I'm a mean bastard who has left very blunt feedback on every game I've rated. Don't hold back; if you see some issue let 'er rip in the comments below.

Also, if the mac or linux build doesn't actually work, please let us know so we can take it down.

This was a really cool game! I loved the portal vibes. And it was extremely original following the theme very well with its 1st person player and 3rd person turret. While it was very difficult to aim the turret from an outside perspective that added to the fun! 5/5 innovation and theme!

Had a cool idea, but felt really awkward playing and there wasn't much variation throughout. There was a good idea and it was innovative, but not much fun. I really liked the idea though, just doesn't seem plausible. Just thought you should know too that you ran into a bug when you were playing my game which I have fixed since then. Really nice idea though.

The concept seemed interesting. But I'm not sure it translated into fun. The exhilarating thing about a shooter is that you're in the action. I just felt like I was watching someone else play a game even though it was me. The graphics were kinda simple but that's to be expected in a game jam. Also, I glitched through a wall and fell out of the map. All in all, I would say a good effort but it didn't really make me want to try more.

The macOS build works. Interesting idea.

I do agree with other people, but I think the concept is interesting enough that this could totally work with some testing and ironing out the exact execution, though I couldn't say exactly what I'd do, but it's definitely a really cool concept that I like a lot

To be honest i'd agree with feeling like it was watching someone else play. a little stale for me abut you did a lot with what you had.

i'd suggest upping the pace a bit and working on controls. they should work with the player a bit more to help the aiming. great job though!

I really dig this idea. A bit frustrating at times when there wasn't any good vantage point to line up shots, but when everything clicked I had a lot of fun.

I really loved it and I think you should keep working on it in your free time

I feel like the idea has potential, but it wasn't polished enough to be very fun. I had a very difficult time aiming the gun when I couldn't stand directly behind it, and there wasn't much feedback in things like the gun getting too hot, which would have made it much easier to play. I'd be interested in a post-jam version if you're going to make one, though.

This is a fun game; there's a lot of opportunity to build some really fantastic puzzles around this mechanic. The controls took just a second to get used to, but then I was able to play with no problem. Really fun; great work!

Good take on the theme, fun concept. The game felt a bit clunky, with the confined spaces making it hard to line up shots occasionally. Generally, the game could use more variety in enemies or surroundings, but, as it is a game jam with tight time constraints, you've done well.

ketura 2018-04-29 23:39

@kevin-mooney Yeah, we came to the conclusion that we tried to hard to get an idea that satisfied the theme as well as possible and in the process lost somewhat in the fun department. As an FYI, tho, your gun doesn't overheat, but it shuts down after getting shot too much by enemies. This only reinforces the fact that the feedback was suboptimal, however.

Holy crap this game is brilliant. It started to really shine at the 2nd puzzle when you can hide behind the glass on the right and maneuver the cannon from there. It makes you think in 2 different dimensions and it was such a nice take on 1st+3rd person at the same time. I think the game shines the most when you have to handle the 2 pretty separately like in those instances, and weakens when you can just hide mostly behind the turret. Really expandable mechanic with a lot of potential if you add different cannon features to it. I don't think it was frustrating like the others have said, I think it comes back to the essence of play for me (try things, experiment with it and see what it does) and that was fun. I do think the death penalty should be just to retry a room or something, since it takes quite a while to backtrack to where you were, or perhaps just making enemies take only 1-2 hits.
