Graphics and mood are on point! Difficulty felt right. What does the tree do? Congrats, great entry!

paullyaudet 2022-04-05 13:01

Nice twist for a TD to only play by moving your towers !

Good concept and execution. With more diversity through gameplay I'm sure the game could by easy ship ! I'm also sure the game would work if you do an android/IOS version !

Nice work !

matrixcoder 2022-04-05 13:01

fun game .. killing jellies :)

yamzho 2022-04-05 13:02

I liked the tower defense feeling with the ability to move the towers ! :) Great execution on the art and music. Well done !

borgi 2022-04-05 13:04

Nice charater designa and its just such a fun theme! I really like the graphics style of the game and the music is also chill and fiths the colorful theme of the graphics. I think this is a really cool twist/idea for a TD alternative, where you can't build new towers but you have to reposition them strategically, I would think a bigger game could be based on this idea. The upgrades could be cheaper and more visibly powerful :-D There could be more variety in the waves - but I guess you know all of this just you had a time limit as we all did :-) But its a really impressive result for this jam! ps: the sound in the title screen might be a bit too intense for me :D ps2: I also had to read the description to figure out what the tree does

sammot 2022-04-05 13:05

Addictive, but what does the tree do

timetravelhamster 2022-04-05 13:07

For me difficulty was ramping slow, Great mood and visuals. I think more upgrades on the bullets will make it better to play since you don't do much make it more interesting for watch, bigger bullets more explosion lasers etc.

tatawanda 2022-04-05 13:09

Hi! Ok, it is nicely executed with a good little music and nice cartoonish graphic. Just a point on the rythm, you pause between wave for the player to buy upgrade for their tour. However, we only have 3 choices and no real decision making here. You could let the possibility to upgrade at all time and never stop the game. I think it would greatly help for the pace and increase the feeling of delaying the inevitable. Another point, we are lacking a feedback on the tower for the upgrade. Even if I know it's may be difficult ot do it in a game jam.

Bug : The end wave bar goes to the middle of the screen for some reason.

Overall, nice entry :)

gustavo 2022-04-05 13:17

This game is awesome! Congrats to you folks!

I really enjoyed the moving-towers mechanic. The game is really fun at the stage it is atm. The art is very cute and the audio helps give a nice feedback for the towers attacks.

I missed the explanation of what the golden jelly does, though

tigerj 2022-04-05 13:21

Audio, Graphics, and mood are great! I love a good tower defense, after round 9 I just stopped getting any economic gains although the waves kept increasing. I made it to 11 but did not gain anything after round 9 to upgrade further.

gummibot 2022-04-05 21:51

Impressed by the idea to move the towers instead building new ones, good job!

UI on the web build did not scale well though, couldn't see the whole thing.

Really liked visual style of this the music, good job :)

ghatazorg 2022-04-06 18:08

everything is so cool, it's an original tower defense, good graphics and very addictive, nice game !

albertoz 2022-04-06 21:18

Nice graphics & sound.

bios3008 2022-04-06 21:25

oh great work that looks awesome :-)

guy-girmonsky 2022-04-06 21:28

I liked the idea of moving the towers. I don't think I were encountered this design choice in towers defence games. I couldn't understand what the tree does aswell, but on the other hand the game sounds good and super pleasant on the eyes. well done

pwnofprophecy 2022-04-06 21:30

Tower Defense and this jam go hand in hand and this is far and away the most creative one I've seen here so far. Love the idea of moving my towers around to deal with variable threats, the animations and background look great and the visual design was delightful. Way to go!

marumari 2022-04-06 21:32

Cool graphics but the game needs a fast mode :D

notapollogising 2022-04-06 21:33

Polished game, I enjoyed it. Art and music were good, the idea of moving around the towers is interesting and I haven't seen it before. Managing the placement of the towers felt more like I was quickly moving them between groups of enemies than a strategic decision, and it also felt like a little too much going on at times. I think the idea of being able to move towers but only between waves, and perhaps changing terrain so you have to strategically decide where to place them, would be very intriguing.

Also, when the game adds and removes layers of sound (most notably the clap) it starts the track off beat. I'm sure this was unintentional though so I won't hold it against you, and if you fixed it back to being on beat it would be fantastic.

toothwitch 2022-04-06 21:34

I enjoyed the game. It has nice music and graphics. And as nearly everyone here says: Add a little bit more diversity (new tower, other tower upgrades, etc.) and it could easily go as full mobile game :)

dodormeur 2022-04-06 21:35

Really cool game ! The twist on the tower defense genra is really nice, making actually active in the defense of your base ! The graphics are really cute, and the music is really nice ! The only downside is that there is a strategy that is a bit too strong, maxing the slow turret and the zone turret, putting them in the middle, and just watching all the ennemy coming to kill themselves, while being too slow to pose a threat ^^ Apart from this small thing (that can easily be balanced out), the game is really really good !

nafos-games 2022-04-06 21:37

I don't usually like tower defence games but this one had me rooting for the guy in the middle. One criticism, there is a clap sound that clashed with the music, a sound effect that sounds less like percussion might have been better. But that is all I can find fault with, one sound. You did an amazing job and I hope you develop it further.

flying-dog-fish 2022-04-06 21:42

Pretty tower defense with a catchy tune. I wish I could buy more towers.

physcokillermonkey 2022-04-06 21:44

Cool twist on the typical tower defence style game. Graphics look great and gameplay feels fluid, really satisfying effects when moving the towers around and plopping them down.

I would say to display more of an end screen when the player becomes overrun. In an endless game like this I think it's important to see how far you got through the game as a kind-of score (think it was around round 14 for me).

denhette 2022-04-06 21:45

Great gamedesign on display here! Simple set of mechanics making an enjoyable, tense and well balanced game. Got to level 13 but got absolutely overwhelmed by that point  Guess it was *inevitable*.

linnet5 2022-04-06 21:45

The music and sound was nice, but I had an issue with the layered drums being very off-beat whenever they kicked in which made it difficult to listen to. The overall gameplay loop was a little bit too easy for my tastes and the upgrades barely felt like they did something, at least for the short bit I played. That said I loved the visuals and the theme worked really well with this type of game!

albionbrown 2022-04-06 21:49

Awesome game! Really fond of this one, will come back to it. The graphics were fun, loved the tower defense style where it will overrun you.

burntcustard 2022-04-06 22:08

Nice graphics, great music and sounds. It's not initially obvious what the slowing-down tower does - perhaps because 0.9x speed (I think that's what it starts at) isn't particularly noticeable. Moving the towers around was a nice twist, but a little fiddly. And once you go wrong, at later levels at least, the character in the middle loses health and you lose _really_ quickly. I almost got to level 14!

angiemon 2022-04-08 15:34

Awesome game! I love tower defense games and this one really fascinated me, because you don't buy the single towers, place them and thats it, but you rather have 3 different ones which you try to strategically place around all the time and during rounds you buy upgrades.

Really liked that! :) Artstyle was cute and pretty (also loved the cellshading, the details in the background were amazing) and the music was funny.

After level 11 or so I got no more money :( and at a certain point had to basically camp the ice tree and laser at the royal court.

before that my strategy was, the tower defends the palace grounds and the laser goes into battle while the tree serves as a barrier whereever needed :D

a fun, well balanced little game with self explanatory controls! Good job guys!!

100th-coin 2022-04-09 17:43

So, the ultimate strategy is to just stack all of the towers on top of the queen. I made it to round 8 without taking any damage, and got a bit bored. There definitely needs to be a way to prevent you from stacking towers on the queen, or else the gameplay consists exclusively of watching and waiting. Perhaps having a radius of "no towers here" around the queen. I think that will force the player to keep moving the towers, which is a really creative idea that I've never seen before, but by allowing them to move the towers on the queen, there's no need to move them at all. ever.

The music is fun, and the artwork is fantastic. Nice work!

bjornstahl 2022-04-10 09:03

Aestethically a very nice gime both visual and audio. Easy to understand and play with a reasonable increase in difficulty. It could be cool with more types of towers that you switch out during upgrade phase so that you always have three but of different types depending on need.

brotherst 2022-04-10 09:48

Really nice and well polished game!! I loved the animation, the shaders, the art style in general.

The only issue I had was that it was incredibly easy for a bunch of rounds, and then suddenly became absolutely impossible. Like it went from consistently spawning two groups of enemies at a time, for like 6 groups in total per round, to constantly spawning groups without end. I think I defeated like 30 groups in a row without the wave ending? And was eventually overwhelmed. Maybe this was a bug?

Anyway, ignoring the balancing this is an otherwise amazing entry. Well done guys :)

animalx 2022-04-10 10:06

The game looks and sounds amazing. At first I didn't realize the towers could be moved during the round, which was fine until the later rounds. Luckily I figured that one out and made it to round 13 I'm not sure though as there was no score screen at the end. Cool game, and the addition of the money pots to defend was really cool and brought in a secondary challenge. Well done!

bassilij 2022-04-11 11:00

An amazing, full-fledged game!) Excellent graphics and gameplay!

yamaisiukdranko 2022-04-11 14:07

Amazing gameplay. You very nice set up enemies

sephowepho 2022-04-11 22:54

Amazing game, *really* loved the graphics! I got to about round 14 before perishing, and I enjoyed getting there! :D

honey-pony 2022-04-12 03:35

I thought the gameplay curve here was extremely good and I disagree with 100th_Coin that allowing the towers to be placed on the center is a bad thing. On the contrary, I think this game incentives moving the towers all over the place very well--it is absolutely necessary in the early rounds to harvest as many gems as possible, and so the early rounds are all about defending as many gem spots on the map as possible.

Then, in the mid game, it is still technically possible to harvest gems but the enemies are pressing you much harder. Here, you have to essentially try to harvest some gems at the beginning of the round, and then retreat so that all your towers cover the queen.

And then, in the late game, there is no real hope of harvesting more gems, so you get to see how well your previous efforts paid off. This is the point in the game where the "inevitable" part starts to kick in, and it is just a matter of time until you lose. I think this is an especially cool narrative arc because at this point in the game, you will probably buy your last upgrade ever. And that's just kind of cool. The fact that you'll probably never afford another upgrade again is not part of the narrative arc of any usual tower defense game, but it is here.

I made it to round 15, and I might have made it slightly farther if I hadn't lost a bunch of health in one of the early rounds. Either way, it was a super fun arc, and I think every part of the gameplay works really well.

So I think the fact that the towers can all be placed overlapping, but that that strategy is a terrible strategy for a huge part of the game, actually works really well. There are no explicit constraints on what the player can do, only constraints in terms of what kinds of strategies will lose--and the strategies needed to win are constantly changing.

It is especially cool how the towers sort of change roles--at the beginning, the laser tower seems like it is slower at killing enemies, but by the end of the game, it is all-important. In fact, I have to wonder if I would have gotten farther had I only upgraded the laser tower and the ice tower.

Overall though, this is a great entry. Besides the gameplay which I have documented my appreciation of above, the graphics and audio are polished and straightforwardly good. In total this is hands down the best entry I've played so far.

Edit: reading through some of these comments, it seems some other players didn't figure out that you need to protect the gem-things in order to get more gems... I suppose more explicit explanation of the mechanics would probably be an improvement. However, I think my playthrough is evidence that, if the player does know what all the mechanics are, the gameplay loop is very compelling.

apandso 2022-04-14 11:32

Nice looking, pretty fun. Wish there was a tutorial, I did figure out you can drag stuff but not right away. Also it's not obvious right away what each tower does, but you can understand it by watching them, so I guess it's ok. Stopped at 10 rounds, it was pretty easy and got a bit repetitive. But overal it was a pleasant game. Good job!

papaver 2022-04-20 21:48

First, awesome music and cute graphics and animations! Original twist on a tower defense by letting the player move the towers.

I didn't get what the orange thing was at first, but I figured out that the minions go there and produce coins. A little animation/tween of coins going towards the coin total would have been nice here. I found it a bit weird that you have to wait for it to finish, when you already finished the round.

The game got more interesting around Round 8, when enemies were coming from 3 (and later 4) directions. I died in level 11.
