Very fun concept! I felt mechnically the game might be made a little more playable by things like allowing click-and-hold to ease clicking, and a little more friendliness in unit selection. I often found myself struggling to do the action I wanted to. The hoardes did indeed quickly becoming overwhelning, and death, ineveitable.

Really unique aesthetic! The game was fun and straightforward to play, but very difficult (fitting the theme).

@nardandas Thank you for the feedback! I agree that some QOL mechanics would have been great. We ran out of time near the end of the jam but if we ever come back to this or build on this concept we'll make sure to include a "rally all" button as well as viking selection improvements, and an "Upgrade all" option.

Very nice graphics. Soundtrack and sound effects are good as well. Gameplay itself is hard but that's fine. I noticed some things which could improve the gameplay experience: - Upgrading single troops by clicking them first takes too much time. Maybe upgrade the whole selection?! Not sure - Micro managing different units to open/collect/fight things is also hard. Maybe make selections assignable to slots. For example: "select units, CTRL+1 saves them to the first slot, SHIFT+1 to select units in slot 1. let units in slot 1 open cages, select slot 2 and let them fight some giants"
Anyway for a jam game it is really polished. Keep it up! Also here is my record. Didn't get very far though. vikings.png
The pathfinding seems a bit off and the UI needs a bit of work (Selecting the units one by one just to upgrade them is not really feasible), but great idea, nice graphics and music and a good fit for the theme overall. Thank you for submitting it to my stream.

I'm here from the stream. Nice game! I think it would be more fitting to have a wave system for the spawning enemies instead of being stressed out for the whole time. Apart from that I loved it!

@sn4pi Thanks for the review :) The enemies are actually spawning in a wave system but there's no delay between waves. We're bringing out a QOL version of the game soon and might add a delay between waves if enough people mention that as a concern.
That was a great game, I had a lot of fun playing it! I love that each viking had his own name, makes it feel more personal :) Game starts easy, but gets out of control really fast, definitely a great challenge. Sometimes a few of my vikings got stuck in some enviroment props and couldn't move, but overall the game worked really well. Good job!

Wow, such a cool and polished game. It was really fun and the tactical challenge was quite balanced for a jam game. Great entry! For the Valhalla!

@theunusualart Thanks for the review! A few of the vikings do get stuck sometimes. We've fixed that in the updated version that we'll be releasing in a few days.
@ehon Haha, thanks! We had a great time making the game and hope to get something even better out next jam!
Very cool stylized look - game feels nicely polished. The pace did feel quite fast but that does align with the theme as well I suppose. Would be nice to be able to upgrade multiple Vikings at once as well. Very nice Jam overall!

Great to see some rts representation here. Graphics and atmosphere were top notch. Gameplay itself was a bit lacking in player feedback of who is attacking what and walking where, but just making a well functioning rts on a jam is a great feat on itself!

@samuli Yeah, the AI needs just a tiny bit of work, but we're working on it!

@evileptic Yup :) They're the perfect thing for jam games. Highly recommended.
What a great job, I love the 3d art done here, it's simple but super attractive. The game is undoubtedly one of the kinds of games that I like, and if a game has Vikings, it's good! jajaja! I found the gameplay very fun and well done. The game is super polished and complete, a great job!! xD
Neat game, I like the combination of micromanagement and smiting. Takes me back to the sheep in Warcraft 3, except I'm actually helping my guys.

Nice game and interesting concept! Good job!
Very good RTS idea, it was a struggle to balance all objectives on the plate and eventually the inevitable happened. It was a bit hard to upgrade my vikings and a lot of monsters were stuck on the top right corner. But the presentation and the music is impeccable. Overall, I liked it a lot!

@necdilzor Thanks! If you haven't had a chance yet, give the QOL version a try! We added a bunch of quality of life improvements like being able to easily select each Viking and being able to upgrade multiple Vikings at once!
