Beautiful!

ambeurk 2021-04-26 18:45

I love the art, mood and procedural world! So far I lost all my games, I'm too often unable to go back to the ship in time :( Note : the bomb spawning ON the character head isn't very handy x)

mtwhateverest 2021-04-27 08:21

Nice game, I like the art style and music. Well done!

whysguy52 2021-04-27 08:23

The bomb spawning on my head got me trapped so many times LOL pretty fun. How do i get back though?

juanj7 2021-04-27 08:33

@whysguy52 Hi! You can climb back by pressing W/Up arrow next to a wall, and you can use the big rocks to reach some high walls.

@ambeurk @whysguy52 @mtwhateverest I'm glad you had fun playing and liked the art! The bomb spawning on the head actually has an utility: blowing up side walls without destroying the floor and the big rocks.

Thank you!

The game is very stylish, the art looks polished. I managed to win after a couple of tries, struggled a bit with the wall climbing appearing when it shouldn't (after bomb usage especially)

whysguy52 2021-04-27 08:35

@juanj7 ohhhhh because it doesn't hurt you. you only have energy, not HP. didn't catch that at first

juanj7 2021-04-27 08:59

@zhanna Thanks! I'm glad you liked the art and that you could win. Thank you for the feedback! definitely checking the climbing mechanic after the jam.

Great ambiance. The art is seriously well done - no awesome... no.. amazing.. Holy crap it's so good. I love the climbing mechanic , you can control it very granularly and it's so fun to fly up into the air when you do it quickly.

@lootfox-parker @sli Thank you for playing! I'm so happy you liked it, specially the art. Thanks!

Beautiful game. The gameplay is fluid and the music makes it relaxing to play. It's always fun to explode things

I found the piece of alien technology in day 1. It's good because I don't know how I could go up again hahahah

Great work

Great game! I definitely loved the art, the music and the overall idea of the game. Unfortunately, I loosed all my games haha. The bomb should perhaps spawn in the front, not above, but i think that is the only 'minor' ishue. Congrats!

Beautiful game, nice idea and great execution. Very creative work

nuclearredeye 2021-05-02 08:57

Nice artwork and nice idea. I didn't ever really manage to get too far into the world as getting back to the ship once my energy was low as almost always impossible. There were times also where to go deeper you have to plant a bomb which also destroys the rock piles meaning there isn't any way to reach a wall to climb. Overall though great effort, great idea and really impressive work for the time allowed.

Nice game, plate-former game with procedural world in game jam is very ambitious, well done! Graphics and musics create a nice mood and improve your experience. I like the climbing feature even if sometimes you're stuck in wall mostly at corners but that's a detail. Bomb spawning on your head is quite frustrating sometimes. Maybe that's me, I didn't get it, I really struggled to find energy, I always died before finding it  Anyway, good entry people, it's impressive, keep going!

Game looks very nice, movement is a little janky and boy am i bad at this game as well. Spent most of the time just failing to do anything worthwhile, just blowing up things and finding more bombs to blow up more ground. I also somehow managed to restart the game about 4 times without realising how i was doing that. But all in all it was a very nice game, especially the artwork which was superb.

After bombing half the planet

Pros:

- Liked the graphics and animations of main character - Simple concept - Soothing music

Cons:

- Controls are not that responsive, but it maybe due to environment - Bombs spawning only on top of you does not sound like a good idea (lost some bombs trying to get out of them) - Wall climbing is impossible between 2 pieces of wall tiles on top of eachother. I tried moving my character up and it got stuck in the middle of the wall. Happened a lot of times - There should always be a way to come back to ship. Sometimes I was left behind without any wall to climb back - Running next to ship to loose all energy rewards me with next day and energy tank?

Overall, cool game that needs some QoL polish. Good Job!

francesco 2021-05-02 20:34

I restarted several times but I wasn't able to get back to the spaceship, either that I couldn't reach the wall by jumping or that I blew away the rocks away (Which you need to if you want to progress) :(

Nice artwork and atmosphere !

I really liked the art style and the music, nice job. It would be nice to have an indication on how to conduct the search.

really nice entry - good control mechanics (mostly), nice graphics and sound - overall feel is quite polished. nice!

The art and animation is really good. The procedural generation is pretty impressive as well; the levels felt natural for the most part. While the presentation of the game is fantastic, I found the gameplay to be a serious detriment to my enjoyment of the game.

When it came to wall-climbing, my initial intuition was to hold the direction button against the wall, then tap the up arrow key. Doing so, however, consistently caused the character to get "stuck" on some geometry; usually, the rock placed on every intersection. Fighting against this instinct on holding the left or right directional key while wall-climbing help avoid this problem, but it took a lot of experimentation to learn to do so.

A crucial part of the game I found wasn't well-conveyed was how the extra energy tanks worked. If the energy tank went to red, I first thought having an extra tank would auto-refill it. To my surprise, it didn't. Then on the second playthrough, I attempted tapping N, and it dropped a tank. If I took this newly spawned tank, the red-tank indicator still was red (although it *was* full). This confused me significantly, and ended up trying to surface as quickly as possible. Ultimately, it turned out I had a lot more energy as I finally noticed the red meter depleting.

Frequently, the level generated a bunch of levels where, one wrong bomb placement would make the only way back impossible to traverse. Often, said level requires the player to make the bad bomb placement, anyway, to further proceed into the cave. This is very frustrating to go through, since once the player sees it, the only viable strategy is to return back to the ship, and start collecting energy tanks until the player feels comfortable exploring further.

There was also at least one moment in the game where successfully returning back to ship resulted in the game not registering, and my character dying as a consequence.

I did eventually find a planet where I can find the gear, but I felt it was entirely out of luck. For this rogue-like design, that's not a good feeling to have. I'd like to see this game baked a little more.

The graphics, the animation and the music are really great! I had a lot of difficulty going back up and climbing the walls, I can't tell if it's a problem with movements / controls or if I'm just really bad at your game hahah Anyway, it was still a lot of fun! Nice work!
