Loved the atmosphere and the audio!
Really like the aesthetic and feel of it! Finding the landmarks and exploring was really fun!
Very cool game. I enjoyed wandering around blasting aliens and finding landmarks. I did have a bit of bad luck at the beginning where the first direction I picked seem to have nothing in it for a good minute or two. Eventually I changed direction and found swarms of enemies and started to have more fun. I really liked how the stars you have as a background seem to have some level of parallax to them with some wizing by and some sitting seemingly static. Also you get points for your space ship looking like Spikes from Cowboy Bebop.
@thatmanrobin thank you, I put a lot of effort into making the music and sound atmospheric.
@geniye thank you
@theseusinabottle yeah, I was worried about people getting lost and not finding anything. The coordinate system I added last minute just to give the player some orientation. I was hoping to add some sort of navigation system to point players in directions but ran out of time.
Glad you caught the reference to Cowboy Bebop. Probably spent more effort into making it look like Spike's space ship than I should have haha.
Superb dude!Loved the Graphics and sound!THe Gameplay is impecable.Would love to see this top the charts.Well Done Mate!This is WAY better than my game.
Nice atmosphere, thanks to the music and starry background!
Just so you know, text appears very small here, and there is a bug with the gun being stuck in the firing position when I Ctrl-Tab out of the game. Also movement feels a bit tedious, too slow maybe?
This game really captures the vastness of space. Very good visuals and audio aswell. My biggest complaint is that the gun overheats too quickly and cools down too slowly.
Wow, everything here works so great with one another! The mood and atmosphere generated by the graphics and audio really went a long way, and the gameplay felt super fluid, too! Awesome work on this entry! :D
Game play is really fun, mostly shooting and the feedback effect is cool. I loved the parallax effect of space. Did you use particle system for it? Other than that I was having problem reading the text they are so small. I'm not sure if it is because of my large screen. Anyway good job.
It's really easy to get lost, if you didn't have posted the coordinates I would just wander around and maybe found something. But The stars are awesome, as is the music. And the combat is very nice.
@lakshyaisagod thanks
@vaincil glad you enjoyed the music, it was really important for me to get it right to set the mood.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the text, didn't have time to test it for other resolutions to find something to fit properly. I accidentally found the bug that makes your gun get stuck firing too.
I think the movement feels a little slow as well. Might need to add another layer of parallax effects to give the player a better feeling. Its hard to tell how fast you are moving when there are no other objects on screen other than the stars.
@asdehielo thanks, glad you got a sense of vastness from playing. I wanted to add more landmarks to explore that would have been further apart, but I ran out of time.
I added the gun overheating pretty last minute. Before you could just shoot forever and it felt too easy. Balance was hard to get right. Thanks for the feedback.
@icoso thanks for the compliments. Really wanted players to feel the atmospheric mood, so it means a lot to hear people enjoying it.
@abu-sabiq-mahdi thanks.
The parallax effect is 3 layered sprites. The texture on the sprite is repeated. And to produce movement the texture is offset by the players position, direction, and speed multiplied my a factor depending on how "far" it is away from the player.
Sorry about the text size. I didn't have time to test on multiple resolutions.
@rafabriet I was hoping players would just wander around lol.
I wanted to have a lot more landmark locations to find, so no matter which way you went you would eventually find something. My vision was to have each player have sort of a different experience just heading out into space and finding something different.
Of course time didn't allow for it so the coordinates were a last ditch effort to give players something to find.
Thanks for playing.
@tengusheath Right, I didn’t even realise the speed is completely dependent on the parallax effect when there are no objects in the screen!
Love the animations. Them coordinates should be in the game. I noticed it when I want to rate and got back and tried again. And then I was watching too close to the coordinates and got a jumpscare of those damn enemies with those cute grabling animations. Much better feeling than before.
The exploration-part of the game was hooking. I would have loved to explore even more, but the wide spaces were a bit too wide ;). I know that it's hard to put in that much content in a game jam, so that is not really a problem. It would be great to have more locations with little texts and information, maybe revealing a bit more about what happened here. I would really enjoy slowly exploring the history of the world this way. And just a little thing at the end: I almost overlooked the monolith, maybe make it stand out a bit more :)
Awessome game, cool sound, cool graphic!
Outstanding ! love the exploration part, the music is cool, the graphism too. the only negative is the size of space between coordinates/speed of the craft. but for a compo, outstanding !
Great game! Super atmospheric and I loved the music and graphics
this game is really nice
Ship and weapons feels almost "tactile", cool animations/sound/mechanics balance.
Gives strong impression about emptiness of space.
Coordinates though should probably be in game in some sort of navigator, maybe not exact location if that's too cheesy.
Oh wow the atmosphere is insane. The audio and the graphics supports it really well. Great game!
@mdotedot thanks for the feedback. I wanted to implement a navigation system to let players find locations in game but ran out of time. The coordinates system was a quick fix. Thanks for playing.
@fribolin thanks for playing. This was the exact idea I had for the game. I wanted to add some more locations to explore to discover the story of this universe.
@omaewander thanks for the compliments, glad you enjoyed it.
@vincent-abel-grimalt thanks for the feedback.
@rawb thanks for the compliments, glad you enjoyed the atmosphere.
@nyanpierre thank you for the compliment and playing
@t90 thanks, glad you enjoyed the feedback from the gun, I wanted the shooting to bring you into the atmosphere just as much as the music and setting.
I agree the game needed a navigation system in game. Just ran out of time to implement something.
@mharitsnf thank you so much for the compliments, glad you enjoyed the atmosphere.
Nice game. Really felt like I was lost in space. Maybe add some ingame hints on which direction to go?
Game is indeed very atmospheric. Played it for about 10 minutes enjoying the ambient and the general look of the space. Would have played much longer honestly if it had something to do during the search for the planets. It would be great if it had some kind of direction pointers to the nearest places of interest at the edge of the screen, cause I could find only Arrakis while playing. But the atmosphere is really good. Good job.
Space is big. Perhaps a minimap? great audio
You nailed the atmosphere , visuals and music. How would you communicate where to go to the player if you were to do a longer version?
The mood of the atmosphere is really great, it was very "thrilly" to find the coorinates for the planets. a really nice game overall. loved it!
This was a really fantastic atmospheric experience. I really loved the parallax effect of the stars and nebulae as you fly around. The sound design was superb as well. The ambient music and the little beeps from the warnings went so well together. If there were some more guidance about where to go and what to do it would be a really great game.
Some incredible atmosphere in this one. I really appreciated the sound design and how much negative space there was. I really would have appreciated a kind of narrative threading each location together with some navigational prompts like arrows or a mini-map as others have said. Over all, the game felt a bit thin, but a great start to something bigger perhaps? thanks for the game!
Audio and the parallax stars are a nice touch! It's very satisfying to shoot those little critters, just wish there was more to do. Great start for a jam game though!
The music is great. Fits perfectly to the endless space, but the gameplay didn't catch me. There is an awesome atmosphere, but I got lost and would have needed some navigation like the other said.
Amazing. Really well done mate. The music is great, the art is fantastic. I loved the overheat mechanic, the only thing that I didnt like was that I kept exploring and couldnt find anything, maybe a minimap or something similar would have made the game more fun. Great work!
I love the atmosphere of this game, great visuals and audio! When I first started the game and defeated the mob closest to you, the gun kept overheating, even if I wasn't using it for a while. After I restarted the game, it didn't happen again. I enjoyed exploring space and fighting the monsters, even though they were very difficult to hit when moving because they are so small! Great job!
Nice graphics and sound, I've got lost since the start and I used the coordinates, a pointer or in-game coordinates would have helped. There was a little bug in fullscreen mode, sometimes the screen was turning black. Overall nice game!
very enjoyable, with more landmarks to find it would be really good.
Absolutely phenomenal game! As others have sound the sound is absolutely spot on and really nails that sort of lonely deep space vibe. The star parallax and the nebula clouds look really cool too.
There's also something delightfully creepy about the aliens sort of arcing round to chase you rather than being able to just turn on the spot. Really liked this!
Love the atmosphere of this game! The small space ship and gun temperature mechanic make you feel super vulnerable.
Space is too damn deep!
Cool entry, the danger bipping became tedious so I stopped my exploration before really finding landmarks. I understand from you answer to comments that you wanted any direction to have landmark. Maybe have the landmark generate offscreen based on the radius of the exploration. So any direction is equally interesting ( you could add an amount of variation, based on the angle or pure random, to add to the repliability... ) that said, I am keeping that idea for my next compo.
the *Atmosphere* is very neat.
really liked the core gameplay loop of flying and shooting. However, It feels like there is so much empty space with not much to do and at the start im not really sure which direction to go or what to do. A bit more direction would have been nice.
good game
I'm a big fan of the zoomed out space ship style. Perhaps an option to even zoom out more to get bearings would've been a neat little feature. Either way, great job!
Great entry. Very atmospheric. I liked the exploration part, but without the hints you are basically lost in an endless world. Maybe if we had some kind of objectives with hints in the game it would be even more hooking. Overall great job.
Really atmospheric vibe and lovely music with a mechanic that could be fun, but unfortunately it feels empty and difficult to find things, also the text is small. But otherwise a very charming game with nice visuals!
Loved the look and feel of the game, but quickly found myself looking up the spoilers for the landmarks after drifting for a few minutes without finding anything. Really enjoying the music and the SFX as well!
Really cool atmosphere and feel here. I love going DEEP SPACE with the Deeper theme. I like how open it is, no goals but to explore and feel the mood. To me that adds that additional layer of DEEEPER. It is just you out in space with nothing but a ship and your thoughts....
I really liked the background stars, so simple but parallax makes it all beautiful.
Lastly, any chance to fly the Swordfish and visit Dune is a win in my book. Great job on the game!
Super cool game especially given this was for a game jam! Enjoyed roaming around, the mechanics all seemed super solid, and generally there was a good amount of polish. I did end up just checking the coordinates, but still I enjoyed roaming around on my own accord for a good long while. Well done!
@minibetrayal thanks for playing. Yeah definitely some sort of navigation was needed.
@trabitboy thanks for playing and the compliments. My original intent was to let players discover things on their own, but have enough stuff in the game that no matter which way you went you would eventually find something and in a way each player would have a unique experience.
@sthealthinator thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed discovering something in game. That was I was hoping players would be able to do.
@bentglasstube thank you for the kind words and playing
@adamcyounis thanks again for playing on stream, was fun to see someone and chat react to it in real time
@bigbadbison thanks for playing, I wish I could have put more into the game to do as well. I had plans to add a few more planets, an asteroid belt, and a black hole. But the art and music just took too long to finish in 48 hours.
@mighty-mufflon-games thanks for playing, I definitely needed to add a navigation system for players.
@kitsomo thank you for playing
@last-angle thanks for playing, I'll have to see if I can reproduce that bug you found.
@axeltherabbit thanks for playing, sorry about the bug, I'll look into it to see if I can reproduce it.
@lakea thank you, I wish I could have added more to see.
@jhax thank you for the compliments and playing
@ishmandoo glad you enjoyed it
@dhim sorry about the danger beeping, I was hoping it wouldn't be too irritating and spent a lot of time tweaking the sound to try to get it right. I'll do some adjusting to make it less annoying.
Interesting suggestion about generating landmarks offscreen. I'll consider it if I continue the project.
@mikew thanks for playing, I'll definitely add some sort of navigation if the project continues
@xpycm thanks
@pookipoot I like that idea. Thanks for the suggestion
@sli thanks for playing
@pious thank you for playing, sorry about the text size, I didn't have time to test other resolutions.
@danny-sperling thanks for playing, glad you liked the sound and music
@systemeffect thank you, I took inspiration from a lot of science fiction and made it a little homage to the things I love. Nice to hear someone appreciate the references.
@chiyeon thank you, glad you enjoyed just roaming. Sorry I wasn't able to add enough in 48 hours to let you discover something on your own.
The sound design of the beeping sound is very nice. It's just that the alert could fade away. Like after 5s at a certain alert level the bip should stop until I lose hull again, or being close to combat for ex.
Great atmosphere, music make it greater, I had the feeling that no one could hear me scream! :) Good job.
Звезды, галактики, планеты - романтика! Что ждет нас в глубинах космоса? Злобные твари? Братья по разуму? Нечто неизвестное? Хорошая атмосферная игра! ^_^
I feel like the atmosphere and the UI/visuals are practically perfect. You hit a level of space theme and minimalism for the UI that I love! The sounds are great too. I agree with others that the map needs to be more full and maybe have directions, but that is a small gripe especially considering you were on limited time. Awesome job and nice Bebop reference ;)
Very vast play area. I ended up having to use the coordinates you provided to find the things. Wish there was more content, but I was satisfied with just flying around.
@mlho7 thanks for playing
@xpoho Спасибо
@millingmadly thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop reference
@sirred thanks for playing, hopefully I can continue the project and add more content.
The music created a cool mood that put me in the mind for some space travel. I like the idea of encountering and exploring unknown places and using coordinates to map out where you are, this could lead to some cool updates where there is so much stuff that users can share coordinates, kind of like a 2D No Man's Sky. I do wish the starry background was either brighter or more detailed to make it easier to tell if I was moving, sometimes it felt like the only way I knew if I was moving was seeing the coordinates tick up. The shooting felt great, though I wish the gun would cool down a lot faster. Otherwise this is a great game with a lot of promise!
Oehh the stereo sounds are very nice!
The shooting/combat feels pretty solid, I like that. The graphics are nice too. I somehow really like the paralaxing stars.
Btw.. On my screen the text is barely readable. Maybe you could consider that in your next entry :smile:
The gunplay is nice as smooth, so is the audio. Visual are simple but clear and readable. I wish there was more stuff happening between combat. like, planets for refueling, shipwrecks to scavage, finding upgrades for your ship etc. The easiest way to deal with the enemy, was to gather them all, wait till they form a nice line behind you and send a short burst to kill them all. offsetting them slightly (or make them collide with each other) and some healt/overheat balace would imo really add some challenge to the game.
I liked the mood of the game, being lost in space alone and even felt a bit afraid of what I could discover. I missed some kind of depth in the gameplay, like gathering resources or money, and buy some upgrades for the spaceship. Nice work :)
I like spaces theme and atmospheric music. I lost in space and tried to send signal with gun (using Morse code) :joy:
Very nice, love the mood and the combat feels good
The movement is really smooth and so is the shooting. I am glad you did put the coordinates up here in the summary because I ended up flying around for a couple minutes not finding anything at all
@nice-gear-games thanks for playing, that's exactly the idea I had in mind for exploration. Players would be able to discover something and share those coordinates online with other players to travel there as well.
I think my monitor brightness might be a little too high because I noticed the stars are not as bright on other devices as well.
@wouter52 thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the sound and graphics. Yeah, sorry about the text, I didn't have time to test for other resolutions, but I'll definitely keep the UI in mind next time.
@chrissx2 hey thanks for playing. I had thought about adding in refueling, buying ammunition, ship upgrades etc. But decided to keep the scope simple. If I plan to continue it will definitely be something I add in the future.
@youhou thanks, glad you enjoyed the mood. I wish I had more time to add depth to the game as well, but wanted to get the scope simple for the jam.
@ben-yazi hey thanks for playing
@halberd thank you very much
@goldenevolution thanks for playing, next time I'll give more in game direction so players don't get as lost as easily.
you added a lot of small details that really made this game nice. as an example, turning showed jets as it was spinning. the combat was a little meh. thanks for making it.
I've had a hard time getting what was the final aim of the game, but I believe it's just exploration, survival and getting rid of those pesky aliens :) The mood is super cool and the music fits the game soooo mcuh! Well done!
Great job making a game in a weekend! It looked like there was a message in the upper left corner that I should have been able to read but was it was not visible. I was also able to fire at most enemies from a distance before they triggered (easily picking them off). I didn't really have a direction other than to fly around. I saw after that you have put in a couple coordinates outside the game. I have a 4K monitor so maybe it was my resolution. It got a nice feel and audio though and I think it had potential with further iteration. Thanks!
@paulhocker thanks for playing
@tanis thank you for playing
@blockerz thanks
Cool game ! Good atmosphere, it really makes you want to explore space deeper and deeper. Good job :slight_smile:
Great art and setting. Would love to see more objectives and mechanics added to this. Well done.
I'm getting "2001: A Space Odyssey" vibes - it's the music :).
It's a seriously impressive solo job to do over a weekend! Controls feel polished and the ship flies very nicely. It would be great if there would be some scanner ability in the game, to provide some directions, as it's very easy to just get lost and fly through nothingness forever. After a bit of just flying around in the blackness of space, I just flew to the provided coordinates.
The swarming enemies are quite funny! But they are also quite easy to cheese from distance if you manage to stop outside their activation range.
The ship flickers strangely during movement. I'm unsure why.
Overall, I think you have a solid foundation here and a really strong compo entry.
Sci-fi tune sells it! Though, so hard to find encounters. Needs radar or something. Maybe, ship model could be bigger, but overall this game is a fine foundation to work with. Thanks for the atmosphere!
It's a good game concept, I think you can improve it by making sure the player has an objective and more things to do (fetch x, destroy y, refuel etc.). The graphics look nice. Overall your compo effort is very good. Keep it up!
@meta-link thank you
@fabula-rasa thank you for playing. 2001 was definitely an inspiration.
The ship flickering from movement is a bug. Its strange because it doesn't reproduce itself all the time, I'll have to do some more testing to figure out the cause.
@ardorugus thank you for playing and the suggestions.
@jose-bonilla thanks for playing, I'll definitely add some objectives if I continue the project
@rhoff95 thank you, I'd definitely be interested in continuing this project out and adding more mechanics.
Superb visual presentation and audio. I wanted to see what was at 0,0 but gave up. Randomly spawned pockets of aliens might help. Well done on a great compo entry.
Nice space graphic :smile: I like the rolling of star layers ; the mechine movement is awsome ! I like how it rotate and shooting ; some tips from me : add some goals so that make players know where to go :smile:
@super-hadoken thanks. I'm glad you gave up trying to find 0,0 you would have been disappointed lol
@olddog thanks for playing
I understand what you wanted to to with this space exploring concept ;) For a game jam I think that it would be nice to have some hints on where to search for objectives. I have quite the same concept : exploring in order to find the objectives ! The ^problem is that many people told me that it was not fun to guess where to find the objectives :/ But I understand what you did here.
I tried to find these alone but I was not able to find one x) It's good that you gived the locations in the game presentation :).
Good job overall ! (The game is fun BTW) ;)
The atmosphere/sound design work together really well to create a vibe here, well done! I admit that I flew around and took on a bunch of aliens but I didn't find any landmarks other than Terra at the start. Maybe a mechanic that would point you in the rough direction of a landmark without giving you exact coordinates could be a good balance of discoverability and accessibility. The text around the ship was a bit hard to read. I really liked the layers of stars and the visual effect there, good job!
Awesome work with the audio! It added so much to the atmosphere!
See You Space Cowboy
i like the atmosphere and the sfx! and i love your settings!
Very nice! The music is so fitting! Love the space ex concept. The gameplay was a little boring without the coordinates to check out that you provided. Font was a little small and hard to read.
A very calm and peaceful game. I like the space-mood that your game promotes. Gameplay is easy to learn. The graphics are good and the music is perfect. Congratulations.
Great game, I used to play it everyday and everynight! But now I only do a night or so, now I spend my saturday nights at bitcoin casinos online haha, the site is called TheLadyCrypto, you can check one of the games you can play here: thttps://www.theladycrypto.com/bitcoin-dice/. Give it a try and you may be earning some bitcoin!
I looked at the game and it seemed to me very interesting and exciting, thanks for the presentation. I am sure that many users will be able to play it because of its attractiveness and originality. I myself am ready to play it for hours and I think that it should be included in the Jennycasino.com online casino games portfolios best online casino https://jennycasino.com/top-rated-online-casinos/ .
