I really like the idea. The crowd is a bit unruly and hard to control but I guess that just adds another layer of realism ;) Overall I had quite some fun coming up with the strategy to attack Dome.

stoffe 2021-10-05 16:16

Fun game, like the gameplay a lot.

~~Found a little bug. All the police would directly fall back to the church and group up after defeating the first group of police. This allows the player to just throw a bunch of bombs on the group at the church and eliminate them all.~~ Never mind about the bug, only happened once out of multiple playthroughs.

Amazing idea! This fits the theme very well... The BGM is really nice. It's hard to select/order a single protestor, but moving them in masses feels very empowering! Great job!!

cubanfrog 2021-10-05 16:22

Quite fun idea for a game! Controlling the crowd was quite difficult and at some point I lost the ability to select units, but I still managed to beat the game. Combat between units was a little weird, as throwing molotovs seemed to be the best strategy for attacking opponents, but there were enough things to do to keep me entertained. The graphics for the game were simple and effective and the music was very fun. Good work with the game!

kimbsy 2021-10-05 16:22

Oh man this is great!

I was splitting up my forces, spreading through the streets looting everything I could. Small fights with the police started breaking out, I was using items to keep my smaller groups alive, it felt super intense!

Eventually amassed an unstoppable force, Vive la révolution!

blake-mullin 2021-10-05 16:25

Nice and simple, clear goal and easy controls. Molotov's are very strong and easy to find, if those were more rare it would be nice challenge. Great job!

vitor-nakama 2021-10-05 16:27

Very creative idea, the cotrollers are simple but efficient

felixwentzel 2021-10-05 16:28

@stoffe Im glad you enjoyed it! As for the bug report, it might be because of a mechannic. The police fall back when one of the group gets decimated. But as more members respawn and fill the group back up they should advance back outwards (towards their position in the beginning). Maybe you killed the whol group and they could not respawn in time before you came in to capture the dome ;) I will look into it tho, thank you!

betamorfosis 2021-10-05 16:29

The music was soo satisfying! I don't know why you opted out the "mood" category cause damn I felt like I was in the revolution in 1789 ahah. Loved it :)

felixwentzel 2021-10-05 16:35

@betamorfosis Well, i dont know why i opted out of it aswell! we didnt make the music ourselves, thats why I opted out. Probly was too tired to notice my mistake. Thank you for bringing my attention to it and glad you felt enjoyed the game! :)

edoardo-talamini 2021-10-05 16:52

Welp, I was not able to beat this game ahah. Really liked the concept, and never felt frustrating. Good job!

rumor 2021-10-05 17:00

Creative idea for an RTS-like (RTesque?) and excellent out-of-the-box use of theme. I like the use of real-world locale too! Strategically, I found it too easy to push all the enemies to the dome, where I could send in small molotov hit squads that did huge damage to the blue crowds with minimal casualties for myself. Managed to win on just my second try, so that's neat!

Also it seems like there's a bug where the cursor will get stuck indicating something like throwing even when I don't have anything selected, and it makes it difficult to select (or change my selection?) of items. If it's intended, I found it kind of confusing / hard to control.

felixwentzel 2021-10-05 17:09

@rumor Thanks for the bug report, we will also take a look at that. Glad you enjoyed the game aswell :) Your strategy sounds like you got some experience with RTS games :D

edoardo-talamini 2021-10-05 20:12

Ok, for some reason the first time I played the page was all messy and I could see the items so.... had to retry. (I essentially tried a no-item run lol) With the item it becomes cooler, and faaaar easier. As I said before, good job :)

rumor 2021-10-05 20:13

@felixwentzel Oh yeah, I'm kind of an expert at turtling against an AI opponent and building up my forces to unleash a big late-game swarm. :stuck_out_tongue:

funny game

alex-chertilin 2021-10-07 20:26

A rock is a weapon of proletariat!

ottodan 2021-10-07 20:30

Hey really great idea for the theme! I liked the guerilla vibes, would be nice if you make it a full game after the jam :)

ceetjeuhh 2021-10-07 20:42

Cool game! I really like the concept, would be fun with a few more items, and maybe multiple control points so you can get some real push and pull going with the police. It was already nice to see them moving around, made it feel more lively.

The molotovs are a bit too powerful given how the police cluster up right now, and maybe it would be cool to have looting be specific buildings rather than every single building in the city - makes each looting more satisfying and cuts down on busywork of sending your people everywhere.

felixwentzel 2021-10-07 20:50

@ceetjeuhh Ty for your feedback, glad you liked it :) We had planned to make molotovs damage over time and make police move away from the fire which would balance it, but real life crossed our plans there unfortunately. Definitely great points you mention, there is quite some potential in this game that we might explore!

malcolm 2021-10-07 21:03

Really interesting. Had a bit of a problem with clicking on the molotov buttons either not responding or immediately throwing the molotov where the button was. Many brave revolutionaries died. Also it was tricky to tell groups apart once police were injured and turn grey.

kora0h 2021-10-07 23:00

Very nice game. I like the concept and the music.I like this, I just like this.

maxds98 2021-10-08 18:40

Fresh Idea! Really liked music and sounds :) Special thanks for STABLE webgl build

caeonosphere 2021-10-09 08:35

Obligatory victory screenshot: ss.png

I thought I was done for when a bunch of police appeared out of nowhere right next to the dome, but I managed to spam right click the building and won with 2 units left. Molotovs OP!

alexthehuman2 2021-10-10 15:57

A wonderful immersive game, just that maybe implement a chance for a protester dying inside a big building like the actual dome for example because that's where the cops are reinforced. But yea, wonderful AI, one thing you could do is making a "deserter" AI for the protesters where if they are soloed out from the group, and they see a blue cop, they could desert the group instead and join them. Or vice versa where the police joins the protesters while being singled out. Overall, a very good job, well done on making it for this jam!

steve7411 2021-10-10 15:57

I like that you made a fun layout using only cubes; it was fun to play through

kantanloop 2021-10-10 19:50

Really fun game! Love the real-life inspiration for the map, and I enjoyed microing my protesters to loot every single house in the area, even though I probably didn't have to. The items are a great addition as well! Also I like how ALL the blue mobs react and regroup once you start messing with a few of them, that really made the game feel alive. My only minor complaint is that it's hard to differentiate my units from the enemy once everyone turns gray from damage. Fantastic work overall! I'd love to see this expanded.

felixwentzel 2021-10-10 20:09

@kantanloop Im very glad you liked the game! :) Since you and @malcolm touch on the same point: We made that decision to increase the chaos element during the fistfights. Looks like we overdone a little bit, but we will take your feedback into consideration if we develop this game further :)

kpded 2021-10-12 12:54

Very cool concept of a 'casual' strategy game! I like the core mechanics and music fits perfectly
