the elevator, it's only a detail but it does make a difference.

The only thing is I'm not sure that I got what it was about :D

Pufferfish Panic : Proliferating Pressure by Teanan 2020-10-11T22:22:19Z

Quite fun to try to optimise those pufferfish "supply chains" :D And the soundtrack reminded me of Brian Eno ! Not sure about the zooming out mechanism though. And what is the difference between the basic shelf and the one with a towel on it ?

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-11T03:38:30Z

I made it to the "escape sequence" but then I got stuck where you have a sentinel just upstairs after the checkpoint mirror. The sentinels are quite slow and that can make the waiting phases a bit frustrating, especially if you die just after. Also it was not clear to me how the game fitted the theme (but maybe this is because I didn't get to the end ?)

But overall nice game with beautiful graphics and atmosphere ! Was this influenced by the game "Celeste" ?

Cattle Ropin' by nandelind 2020-10-11T15:24:43Z

Nice little game ! It is not clear to me how the mechanic works (is it the quickness with which you drag & drop, or the length or the drag, or both which determine the throwing ?) but I managed to catch 15 cows !

Some suggestions: - It gets loooong, I think the time allowed could be reduced ;) - Adding an end screen. - And why not milking that humorous vibe of the description all the way through (cows with different assets, audio for the cowboy, etc.) !

Where's my glasses? by landosilva 2020-10-10T22:33:18Z

I would have really like to figure it out but I couldn't manage to make the mole go where I wanted it to go, the direction chosen felt like random to me :(

The introductory animation and screens are great, as well as the graphics ! I just felt like the soundtrack did not match with them though.

Edge of Ludum Dare by danielblanco3d 2020-10-10T23:03:09Z

"Tienes resaca": eso es la loop :D

(Un poquito corto, me hubiera gustado mas contenido.)

Spaghetti Quest by peterfonts 2020-10-14T13:08:50Z

- Hats off for the theme, for relating "stuck in a loop" to rolling spaghetti in a fork, I think you deserve 5 stars ! - I love the italian voices, especially "L'appetito viene mangiando" :D - What is missing is the name of the dish when you go to the next level, it would be even funnier. - This game deserves to be played, I encourage you to rate other games to increase its visibility.

Wild Loop by Cerebral Bore 2020-10-10T20:29:38Z

Amazing job on the graphics, and I also liked the hints of humour in the dialogues and the sheriff situation, a direction in which I could easily see the game being expanded. In terms of gameplay it gets repetitive of course, but I found it great that just when I was thinking about quitting the game, it actually asked me if I wanted to :D (Well, at least it led me to this existential thinking: do bandits always escape to the east ?)

Loop World by helekopeter 2020-10-10T21:43:04Z

That was PURE FUN, minimalistic but very effective, it got me going till the end !!!

The first level took me 43 seconds to complete: I had to understand that pressing an arrow while ejecting increases the range. And the last level of world 2 took me ages, it really forces you to master the physics of that "sandwich" man (the blue ring is especially punitive, a similar situation also occurs in the last level of world 3). I spotted one glitch: you can stand to the far left of a spiked cube. And one bug: when you duck on a moving cube, the character stays in place. And one idea that could be exploited during further development of the game: in the screen just before going to a next level, when the character falls it actually comes back on the top of the screen, a mechanic that could be used for other level designs.

The graphics are simple, yet I liked the moving background (I somehow felt like playing an old playstation 1 demo). Maybe adding a soundtrack could add to the atmosphere.

LoopHole by Polusi 2020-10-15T08:53:43Z

My immediate thought is that those minimalist graphics call for a full contemplative soundtrack, which could turn the vertical looping into a relaxing experience :)

Infinite Shootout by TheCeases 2020-10-10T22:13:22Z

Nice little game, and I really liked the bullet sound :)

Some improvement ideas for the soundtrack: during the audio recording make sure that your surrounding is completely silent (here for example we can hear various noises, a dog, a sink, voices, etc.). And about the music itself, try to play with a metronome, and ask somebody to play with you a bass line to accompany your melody.

Keep going, it'll get better and better with time !

Sound Breaker by The Space Key 2020-10-13T20:50:56Z

Unfortunately I also did not understand what you have to do to fix the "bug". Keep working on it :)

Dryad's Quest by Cyborg Studio 2020-10-13T10:26:21Z

Great pixel art (so much nostalgia !) and great mood !

Suggestions: - I think the melody of the music can be improved, the flute was a bit spicy for my sensitive ears :D (That being said the flute totally fits the theme of the dryad, as well as the third instrument which adequately evokes water.) It also got a bit repetitive for me, a longer track would make it perfect. - The comment "That plant is doing just fine" pops a lot, I think it would be better if it occurred less. - More gameplay, more gameplay !

Myself by iDunnyX 2020-10-15T08:39:47Z

Nice little game !

- The way I played it to add fun is that I kept the "D" button pressed, transforming the gameplay into jumping on time (which made me think could be a metaphor of depression, when you're dragged by things and doesn't have control). - I liked the graphical interplay between light/shadow and black/colour. - The first thunder sound is great but I think the following ones get quite annoying in the long run.

Stuck In A Loop by Wppjensen 2020-10-13T20:39:08Z

Link still broken.

Escape from House by alexplisov 2020-10-11T22:01:19Z

It's a short game but it really succeeded in setting a scary mood ! It reminded me of the game "Clock Tower".

I suggest adding the controls in the description :)

Stuck with myself by Kitcate 2020-10-10T20:01:18Z

I really liked the idea of relating depression to the theme "stuck in a loop" and I think the highlight here is definitely the mood ! The soundtrack is great, but I was surprise not to be able to rate it, is that an original one ?

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Cross by badpaul34 2021-05-12T21:00:29Z

I struggled to figure it out how to play and it was not already in the comments... so here it is, hoping it'll help: you can superimpose one vertical word and one horizontal word that have a common letter at that letter place.

The idea is really creative, well done ! I did not finish it however, it got a bit repetitive for me. Do the words actually tell a story ?

About the music, I could only hear some sound effects. So my suggestion would be to add a nice background music !

Bioluminescence by loveapplegames 2021-05-15T13:20:21Z

I found the concept so innovative and was even more surprised with the jellyfish part ! I really enjoy swarm algorithms, and I even found some aesthetical charm in the patterns formed, especially in level 4.

More levels exploring new gameplay ideas, and a nice ambient soundtrack would make it perfect ! Well done !

Fly Brie To The Moon by candlesan 2021-05-15T22:16:44Z

Hilarious !!! This calls for a CHEESY soundtrack ! An end animation would also be nice too to respond to the introduction.

Yawning Fathoms by primitive-concept 2021-05-16T07:17:04Z

Nice idea, I'd like to see more entries that are "terminal based" ! I found the event windows were disappearing quite fast, it was sometimes hard to get everything. I did not make it to the end though, the gameplay got a bit repetitive for me (not sure what some items are about). So I suggest working on that, for example a soundtrack could make the experience more immersive.

Mission: Descend by JuanJ7 2021-05-02T20:34:39Z

I restarted several times but I wasn't able to get back to the spaceship, either that I couldn't reach the wall by jumping or that I blew away the rocks away (Which you need to if you want to progress) :(

Nice artwork and atmosphere !

BreakEven by F1Krazy 2021-05-08T22:13:29Z

First of all congrats for this nice little game ! I liked the retro style, and the funny dialogues !

About the gameplay, I think it gets quite repetitive the third/fourth time around. The tank is quite hard to maneuver sometimes, and I found the enemies not really responsive. I also suggest increasing the challenge...

... and adding the possibility of crushing the soldiers !

Deeper and Deeper a Self Care Journey by saoi-games 2021-05-04T20:21:56Z

Not my cup of tea, but the idea is interesting :)

Space Time King by rkhadder 2021-05-02T21:01:09Z

Quite short indeed, but the concept is nice, I'd like to see it applied on more developed levels :)

It seemed to me that the character was unbeatable by the monsters, so a first suggestion would be to had health mechanics. Also, when going up one reality and falling into void I tried going quickly down one reality and the character got stuck (well, the going up key still works so that you can die, so maybe it was done on purpose).

It came out of space by Suchista 2021-05-15T22:41:26Z

I really like the art design. From the texture of the trees in the beginning to the colour madness of the end and the deformed trees, I found it great ! The music fits the mood, and some creepy sound effects would make it even better.

There were a lot of levels but it got a bit repetitive for me. However I found some thrills towards the end when it got trickier with a lot of enemies, and that's also were you get to really feel the mechanics of the game.

So my suggestion would be to dig on that stress vibe: being surprised by enemies making terrific sounds, adding some survival gameplay, and a psychological plot, etc.

Investigate by Adrocodes 2021-05-15T22:59:44Z

I like the idea, took me some time to figure out the whole gameplay with the hints given below the "Trespassing" bar though. I think the game could be extended to more levels exploring the mechanics possibility, and set to a police movie soundtrack.

Downfall by ReallyQbert 2021-05-15T23:05:47Z

Simple but effective and fun ! I liked the pixel effects and the soundtrack fitted the game. Well done !

What Happened in Addison's Grotto by Junebug 2021-05-04T20:53:29Z

So simple... and yet so effectively SCARY !!! Once I understood the mechanism, I loved the concept of gaining information by association of keywords. However I found it a bit confusing to understand at first.

Well done !

Blackout by Frasse 2021-05-18T20:22:48Z

Hats off for the music !

The Clinic by Cyborg Studio 2021-05-15T22:07:10Z

Nice audio, it fits well with the atmosphere of the dialogues, and I also liked the graphic design. I guessed it was about a Shakespeare's character being psychoanalysed but unfortunately I don't know his works enough to grasp the significance of the idea.

In term of gameplay however I found it a bit weak and I was also a bit disappointed that the images were the same each round. So let's go deeper ;)

Deeper and deeper by Adam Jewell 2021-05-18T20:43:42Z

What I really liked were the graphics that give the game a unique touch from the start. What I really disliked was the background noise which quite annoyed me after a while. I think you could improve the game by giving the money a purpose, and also you can increase the level of difficulty.

Deeper Every D8 by notanimposter 2021-05-16T08:08:50Z

Sorry but I did not like it at all: the gameplay was too easy and lacked diversity, the dialogues were meaningless, the typing sound got on my nerves, and I can't even rate the only interest of the game, the graphics !

Some bugs that I found: In fullscreen, when I click to change character I get a blackscreen and the typing sound going on continuously. Also it displays "I love you, $PLAYER_NAME" when a girl "fall" in love.

(Why they fall in love with a sheep that say yes to everything and has no personality is still a mystery to me though, is this game a big metaphor on the meaninglessness of certain relationships or a criticism of the fact that to seduce we're taught to please the other instead of being ourselves, or am I going to deep ?)

Raid' Simulator by alpacalypse 2021-05-04T21:13:08Z

Took me some time to figure out that that the mechanic of the enemy attacking, I think more gameplay instructions would be nice. It's also not clear to me which health bar corresponds to our character.

The gameplay idea is nice though, I could easily see it extended with different bosses having different attacks and requiring different strategies. Also hinted by the icons next to the health bars, I think there could be different classes of characters (healers, fighters) that could lead to interesting gameplay.

And what about the theme ?

DeepDream by Sayuri 2021-05-16T07:36:12Z

The idea of playing mini-games is really great, but somehow it didn't work for me. I felt it lacked some plot or purpose, and the connexion with the theme was a bit loose for me. I liked the sheep counting part, but it was a bit annoying to lose the bike and have to wait 15 seconds and I also got quite stuck with the rock, paper, scissors (is there only one winning possibility ?). Of course, I imagine the amount of work required to program this, so congratulations anyway !

Deep into the Forest by Collin Visser 2021-05-08T22:26:10Z

I was a bit hard for me to enjoy the game because I felt so bad for killing all those plants and insects, not to mention the cat  And I found it a bit scary too (That worm attack !!!)

I saw that you could buy items but I didn't need them to finish the game. So my first suggestion would be to make those items essential to beat the boss, that would make the player explore more. Also it was not clear to me how my attack improved after selecting it in the levelling up.

An idea I loved was the music during the final fight that evolved with the attacks ! So my second suggestion is to add a soundtrack with other responsive effects of that kind.

Abyssal Secrets by thain 2021-05-16T08:22:40Z

I tried several times but did not understand how to get items, so once I was chased by fishes, it was impossible for me to go on :(

I like the atmosphere though ! Why are graphics not rated ?
