This game is perfectly done artstyle-wise. The topic is hard to say the least. You did a great job!

adangtran 2022-04-04 22:50

It definitely had a cohesive theme and mood especially with the art direction.

garazbolg2 2022-04-04 22:57

Oh my God ! This is so cute, and so refreshing ! What can I say ?

The art is on point, it goes perfectly with the mood of the game. It's flavourful and dynamic. And I want more of it. The menu screen, the fox, the dino jumping anticipation. Hmmmmouah. Also the text is a really nice touch.

The music changes and goes along with the story. It really helps selling the story beats.

The cardiogram really got me. I was smiling and tearing up.

It's basically 3 games, but with simple mechanics, all there to support a story and a mood.

I'm keeping this one in my bag for bad days. Thank you for making this <3

Wow, just wow. Not completely fan of the seemingly varying art styles. Also, I understand the trees and such are colored so it imitates a children's drawing, but I would probably have liked it even more if it was just the pencil drawings like used in many parts of the game. The first level was a bit confusing and hard in my opinion, the second was a bit weird to me as well (blue box how?), but the last level (in combination with the story line) was POWERFUL. The track with the different speeds, the coming hospital elements in sync with the game was really strong. Overall I liked it, but I think you wouldn't need to make the game that hard or confusing, the storyline and how you interacted with it especially in the last level was just PERFECT in a way. Big props to you! Amazing!

:'( wow, great work, I honestly want to give it 5 stars across the board, but it feels wrong to give it 5 stars for "Fun" :(

Overall an OK experience. Like the creative kid-like art style, and the tutorials being drawn in seamlessly was a great touch. (One note I did notice the one sticky note had A on top instead of W lol. Minor mistake no big deal for a jam game just wanted to point it out.)

Bird section was pretty hard but only took a few tries (though definitely could use some balancing to keep the story moving). Not a fan of the jump in the first platforming section but it wasn't bad, reminded me of Inside/Limbo with the light puzzles. Music was great, especially the end song and the heart monitor sound syncing with the music. Good concept overall.

@woodmancodes Thanks for the heads up, but we actually did the second sticky note like that intentionally! The first one was unintentional, but when I pointed it out to our artist we both loved it too much to remove it!

jampaktgames 2022-04-05 00:46

@themista92 Thanks a lot for the feedback! We were a bit rushed towards the later half of it, so we sped through the level design once we got to the tree haha. We actually posted a second build with a slightly more obvious blue box, but I'm guessing you played just before we uploaded it.

@garazbolg2 You can save the game for bad days as long as I can save your comment for mine! We really appreciate it, and we're glad to see the ending worked out just as well for others as it did for us!

I loved the theme a lot. Beautiful game. Also the tutorial was very nicely created.

michaell 2022-04-05 15:16

Wow! Absolutely touching!

boykala 2022-04-05 18:56

I like the collection of different styles of platforming mechanics each one was done pretty well and the game moves on before any of them get stale. Solid jam entry.

Please more checkpoints. Couldn't get past bed jumping.

The hand draw aesthetic is cute, but the hit boxes are very hard to judge which makes things a bit frustrating. Didn't make it past the flying level, I'm assuming that was the last one. Tried it a load of times but somehow just couldn't get through so didn't see the ending which is a shame. The simple mini games are ok, but I guess you were going more for the narative thing. Not so much my kind of thing, but I think it works pretty well for what you seem to be going for.

I found that the art style, mood, and theme were done well here. I felt that the story was the strongest aspect of the game, and the music track at the end was great. I think some better signaling to the player could go a long way. Overall, great submission!

animalx 2022-04-09 20:42

Amazingly strong story, music was engaging and loved the art style. Was a roller coaster of sad and happy moments, loved it. Thanks for this experience :)

applestreet-games 2022-04-09 22:54

I knew exactly what I signed up for in terms of mood and feelings and, man, this definitely hit home on that. Whimsical and sweet. A very good game to play and a touching story to be a part of. Good job!

gal-afik 2022-04-10 01:36

You did such a fantastic job with the limited time we had! The atmosphere and music are both spot on and the game actually almost made me tear up during the bird level. I will say that I wasn't able to beat the bird level since the difficulty curve spiked a bit too much. I played it three times but it was just too long for me to try again. I would recommend either making it shorter or adding an indication of how much is left to keep the player motivated. Awesome job overall! Please consider checking out our game if you have the time: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings

This is actually a very sad game, love the idea! The art style makes it a lot mor child-like, but also sometimes maybe hard to play (like to see the edge). Overall, I think you did an amazing job  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sonKdPv7UKo

This is a veryyyy good entry. One of my favorites out of the 40~ that i've played so far! Great work on everything including the art, animation, game design, audio and most importantly the story.
