The art was really nice and the shop functioned really well, I can see this as a mobile game (if someone bumps into me while playing I swear I'll punch them), a lack of controls makes it a bit difficult to figure out how to actually put blocks down, but other than that its a fun challenge!
Great art, and the news blow are really fun :D
btw, how to continue game when i pressed F? Can I buy block again after game started?
@dcy11011 Hi dcy11011! I am sorry that our introduction was not detailed enough, and it has been supplemented ;) After press F, you can start experience the disaster. After a round of disasters, if the height of the building reach the goal height, the total money will raise and you can buy bricks. If not, it means that the height of the building can't reach the goal, you need to restart the game(press the button in the wooden bulletin board)
The fun facts throughout were great, I do love building block games. Would have been nice to see a way to earn money after you start so you can continue to build.
@osh-studio Hi osh-studio, after a round of disasters, if the height of the building reach the goal height, the total money will raise and you can buy bricks to build;)
Hello everyone here, thank you for your advices and questions. I am one of the author of the game. It seems like we need to introduce our game rules more clearly.
After building the tower, you can press start to start the game.
After pressing the start, nothing will happen because we want you have time to read our interesting news. **Then you need Press F** to call challenge, ** One Challenge One Press **, sometimes you will meet safe event , after all challenges in a round, the shop pannel will turn on and you can build your tower again!!!
I like the art style. However I could not drag the bricks onto the screen :(
I would love to have the shop somehow integrated in the main interface
Nice art style! It looks like it could be a mobile game
@hilkojj I am sorry that we didn't tell the game rules in detail. When you tap the block beside, the will be a corresponding block place on the game scene. And you can only drag the bricks you used in this round before you tap the "START". Thank you for your feedback, we will update our introduction, hope you can enjoy the game.
Nice work!
Nice game!
Aliens helped me get to a height of 21 but then completely destroyed my tower. :( Some of the interface was confusing but I did figure it out. Won't like when I saw unstable this kind of idea was the first thing I thought people would to though to be fair this is the first actual tower game I've encountered so far. Did enjoy.
Unfortunately I did not have enough patience to play it, but it looks kinda nice.
Took me a bit of time to understand how to play but I like the idea
A fun unique game, I wasn't always sure what the goal height was, but it was enjoyable to play :)
God, a tutorial would be nice. I was really confused about how to play at first. Other than that, a great entry!
This game is very smooth! I love the animations and the UI elements -- they are both super polished and crisp! The concept is very interesting as well! Great work :)
@hilkojj Meet the same problem, I cannot drag blocks into screen when I use html5 version.
It was interesting and fun to play.
@Zeit Hi Zeit, sorry for that problem. You can click the block, then the bricks will appera in the left(not in the block) and you can drag them. Notice that you can only drag and build them **before you click START button**
This game took me a few tries to understand. I get that with the time crunch, your focus was on the game. That said, I think this game would benefit greatly from more information on its Itch IO page as it seems like there's a lot of confusion.
To my understanding, the game works like this:
- You start by going to the shop and buying blocks. - Click on blocks to spawn them from your inventory, then place them in the scene. Blocks can't be changed after starting the round, so choose carefully! - Click Start to properly start the game. Do NOT click the Refresh arrow as it will erase all progress and start over. - Press F until you are allowed to build again. Your tower will have to withstand disasters-- anything ranging from an off-the-charts earthquake to a book not being very good. Some will barely leave a scratch, and others will tear everything you've worked for apart in an instant. - If your tower survived past the goal mark, the HUD displays a Start and Shop button again. Shop and build! Your existing tower can't be touched, but you need to keep building upwards with new parts.
My biggest complaint is the fact that the Reset button makes it too easy to completely undo your progress-- I would recommend moving it somewhere else as I click on it intending to shop only to wipe my progress away. Otherwise, I would have liked the ability to rotate blocks as some of the blocks seem like they're designed to fit others.
All in all, it's a fun little prototype with nice art and I got a good laugh out of the events-- the UFO one definitely caught me off guard. Great work!
@anchorlight Thanks for your comment! This will be very helpful for our future work. Thank you!
It's true that our guidance work is not perfect, too many features and mechanics are not presented intuitively, leaving many people at a loss when they first start playing our game. Then we tried to modify the UI but it didn't work, and it was still confusing
I thought maybe it would be nice to have some music as a cue, maybe there wouldn't be a "Why can't I build? Why don't I press F?"The problem. We are sorry that we failed to add this feature (including rotating bricks) due to the lack of time. There is still a lot of room for this game, and our team hopes to continue to improve this game and do better in the future!
@guinytime This is LD, the cutting room floor is basically the whole building here.
Congratulations on shipping a game! I look forward to seeing what your team does next.
It found it a little bit hard to understand with a lack of guidance but the design is really well made and I think the overall idea is good :)
It's a fun little physics game! Too bad the controls are hard to understand at the beginning but otherwise as soon as I managed to place the first blocks the game was fun, the announcement at the bottom is a nice touch and the art is lovely! Congrats!
It's a bit difficult to understand how to play at first, but after, it's a really funny game ! I love graphics too :)
Building your structure and then watching how the disaster affects it is really fun! Took a little bit to figure out how to play, but it all made sense pretty quickly. I especially like how unique the disasters are, like the tractor beam. Having different avaliability of building materials every round also makes things interesting. Nice work!
The style is pretty great, and the confrontation disaster setting is pretty interesting. The news does have a haha point. It feels better if it has more impact on the level Also, I wish there is a weather forecast. I wish I could have some hints about what will happen next, and I hope there are more mechanisms to counteract disasters, too.
Interaction also may need to be improved, for example. - Level procedure is not clear. I can only understand the rules by reading comments. Suggest there is a timeline-like UI for instruction (like [Step 1-build][Step 2-disaster][Step 3-rebuild][...]) - Put the construction UI in the main scene instead of sub-menu to make playing more efficient - Most games have the plus sign on the right, I don't know why yours is on the left
Nice game. :) Congratulation!
@cloudlunar Thank you for your advice! In fact, when you press F, the news will appear the following event, and the event will come two seconds later, but it is not easy to find because of the lack of sound prompt.
A lot of people reported that it was hard to get started, and it was really not considered at first. I didn't notice the "add" sign in shop before you metion it, sad about that..
Thank you for your advice! We strive for a better user experience for our future games
Your game is fun! Keep up and good luck!
nice game based the theme, It was only not really clear to me that you have to press on a item to spawn it and than start dragging it. Maybe it would have been more natural if you could just drag an item in the world instead of clicking and than dragging. Making them look like actual buttons could also help to make it more clear its a button instead of something you can drag.
Fun game, reminds me of the stuff I used to play after coming home from school. Once I figured everything out, I played for quite a long time, all it needs is a bit of polish and you've got something really great, well done!
Fun game, thematically accurate. Alternating between phases was a good idea, and the physics were well made.
Strengths : - Clear interface, pretty easy to play - Neat graphics - Fun physics simulation
Possible improvements : - The field was maybe a bit too large for the number of building blocks that you have, at least at the start.
Great job !
@timo-strating Thanks for your feedback! At first, the idea was to click a button and then drag it, but when we started programming, we found that the generated blocks would be blocked by the UI, so we used the design of clicking on the interface and dragging. In fact, the occlusion problem was fixed later, but we didn't have time to restore the previous design, which was a pity
@jlv Thanks for your feedback! We made the bricks small because we thought players would build the building too high. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to start focusing on the bottom of the field and then magnified the view when you build more bricks!
Really interesting idea and game. I love the variety of the disasters and the physics are well implemented. But I agree with some of the other comments, that there could have been better instructions and feedback what's happening, it took me a bit to understand what I had to do. A howling wind sound effect would have been very fitting as well. But still a great submission and with a bit more polish, it could be a great mobile or simple PC game.
I like the idea of the game, but to be honest, I didn't understand how to get paid. If the idea was developed a little, it seems to me that a very pleasant project would come out. The graphics are not too complicated, but generally nice.
@muros If the height of the building(it will show in the right buttom) reach the goal height(the 'G' sign up in the screen), you will get some money! Thank you for your playing ;)
I had a really hard time understanding how this game works =/ I could not drag bricks into the scene
Love the concept- a lot of fun after I figured out what to do. Don't super understand why the pieces that are harder to use are more expensive, that seems a bit counterintuitive. Like the x one- or can you rotate them somehow? Sometimes they didn't nest into each other like they seem they should. Didn't understand the rules behind how you get paid for them either or what the colored dots mean. A great game overall though! The news bar is a cute detail.
Very nice game and art! Good job!
As others have said a little bit hard to understand at first, but after checking the comments it worked out. Fun concept, I love the flavour text for the disasters!
Great job!
Nice idea but I had trouble understanding the rule first.(我的游戏好多人一开始也不知道怎么玩2333)
@thiago-nascimento Hi, maybe you can check the comments, some people have the same question:). You can click the block, then the bricks will appera in the left(not in the block) and you can drag them. Notice that you can only drag and build them before you click **START** button
@pigeonliam I'm sorry we didn't make the rotate funtion because we con't have enough time, it's really hard to put a ball or a star in the right position. The colorful small point shows the durability of the brick, green means safe, and red means danger:)
Thanks all! Thank you for your like to our mini game :)
Instructions aren't clear on first read, very similar to my own game so it was interesting to see how someone tackled the same basic idea
I really liked the art style but understanding the gameplay was really hard. Yo can differentiate the interactable buttons somehow and block the palyer from starting the game before building. And I would like to see how many disaster have I gone through so that I can feel what level I am. Yeah a way to earn coins would longer the playtime. You can give the player some coins every turn the overcome all the disasters. Overall it just need some polishing and user testing :D
Really simple game with beautiful art style would love if there was a tutorial at the start but still a really fun game and suits the theme perfectly!
I love the artwork, and the news reel at the bottom made the game really charming. I think making the block take up a bit more of the screen could help, the space to place them was huge but the blocks were so small.
The disasters were a cool idea! And I love how some of the disasters had visuals, like the rain! Cool game. Great work!
Nice game loop, and I like how you display the block health on each block. The interface and turn stages could be streamlined a bit. For instance, you could have the left bar be the shop, and when you drag a piece that you can afford out of it, you pay its cost automatically. Great work!
Hey, really thank all :D !!!!
Good art and concept. I especially liked the news announcements at the bottom. I do think it would be nice if blocks could be unlocked, or if achieving a certain height let you buy more blocks. Overall, great game!
I too struggled a bit with the interface at first, but I worked it out eventually. It wasn't clear to me that pressing "F" multiple times was needed (I expected that it would run like a continuous simulation).
I enjoyed placing the blocks though. I feel like there's something really cool about building the a tower out of your imagination.
I'd have liked for the game to have escalated a bit more, like unlocking abilities with more height, like gluing blocks together. But I understand you had limited time!
My best tower eventually collapsed after its foundation gave way. It was a very sad moment for me.
