LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Mr. Cheeks Sweet Dreams by MrTroy 2020-10-06T20:12:56Z

Super cute game! I love the idea of a game being set within a hamsters nightmares!

SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE by Sheepolution 2020-10-07T13:25:22Z

I got 20 points, I'm not the best, but damn I'm still good

Etracyte by bentglasstube 2020-10-06T17:49:50Z

Great atmosphere, great to see such a refined custom engine in a jam game!

Set in Stone by Sn4pi 2020-10-08T21:00:53Z

This game looks and sounds great!! Love the minimalist HUD and the setting and background!

Rad Boar Rewind by alexrose 2020-10-07T13:56:23Z

Great puzzles, and a great setting of world and character, can't wait to see what Rad Boar Rewind gets up to next!

Ludum War by oillen 2020-10-06T20:32:05Z

Very cool that you managed to get an rts system up and running in 72 hours. Also always nice to see a fellow gamer maker user, good job!

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-08T20:34:11Z

I think the controls are actually pretty useable, I think it's more so a case of how to explain it to the player, other than that, incredible jam entry, super unique concept, beautiful art, and even though it has a single line of dialogue, it's one of the funniest I've seen all jam!

Lights Out on Pluto by cad 2020-10-06T19:46:32Z

Great job at setting the scene of a scary space death, won't be hopping on any spaceships anytime soon!

Hyperloop hell by Aterlamia 2020-10-06T16:43:52Z

The art looks incredible, can't believe this is a compo entry!

GitGood Dungeon by Quoclon 2020-10-06T07:46:49Z

Looks great, focusing on looping through a single great looking dungeon room was a great way to find creativity, especially theme-relevant creativity, with the restrictions you have. Also have to give massive props to people who give the extra time to add sound to their game, it adds a whole level of game feel that's easy to forget about when you have developer tunnel vision. As for the bugs and general jank, I wouldn't say it stood out to me more than any other game jam, or any other full fledged indie project to be honest, so I think you're a little hard on yourself there, but a good amount of self-awareness and reflection does go a long way. Props to you and your cousin on your first collaboration together, I hope you continue to work with each other :)

Blind Faith by sohakes 2020-10-06T09:45:55Z

Incredible interpretation of the theme, having two differing and perfectly countering styles of gameplay is awesome for both pacing and story. The game also looks, plays, and sounds incredible! Great Job :D

The Loop by Enver Arco 2020-10-07T14:44:48Z

Really nice sound design, kept me entertained and calm the whole time I was solving the puzzles, great job!!

Evolooption by WiseClock 2020-10-06T07:56:12Z

Very polished infini-runner gameplay, and a fun history lesson at the same time! I really enjoyed using the year as your score, could definitely see this being my favourite game on the school computers back in the day. One thing I noticed is that once you reach the year 0, the positive pickups are only giving you a small amount of progress, whilst a single rat will send you back to ~4000 BC, and the constant swapping between graphically styles and player sprites can be a little jarring, either way, very fun game, nice voice over, and very impressive given the time constraints. :)

Stuck in a loop-Puzzle Game by Tayfun 2020-10-07T13:02:38Z

Lots of potential for more complex puzzles given more time, great Jam entry!

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-06T19:14:50Z

One of, if not the best looking game I've seen on this jam, so incredible to see what teams can do in such a short amount of time

Once More, Dear Friends by GibsS 2020-10-06T08:06:10Z

As someone else who interpreted the theme with clones of your past runs, I love this game, I already liked it when I thought it was just the ghosts following your movements, then when I realised that if you outlive them, they turn into turrets, a whole new level of tactics was available to me. The only thing I could recommend is taking some time to find good SFX to use, as they add game feel like nothing else, and I think it could especially heighten the sense of catharsis this game is so beautifully portraying! Would love to take about programming clones like this, and see how our methods differ!

Hyperloop by very dark lord 2020-10-06T10:19:04Z

Beautiful looking game, I'm in awe of the graphical detail you went to, things like the flashlight bouncing with the recoil, and the eerie way that colour works its magic in near pitch darkness. Also incredible having such a cinematic intro in a jam entry, good job everyone who worked on this game!

Light footsteps after the rain by Chocolat-Endive 2020-10-08T20:43:14Z

A great piece of interactive fiction, and a very unique way to deliver your story, especially using so many AI generated assets, the world and "event" you built had a very eerie nature to it, made the more eerie by the slightly less than human look of the faces, and their slightly robotic voices, you gave me enough to get me hooked, but just enough so that I left with a delighted intrigue. Great job!!

One Hit Wonder by Azemut 2020-10-06T09:22:51Z

Super nice look to this game, and a very clever choice of theme interpretation, good job :)

DISTORT by SuperGamersGames 2020-10-06T19:29:38Z

Awesome visual theme, and very fun and interesting level design! Good job

LoopChan by Kaish 2020-10-07T14:08:46Z

One of the best looking games I've seen all stream, Loopchan is super cute!

That NPC by wormius 2020-10-08T21:59:12Z

Great choice to have a dialogue tree that can loop back to different parts of the story!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-06T11:02:14Z

Couldn't really figure out when the game properly started, but I guess that's a testament to how in-theme it is, so congrats on what must have been a headache to program, I commend you!! Also the background music is incredibly relaxing with the typing and clicking background.

PRISON STATION O by xSooDx 2020-10-06T07:26:46Z

Super cool gameplay loop (pun intended I guess hahah) given more time to work on it, I think slowly introducing certain types of breaks to the player in the first minute or so of gameplay could do wonders in helping players keep their head above water, as it can be a tad overwhelming being dropped in with everything happening at once. Other than that, plays incredibly, looks clean and aesthetically pleasing, and doesn't ignore sound, which is something that tends to fall down the priority list during Jam Games. Good Job!! :)

LÖÖPS by Tamail 2020-10-06T17:00:08Z

Idle games are a rare sight in this jam, especially given the theme. Good Job!

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-06T10:51:22Z

This game is a masterclass in game feel, to be able to refine a jam project to be so aesthetically pleasing is a great accomplishment, good job :D

Planetary lunacy - a game about a satellite in space... by Jamie simpson 2020-10-06T18:47:31Z

Love the in-depth simulation of travelling in space, definitely going to continue observing space safely from the ground!

Vibe Shard by AploveStudio 2020-10-06T07:36:34Z

Amazing to see an interesting new rhythm game in this day and age, even more amazing to know it was made for a jam! Massive props, I love seeing low colour dithering pixel art used to simulate vector graphics, an awesome, unique look :)

Hangin' Around by Nocity 2020-10-06T18:03:31Z

Extremely polished aesthetic, already well refined loop I would love to see realised into a full, even more polished product!

Inter-Dimensional Monster Jumper by EvilScotsman 2020-10-06T09:35:35Z

Super impressive being able to program such in depth interaction between the clones, I especially enjoy being able to cap myself in the back of the head hahah, only thing I could potentially suggest is making a little more clear when and how the player can progress to the next level, otherwise, incredible job :)

Yes! by Dandala88 2020-10-08T20:51:36Z

Love the concept, heaps of potential, good job!

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-07T13:34:25Z

I could very easily get addicted to this! Don't you tempt me! I'll do it!

The Witch's Tower by SparklyRainbows 2020-10-06T10:33:13Z

Other than a few bugs on the occasional run, this game is super fun and refined, and the art and sound design helps package it all into a very entertaining time!

Untiled Runner Game by WatermelonAndMe 2020-10-06T10:09:59Z

Looks and sounds very fun and happy, only thing I can suggest is making it a little clearer to the player that they can double jump, took a few deaths before I realised I could

Car Looper by Snotax 2020-10-07T12:55:28Z

Good to see a puzzle game with open solutions!

Long dungeon by BorisFromMurmansk 2020-10-08T22:05:06Z

Super impressive making such streamlined squad-based mechanics for a jam entry, great job!

The Facility by Feiko 2020-10-06T10:25:40Z

Looks great, I like the way you've used coloured and varied lighting to enhance the looks of what could end up being very repetitive areas, due to the looping mechanics, the robotic voice that taunts/talks to you throughout is great for atmosphere as well!

The final loop by IndieQuest 2020-10-06T20:25:15Z

Great use of a minimalist style, really helps sell the "last bastion of humanity" thing, great job!

Co-Routine by MatchaFlavor 2020-10-06T10:42:58Z

Everything about this game is super cute, even down to not being able to neglect any of the cute robots and leave them on the same square for too long. Also the 3 colour clone mechanic is very similar to my entry, and it's super cool to see we interpreted the theme in similar ways, good job!!

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-06T10:58:17Z

Great Concept, A really good way of using artistic and story-telling ability to turn something like the game simon into a funny, wholesome, and engaging story!!

Glitch Lab by Sharked 2020-10-08T20:58:32Z

Cute graphics, and great idea. Only thing I would suggest is making the game over screen not wait as long before going back to the menu, it takes a few deaths to get the hang of the controls, but other than that, awesome entry!

Around by Feesh 2020-10-08T21:09:28Z

Great choice of aesthetic! The difficulty curve is also perfect, and introduces each puzzle element in a way where the player can tackle it with full knowledge, great job!

Escape from the Ferris Wheel by Adam Jewell 2020-10-06T08:51:33Z

Good to see someone still rocking AGS! fun and colourful game, and a very literal take on the theme, I like it :)

Loop's Way by Linetaru 2020-10-06T17:35:17Z

Loved it, glad to see such big teams working during a jam :)

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-05T23:39:42Z

Thanks heaps :) definitely would work on fleshing out a better "show, don't tell" kind of tutorial, had I the time

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T09:38:33Z

@adam-jewell Thank you so much!! I made sure to pay attention to the tutorial, since I knew it was a bit of a complicated concept, I'm so glad you managed to grasp it, and as a programmer primarily, I'm glad to know some creative choices aesthetically can help make up for not so perfect technical art skills. Thank you so much for your comment :)

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T11:38:44Z

@eevitt Thanks, it was all for your approval.

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T12:29:41Z

@shan.hsgames Yeah, the tutorial could definitely use better pacing and refining, but I'm glad you picked it up in the end :)

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T14:11:27Z

@wormius Glad you enjoyed it!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T18:33:00Z

@feesh yeah a full build would definitely benefit from some control refinement, glad you thought it was cool!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T18:33:31Z

@lectvs glad the hoop knight dev himself likes my game

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T20:34:45Z

@cad Thanks heaps :) Definitely feel like this is my most solid project mechanically!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T20:56:55Z

@borisfrommurmansk Thanks! I always think the music is one of the best things to portray tone, I hope I got the puzzles got your brain cogs turning!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T21:07:59Z

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-06T21:27:12Z

@vphyre Thanks!! I'm really happy with how well this jam entry stuck to the theme, I think it's some of my best work yet

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T06:50:03Z

@kevin-mooney thanks! A full version would definitely benefit from an extended tutorial

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T08:43:43Z

@kaganobik Glad you enjoyed! This is my first puzzle game, so I'm happy it worked out as well as it did.

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T09:36:38Z

@etrealjunior Thanks! I will definitely be checking out your game!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T09:42:41Z

@andidebob Thank you! I think the difficulty curve was really the thing that allowed players to understand the mechanics without being bogged down with exposition :)

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T09:43:13Z

@shyrro Thanks! I always think music really helps set the mood, I'm glad you liked it!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T14:46:37Z

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T15:38:09Z

@alarianngames I'm glad I could make a puzzle game to your liking!! Thank you for the feedback

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T21:05:55Z

@exopunk Thanks! Making the save/reset feature a little more clear to the player is the biggest think I would change given more time, as I see it as the unique selling point of the ghost-type puzzlers I've seen.

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T21:07:49Z

@duke Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely a programmer primarily, so a 3 day art deadline is gonna be rough

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T21:08:13Z

@tricky-fat-cat Thank you for playing!!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T21:09:07Z

@etrealjunior Thank you! I've always loved top down games, so I'm glad I could use it to do puzzle games justice

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-07T21:09:50Z

@oillen Thanks! Will definitely be receiving many layers of polish if it turns into a long-term project!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-08T16:33:08Z

@arad-hamidsamiee Thanks! The atmospheric story telling was something I really focused on, even with the time constraint :)

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-08T16:33:35Z

@samdemaine Thank you, will definitely check out your game!!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-08T16:35:10Z

@grizzliusmaximus Thanks! making the save/reset system more defined and understood is definitely priority number one if chroma clones becomes a full time project!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-08T20:21:25Z

@sollu Thanks! Glad you liked it :)

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-09T04:56:27Z

@budaniel Thanks! This is my first puzzle game, and I'm glad I managed to make some good puzzles!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-09T04:59:11Z

@piscythe Thanks for the feedback! I definitely had a bunch of ideas for how to make better puzzles, but didn't want to fall into the trap of "would be nices", believe me, if a full version gets made, there will be plenty more better puzzles to go around!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-09T11:13:40Z

@andre-sadie Thanks! I tried to implement timing with the shootable switches, as well as certain aspects of level design, but felt the need to not be too hard on the players in asking them to time things exactly right, a full release would include a much shallow difficulty curve that would reach a higher peak, thanks for the feedback!!!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-10T04:36:49Z

Thank you for such detailed feedback! I will be sure to check out your game!

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-18T12:10:46Z

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-27T13:14:46Z

@cursedembassy Thanks! Glad you had fun :)

Link the Fire by MeowMeowLitClub 2020-10-08T22:09:09Z

Loved the look of this game, it worked well with the music to create a great atmosphere, good job!

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-07T09:52:08Z

The hand drawn style looks really nice! Great Jam entry!!

Looped Fellas by BukkakeTears 2020-10-06T20:18:00Z

Incredible art style, can't believe this is a compo game! Only thing I would suggest, is making the cyan trigger be bigger than just the edge of the wheel, as when the people or the puff of smoke get in the way, it's really easy to miss your next click, which can be a tad jarring to the flow, other than that, a very well execute product. Good Job!

Space Drummer by Guilloteam 2020-10-06T20:00:55Z

Always good to see a rhythm game that doesn't skimp on graphics, this game looks, sounds, and feels incredible, and leaves me wanted to experiment with drum patterns to unlock optimal strats. :)

Stuck in a Timeloop by Stefan B. 2020-10-06T17:04:05Z

Super pretty game, and I'm obviously a big fan of ghost loops hahah

Looponaut by exopunk 2020-10-07T14:19:28Z

Having the player grow stronger and stronger after each loop is a great mechanic, Great Job!

Mike.cpp by shan.hsgames 2020-10-08T21:54:51Z

Great aesthetic choice, and a very unique combat mechanic!

Slime Panic by AlariannGames 2020-10-07T21:21:47Z

Super cute art style! I also love the idea of setting an infini-runner around a single constant loop, super unique!!

iLoop - the 2D endless runner game of a robot stuck in a loop :) by melvinng 2020-10-06T16:30:41Z

Super cute graphics, and a relaxing loop that suits the theme of working an eternal job. Great first jam game!
