Fantastic work! That was both hilarious and addicting. For a compo game, this was beyond any expectations I had.

Fantastic work! That was both hilarious and addicting. For a compo game, this was beyond any expectations I had.
I'm afraid I couldn't figure out how to play without dying almost immediately. The idea is interesting though and I would like to play it again if you choose to expand on it.
That was really enjoyable and well put together! i love the art and simple animations and the mechanics were simple and easy to grasp without making the game too easy. Great job!
This was a very entertaining arcade experience, though I would have like a button to be able to exit the tutorial stage!
That was fantastic! I can't find anything wrong to comment on. You created a seriously entertaining piece of art. Also, thanks for playing my game the other day!
This is dripping with polish! While I didn't enjoy the puzzles as much as I'd hoped (I'm too tired to think after programming for 72 hours), I really like the concept and wish this was a full game with more mechanics.
I enjoyed the concept and most of the execution. Your ambiance was spot-on. There were quite a few times that I died because the collider on your player/water is too large. There were plenty of times that I died as soon as the fans started spinning, rather than when I was touching the actual water.
Cool animation!
@omiya-games Same issue over here. If the block locks in place as the baby falls from above it, it will lock the baby in place with the block. I assumed that was the solution to this level, but...
tumblebaby.PNG
This is, by far, the best game I've seen this jam! This being a COMPO game makes it that much more impressive. This game is oozing with polish and I can't find anything to criticize!
Excellent job. I loved the animations and sound design. My only suggestion relates to the camera movement. There were times that I lost simply because the camera locked on to the main character but didn't move fast enough to catch up to the action, leaving me helpless with nothing to grab as my little player fell to his doom past grab-able objects that were just out of view. Otherwise, the game is fantastic. I actually started attending game jams thanks to your youtube channel and this is my first LD jam, so thank you!
This is a fun and really addicting little game. I really love the unique mechanic and great take on the theme! There is a weird "thing" going on with the background. When the character grows, it seems to flash as if it's shaking randomly, which is a bit jarring. Otherwise, I really love it!
The graphics and ambiance are great! The controls for walking being limited to WASD was a bit annoying at first. Overall, a fantastic jam project!
The art style is great and the music is fitting, but otherwise, there isn't much to do. I managed to get to a higher platform on the second day and just hold Up to destroy everything. The instructions are also a bit unclear. Am I supposed to destroy everything? Just some things? It's certainly a good project. I wish there was a tighter game loop.
The art style is phenomenal and I like the twist on the theme!
That was awesome! I really like the aesthetics and music. I really have no suggestions or complaints!
That was enjoyable, though short. I would recommend speeding up the character a bit. It felt like he was lagging behind at points.
I played through the new version and the ending triggered this time. I also really appreciate the character's new speed! Looks great!
This is really good. If I may add a suggestion: I would like it better if the player moved smoothly rather than in fixed distances.
What an absolutely fantastic little game! I would call it a hidden gem, except that it looks like I'm the only one who just found it. You already know your music, animations, and aesthetics are phenomenal. There's not much I can add other than suggesting some hints to the player about how to solve level 2 instead of relying on trial and error, which can get frustrating.
This is a great concept for a game! i love the sprite work and simple mechanics. The levels are challenging and entertaining and I would love to see an expanded version!
Great graphics and music! There were a few times where I walked into a new room and died immediately because the obstacles were right in front of the door and I couldn't see them.
That was quite entertaining. Not too much replay value, but it's a great jam project!
Super simple addicting game. The only suggestion I have is to add a health bar rather than a numerical. Otherwise, great work!
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't enter chargers. I tried pressing Up while next to them, overlapping them, and jumping near them, but nothing seems to work. Otherwise, this game looks incredible! I love the charging mechanic, which is similar to the main mechanic in my LD game, but the art totally blew me away! The animations are smooth and the title screen really draws you in. Fantastic job!
Great execution of a classic genre. I would have liked the game to move a bit fast, maybe slowing down right before an obstacle to let the player place a plank/spring? Great work either way.
This is the best game I've played from this jam! The art, music, design, etc. are all amazing! This truly is great. You should be very proud.
This is great! I love the music and pixel art style. The game feels very responsive and smooth. Two suggestions: a restart button would be awesome, especially considering the difficulty, and I would add a sound effect to indicate that the player is within range of Mac.
The theme was definitely represented well and I just wish game-play was a bit smoother. Otherwise, great job on your first solo jam!
The game is a bit too difficult, but I really love the skeleton sprites and animations and the bloom effect on the power source is very attractive.
The graphics, fx, and music are top notch! I really enjoyed the game and I think the difficulty is just the right mix of frustrating and addicting. Great work!
Hey, just a heads up: if you launch the game with a VR headset connected, it will not run properly. The game kept trying to launch my oculus software instead of starting the first level.
I really love the concept, but, unfortunately, I know little to nothing about sourdough starters and have no idea how to play! A tutorial would have been nice, but I understand the limitation, time-wise.
Great game! I enjoyed the simple concept and cute art style. It took me a few seconds to figure out how to play and I couldn't beat level 3, but enjoyed the experience.
@darylsteak Noted! I had so many more ideas for mechanics that didn't make it into the final game, but don't we all? The challenge curve could certainly be improved. Thank you for playing!
@arisl Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. My siblings have started competing for a high score but none have made it quite as far as 1300 yet
@palsina Thanks :) I really tried to get the right level of stress through the mechanics. It's a delicate balance for sure. Who knows? Maybe the next gate will be the right one!
@vivek-sharma20 Thanks for playing! I tried directing the player towards the gates using the signs scattered around, but, realistically, you just kind of have to figure it out over time. Once you play it a few times, you should have a good mental map of the airport.
@elbapotsnugg Thanks for playing! I didn't scale my canvases with the screen to start off with and only discovered the issue with the UI after the game was submitted. I feel like it would be cheating to make such a major change at this point :P
Hi @vulgaris . Thanks for playing the game! I'm hoping you didn't suffer too much :) The UI issue is my next to-do once I get some rest and get back to this game. The other is a real difficulty curve!
@llamallove Thanks!
@dummydojo Thanks for the useful feedback and honest review!
@celvin Thanks for playing! Yeah, the UI issues will need to be fixed, for sure, but it was a good learning experience.
@erebus Thank you for checking it out! Your feedback and suggestions have were very useful and I really enjoyed the rest of the stream. :)
@daltonleavey Thanks for the feedback! I had so many ideas for different mechanics and elements to increase replay-ability, but alas, time ran out.
@scott-steffes I'm glad you enjoyed your time in my totally-normal airport. I had a similar thought about the gate distances and timing later in development, but ran out of time before I could implement a more "fair" system. Someone else suggested getting bonus time for reaching earlier gates early enough. That could be an interesting way to help the player out a bit. γγγγ¨γγγγγΎγγ
@sndr Thank you for the valuable feedback. I'm going to work on improving the fairness and difficulty curve for the next version of the game. I, also, enjoyed the little walking animation. It was the first thing that I got done and really sold me on the concept.
@robotsandmuffins The frustration was somewhat on purpose. I tried balancing the player's stress over the phone/gate with a feeling of speed as you make your way through the airport. I'm glad you liked the idea!
@nodlehs I'm glad you had fun playing! I've been avoiding doing my own art by using assets from thenounproject.com for years :)
@daniel-moreno I've had plenty of time to come up with ideas for balancing the difficulty curve as well as increasing replay-ability. I hope to take this game a bit further in the coming weeks. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention again how much I loved your game, tiny fragments! Thank you for playing.
@01010111 Hi there! Thank you so much! I'm glad you had the time to check out my game.
@lukas-shiley I hadn't seen your game yet. It's neat to see how we started off with almost identical ideas and created two completely different games. I really like the graphics you guys used. Great work for it being during finals time!
@vaizaragorn I tried to integrate the UI in a way that was thematic, but not too overwhelming, though a certain level of overwhelming was intended :)
@aurel300 Thank you for playing the game during your stream! It was a pleasure seeing you play through and receiving great feedback. Your commentary was hilarious and very welcome!
@iamscissors Unfortunately, I ran out of time to really implement a solid difficulty curve, but that is one thing I am working on for future releases. Thank you for playing!
@ithildin Thank you so much for the glowing review! I'm glad you enjoyed my little stress overload simulation :)
@eran-haas Thank you and thanks for playing!
@turritom Thank you for playing and for the amazingly kind comment! I'm sure if you play long enough you'll reach your gate eventually... maybe.
@jupiter-hadley Thanks for playing the game in one of your videos! I've enjoyed watching them as they've come out these past few weeks. I mentioned in my youtube comment, but the game has to be played in a maximized window because of the UI issues. Feel free to give it another go and check if you have more fun without the UI getting cut off :P
That was pretty fun! I really liked your art assets and music, but wish the bounding boxes on the player/enemies were smaller. For an endless runner type game, I would recommend placing the player to the left side of the screen rather than the middle to allow the player more time to prepare for obstacles. I would also recommend that you make it more obvious how many lives the player has left. Otherwise, this is a fun little game with a decent amount of polish. Also, by the way, the title screen buttons are not aligned when played in full-screen. The quit button hovers somewhere in the top right corner while the player button is around the center.
This was a decent project. I'm not sure if others had the same issues, but the game ran way too fast for me. If you guys used the Unity engine to create this, you may need to account for the time between frames (ie. use Time.deltaTime). Otherwise, this has potential. It's a good start!
I couldn't quite figure out how to play, but the art, animations, and mood are terrific! I wish there was a soundtrack to go along with this and possibly a hailstorm :)
The was really cool. I'm getting strong Limbo vibes overall, and the sound design was top-notch. I would recommend adding some sort of distinction between the foreground layer and the default player level. There were times where I tried jumping over a ledge that ended up being part of the foreground.
I'm gonna have to come back and play this later. It looks great!
The art is great. It's hard to believe you made this in a weekend! Great job.
That was a neat tower defense game and plenty of fun. I feel like the difficulty curve was just right and I really enjoyed the animations and variation in enemy types.
This really is the perfect game for this jam! I'm pleasantly surprised! I honestly have no criticism or recommendations. 5/5 all around.
Interesting game! I enjoyed the humor at the start very much and would have loved a bit more of it thrown in at random points. I think the mechanics are solid and fit the theme very well, but the difficulty ramped up way too fast for my uncoordinated fingers to handle. I wish there was a steady incline in difficulty over time rather than a sudden burst right after the tutorial. Overall, a great jam game, though. Very cool idea and well executed to boot!
I like the idea very much and it has promise. Unfortunately, there was little to keep me invested in the long run. I don't like that the power recharges completely with just a few clicks. The game is too easy, which leaves you with only the messages to engage with. The only issue is that the messages (and I don't want to sound rude) feel like they were taken out of a teenager's idea of song lyrics for an emo band. They don't really have any meaning and don't interest me as a player. I would have much rather you told a story through the messages about the characters and given me a chance to care for them, rather than explicitly telling me I care about them in the messages. I think this is a good idea and very well executed, but I just wanted a little bit more. That said, great job for a jam game! Please consider checking out our game if you have the time: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings
Visually and musically incredible. I'd assumed you used pre-made assets until I scrolled up to make sure. This is a professional level product and I'm very impressed. The gameplay is smooth and feels fantastic. My only criticism is that I don't feel invested in continuing to the next level or collecting coins for points. Is there a leaderboard somewhere? If not, I don't really have any emotional connection with the character or want to see it succeed. That's really a very minor issue, though. Overall, you did one heck of a job for a jam game! Please consider checking out our game as well: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings
The art, mood, and general gameplay is just great! This is an awesome piece of media and the fact that it was made in just a weekend makes it that much more amazing!
What can I say really? 5/5
Fantastic in every way! This little game is a genius take on the theme and an example of great design in every aspect. Truly amazing. Congrats!
Cool game with a fun, easy to grasp concept. I would recommend adding in a directional notice to alert players to new cracks forming. Great work for a weekend! Please consider checking out our game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings
Very well made game for a jam! I think the music and atmosphere is spot on. It doesn't fit the theme too well in my opinion and the controls feel a bit floaty, but it's still fairly polished and very well executed. How are you storing the online leaderboard data? Are you using an online service or storing it yourselves on a server? Please consider checking out our game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings
@nardandas Thank you for the feedback! I agree that some QOL mechanics would have been great. We ran out of time near the end of the jam but if we ever come back to this or build on this concept we'll make sure to include a "rally all" button as well as viking selection improvements, and an "Upgrade all" option.
@sn4pi Thanks for the review :) The enemies are actually spawning in a wave system but there's no delay between waves. We're bringing out a QOL version of the game soon and might add a delay between waves if enough people mention that as a concern.
@theunusualart Thanks for the review! A few of the vikings do get stuck sometimes. We've fixed that in the updated version that we'll be releasing in a few days.
@ehon Haha, thanks! We had a great time making the game and hope to get something even better out next jam!
@samuli Yeah, the AI needs just a tiny bit of work, but we're working on it!
@psytron Hey, you're the first to guess the inspiration for this game! :)
@evileptic Yup :) They're the perfect thing for jam games. Highly recommended.
@necdilzor Thanks! If you haven't had a chance yet, give the QOL version a try! We added a bunch of quality of life improvements like being able to easily select each Viking and being able to upgrade multiple Vikings at once!
Truly fantastic game. My daughter woke up while I was playing so I couldn't finish the game. Please fix this bug.
I'll start by saying that I didn't actually play the game and won't rate it to be fair. The art style looks awesome and I would love to try it out at some point, but starting your description by mentioning that it's a long experience means I just don't have the time to play it during the jam. I hope you do well in the jam!
You did such a fantastic job with the limited time we had! The atmosphere and music are both spot on and the game actually almost made me tear up during the bird level. I will say that I wasn't able to beat the bird level since the difficulty curve spiked a bit too much. I played it three times but it was just too long for me to try again. I would recommend either making it shorter or adding an indication of how much is left to keep the player motivated. Awesome job overall! Please consider checking out our game if you have the time: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings
I appreciate that you went back and fixed some game-breaking bugs and that you made sure to list them in a changelog. Now on to the game itself: I think the difficulty needs to increase faster. I quit after day 27 because I didn't see an end in sight and the game got too repetitive. The plate washing controls are a bit finicky but I think that's completely fine. I love the aesthetic and music. Great work overall! Please consider checking out our game as well: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/25-vikings
I don't have time to play every game, but I saw your game on Twitch. It's looks very polished and well done overall. The music is thematically fitting and the basic color-coordination is very engaging and intuitive. Very well done!
