Well, that got crazy there in the later levels. My one big complaint is that I wish there was some feedback when you hit the guys. Either I was consistently missing or I would hit a few times and it seemed like eventually an enemy would fall over, but there was no real feedback that I hit them in the meantime, so I couldn't tell for sure. That would have improved the experience a lot, in the end.

Other than that one big complaint, good job. It was a fun little game. I made it to depth 6 before being overwhelmed (the second time, the first time I just completely messed up and didn't make it too far).

stefan0198 2021-04-27 20:28

Very interesting game :) The enemies look really disgusting, great job!

Somehow when I don't move, I'm automatically pushed backwards. Also it seems like I can't damage the enemies directly? Can I only damage them with the crates?

zstrik 2021-04-27 20:29

Great game !! I can't feel my finger anymore

vknauss 2021-04-27 20:30

I really like the concept and the use of the theme! I thought the game was sort of hard to play though, since the camera rotation was really slow and the movement was really fast. But I liked the assets and thought it was fun running around a giant room filled with 200 zombies

wartronic 2021-04-27 20:30

@aflatthrasher we actually made a little Animation when hitting the enemies - but wew went that much FPP action you might be unable to see it because you can't focus on it,

Thanks for the Feedback!

maximegammaitoni 2021-04-27 20:30

Excellent idea ! i love FPS into jam submissions, great work

kelvination 2021-04-27 20:30

... Interesting game to say the least ... It was pretty fun, the movement felt a bit crazy, and I was constantly ramping off of boxes and flying around. It definitely needs a crosshair and some sort of feedback when you hit an enemy. It felt like my bullets weren't doing anything most of the time. Funny game though, you have quite the imagination...

matif100 2021-04-27 20:32

I really feel like the game is just some assets crammed into one place. Movement was broken and my character was jumping all over the place uncontrollably. Also shotgun deals too low damage compared to amount of enemies and time given for each floor. After reaching something around 15th, there were already so many objects, that the game just started hanging everything in mid-air

wartronic 2021-04-27 20:33

@stefan0198 you can hit theam directly, but you need two full salvos if you hit the enemies to kill them (and i know, its easier to hit the crats, that might have fooled you)

About the moving issue, thats interesting, we did not encounter that while testing (it might be because of some crates pushing you when they fall down, but hey, you are not supposed to stand around anyways ;) )

cievers 2021-04-27 20:36

That's one hell of a carnage, especially on the larger floors with many many butchers! Your shots really feel impactful though, some sound and camera shake might have gone a long way here ;)

allov 2021-04-27 20:36

took me a while to understand that bullets are actually projectiles aha. I liked that mobs followed you on the next level.

cal 2021-04-27 20:38

Really great take on the theme, I got to depth 5 before getting mauled by zombies :) The concept is very good, it reminded me a bit of fall guys. Constructive feedback-wise, it'd be worth adding a bit of game-juice polish (not sure the technical term), this video's helped me in past: youtube watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg (won't let me paste the raw link)

----- For anyone running macos that's also getting "You do not have permission to open the application" if you right click the MacOs download, press Show package contents, drag the Contents/Macos/Deeper Into Carnage into terminal with this command, it will allow you to run:

"chmod +x /Users/X/Downloads/MacOS.app/Contents/MacOS/Deeper\ into\ Carnage" -----

wartronic 2021-04-27 20:41

@cal Thank you for giving the fix for MacOS (we did the build but neither Zelberor nor me have a MacOS Device, so we did not know how to run it (or if it runs at all like our html5 build), so thank you for pointing that out!

owen-kidd 2021-04-27 20:41

Great job! It was fun running a giant swarm of those enemies around and trying not to get pinned down. I'm not sure if my bullets were hurting them, but I enjoyed it anyway.

narajeamfry 2021-04-27 20:42

Overall the concept is fun and interesting! The only things I would want to see for a proof of concept would be... a bit of feedback overall (when changing levels, when killing enemies...), improving the shooting (feels a bit unresponsive, aiming is hard) and adding some sort of scoring or brag rights of any kind.

With these, I could easily play one or two hours just to try to best myself.

Pretty impressive models and graphics!!

bobafett89 2021-04-27 20:58

This game has potential, if this game had audio and impact from shotgun it would be better, I like that when you pickup Yellow arrow you become very fast. Well done!

kszaku 2021-04-27 21:00

it was a pretty decent shooter, even if movement was a bit janky. I wish you kept on working on that game!

wartronic 2021-04-27 21:05

@kszaku we will! in a few days we will make a fix for some of the issues pointed out - stay tuned!

yetrecalllaw 2021-04-27 21:13

Pretty fun, made it to depth 104 before deciding to move on. Enemies are pretty tanky and it took a little while to get used to the aim point; shotgun archery! lol.

The gameplay was simple but that's ok. Chasing the pink powerups and spam clicking to minigun all the enemies was super fun.

wartronic 2021-04-27 21:15

@yetrecalllaw depth 104? thats amazing! I did not expect people to get beyond 20! congratz!

gentlemelon01 2021-04-27 21:15

the physics are a bit janky, and so is the shooting, but is overal nice.

wartronic 2021-04-27 21:24

@gentlemelon01 i wanted to have physics based projectiles... too bad the janky unity physics are tied into it...

zelberor 2021-04-27 21:32

Woa! Just saw that we already have over 20 ratings. Thank you so much for playing. Also thanks for all the feedback, we will update the game in the next days :)

zelberor 2021-04-27 23:02

@Cal The video was really helpful. Thank you

raffe 2021-04-27 23:46

Felt like that this was a super fun mashing enemies game here! Obviously it missed sound effects and music which would have made the game a lot better and immersive overall, but still pulled off a nice one. Graphics were simple and you guys had nice textures on the 3D models. Powerups worked quite well, the lightning one was easily my favorite as I could just rapid fire them motor saws :D

Movement was decent, at some times it would have been fun if the movement had also worked consistantly mid-air, but that was still good enough! A restart keybind would have also been cool haha. The enemies would also sometimes get stuck on their places as we kept getting downwards, but I activated them by going beneath them somehow lol. Which brings me to the theme, which was amazingly done!

No other things to say than nailed it with going deeper and deeper 8) Nice entry guys, definetely kept me playing!

wartronic 2021-04-27 23:49

Hey @raffe, thanks for Feedback! For Sound, sorry we do noit know anyone who might do sound for us... and 31 ist definitly a nice result for the first try!

binaryprinciple 2021-04-28 02:37

The models are very cool and the endless fall shooter is a nice idea! I just felt that sometimes my gun was not causing enough damage, and the mouse was really floaty. Still I enjoyed my time and I can see potential.

jujuformatic 2021-04-28 07:38

Good game, realy fun but a little too repetitive, nice idea to destroy crates to damage ennemies :)

psv-games-studio 2021-04-28 14:25

Hi, I like your game, it has a nice and fun mechanics, but it lacks a little polish. Nothing that a second version does not correct, very good game!

hugimugi7 2021-04-29 13:45

It was quite easy to dodge the enemies, but the bullets felt weak when multiple rounds were needed in order to kill even one enemy. My two biggest minuses are the lack of any audio and way too many boxes everywhere (literally hundreds). Also more variety for the floors might have made the game more interesting. Good job finishing the jam, it's always a feat to make it on time! 😃
