Nice artwork. I love how the story is coming out. The tower defense thing is also nice. The thing is the resolution is not scaling with my screen so the game got cut. I couldn't read the story very clean. But overal good game

Love the bittersweet tone, the sound of the cloud poping and the fact that ultimately you have to choose the inevitable sooner or later but it's your choice.
Touching. Nice job ♥
@tano Thanks for playing our game and for the bug report! I fixed the resolution scaling (Godot display settings can be confusing at times) to a post launch version, so this should hopefully not bother anyone anymore.
@pandore Thanks for your kind words!
amazing visuals, tunes and the totes emotes feels, but the TD gameplay didn't click for me, I think the two upgrade cycles before they become active towers along with the addition of new lanes made it pretty frustrating as a game... almost... like it was.. inevitable! waA?!?!
The artwork is super slick! I had no bugs for so far i coups tell. Resolution whas ok 👌
That was just beautiful in every way. Although the tower defense part isn't my favorite, the rest is so great that it really balances out.
Really nice art and music. The game feels very polished  Also, i see you, semi translucent icon.png ;)
I think Godot tried to create a full screen window using the wrong screen's resolution, which also stretched the image: 1.png It works when I unplug the portrait monitor.
I don't know if something is supposed to happen when you lose all your lives, however "nothing" matched prerry well with the goal of letting it go. That's a clever fit for the theme!
It's not a fun game but a good narrative one.
Nice graphics and moodiest game so far!
A mellow tower-defense game, that's certainly new. Took me a minute to figure out how to actually place the towers, but overall this was presented quite nicely. Good job!
Very unique experience. The art and music is beautiful But the tower defense gameplay is a little wonky. The difficulty ramps up way too quickly for the amount of towers you can place and the new paths that open up are just unfair.
But obviously the tower defense is just part of the experience, and the difficulty does fit the theme and encourage the player to just let go. So as a whole the experience works very well and is surprisingly polished for a jam game.
Beautiful and very polished game!
I mean I make narrative game because I can't make "actual" games but you make them because you are good at it! Well done! True ludonarrative harmony!
Excellent little game. Lovely art direction (graphics as well as sound design), with an excellent overall mood. Pack the whole with a simple but efficient gameplay and you have a great entry. I really loved playing your game, gg!
I love the art style it's really emotive, great job!
No words, only admiration!
The gameplay could be expanded upon, but there's a pretty good depth of strategy there already. Also, the music is lovely; it matches the narrative's themes to a tee.
Man, I really wanted to play this but the game hung on the godot screen and then crashed the system. I tried again but it happened again. I'm trying on ubuntu, for what it's worth.
I like the art style for the cover art. Reminds me of lo-fi girl and made me think we have similar taste in music. If my intuition was right and we have similar music tastes, you might like the music I made for my game (there's two, one for the title screen and one for the main game once you click through and start playing).
Edit: would you consider uploading a playthrough on youtube? I'd love to watch.
@daniel-username Thanks for your comment! We actually have an HTML version linked on the itch.io page -- for some reason, our Ludum Dare page isn't updating with the link. Lo-Fi Girl was indeed one of our inspirations!
Edit: The page seems to have updated with the link now!
@cubanfrog Thank you! I really enjoyed it. Great art and sound and concept.
Letting go is really hard sometimes. Nice idea for Jam!
Nice moody game with a bold theme.
It's definitely not too ambitious and that allowed you to really polish the end result. Gameplay wasn't really fun but enjoyable enough to get to the end and convey the message.
Solid overall, congratz !
chill game to come back from work from
Really loved the artwork and the music. This is a super interesting way to interpret the theme as well. I feel like this came together and is a remarkably polished and complete piece. You should be super proud of this - I hope you are. Congrats on finishing!
And thank you for playing and rating The Apocawiz. I really appreciate it.
Amazing game with an unique take on the theme, the art was top notch too. It's rare to see serious games/games with serious themes done for the Ludum Dare but you nailed it, the mood and theme were both marvellous and unforgettable. Solid entry!
Really like the atmosphere and story you have created. I think some small animations on the character and background would make the scene more alive. The tower defence part is a little on the simpler side, but I still have plenty of fun.
Excellent graphics and art style, love the Mariya Takeuchi photo on the wall ;) It was quite relaxing to play, having more option for your defenses would have been great. Nice entry overall
The art is so lovely! I liked how the game evolved with extra routes, creating more vulnerability the longer you "hold on". An excellent portrayal of that situation.
Might be digging too deep here, but it actually reminds me a lot of what I've read (and experienced) about the concept of mindfulness, with the towers representing avoidance and suppression, while every round there's a button to accept the situation for what it is, even if that feels like "losing the game". Perhaps that was just my take, but regardless, it was quite thought provoking!
A very beautiful but sad tower defense. I love the aesthetics and the color palette chosen for this little gem.
graphics where very good , but I didn't get what to do , my towers don't build , maybe more details can be given , anyways good work !
Great mood in this game, I liked how the story goes. I was preparing myself to a more "tragic" end, I'm reassured :) Great use of the theme
A really sweet, simple game with a nice ending that harkens back to real life. I like how it all gets overwhelming by the end, somewhat. I would like more playability factor. It feels like I'm fighting a losing battle, but I lose too early if that makes sense? Still fun and my friends who really enjoy tower defense games are having a nice time!
Wow, glad I stubled on this one. A interesting but also at first weird combination, that makes more sense while you playing it. The graphics and music is fantastic, loved the mood they created in combination with the storytelling.
I love this! For a tower defense game this is one of the most creative ones I've ever ran into. I like how innovative it is and the story feels very sensitive as you try your best to do well in this game. This was a treat and I'm glad to have tried this game.
Thank you for also playing my team's game!
Bittersweet, can definitely relate. Feels really polished and well made. Purely from a gamplay perspective it's a little weird that you can go on despite it becoming impossibly difficult. Also the possibility to just let go at any time doesn't convince me. I think it would be really cool if you had to unlock it by playing well. Good entry, nice job!
I'm not sure if the game was *supposed* to end when you ran out of lives, but mine didn't. :stuck_out_tongue: Either way, I thought the premise was pretty interesting--played well into the theme that you could just keep holding on even though you knew that nothing was going to change and the ending was inevitable. Going back once I'd already played to the end and just letting go straight away at the beginning was fairly amusing too...
The economical use of a single piece of sparsely animated background art really helped to create an unhurried, but sad and isolated atmosphere, and it worked well with the music, so great job on the presentation front.
The dialogue between the various characters was engaging and I think you did a good job of defining each of their outlooks and quirks, especially given the limited amount of interaction with each one. I wasn't a massive fan of the tower defence gameplay, since it was a bit too simple, but I also don't think that it was supposed to be the main focus of the game either, so that didn't matter all too much to me in the end.
I always think it's a bit weird to say I "enjoyed" a game like this, but I'm certainly glad that I played it, so good work!
