An interesting idea and good gameplay elements, but it's quite aggravating. You hardly have any control in the air and you keep teleporting around
Not very fun but very innovative and works with the theme very well. Also insanely polished, great job! I think this is the best looking entry I've seen so far.
The game is very fun at first, but suffers from a lack of artwork and balancing issues. The game has three levels, but the first one is near impossible to beat. The enemies show up too quickly too fast, to the point where you are just walking in circles. Overall, it is a very unique and entertaining game for a little while but gets old quickly. Still very good.
Really cool game! It was a bit annoying that R restarted the ENTIRE game instead of just the current level though. The controls are good and there's a really well made learning curve.
It was an interesting game, but pretty confusing. As fun as it was, the lack of good graphics and the 'bugs' you listed above causes the game to suffer from a low score. Dragging coal hardly even works. Nice attempt though. None of the bugs listed are bugs, they're features you didn't add.
@pio what system are you using? I'm going to make a mac build soon.
@sausage-squad-games That's not good. Is there an error message? I'm also using win10.
@will-walters You can! Just press R. :)
@miltonnh25 Oh god, that's not good at all. I've fixed it, I accidentally compiled the debug mode.
@capitals Oops! I'll fix that right now.
@brendan-engelman I think I fixed it, a lot of people have been reporting that error but I couldn't find out how to fix it so I reverted to an old file.
@steve-johnson thanks for the feedback! I realized after release that there's a lot more possible variation. For example, more enemies, more hp, different enemies, different guns, melee weapons, etc. I think I'm going to make a post jam build.
Interesting concept and pretty fun once you get into it. A bit too unforgiving, and I think the game would benefit *a lot* from starting with a full power bar.
Very cool, fun game. Very challenging, too. The music and graphics were spot on, but it didn't really fit the theme. You gained power, instead of losing it. Still a great entry!
It's very fast paced and fun which is nice, but it gets way too hard way too fast. It would be ok if maybe there was a powerup you could get but it gets aggravating. The graphics are great but that makes up for the lack of music. Still, this game receives a good score.
A really innovative and great concept, but it suffers from poor execution. Still, great music, great mood and easily one of my favorites of this LD.
Insanely fun and enjoyable, I've found myself coming back to it tons of times throughout the week. The lasers felt a bit out of place though, and some music while playing would've been nice, but the gameplay is spot on.
...why does this have the rulesquest banner?
Funny game, I enjoyed it. The sound effects were quirky. Some music would have been nice. The gameplay was very boring though, unfortunately. Would've been better of course if it quickly got faster and more difficult, and maybe there would be multiple buttons to press at once to make it more chaotic. Maybe you already know this. Very quirky, humorous and moody though, which made it an enjoyable experience despite the slow gameplay. Good job!
well you already have 900 comments saying the same thing, but i might as well just say this game is very innovative, has nice polished graphics, and is short and sweet. I enjoyed it a lot, but just some small things to note:
- The music was decent and fit the mood of the game well, it was just a little sharp and slightly repetitive, so that's one thing to consider. It was still pretty good though, especially compared to most LD games. - I feel like a small indicator he would bounce off the wall would be nice because it was hard for me to wrap my head around when planning how to beat a level - A way to pause the game would have been nice so I didn't have to hold a screen indefinitely
Besides these small points it was a very nice polished puzzle game that I enjoyed thoroughly. Good job!
@team-on Thank you! Yes, it is possible, sorry! I meant to include it in tutorial text but I forgot to, and am going to include it in a game fixing update soon, among other changes. Just press enter when you are in contact with it. Sorry about that!
@bjornkri thanks, yeah i wish I had time to implement a walking animation. I started doing one post-jam but I didn't want to accidentally mislead people into thinking I made it during the Jam. I spent so much time polishing the gameplay and cutscene areas that I didn't have time to finish off the animations or do audio. Thanks for the feedback.
@fupi thank you! Yeah, I always find it kind of difficult to create an accessible control scheme. Pressing enter makes sense, but it's awkward because no other keys used are near it. Pressing Z is comfortable, but doesn't make sense because it's a little too close to some keys. Whatever I pick will naturally become comfortable to me as the sole tester of the game, so it's hard for me to tell what other people will think of it. Thanks for the review though!
Seems very well polished and some interesting concepts. I liked the game a lot as a whole, but for me there are a few problems.
1. I don't enjoy restarting the game every time, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense because HP resets between levels. 2. There should be a timer where you don't take knockback on the saws for a short period of time because I got stuck in a few corners where it just kept hitting me when I'd expect a way to jump out 3. The trajectory of the egg took some getting used to. Not necessarily a complaint as I'm not sure what could be done here, but for how unforgiving the game is, it was frustrating having to guess if the egg could make a throw.
Graphics were pretty good, very polished. Audio was pretty good as well. Game was fun except for the hardcore mode feature, I would much prefer to turn this off personally even though I know some people enjoy it. All in all, great job, the egg mechanic was done very well and it was all super polished.
I like the concept, and it is cute and polished. The gameplay is very difficult and random, putting me in situations where it feels like it's impossible for me to keep going without some luck.
The music was nice, along with the graphics. The controls feel very awkward. I would prefer maybe moving the moon with the D key, or spacebar or the mouse or something, but the A key and the Left arrow are so far apart and it doesn't really make sense why those are the keys to pick. This is a little nitpicky though, but it made getting the hang of the game much harder having to synchronize my hands. It's not a big deal though.
Overall, good polish, nice concept, mediocre execution with a bit of clunky gameplay. Despite this, it was still an enjoyable experience, and you did a great job.
Honestly, there was a bit of lack of polish in presentation, but the gameplay is great. You took an innovative idea and executed it very well, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I feel like lots of games get caught up in presentation and making the game feel and look good, and forgot to make it fun, but you had a good foundation and I enjoyed myself. The game gets faster quickly, but the high bug limit still makes it feel too easy. Despite the slightly unpolished graphics and pretty solid but mildly repetitive music, it was a very good experience and was pretty fun. Good job!
Broke a million! My main problem with the game is the clicking mechanic, its a very good take on clicker games having a timer and all to give it a sense of urgency and I like it a lot. The clicking mechanic should give you more money each click as the game progresses, as the skill ceiling for the game is basically just who can time their upgrades the best. I still think it was one of the better entries I've tried for sure, and thought it was excellent, good work!
hilarious, awesome concept. I laughed out loud when he got in the boat. Very cool funny little game. Love the art style.
@testudor @silas-reinagel
Hey y'all, I reuploaded a new build that should be working. Let me know if it crashes!
@srrinio I appreciate the honest feedback! The art kinda sucks, I did almost all of it in the final 2 hours for the jam lol. And you're right, in retrospect I think it would have been best to maybe only do one level, I def wanted a boss. There are a few types of enemies actually, the slime shoots projectiles and there are flying enemies later on, as well as some demons in the third world that have different running physics. I also didn't have any real time on Friday or Saturday so I was low on time. Nonetheless, the enemy variety does kind of suck and they're all just kind of bad reskins. Thank you for the criticism!
I think it was fantastic, great mood and atmosphere, has a mystery to it. The controls are clunky, I don't know if that was intentional or not but it fit the game perfectly. It's like in old shooter games on the Playstation like resident evil where the clunky controls made it take precision and skill to survive. When I first faced the voice of death and died to him I felt determined to try again due to the mystery of the game. I got to around 1300m. It was an excellent game and you should be proud.
Very good entry. Polished, well designed. There are some clear flaws, e.g. it's annoying having to redo the entire game from the beginning each time you die, but moving level to level and slowly becoming better at the game is rewarding, so I don't have a good suggestion for this problem. Fun game, good art, good music, well done.
Very interesting game. I enjoyed playing as monsters and thought the art direction was nice. I made it to the end on my first try. The gameplay itself isn't fun, but all the surrounding plot/art/atmosphere was good. Well done!
Dude this is the best game I've played in a ludum dare. This was awesome. The heart boss fight felt way too difficult, but I eventually got better and it beat it. That was the only section that I thought was designed sub par, and even then most of it was great. This is an awesome game with a lot of heart. I tried to translate the heart's binary to English bc I figure it probably means something but I wasn't able to in time haha. Really great game, audio is good, the entire atmosphere is fantastic, the main menu is immaculate, I love it dude. The moment where you discover the down smash mechanic at the door to go into the frog's lair is great, I love it because it teaches you without needing a text screen. Great game dude.
What the boss text says in English. Cool little easter egg!

Enjoyed it. The gameplay itself was fun, the upgrade system could use a bit of work. I would enjoy it more if you got upgrades a few floors earlier, and slightly less often. It also felt too easy, I got hit maybe 3 or 4 times by reaching 800m. The mixing of the audio hurt my ears at times (some sounds were too loud/sharp). The gameplay was good though, and this is an all around pretty solid entry, no parts stood out as significantly bad and all parts of the game were decent or good. Well done!
Very good entry. Well polished, set a great tone from the start, creative gameplay. The only thing that threw me off was restarting after dying, as it is very abrupt just going back to the menu and cutting off the music. I would've preferred if it just started your plane from the beginning instead of having to skip through text again and having that abrupt music transition, but that was my only gripe with the game. Good work!
lol very fun game, interesting mechanics. could've used some music of course but its no big deal. The art was great and gave the game a very polished complete look. Well done!
@shaggy sorry my bad, you're supposed to hold down and press jump and you'll fall through those platforms. I'll update the tutorial.
@eli-peters Hey, I found the collision detection bug and since fixed it, the control scheme also seemed to be a common problem so I switched that up as well. I appreciate the feedback
@abk507 I'll look into the restart button bug. Could you go into details on what design choices were weird?
@abk507 thank you! I'm doing a post jam build so I greatly appreciate the feedback.
@jk5000 hey can you specify at what point specifically did you get stuck? was it on the first level? there's a section you're supposed to dash from an antenna onto a rooftop and I don't think I made it clear
@jk5000 nah ur good, multiple people have had that problem. you're supposed to dash across but it's the first time you have to use the dash mechanic in the game so I should have come up with a way to intuitively teach the player that. thank you for the feedback though!
@doomshmuck its not so clear how to progress in the jam build. you're supposed to go upstairs on the far right and walk to the antenna, and then you're able to dash across to the left. sorry about that!
Very creative lol, liked the dialogue a lot and it was very intriguing. Good execution on being experimental, some games feel outside the box just for the sake of being different but this felt like it compromised at nothing to get a few specific mechanics/ideas off. Honestly fantastic
Extremely polished, fantastic art and music. The gameplay was also very polished, but the actual core of the gameplay I didn't find satisfying or very fun. Didn't feel like there was enough positive feedback when finishing a potion. The mechanics were introduced well to the player with giving them lots of time to figure out the first pot and then having the next earthquake right after, allowing them to take some time to understand what's going on. Funnily enough, I say everything in this game is fantastic other than the core gameplay loop itself, which was a little subpar. Other than that, great job!
Extremely fire game. The dialogue before the missile part where it just said "The US + Russia" was my favorite part hilarious lmfao. Very creative, I kept dying in the missile part and don't have the patience to almost get to the end and then lose for a third time so I'm done for now lol but it has been one of my favorite entries and one of the most memorable. I'm surprised it has so few reviews tbh just great all around
most creative game I've seen in a good while. fantastic.
replayable with the speedrunning element and I'd say the mechanics are almost completely nailed down, if you tweak them a bit more I'd say you'd have a great base of mechanics for a full game. lots of levels with creative solutions, level 7 specifically was fantastic. I expected it to be a typical "shoot and have the bullet bounce off the wall" so when I realized the real solution it was a great moment. One of my favorite entries so far.
no idea what the goal of the game is but i enjoyed it a lot lmfao. great feedback on shooting people and the mechanics made it fun to just fly around, good interpretation of theme and very creative, I enjoyed the windows crash sound on starting the level, added a lot to the mood. good graphics and audio, even though you opted out of them picking the audio to match with your game is still a skill so good job on that. maybe make it more straightforward next time but well done!
also nice seeing another godot user haha
Very unique game. The style and the bizarreness of it made it feel kind of like an acid trip lmfao. Nonetheless I beat it, had some very interesting puzzle ideas like needing to wait for you to shrink to fit in places. Pretty fun, very solid entry
Tight controls, one of the most mechanically polished games I've seen. Some good level design, some levels felt too tedious to be fun though. Interesting use of the platform mechanics like on level 8, the soundtrack was good and helped with the atmosphere of the game a lot. The graphics individually are great, but altogether the color scheme is a bit messy. Overall great entry, good idea to include a level timer as well.
Games a whole vibe, fits the theme well. Music was good, the second I started the game I just kinda felt put at ease. It's a cool concept, the gameplay is what suffers the most out of it all but the simplicity of it just added to the vibe tbh. I thought the snooze button was a very thematic addition as well. Good game!
Polished game, I enjoyed it. Art and music were good, the idea of moving around the towers is interesting and I haven't seen it before. Managing the placement of the towers felt more like I was quickly moving them between groups of enemies than a strategic decision, and it also felt like a little too much going on at times. I think the idea of being able to move towers but only between waves, and perhaps changing terrain so you have to strategically decide where to place them, would be very intriguing.
Also, when the game adds and removes layers of sound (most notably the clap) it starts the track off beat. I'm sure this was unintentional though so I won't hold it against you, and if you fixed it back to being on beat it would be fantastic.
Interesting game. The units would rapid fire jump up walls so I was a lil confused how to keep them in. It doesn't feel like there's much stakes or pressure at the beginning of the game and some music would've helped. I think seeing the air bubbles kinda rise to the surface was a cool addition.
@dkmk100 I fixed PizzaBell if you want to try again lol. Appreciate the feedback!!
@nexade Thanks for the feedback! I finally fixed the mythical h button if u want to try it again lol
Good game, the map is massive and I felt kinda directionless at times so there are some mild design flaws. As someone who made games exclusively with SFML for a long ass time I am extremely impressed with what u were able to do lol. It feels polished and the mood is good. Ignoring the design flaws, it was a pretty good game. I'd just recommend some music, I think it would add a lot to it. Good entry!
Good game! Felt very polished, from the art to the music to the UI's. The gameplay loop wasn't too exciting, though. Besides the spotty game design, everything on the front end was top notch. Good entry!
Cool game. Liked the laser section. Only the Z button starting the game is super weird but I won't hold it against you cause thats supernitpicky. The movement of pieces should've been tweened slightly or something, the way they all just jump forward at the same time makes it hard to track whats going on and kinda makes my head hurt a little bit. All in all solid entry
Felt very polished and I liked the music, although I wished there were more songs. I liked the design of being able to heal/hurt both demons and civilians, it's very elegant game design. The movement could've been better, it felt slow. The game should progress to the next round when you've killed every enemy/healed every civilian because you kinda just wait for the clock to run down at the end. Well done!
Nice game! The gameplay mechanics/overall concept was funny but could've been deeper, I would've liked to see it tie into the theme more. I thought the dialogue voiceover was funny. The graphics and audio could've been a bit better, but they fit the vibe of the game well. Well done!
Cool game! I loved the comic-like intro. The music was good as well. It felt cohesive. I didn't like the space bar spamming mini-game, it would be alright to just have that be a small part of it but I had to do a lot of smashing and it's not the most engaging thing lol. Also a small bug: when I tried to lock pick and the journal popped up to show me how to and I pressed space and the lock broke, and then after some things I was unable to interact with by pressing space. Overall nice entry!
I enjoyed it. It felt like the art and game mechanics complimented each other. I would've liked there to be a slightly larger area on the pills you could drag and maybe an indicator for that area, as it was very difficult quickly timing them. Also perhaps make the first level easier, as it gets off to a very difficult start. Overall, well done!
@crow-seeds this comment goes hard 🔥🔥🔥
I liked it. It's a fun game. Once I started chaining some combos together it really started to get fun, the game feel is great and the combo multiplier text popups add a lot of energy. Overall I think it's a very solid entry. I wish the distance you had to drag your mouse to get a high speed shot was lower since the controls feel a little awkward. The game would also benefit greatly from a better tutorial section that isn't just text. Some parts of the game were a little awkward but ultimately the gameplay itself is what really matters, and I think you did a super solid job there. Well done!
@senso I'm not definite, it was the default mode that comes up where the camera doesn't follow the cube. When I say some parts are awkward I really just mean the controls which could be a little tighter, tutorial menu, and transition from losing the game to the leaderboard page. It's mostly side things like UI and I'm willing to overlook for a game jam, its not too much of an issue tbh. Controls also aren't bad by any means, they could just be a little bit better.
well I'm glad someone decided to make a point out of the flaws in the rating system... its easy for any ludum dare veteran to see that the rating system is extremely flawed and likely a decent amount of this manipulation happens, albeit more subtle than this.
Extremely charming! Really loved this game, well done. The art, music, and mechanics are all cute and go hand in hand with one another. This is a great example of a game being good for reasons beyond gameplay alone. The mechanics are relatively basic but have the perfect amount of depth to them for the type of game this is. All in all, I give this game two thumbs up. Maybe my favorite entry so far. P.S. the music is seriously great! so jazzy
Good game. These are the games I don't play much normally but love during Ludum Dare. Super easy to get lost in them and play for a long time, which always leaves me impressed at how long I can spend playing a game made in a weekend! Anyways I wish there had been a little more clarity on what exactly is going on or what I'm working towards. I was playing and just didn't feel super invested, I guess? There's just a lot going on and I'm quite unsure how to keep progressing. Got a card that did damage to me, I didn't even realize I had a health bar. It's still a super solid game though, very polished, clean interface. Well done!!
I've seen a lot of people say they really like this game, so I guess I'm in the minority. There weren't any RPG elements, and there aren't really any rhythm elements either. The lava blocks move on a timer, but nearly every puzzle platformer games have things that move based on a timer, and they don't qualify as rhythm games. The lava blocks are such a huge pain to deal with and keep track of I would have liked it more if they were just removed completely. I liked the idea of moving two characters at once, and the audio was good. It's just not fun to control two characters while also trying not to touch lava. It was also a pain whenever I accidentally moved to the previous level and had to start all over again on a level I'd already completed. I dislike the palette, but the graphics are still pretty good. I'd say it was a good idea, but then you realized it didn't fit the theme and you had to add "rhythm" to it. You did a great job on art and a greater job on audio, I just didn't like the gameplay.
I really like the idea, but the racing aspect falls a bit flat. It's not a racing game, the cars just loop around a track. I feel like it would have been a lot better if instead of having health, you need to finish each level before the race is over. Once everyone else is gone, you automatically win because you're the last one left. Great idea though, I really liked it.
@Ben Pearson Hey! I noticed while watching the video that there's a bug that happens when playing in fullscreen. I feel pretty disappointed as its a pretty simple bug, which causes the mouse coordinates to map based on if it was windowed, which is why your aim was very off. I've fixed it since, usually it is much less difficult. I've also switched it to a zip, I didn't realize there was a difference between RARs and ZIPs.
@TomLee I changed it to a Zip instead of a Rar, it should work. Could you test it out?
@ketura see the comment below yours. There was a bug that I fixed, the ship is supposed to follow it. Sorry for the problem.
@haharo I've fixed this issue I think, not definite though. I was having it occasionally too, but it is very unpredictable.
@Danny88881 That's a good idea, you might not have noticed but the player is brighter than the enemies. I guess that wasn't enough, I had the idea to make the player a different color but it was during the final stretch of cramming everything in at 8 PM on Monday. Thanks for the suggestion though!
@Julink the fact that you came back later to finish it says a lot, thanks so much!
Had a cool idea, but felt really awkward playing and there wasn't much variation throughout. There was a good idea and it was innovative, but not much fun. I really liked the idea though, just doesn't seem plausible. Just thought you should know too that you ran into a bug when you were playing my game which I have fixed since then. Really nice idea though.
I love this idea! Sort of difficult to get the hang of, but really interesting and enjoyable once you realize you can hit in certain directions. Solid entry.
