LD49 — Unstable

Router Runner by JustinMullin 2021-10-05T11:50:23Z

OOoh you made this for the Jam as well. I liked the movement/grid compromise. It was strangely relaxing for a game about rushing to plug things in the right place. My favourite symbol was the burger symbol.

Jingoku by Skyeward 2021-10-05T14:21:21Z

Wow this is cool as heck. The Jenga thing is a nice take on the Wario Ware style games. I did deliberately go out my way to make an unstable tower and I like that you could grab levels as it was falling. I wasn't great at the levels - I think some of them are a little fast.

Power Please by Justin Herrick 2021-10-04T23:31:32Z

more stability, more production. (I was also a little confused as to what was going on but I could plonk down building just fine and people seemed to like that until I lost. I will try to give t hem more power.

RIFT by Pavocado 2021-10-05T15:14:25Z

Good use of the theme in your puzzle platformer I like that it was more about timing that randomness. Kept a certain amount of autonomy as everything was destabilising all around me.

I like the use of the minimalist graphics (although those vibrating blocks betray the pixel-iness of your game)

Crate-tris by gamezero 2021-10-07T20:49:41Z

Tilt! I got through the first few levels by aggressively going just for the middle but that did stop working as it picked up speed. I liked that it was just crates I found that amusing the whole gimmicked worked well enough but I'm not sure how long it can stay interesting without introducing something else to the arena.

Unsustainable by SaraJS 2021-10-04T23:01:13Z

Hello Shaun. It's kinda odd writing a rating for your game while you are on stream. The the game is pretty easy but I did enjoy the heck out of building bridges into the nowhere and hoping my dudes would follow along into the purple portal.

Shaky Ground by ryusui 2021-10-05T00:58:13Z

I got Minty to the first Goal and played a little bit further. I died a lot I didn't know about stopping time though I just saw that now. I wasn't sure where the sheep lady would land every time I jumped. I had a rough idea.

Hiding Heisenbugs by ultrarat 2021-10-09T15:43:42Z

So initially I misread the prompt and attempted to put all the bugs in places they would be visible. That was kinda on me. Once I figured out what I was actually supposed to do I found a fun but silly themed logic game which was neat.

Heat Death by zeta0134 2021-10-05T15:00:32Z

I like the dialogue and the level design the mechanics worked super well but there is a certain amount of standing around and doing nothing while you are waiting for entropy builds. Apart from that I thought it was great.

Lena & Tubs in: The Shattered Chateau by Matt Fabius 2021-10-05T12:43:21Z

Tubs is cute. As was the adventure which was short but the concept worked great. couldn't really see the theme. all the art and music involved is great.

Kalamari Damacy by rHornbek 2021-10-07T20:43:53Z

Oh no my stuff. My precious stuff. The little boat with all the stuff on felt nice and weighty and I liked seeing all the stuff move about. The mix of 2d and 3d worked well enough and I liked all the sea stuff in general to be honest.

Egg Barrage by Prostone 2021-10-04T23:23:44Z

I managed to defeat your egg game. Mostly by placing crates really close to the cannons. However it worked game was a fun distraction. Would protect precious egg again.

(PS thank you for tell me about my game being in draft mode on itch.io that was dumb of me and hopefully it is fixed now)

The Balancing of Hill House by yupasama 2021-10-04T23:35:01Z

Thank you for telling me that my link wasn't working. Testing your game now - will return with feedback.

The Balancing of Hill House by yupasama 2021-10-04T23:37:35Z

I see I was supposed to keep the house from tipping. But man I wanted to tip the house it was the first thing I wanted to do when I found out the option was available to me.

Things We Left Behind by Cubanfrog 2021-10-05T19:08:26Z

I left behind a single monument which seemed kinda poignant also I was kinda getting to grips with the game. This game clearly has a theme which I enjoyed by it didn't seem to be the theme of the ludum dare.

Re:Volt by mimusangel 2021-10-05T15:24:51Z

Won't lie I'm struggling to figure out what to do. I've made some guns and linked them to the middle bit but they get turned into scrap possible because things are destroying them but I can't tell. Not sure what I'm missing.

I like that you can go an an explore of the lands below - not sure if that was an intended experience but there is a surprisingly a lot down there.

Re:Volt by mimusangel 2021-10-05T15:52:42Z

@lukein @mimusangel I'll give this another go with this in mind.

Haywire by Firebelley 2021-10-05T19:14:22Z

Enjoyed the antics of the behatted man and his gun. I wasn't super keen on the gimmick until the boxes were introduces that forced the gun to fire if you got too close to them. Then it all sort of gelled together a lot better then. Even before then the silly gun antics were entertaining.

Should I Buy It ? by henriquecanella 2021-10-05T14:11:24Z

Wish I was this good at the markets in real life. Nice quick little clicker game. Wish the big dollar amounts had commas in. Also didn't like having to reclick everything every time.

There'll Be Hell To Play by Enya454 2021-10-06T19:03:46Z

Well this immediately stands out (in a good way) it was almost a shame to fight robot satan and lose all my questionable plushies. This was very silly and I enjoyed it a lot

Emily vs the Unstable Creatures by JPatchZ 2021-10-06T18:57:04Z

This is a very tall building indeed. I couldn't get the webapp to work but the download was fine. The art was very good and the story was cute. Being able to only go left and right (and shoot) felt a bit restricting reasonably quickly.

Dude Hardcore by jaaskeh 2021-10-04T23:29:05Z

Dude was indeed Hardcore. There was quite a lot of talking at the start for someone named Hardcore. I'd like to bust on in there and kick down doors. Like the heavy cannon ball explosive things you shoot they felt weighty.

Meltdown by LouieJams 2021-10-05T13:49:52Z

The art looked great and the concept worked well. Unstable sort of lends itself to "spinning plates" games and physics things. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the dude moved a little faster but it worked well enough.

MANIC MELTDOWN! by David Bohan 2021-10-06T18:45:31Z

The goo just kept calling to me. I was amused by the take on the theme. Took a couple of attempts but I got the lay of the land alright the controls felt like they could have been a little tighter but that kinda works into it's 90s radical devil may care attitude aesthetic. Had you put the engineer on a skate board well I'm not sure how stairs would of worked but other than that it wouldn't have been out of place.

STAR STRUGGLE by 730 2021-10-05T01:10:08Z

I've not played a lot of godot engine stuff. This has been my favourite thing I've played from the jam so far. What I really liked about it was that the loose cannon didn't feel random it's doing it's own thing because of the actions I took. Which is neat. Feels fair. Was still very difficult though. I didn't do amazingly well but I will try again. Gonna sleep first though.

The Great Derby by Geojax 2021-10-05T01:04:56Z

I'm not sure the horse appreciated the fireworks. It's 2am so this is the last game I'm testing before sleep. spinning plates type of deal.

A day in a life of an electric spaceship owner by spacecadet 2021-10-09T15:47:04Z

appreciated the intro and the music. all the artistic decisions worked well with each other. The game it's self was a spinning plates (or more accurately a put out the fires) kind of fair. there is room for growth but it's a fun idea.

Guests by Daddysucc5000 2021-10-05T15:37:30Z

Recognised your name from the ShaunJS streams. I am now minus one kidney and I not sure the creepy salesmen added any value to the house..

Loved the aesthetic by the way. Like the noise affect on the low res 3D works great.

Save the CORE by JKGames 2021-10-06T19:15:04Z

I like the hood up / hood down approach to the clicker/idleness but I would have liked more distractions as I was waiting for my options to open in general. I got to the debug menu but It gets very pricey at that point in terms of power. I see that max power option down there. Just how much power do they need?

Space Alconaut by Bassilij 2021-10-05T14:51:23Z

It most be lonely in space. I loved the voxel style models in the game. Especially those abbreviated arms. Thematically it all worked great. Series of fetch quests with your own character working against you. That said it was a bit frustrating to play as well have a certain amount of control taken away from. (I understand that is the point but still.)

Road to joy by arya-s 2021-10-05T12:26:48Z

I got trapped under the stairs as well. lol. Are got Piano Boy a few notes in aiming those jumps with the mouse its very difficult but it all works. Apparently Beethoven was considered unstable so I guess that's the theme there.

MISHIT by Holy_Doggo01 2021-10-05T19:02:41Z

So the first person shoot part of you game works great especially considering the time it took to make this and what people occasionally put on the internet for paid money. The whole unstable gun thing though I kinda ignored it. Not on purpose - I mean - the easiest way to deal with that was just to keep shooting and pretend it doesn't exist. They die eventually and I'm concentrating more on staying in cover. Interesting experiment though.

Wobble by BGDC 2021-10-05T13:36:01Z

Love the title screen. PErsonally I think that is a foolish place to build a block tower. Game looks and plays great by the way.

A Stable Job by UCSBDad 2021-10-05T14:33:30Z

Yay I won. :( I guess this is what the mood category is for lol. Music was great though and did the best job of illustrating what you were going for. Next time I'm gonna stay outside and let it rain money forever.

绝地天通(Babel Blocks) by ELITTK 2021-10-05T12:32:50Z

Aliens helped me get to a height of 21 but then completely destroyed my tower. :( Some of the interface was confusing but I did figure it out. Won't like when I saw unstable this kind of idea was the first thing I thought people would to though to be fair this is the first actual tower game I've encountered so far. Did enjoy.

Oudo by Tarek Creations 2021-10-05T12:39:59Z

So many aliens trapped in odd places. I got quite a few of them back into their ufos. Game works well. Puzzles are very simple at the beginning which makes sense but always have to contend with waiting for alien to get back into optimum position.

Uns' Table by ValidDark 2021-10-07T21:02:46Z

Very funny, immediately approachable and perhaps I just happen to be in the mood to be flipping tables with the strength of a (presumably) cow person. I probably would have preferred just a flat camera (i did try the experimental one but it was a bit odd) and in all honesty all the wonky physics just added to the mood of the game.

Limits by autumnalHeart 2021-10-07T20:55:56Z

Wanna mention first that I thought the game looked really good but I was really terribly at distinguishing between what was a wall and what was the play space. Liked the gimmick of the game with the different laws I also would have liked a button that cycled between them. wasn't sure what the game had to do with unstable.

Escape from planet Shaduk by fishtaod 2021-10-05T14:28:45Z

I got the duck into space. I wasn't 100% sure of the rules. I sort of understood that if I click directions the bird would turn and stomp but I was never certain of the result I would make. Also I wish it could have been a little snappier but there is certainly something here.

Cargo Frog by Kobrasadetin 2021-10-05T15:06:56Z

I didn't notice the rope dangly thing at first there is a bit of the game where you just yeet explosive barrels at your ship for some reason. (I did figure out eventually) Unstable sort of lends itself to physics games but I think you did something interesting with it. Twas fun.

A Spelling Error by Naymsayk 2021-10-04T23:17:27Z

@Prostone Thank you for telling me about the draft thing I had completely missed that. Edit @yupasama I probably should have tested out itch.io before doing the ludum dare thing

A Spelling Error by Naymsayk 2021-10-05T14:35:23Z

@Volkolak I ran out of time sadly. The original idea I was gonna introduce RED spells which were going to have tangible effects on the world - like say a fireball that would explode obstacles. We don't get scored on intentions though.

A Spelling Error by Naymsayk 2021-10-05T17:35:41Z

@holy-doggo01 @beeguy In the original idea there was gonna be a meter in the game that relates how stable your spells were but I didn't have time to dive into that and I just turned bad spells into instant game overs instead.

A Spelling Error by Naymsayk 2021-10-06T22:29:08Z

@ryusui Thank you. I did consider other systems for picking up spells. The advantage of forcing the player to walk into them and auto pick them up is that I can design puzzles around spells Blocking your Path.

A Spelling Error by Naymsayk 2021-10-07T21:05:12Z

@validdark I think Eating can probably break any of the levels it features in I tried to introduce the Restart button at that point but it's easy to miss. (I'm glad you enjoyed my game up to that though)

DerangeDoodle by EstevaoGraciano 2021-10-04T22:50:12Z

The scribbles are angry at me. Possibly because I keep walking into the fire. I thought this looked great by the way. Not 100% sure what to do but I am quite tired from programming for a few days straight and this was the first thing I tried.

Shaky Shapes by joaosilva22 2021-10-05T19:20:08Z

so obviously the theme unstable lends itself to physics games but this, i think, was a really unique take a little addictive even. I'd like more but I'm also not sure how you would add more without it losing its charm.

CONTROLL by kartiz0l 2021-10-05T20:11:39Z

Oh I was bad at this. Looked great by the well and it controlled well enough aside from the gimmick which I was not keen on. It's clearly the point being the unstable element I just was really bad at compensating for it. The game around that seemed to work really well.

Roscharch by Casa Ocho 2021-10-05T01:00:59Z

That mirror has a lot to answer for. I was curious if anyone would take the unstable theme in a personal sense.
