LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Lucido by AnimalX 2021-04-28T20:33:29Z

@iaandrei Thanks! I know the puzzle is not too clear, I'll try to time manage better next time! Wanted to get too much done and didn't realize how short 48 hours actually is! Thanks for giving the game a go though!

@killua Tasty burger, huh? The hole in the rock is the first part of the puzzle! I've added a small clue section if you want to give it a go with that! Clarity for sure needs a lot of improvement. Thanks for checking it out :) I might just continue working on the game after the jam and see if I can make the puzzle better and clearer.

@jogy34 Woah, you finished the puzzle? That's awesome, well done. Wasn't expecting anyone to get to the end to be honest haha. Thanks for the feedback, I had planned to have a simple combat system where you would have to slay dream monsters to get money but I had to scratch that (one of many features I wanted to add) pretty early on. Not sure about the mouse capture issue, I'm using those nodes when switching between UI and the game. I would try to fix it but I don't have a setup like that

Lucido by AnimalX 2021-04-28T20:45:48Z

@jj2oo2 Thanks! That's some follow through you have there, well done! Thanks for the feedback, a tutorial would for sure have been nice and I'll try to either add that for my next jam or spend more time on making the mechanics clearer. Sad to hear you lost the key, the physics in unreal can be a bit buggy sometimes, but you were pretty much done with the game, I'll count it as a victory ;)

LD49 — Unstable

Catastrophic Journey by Abregado 2021-10-07T21:20:09Z

Cool game! I agree with previous feedback on the movement but mostly some indication on when you're taking damage. The first time I got reset I hadn't realized yet I did something wrong or used 15 turns.

Coffin Run by epicureanistik 2021-10-10T17:24:30Z

2/3 jumps I made killed me, but made it to the end! I thought this would have been more infuriating but somehow I couldn't stop even after dying 10 jumps in a row. Had a good time, but wouldn't play again

LIFT-UP MACHINE (nightly version) by Avzgui 2021-10-10T14:19:39Z

Actually started out quite tricky, but once the first section is over it's just so much fun seeing the random drops and events come in. Really enjoyed playing this one, good job!

Orbital Rescue by amkingTRP 2021-10-07T17:58:01Z

I had an issue with the game opening in a tiny screen but could make it fullscreen with Alt+Enter. Loved the atmosphere and concept. Really cool game, definitely for not having 3 days!

Polygonal Animal Stacking by Flying Dog Fish 2021-10-10T11:47:06Z

Love the hand drawn art in this one! Tricky game but fun. I do think the animals you're dropped should not collide with the ones already dropped, I had this happen after dropping a large elephant which messed up the tower :(.

HOTFIX by Lucas Kauff 2021-10-10T18:28:16Z

Think I'll have to play this one again when I'm not tired  I've seen a lot of comments this jam about bugs being part of the theme, so seeing this game made me lol. Very good job, loved it!

UnStable Reactor by honzapat 2021-10-07T18:15:47Z

The error sound made me laugh the first time I heard it  Unfortunately I had the same crash as @zachsbutt (at the same time). Before it crashed I was having a good time trying to find the broken equipment, good job!

Unstable Volcano by Itskdog 2021-10-06T17:37:17Z

Took a little while to get used to the mechanics, but after I got the hang of it it was quite fun! I love the sfx, it reminded me of playing Warcraft2 and having 100s of villagers cut wood at the same time. I would have liked to see villagers return to their job after eating, not doing that makes it more challenging. Overall enjoyed the experience!

Malmhund by Martin183 2021-10-07T21:33:14Z

Super addictive, I found myself invested in trying to beat the levels! I feel like this could be a great mobile game with some polish  Lovely jam entry, well done.

Rolling Home by memoryFloater 2021-10-11T21:20:01Z

Enjoyed playing this a lot! Always like a good gathering/crafting type game, so good job. Maybe the lava shouldn't be affected too much by tilting the world backwards, you can just have the sleems do a job and keep the world tilted backwards to avoid the lava coming in. I'd have loved it if it was a bit more hectic! Overall great game

Frosty Wobble by Ghuyajil 2021-10-10T11:39:28Z

Really like this entry! The movement did look choppy and my jump input was sometimes ignored (I think it happened on not completely flat surfaces the most) but other than that I had fun. Well done

Contrary by Nekopi 2021-10-07T21:12:26Z

Overall I really enjoyed the game, I did get stuck trying to jump over the first large tree stump - but that was just me being bad. Once I got to the loneliness part I fell into a hole and never respawned though

Home coming by Hoeleboele 2021-10-07T17:32:52Z

I had to screenshot the what colors where what building and put in on my second screen, would have been great to have the text along side the colors. Once I got the hang of it I had fun, by the end it got very hectic to get my bots fighting off all enemies but I managed to get home! Nicely done, loved the game.

You can't leave by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-10-10T17:03:18Z

Awesome minimalist art and I just giggled at the sound effects. Enjoyed this one a lot, nice!

Aetherocks by AnimalX 2021-10-05T13:29:15Z

@daniel-giorlando Thanks for playing the game! I put quite some time in the SFX, glad you liked them. We tried to make the mining feel realistic so you really need to aim the head of the pickaxe on the rock indeed.

@achef122 Thanks for the feedback! You can also mine the fallen stalagmites to clear the way, it just takes some time, so you need to decide if it's worth it! Unfortunately we ran out of time to create a music theme :(

@fegabe Thanks for playing! The goal is to extract as many crystals as possible, as it is a survival game I didn't want to put a goal to how many you need to collect, just as many as possible before the cave collapses!

@gabrielgamedev thanks for the feedback! Did you deposit ore into the elevator after mining it? This should make the score go up, but I'll double check right now. Glad you liked the game

Aetherocks by AnimalX 2021-10-07T21:02:30Z

@abregado Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it :)

@cozygamepals Nice! Pro-tip, the lower the stability bar the more the crystals you hand in are worth! We're more experienced in 3D than 2D, it would take us way longer to do a 2D jam than a 3D one

Aetherocks by AnimalX 2021-10-08T08:55:19Z

@truewolves Wow, that's a great score! I wanted to mix some glass falling under the Oww sound effect when getting hit to indicate the crystals falling but ran out of time unfortunately :( Feedback is definitely something we need to work on in the next jam! Thanks fore playing

@iori-branford Thanks, glad you enjoyed the game! I agree with the collision, but it also gives a bit of a challenge!

Myco by treatyofparis 2021-10-10T17:53:43Z

Wow, this one has a lot going on and I'm sure you can do some cool stuff combining all mechanics! I got 3 levels deep but then got insta killed by some scary thing. It would be cool if the enemies reacted to what you do in your turn instead of locking in their move before you do anything, but other than that great job!

Wobble by BGDC 2021-10-05T13:44:34Z

One of the most polished jam games I've seen, well done! Had a lot of fun playing the game and it looks amazing!

Pillars of Faith by bunnybones 2021-10-07T09:46:51Z

After figuring out the controls I had fun with this one! It's quite challenging but it like that. Well done!

Radish Kid Ascension by CozyGamePals 2021-10-07T17:40:13Z

Made it all the way to the top on the first try! Lovely little game, really enjoyed it. Well done!

Moonpond by balduin 2021-10-10T11:16:37Z

I enjoyed the boing sound a bit too much  When going down the bouncy mushrooms, I missed some sort of anchor points to line myself up as you do fall quite fast. It would have been cool to have the starry background not follow the player, but just tile so I could use the stars to line myself up. Loved the simple controls, yet challenging gameplay as I progressed. Well done!

Unstable by ks.zealot 2021-10-10T18:07:01Z

I like the idea behind the game a lot, having a world that materializes in front of you as you run is pretty cool. I would have rather seen a cube jumping around than the unreal mannequin though. When the world generates, the transition feels like a frame drop (but there isn't one as I checked given you uploaded a dev build  ) Maybe next time try starting from an empty project and see how much you can do without any starter content, you might be surprised! It's all about the experience and learning in the end! Nice try though, really liked the idea for this one.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Life's the Wurst by jimmothysanchez 2022-04-10T14:34:21Z

This one gave me instant sausage party vibes. Game looks great and both sound effects and animations are super funny. You could improve on the AI of where the utensils get thrown as I was able to just stand on high spots for quite a while before having to move. Awesome entry non the less!

ps: You can remove the .pdb file in Engine\Binaries\Win64 to reduce download sizes significantly :)

PLOUF! by mlho7 2022-04-07T10:03:00Z

This one had me chuckling from the first line of text! Super simple game, but hits the theme right on and love the art style, well done :)

Borrowed Time by csLupius 2022-04-09T10:11:14Z

Beautiful game that fits the theme really well. I did look like cooking didn't increase my hunger meter, but that ended up not mattering as I died of hypothermia* after 6 minutes anyway! Nice art, sound sets the mood really well. Overall, great entry!

Tree Protector by dusho 2022-04-10T14:38:27Z

Agree with most of the above, fun game but the aiming was hard. I ended up with one guys on the tree that seemed impossible to hit so I ended up failing because of it. Not being able to hit him at all is probably me being bad at games though :D Overall, I liked this one :)

Coffee Run by jelch 2022-04-07T14:14:29Z

Awesome art style, love how it isn't just game over when you run out of coffee but you need to survive your nightmares! Good build up of intensity in the dreams, and failing is definitely inevitable, awesome job!

Jelly Defense by LDP 2022-04-10T10:06:57Z

The game looks and sounds amazing. At first I didn't realize the towers could be moved during the round, which was fine until the later rounds. Luckily I figured that one out and made it to round 13 I'm not sure though as there was no score screen at the end. Cool game, and the addition of the money pots to defend was really cool and brought in a secondary challenge. Well done!

They are coming! by unfinished 2022-04-09T10:45:47Z

This one is definitely one of the hardest entries I've played so far, but I enjoyed the game. Simple, but enjoyable. I do agree it gets really difficult real quick. Maybe introducing the different types of aliens one at a time so you can get used to their movement patterns would be good, as it's hard to predict how different aliens will move before they reach the earth!

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-09T21:42:06Z

Purrfect sound, great visuals and awesome movement mechanic. Nice and polished, loved it. I see you balanced the game after the jam, once I reached the top and got the hang of flying around (didn't use the platforms anymore once I figured out that was possible) I just floated around for a bit waiting for the next thing to break. Remind me to never buy a spaceship off craiglist, not even with 50 pawcent off. Awesome entry, and loved the cat puns :D

GO:TO Sleep ! by Hozoku 2022-04-09T20:56:22Z

Those pesky computers keep crashing huh? Great visual style and love the sound and music, hopefully your programmer will be back up and running for next time!

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-08T08:46:54Z

Always love games that use a custom solution for the engine. I like how I was peacefully walking around the forest picking flowers when all of a sudden I got shot by a massive monster :D Looks and feels great, impressive with a custom engine.

I'm on a boat - Anxiety Simulator by Sopata 2022-04-08T09:53:17Z

Awesome jam entry, playing this with two people each controlling one character could be quite fun too! Good effort, really enjoyed this one :)

Last Life by Bloodbane 2022-04-07T14:05:09Z

Cool game, enjoyed it! Did have a crash on startup with my steering wheel plugged in, but luckily the logs were clear :) I liked the mechanics, but felt like walking was a bit slow and the civilians would run away from my healing which seems odd. Overall, great entry. Well done :)

Chasin' Dreams by AnimalX 2022-04-04T22:09:59Z

@aligator Oh no, I knew I should have tested but was too lazy. I've updated the download on itch, removed one too many files when trying to reduce the download size!

Chasin' Dreams by AnimalX 2022-04-07T12:12:17Z

@terylangosh @oliver-richmeier Thanks for giving the game a try, glad you liked it!

@fatiguedfox Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I agree with the reset being jarring. Unfortunately I had issues with the animations so lacked time for polish :(

Chasin' Dreams by AnimalX 2022-04-08T13:47:10Z

@pcmaster Thanks, Woof!

@arihan10 It's the same magical force that is spawning the treats in the garden ;) Glad you enjoyed it!

Chasin' Dreams by AnimalX 2022-04-09T20:12:58Z

@commanderstitch That would be an awesome mechanic to add to the game! Thanks for trying the game, Woof!

@ehon Furiously writes down to add dog friendly controls to future doggo themed games :D Thanks for the feedback, that's really helpful :)

@meta-link What's the highest you ended up scoring? Glad you enjoyed the game!

Desert Oasis by Janku 2022-04-09T10:41:32Z

I too want to spend my day roaming around, looking at interesting rocks and eating fruit now. Loved the atmosphere. A bit confusing at the start, but once I got the hang of it it was quite fun! Hits the theme right on too, well done!

Carrot Grove by Ehon 2022-04-09T10:34:26Z

I was already impressed by the huge settings menu for a jam game, and then I started the game! So much content and a great story. The music did start to get quite repetitive as I progressed through the game, but that's a minor thing. I'm not usually a fan of visual novel games, but this one I liked! Excellent work :)

The Clockwork Imperium by subcreation 2022-04-08T09:18:15Z

The synchronization of movement and sound are great! I think the game needs a bit of balancing as I wasn't able to fail. I could just spam click all the towers to create a massive army and kill all the archers (except for one on a ledge I couldn't get to). Cool vibe and unique concept, well done :)

Five Knights in France by Pixelydian 2022-04-08T10:14:07Z

One of the few entries I'd consider humorous! Loved the setting and the premise of the game, character controls felt great. Was a bit hesitant to install a jam game with elevated privileges though, but glad I did!

Corrupted Caverns by Kaya Games 2022-04-09T20:25:01Z

Cool crafting game! Took me a bit to figure out the controls but ended up working it out, mainly placing objects didn't click initially. Nice tutorial at the start though, would be cool to stop the timers ticking down while the tutorial screens are up but not allow the player to progress yet. Loved the music and atmosphere you created too! Great entry :)

Forest by StudioCherno 2022-04-07T09:58:11Z

That was a cool game! I had your guy's streams on in the background throughout most of the jam so knew a bit about how to start, think it would have taken a bit longer had I not known the initial quest. Super impressed by how far Hazel has come, and the game worked perfectly for me! It was just a bit dark during the first quest and I lost the initial ammo once I entered the graveyard. Otherwise, loved to mood and sound in the game, great entry :)

The Adventure of a Lifetime by JamPaktGames 2022-04-09T20:42:12Z

Amazingly strong story, music was engaging and loved the art style. Was a roller coaster of sad and happy moments, loved it. Thanks for this experience :)
