I enjoyed this game, it was a nice little story with a funny twist at the end. It was a bit hard to find the mailbox clue without hints, but the movement was great and it was fun to jump around. And I enjoyed your low poly art style. Great job!

nosfer 2021-04-28 13:27

Nice graphics - remind me of old vector adventure games like Hunter for Amiga. I like the story telling and narration. I got a bit lost when I just had to look into mailbox :) I would add some sound effects and maybe "grunts" before dialog lines.

theblindeye 2021-04-28 15:22

@kelvination and @nosfer thank you so much for playing my game. About the mailbox clue, I think I'll add a line of dialogue in the next version. Have a wonderful day :D

This was a fun lystery game. the art was simple but nice. nice little twist but i got stuck for a while at the axe . as previously mentioned about the letter box a couple more hints would be great maybe timed ones if the player is being slow like me. this is also something i wish i put in my game so you are not alone on that one lol.

theblindeye 2021-04-29 16:30

@steelax Thanks for playing my game, and for the feedback :D

theblindeye 2021-04-30 10:10

Update: HTML5 version is up!

kuviman 2021-04-30 10:36

The text moves too quickly, was really hard to read it, but a very nice game otherwise

j0ye 2021-04-30 10:47

You can double the walking speed, by walking forward and sideways at the same time. o avoid this, make sure to only multiply the final vector of the walking direction once with the speed multiplier and not every axis or input each. I did that mistake before. You should also read up about the lighting tab in unity. Very easy to understand and a powerful for static scenes like yours. Just check the "static" box for every object, that will not move and bake your scene.

All in all this looks nice. It is short, but well made and the player can see and enjoy every step of the workflow, every bit of work you put into the game.

theblindeye 2021-04-30 11:00

@j0ye Thanks for this feedback. I'll try to solve this bug.

About the static gameobject, they are already checked as static and the scene is baked.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day :D

Nice game! Agree with others that it is sometimes not really clear what to do, maybe some hints would help. There are lots of bugs with the shadows, notably it seems to use something like cascaded shadow maps but the transition between cascades is wrong (see the screenshot - the circle of cascade transition is clearly seen on the left window). Tree LODs felt a bit awkward as well - they change to low-LOD too soon, and why would you use LODs for such low-poly models anyway? Nevertheless, fun game, enjoyed jumping around and kicking the ball, good job!

theblindeye 2021-05-01 09:01

@lisyarus Thank you for playing my game and for this great feedback. The shadows "bug" is because you played the Web version of the game ( it's a 3d game that runs on the web, so it needs to be downgraded).

About the LOD, I'll adjust it in the next post-jam update.

Thanks again and have an amazing day :D

I think the game is really cute! I wish I wasn't talking to void people though, a little stand in would have been nice and I did find myself wandering around until something happened when I didn't quite know what to do. The music also felt a little out of place until the twist at the end. Overall I enjoyed it though!

theblindeye 2021-05-02 17:41

@lyssa Thank you so much! I couldn't make npcs in the time, but maybe in the future there will be. I'll add some clues in the dialogue to lead the player.

Have a wonderful day :D

c4scar 2021-05-05 23:08

Nice and short lol. The dialogue was a little fast and sometimes I missed some stuff leading me to get lost. Maybe add some sort of goal tracker so that if you forget what you are supposed to investigate you can just remind yourself. The lighting was very happy.

theblindeye 2021-05-06 05:10

@c4scar Thank you so much for playing my game. Now I'm working on the new update for the game, which includes the speed of the dialogue being slower.

Have a great day :D

sanemsky 2021-05-07 11:04

What a fun game :D I love it when people think outside the box with the theme. Just some feedback.. I think the conversations speed is a bit much, you can maybe link it do clicking as well. I didn't find the foot steps at first and tried to find some stairs actually LOL then I wanted to replay the conversation, if it's not so much trouble maybe you can add a replay function like if you go back to jhonson and can't and don't contiune with the other clues, you can read the conversations again. And I didn't see an axe unfortunately, maybe try a bit different color to catch the player's eye. Overall I really enjoyed it. Really good job for a first game :D:D

theblindeye 2021-05-07 14:06

@sanemsky Thank you so much for playing my game and for the feedback.

I have to think more about your suggestion about the dialogue replay feature, but the dialogue speed will be slowed down.

I'll add some lines of dialogue about the axe too.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day :D

Ahh, the "everything went better than expected meme" fits here ;D I thought it was funny, I was almost expecting some jump scare :D A well-planned game with a plot-twist, nice work!

If you want feedback for a future version:

* I think the low-poly is really clean and neat and the models deserve baked lighting I think, it would make them look even more awesome, try it out! :)

* Maybe set the gravity value for the on the WASD axis to something higher, it would make the movement less floaty!

You made a finished game, I hope you feel proud and welcome to Ludum Dare :D Keep on making games!

theblindeye 2021-05-08 19:03

@0x01f0 Thank you so much for this feedback!

I baked the light, but I think it wasn't properly done, considering it's my first 3d game also. I'll try to do it again.

Good point about the gravity value, I'll patch that in the next update.

Thanks again for all and have a wonderful day :D

darkshadow 2021-05-08 19:56

Nice low poly style, and great little narrative, good pace. A minor improvement would be to face the player looking out the door on the second day rather than facing into the door.

francisco-lucas 2021-05-08 20:29

Okay I really started to get scared when I found the ax, because the game has a VERY friendly aesthetic and atmosphere. The feeling was that everything was fine, but that something horrible could happen at any time HAHAH. Good work!

And you can play football, it's REALLY a good game!

theblindeye 2021-05-09 08:38

@darkshadow and @francisco-lucas Thank you so much for playing.

Darkshadow thanks for the suggestion.

I hope you are having a fantastic day :D

guladam 2021-05-15 18:18

Yaaay!

We found the easter egg with the goal when kicking the ball! :soccer: Such a wholesome experience. Good dialogue, charming low-poly style, I think it's an awesome game overall, really enjoyed it!

The ending caught me off guard, cute twist! :v:

Some constructive feedback: - Maybe think about omitting "Twist" from the title because it instantly made me expect some kind of twist. If you don't add it, the surprise will be bigger at the end! - I don't really like invisible boundaries / barriers that much. Maybe you could consider closing it down with a "Road under construction" sign or something like that, but I understand that you had very limited time to do that.

Great job overall, such a charming little gem!

theblindeye 2021-05-15 21:19

@guladam Thank you so much for playing my game and for the compliments.

I thought about this title under 1 minute because my time was short for submitting the game, but maybe(if I came up with a better one) I'll change it.

About the road signed that blocks the roads, I don't know what to say. I really like how it is rn. I wanted to make just a portion of a village, that's separated from the others, and that's why the neighbors are so close sentimentally to each other.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day :D
