Nice job, like Hotline Miami with a twist of ammo conservation to fit the theme.

pio 2017-08-01 04:32

From the screenshots it looks like a cool game, but unfortunately I wasn't able to run it on my system.

notapollogising 2017-08-01 04:35

@pio what system are you using? I'm going to make a mac build soon.

sausage-squad-games 2017-08-01 04:37

Same thing here. I'm on win10 and I can't seem to run this game.

notapollogising 2017-08-01 04:38

@sausage-squad-games That's not good. Is there an error message? I'm also using win10.

will-walters 2017-08-01 04:40

Cool concept for the game! Well executed too, it's fun. I wish you could restart after you die, though, instead of closing the game.

notapollogising 2017-08-01 04:42

@will-walters You can! Just press R. :)

miltonnh25 2017-08-01 16:46

When I tried playing the game, it started me on the "you win but try this level though it probability not impossible" which I assume is not the first level and there was no way to play the other levels.

notapollogising 2017-08-01 16:54

@miltonnh25 Oh god, that's not good at all. I've fixed it, I accidentally compiled the debug mode.

gris 2017-08-01 17:00

I got addicted to it and didn't stop till I beat it so well done. The R key to restart you say somewhere because that nearly makes me stop playing after the second time I had to close and start again. Really simple but addictive game, a pity it was so short! Congrats!

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-01 17:43

Very nice game with awesome mechanics, graphics are retro styled and looks awesome. Good Job!

capitals 2017-08-01 18:01

I Enjoyed playing this, its hella innovative, however the game doesn't seem to let you navigate at all when the lights go out.

notapollogising 2017-08-01 18:05

@capitals Oops! I'll fix that right now.

alexanderteah 2017-08-01 18:06

Nice and simple game! I love how there was a lot of polish added such as turning down the volume and reducing the brightness after expending some light, which is awesome! Well done!

thygrrr 2017-08-01 18:29

AWESOME TITLE! MAde me insta-click, haha!

Highly innovative gameplay linking illumination to ammo count. I can imagine this working in a bunch of games really well. Sweet idea!

Gameplay is snappy, and what it would benefit most from is some inertia on the player so you could slide a bit.

Aiming feels a bit imprecise at times, but it's better than in Hotline Miami. :)

the-enigma 2017-08-01 18:40

2017-08-01 (2).png Fun game, very reminiscent of hotline miami, the addition of limited ammo made for some really cool levels, only complaint is the time between shots is a bit too long but I'm sure you had a good reason for it, congrats

jake-cope 2017-08-01 21:25

I can't load the game as well, I open the application and the screen stays white and eventually says "Not Responding". No error message or anything. :/

ruba 2017-08-01 22:38

I like polished mechanics. Didn't manage to finish last level after "you win". I liked that it is possible to find an exit without light at all :)

ikiste3d 2017-08-01 23:01

unfortunately white screen/not responging on my pc also :/ (win7 64bit), but I had a good laugh with the game's title ahahahah :P

brendan-engelman 2017-08-02 02:32

When I try to run it I just get a white window and the application stops responding. After a while an error message saying "this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" pops up. The game looks fun, if you get it fixed I'd love to play it.

notapollogising 2017-08-02 03:04

@brendan-engelman I think I fixed it, a lot of people have been reporting that error but I couldn't find out how to fix it so I reverted to an old file.

lino 2017-08-02 03:24

This was fun. I like how smooth the gameplay feels, and the light mechanics added a fun bit of strategy on top of that. Primarily I think it would benefit from allowing a faster firing rate.

dracominer 2017-08-02 19:36

This game was actually really fun. I made it past the final level. The whole game worked well together. If you just polished up a few things, like not really knowing if you're dead yet or not after your last bullet is gone, and some AI bugs, this woudl be a decently marketable game. I woudl love to play this game more if more content was added to it. ie more levels.

mamoniem 2017-08-03 01:03

Still "Not responding"

I'm getting this guy...

Comment on my page when it's working, I'd like to play it! :)

(Win10)

steve-johnson 2017-08-03 04:54

The Mac build works fine.

I really wanted more variation. It got really repetitive really quickly, and the lights-as-bullets mechanic, while funny, didn't actually change the basic gameplay of a limited ammo twin stick shooter.

That said, you did finish, so good work!

jeremy-ryan 2017-08-03 04:55

Nevermind! Was a security thing. Got it working fine on Windows 10.

notapollogising 2017-08-03 05:03

@steve-johnson thanks for the feedback! I realized after release that there's a lot more possible variation. For example, more enemies, more hp, different enemies, different guns, melee weapons, etc. I think I'm going to make a post jam build.

jeremy-ryan 2017-08-03 05:07

Got all the way through to the secret room ;)

Neat little game, the light mechanic is cool. I feel like there could be more enemy types to add variety to the level design. Graphics are plain but work, music could be better, but overall pretty good work for a weekend. Nice job!

deke 2017-08-03 13:47

Really cool and polished mechanics! Reminded me a lot of Hotline Miami (which is a good thing!) :D I also like game where your primary resource of progressing is also the thing that pretty much kills you. It's a really nice dynamic. I'd have *loved* to see some more variety in the different stages (like some kind of puzzle or something like that), but you did an amazing job nonetheless! :)

steve-johnson 2017-08-03 19:12

One more thing: GREAT name. :-)

2017-08-05 16:24

Nice concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJb17RPmbsA
