LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Limbo Runner by jk5000 2021-04-27T18:44:26Z

Awesome game! I do wish that I could change the keybind for the limbo though, it would be nice to be able to click my mouse button instead of the space bar. But great art and animations, and the voice acting was great too. Overall really good job!

Deeper n' Dipper by GameDevExtreme 2021-04-27T20:59:06Z

Very interesting game. The controls were slightly weird, having to use enter on the dialog when my hand is on WASD and the other hand is on my mouse. And it definitely needs some bullet animations, I couldn't see where I was shooting. Cool game though, awesome job!

shaftception by testudor 2021-04-28T13:02:48Z

Cool game! I enjoyed the WASD part, it's a nice little twist. And it's a short track, easy to memorize what's coming next. I got down to 27.33 seconds. Great artwork and level design, fun mechanics, great game!

Dimensions by Tarcisiotm 2021-04-27T20:15:45Z

Cool concept, really short but a really innovative idea. Enjoyed the music and the art too. Well done.

Holey Hell by managore 2021-04-27T16:15:19Z

Awesome game. It took me a second to understand what was happening, but I think that's exactly what a good game should have. Such a unique concept, and the trippy colors were perfectly contrasting each other to make each level feel different. Not too easy, not too difficult. Best game I've tried so far, great job!!

Payday by LuckyFeathers 2021-04-27T20:11:27Z

Awesome game! I really like the art direction, everything sticks to the art style. And it's a cool adaptation of the theme, going deeper and deeper in debt. The animations were a bit wonky but that's understandable for a game jam. And it would be nice to have a health bar or something, but those are really just minor things. Overall great job, great game!

Touchdown by Paul Nadan 2021-05-11T16:05:53Z

Really great game! Man that quarterback has one heck of an arm. Awesome graphics, great piano music in the background, and the difficulty was perfect. It was hard enough to really challenge me, while also easy enough that it was frustrating when I messed up because I knew it was my own fault. Really cool and unique concept, really just great game overall. Well done!

P.S. This is the first game that I've given all 5 stars on!

Hellscape by ToxicComputer 2021-04-28T12:49:51Z

This game was super fun! High speed, mechanical gameplay. The level generation is excellent, there were always spots for me to hide and use line of sight to my advantage. There were a couple times that I fell too far on the side view levels and couldn't reach the doorway, but that was easily solved with a quick reset.

The only 2 real issues I found were that the character is way too tall on the top down levels making it sometimes literally impossible to dodge the bullets flying at you, and if you are up against the wall, you can't shoot away from it because of the wonky gun rotation.

Overall, it definitely needs some polishing, but the game mechanics were great and this was one of the most fun games I've played in this jam! Awesome job!

Moonless Pit by Wojciech Bruski 2021-04-29T15:30:26Z

Solid game, I agree with @kornel and @dominium11, it definitely feels like a good mobile game. The sounds and graphics are great, the movement feels nice and smooth, it just needs some score to tie it all together.

Ronin Blade by joni-jarvinen 2021-04-27T16:04:44Z

Cool game, nice arcadey music and pixel graphics. It was fun dashing around with the sword, and the enemies felt balanced. Overall great job!

A Psychic's Interview by AronIngi 2021-04-27T19:06:14Z

A bit strange, but the narration is pretty nice. I got a little confused though when the red guy started attacking me, didn't really know what to do. Cool concept though!

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-28T20:56:39Z

Awesome game, I'm absolutely blown away that you managed to make this in 72 hours. Beautiful art, lively music, awesome gameplay, and great progression. All around amazing.

Deeper into Carnage by Zelberor 2021-04-27T20:30:44Z

... Interesting game to say the least ... It was pretty fun, the movement felt a bit crazy, and I was constantly ramping off of boxes and flying around. It definitely needs a crosshair and some sort of feedback when you hit an enemy. It felt like my bullets weren't doing anything most of the time. Funny game though, you have quite the imagination...

Hungry Jungle by mitsu.artemius 2021-04-27T19:59:36Z

I really enjoyed the controls for this game, though it would be nice to have a better highlight of which character you are selecting / have selected. And I got to the end of level 18 and it said something like "You've reached the end, or have you?" And then I couldn't get through the door, and there was nothing else on the level, so I didn't know what to do and gave up after about 5 minutes of walking around aimlessly on that level.

Overall a fun game though, good job!

Chicken Robot on Mars by Koroshi 2021-04-27T20:24:21Z

Cool little game, similar to the binding of isaac, but with the falling added to it. As many others have said, the falling is a bit too fast. But thankfully you made the respawns instant so you can get right back in the action. Literally making the falling speed maybe 10-15% slower and this game would be great!

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:19:16Z

@cievers Thank you! The sword (or knife) was actually meant to be used on a different obstacle, the log is an obstacle for later.

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:20:25Z

@divford Thank you for the feedback! Those problems were mainly due to lack of time to implement. Definitely something I would do if we had a little longer to work on it.

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:20:55Z

@lucky-zucc Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:21:11Z

@zype Thank you!!

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:22:36Z

@joni-jarvinen Thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately the sword wasn't for the monster, though that would have been a great addition. Currently the only thing to do is to run away from the monster.

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:24:30Z

@asdehielo Thank you for the feedback! That was definitely a bug, sorry about that! If anyone else encounters that bug just pause and unpause the game and it should fix it for you.

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T16:26:03Z

@venitherich Thank you for such awesome feedback! Adding hints was something I wanted to do but just didn't have the time to implement them. We really appreciate the time you spent writing that all up though, thank you so much!

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T20:49:16Z

@tom-stephenson Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-04-27T21:00:04Z

@sodaro Thank you! Yeah there was no combat, running away was the best move there. Glad you enjoyed it!

Muggy Lake by Bossus 2021-05-24T13:59:00Z

@togis Thank you for playing our game! I enjoyed watching your stream of it. You were right at the end of the game, if you make it past that monster you find your dog on a little island behind it. You can avoid the monster by going left, we placed it on the right side there on purpose, but maybe we should have made it take multiple hits to kill you or something. And a bit more feedback on what was actually happening could have helped a lot.

Great review though, thank you once again for playing it and giving such good feedback!

Alien Abyss by Tom Stephenson 2021-04-27T20:54:01Z

What a beautiful game! Really awesome art work and game feel. The only problem I found is that the enemies were way too few and far between. But seriously awesome art work and the music was cool too. Great job!

Down Under by TheAppleCake 2021-04-28T20:19:04Z

Simply amazing game. I sat and played it for 2 hours straight. Got all the way to depth 1000 ... and then I fell indefinitely afterward lol. And I know you didn't make the music but it was a really great choice, I was jamming to it the whole time I was playing. The only criticism I can give is that you need more than 1000 depth, or at least start limiting the amount of green rocks exponentially to give it sort of a soft depth limit. Really, really great job though, I had a great time playing this game!

The Whole Game by NBumgardner 2021-04-27T16:00:50Z

Interesting game, the drill moved way too slow for me though, it was very frustrating just waiting to make it to the hole. Enjoyed the art and overall theme though!

Tom's Twist by TheBlindEye 2021-04-28T12:32:00Z

I enjoyed this game, it was a nice little story with a funny twist at the end. It was a bit hard to find the mailbox clue without hints, but the movement was great and it was fun to jump around. And I enjoyed your low poly art style. Great job!

The circuit by AdamsMcCall 2021-04-29T15:36:11Z

Really unique game, I enjoyed it a lot! I wish you had time to make more levels, but the core game design is really fun to play.

Depth of Death by KenForest 2021-04-27T19:20:26Z

Cool game, I enjoyed the art style, felt like a good ol' N64 Goldeneye game. But the overall game play wasn't super exciting in my opinion. I don't think that adding health to enemies makes them harder to kill, just more tedious than anything. I would much rather fight 50 enemies that take 1 shot to kill, than fight 1 enemy that takes 50 shots to kill. But the level design and the environment around it were great. Good job!

Insomnia by Newrybenson 2021-04-27T18:57:42Z

I like the art style of this game a lot, it's very minimalistic with great color schemes. I ran into an issue though on the "deepest level of sleep" (I think i might have fallen through the map or something). The gameplay wasn't super engaging, but the visuals made up for it. Solid game overall!

Also, I love the title screen, that's a great way to make a menu.

Underworld Postal Service by Beep Boop 2021-04-27T19:32:34Z

This game is really fun! It's paced well, and definitely stressful when you have a bunch of mail that needs to be delivered. It forced me to come up with a strategy to get them all out as fast as possible. And I love the level design with the ladders going to different levels to make it even more difficult to get to where you're going.

AND it quite literally fits the theme of going deeper and deeper. Just amazing all around.

Everything about this game was awesome, great job!

Super Deep Olympic Diver by Bruno Bombardi 2021-04-28T12:59:06Z

Awesome game, really great artwork and animations, and game feel overall. I liked the WASD thing at the beginning, and the underwater part felt really good. Dolphins are always great too. Overall really nice job!

To The Core by ZazaB 2021-04-29T15:52:22Z

Fun game, the engine cooling is a nice twist on idle games. I would have liked to see maybe a diagram/map of how deep I've drilled instead of just the numbers, and the final drill upgrade jumps way too much from like 2000 to 50000, which made that last stretch a bit boring while I just waited for the money to come in. Overall great game though, really relaxing and entertaining.

Into the Dark by Branton Lansdale 2021-04-28T12:24:15Z

Really nice artwork, and cool idea for a game. Unfortunately, as others have said, it is way too dark to see anything. It makes sense that you want the player to be isolated, but I literally couldn't see a thing at times, and I was just walking around aimlessly without knowing where I was going. Good job though!

Help! I'm trapped in an arcade factory! by negabyte 2021-04-28T20:32:50Z

Really cool concept, it was a bit frustrating to play in the 3d world, and things moved really slowly in general. But the whole idea behind the game is great, and I enjoyed the music and artwork too!

Deeper in space by Demo20 2021-04-27T20:47:33Z

Great game, fast paced and fun to control the character. It's a bit slow to ramp up the difficulty though, maybe it could introduce more enemies (or harder ones) sooner. Great job though!
