Can confirm, the link is not working. Be sure to have the project in PUBLIC (not in draft or restricted mode).
@Prostone Thank you for telling me about the draft thing I had completely missed that. Edit @yupasama I probably should have tested out itch.io before doing the ludum dare thing
This is a really neat idea for a game! Had a good time playing, the voice sound effects were great and the graphics were pretty good. A bit confused on how it relates to the theme though. It took me a bit to actually figure out how to play but overall, nice game with a lot of potential.
Takes a while to figure out, but interesting idea. Narrator brings a lot to the presentation.
This is pretty unique, and it's always nice to see a bit of voice acting in the scope of a Ludum Dare too.
It took me a while to figure out how all the rules worked. It didn't occur to me initially that the words had to make some sort of sense in addition to following the beginning/middle/ending rules. Once I figured it out the puzzles were pretty easy, but I can see how it might be fleshed out into a deeper puzzle game which is cool.
An interesting idea, there would still be more levels.
@Volkolak I ran out of time sadly. The original idea I was gonna introduce RED spells which were going to have tangible effects on the world - like say a fireball that would explode obstacles. We don't get scored on intentions though.
That was a fun little demo. I could see this expanded such that you can create and cast all kinds of silly spells, which would be tons of fun. As it was, I enjoyed seeing what the spells wound up being. The VO was crisp and clear - I know it's not easy to do that, so well done!
Voice acting was very nice, tragically the game itself was a bit too short.
Aw that was a great little demo. Once I got the hang of it, the game was over :( Really loved that. I hope you work on this again after the jam, it definitely has some promise!
A good idea although I had trouble understanding at first... Good luck with the rest!
I like the idea very much. It's a fun game, but i don't really see how it fits the theme.
This was a fun puzzle game. I think the gameplay foundations for the game were very solid, but the levels felt like an introduction to the concept, instead of the full game. The voice acting was great, and the graphics were solid. Very fun concept!
Pretty interesting! I agree with the others that it was difficult to understand what was going on at first, and doesn't seem to relate to the them much. I really liked the voice, I don't know if it was your own voice or a computer generated voice but it worked really well nonetheless.
Great little game, and incredibly polished too! Hope you keep working on this!
@holy-doggo01 @beeguy In the original idea there was gonna be a meter in the game that relates how stable your spells were but I didn't have time to dive into that and I just turned bad spells into instant game overs instead.
That was really fun! Although it was slightly difficult to figure out, I managed to understand by the end. I think the difficulty of understanding comes from how many instructions there were -- this may have just been an issue with overscoping in the beginning, though, since you may have prepared for there to be more mechanics than you wound up with (for example, the number of mantra never mattered to me -- I only focused on picking the words up in the right order). Having fewer mechanics worked in your favor since the current mechanics are simpler to understand. The length was perfect for a game jam game, except that the only level that takes full advantage of your mechanics is the final one. It was very fun and I am happy to have played it. Great job!
Fun game! Great voice acting!
Very innovating! It's really fun to play. Loved the voice at the beggining! LOL
Really great game. The voice acting was a nice touch and I liked the game's humour. A little short but I understand that that was due to lack of time. Great work, can't wait to see what you guys make next.
Good execution)
I love the concept, though I think it would be better if there was a button to add a word to your spell rather than picking them up automatically (it would be a little more intuitive to be able to stand on a word than simply face it to verify what it is). The voicework was also worth a solid 5 stars in the Audio category all on its own. XD
I really hope you get a chance to finish this!
@ryusui Thank you. I did consider other systems for picking up spells. The advantage of forcing the player to walk into them and auto pick them up is that I can design puzzles around spells Blocking your Path.
This was fun. Really solid concept and demo. Well done with the VO, that is super rare to see in a game jam.
Nice game - well done for your first LD! Great puzzle idea, made even better by the narration!
Short but sweet! The concept was cool, and the voice acting brought it all together!
Nice little puzzle game, I enjoyed it. I liked the narration. I managed to break the game though, on the level with multiple middle pieces if you eat everything but the last piece then collect the last piece and say it there is no way to finish the level or go back to the menu that I could find.
@validdark I think Eating can probably break any of the levels it features in I tried to introduce the Restart button at that point but it's easy to miss. (I'm glad you enjoyed my game up to that though)
I love a good old punny as the name, spell hehe. The screenshots and name made me first think it was going to be a typing game rather than a word puzzle game though. I beat the demo without understanding the insert mechanic so maybe more explanation is needed there?
Cool idea for a game but it was a bit confusing to get started. I don“t think I have seen voice acting before in a LD game. Nice entry and for me there is potential.
Hi,
I have to admit the game was a bit confusing at times. I really liked the narrative and the voice acting and I think once you get past the confusion the game is interesting.
Congrats on submitting!
Very unfinished so can't say much, but I like what you had going on with the UI like an old-school RPG. The formatting on some words like "MUST" with those lines on the top and bottom of the word was also cool. Nice DIY voice acting. The mechanics and their explanations are very hard to understand, but I think they're actually much simpler than you make them out to be. Shouldn't be talking about game elements like manta (mantra?) assuming the player already knows them, just define those clearly first, same with the different types of words. Also it's spelled fulfill not fulfil.
It was very strange. Please do not be offended by me! However, the idea is quite funny. I wish you the best of luck with this jam! The voice acting is very good)
