great game but the gravity is just a little to strong
The game was interesting but I think it was a bit dark graphically making it difficult to get into it. And the music was a little harsh.
Felt great to play and control. And I like how useful all the items where, nothing felt disappointing to find. The theme and music weren't quite my taste, but overall really solid.
I liked it overall. The visuals were nice with the pixel art and the lighting. Sounds were good and the gameplay was pretty fun. I do think that 10 waves are a bit much without any enemy variety. I would have loved to see the boss (if there really is one) but after dying on wave 8 I didn't really feel like playing through it again. Also, there is an issue where sometimes the character won't jump when moving down a slope. I've had that problem before myself, but just something I figured I'd point out if you decide to keep working on it. Those things aside, I think it's a nice take on the theme and very well executed for just a 72-hour jam. Well done!
@pixelbrain Thanks for checking out my game!
My original intention was to have multiple enemies but I simply ran out of time. But I could easily reduce the amount of waves to make it a better experience. There is a boss instead of enemies on wave 10, but to be honest I’m not really that proud of it.
And about the slope issue, I noticed it at the last day and spent some time trying to fix it. I came up with a solution but that broke some other cases where you should have been able to jump, so I opted to not include that “fix”.
Again, thanks very much for playing my game and giving good feedback. I’ll be sure to check your submission out too!
I liked going through the house. The art style was good. Maybe include more weapons and levels. Good job!
Nice game, everything is really responsive and feels good to play. I couldn't tell if keeping the windows boarded up was helping or just extending the amount of time it took for the wave to bust in. Overall I think this was a nice entry, great work!
I like the art style and the 2d lighting system you used. The game feels really polished.
Really liked the art style and mood, game was sweet maybe a bit to fast. would have like some zqsd or arrow input
Very good entry! The graphics were a charming pixel art that really built the world. I liked the dark lighting with the sound and music being alright. The gameplay worked smoothly and involved strategy over luck.
Though the gameplay was well developed, it became a bit repetitive. A greater variety of enemy would have been a huge upgrade. I only got to wave 5 so there may have been more variety after that which I missed. I often had a lot of issues getting the shotgun to fire but... since none of the comments have mentioned it I'm willing to put this on my ineptitude. It was also unclear what boarding up windows really did beyond delaying the start of the game but I didn't do a lot of experiments on this.
I had fun with this one! Controls felt smooth, and it got pretty stressful when I was surrounded by skeletons, debating whether I should try to shoot them all or rush past them and board up a window to slow them down.
The waves moved a bit too slowly; there were a lot of times when I was basically standing around waiting for something to happen. I chose not to board up windows on some waves, just so things would move faster. It took so long to get to wave 8 that when I died there, I didn't feel like spending all that time again just to see the boss. Maybe I'll try again later.
Still, I enjoyed the time I spent on it, and would definitely play it again with some minor tweaks to speed things up. Great work!
Great game! Easy to control, suitable graphics and sounds and engaging game play. Definitely fits the theme. I played it a bunch of times.
Great game! I really love the mood created by the graphics and sound design. That said, I think the connection to the theme is a bit loose, although it's more than made up for by the unique gameplay. The only other critique I would have is the bugs- I understand it's made in 72 hours, and as such, some bugs are to be expected, but I could never get past the second wave without my player loosing all movement and shooting abilities. Overall though, I had a lot of fun, so good job!
very fun game, love the are, controls are nice, gravity seems like is does not have a cap. like it increases constantly until you reach ground. but its no biggy. good job
The story is nice, the level design is well thought and mixed with the graphics and gameplay it makes for a nice immersing experience. However, I think the balancing has a problem, the traps are almost useless as they only kill one enemy at a time and are rare, I did'nt really see the point in boarding the windows as they had to break it for the wave to end (maybe having an unboardable spawn point would make them more useful ? Like once you boarded everything you just have this one to watch) and bonuses were never timed correctly. And once you don't have any bullet left, the game just become avoiding enemies until you're lucky. It makes the rythm a little slow which is a shame because the gameplay is nice and killing the enemies is enjoyable and fun. Oh and the music is good but I don't know if it was a bug or something, but 100% of times there was a knocking sound coming from somewhere on the map that seemed "buggy" and would'nt stop playing.
Great game. The movement feels nice, with is not easy to achieve in platformer games. I also like the quick speed of the gameplay. The music and art style are simply awesome. Great job!
Really like the pixel art and lighting. The controls are nice and smooth.
@pordrack The knocking sound is when enemies try to break down boarded up windows. But maybe there was a bug that kept it looping.
The gameplay is good and the Level Design is well made! I just have some trouble with the loot mecanics who was very much luck base and push down the overall quality of the game... But the idea is fun and work (well, some times zombie or trap goes as flashspeed in the stiar , but that was more fun than inconvenient, so no problem)
@ribout-horace Thanks for playing my game. You are completely right, the drops are luck since they are RNG, I was going to make a system that changes drop weight based on demand (So if you're low on ammo, then more ammo will drop) like in Half-Life 2, but I was quickly approaching the Deadline before I got to implementing that. The stair accelerating things is also a known issue, I also didn't fix It due to time constraints (and it's kinda fun to lob traps down stairs at lightspeed).
