Wow, it's really nice.
Thank you @adriankrawczyk !
congratulations on your first gamejam. this was my first too and am happy to provide feedback and rate.
@kp-gamedev Thanks! Congrats on yours as well :)
nice game!
Nice game! It took me a bit to undestand what i had to do but after i did it was a lot of fun. I loved the animations
@asemic thank you so much! Appreciate the feedback
Great concept, and I haven't even figured out the puzzle. Maybe I just enjoy looting dead friends in the dark? Something to add would be another kill animation, probably the thing attacking from behind. Great horror mood, lights in a pattern is definitely new to me. Sounds effects are great. Nice work. I can tell you have the hang of creating tension already, and that will take you far!
@locopelli1 wow thank you so much!
really awesome vibe here. When the lights go out for the first time and you hear the growl, I was scared lol. I wasn't sure entirely what the goal was? I looted everyone, and got the flamethrower. I pulled the lever in the far left room and trapped the beast in the room to the right, but then couldn't get inside to fight it. Maybe I did things out of order? Anyway, I played it a while. Some creepy music could have been nice to enhance the mood too. Congrats on your entry!
Really nice game! Love the atmosphere
Nice graphics. Really liked it. It's very atmospheric
Very good job, love the visuals
Mood is great, audio is perfect. Lightning loop is great! I looted the flamethrower and could kill the beast. Oh and the first time i died they showed me cutscene. Really cool :D
Great job at setting the scene of a scary space death, won't be hopping on any spaceships anytime soon!
very nice mood! good job dude !
Really interesting use of the theme - good work
This was an awesome gameplay experience! The level is simple, it's clean and the presence of the space hound gives just enough of an aura of danger to watch where you're going.
I'm a sucker for 3D graphics, so this game gets a win for that in my book. The spaceman looked cool, the level design and decoration was well made, the only things that didn't seem to work right was the flamethrower and its particle effect. Occasionally either one or both wouldn't render/show during gameplay. Made it hard to tell if I hit the beast or not until it ran away.
The sound design was simple but effective in establishing the terror of knowing your light is going out and the beast is still somewhere in there. Made me get cautious some times by only walking or standing still when I saw it in a room nearby. In the small room in the upper right it still seemed to get me no matter where I stood. Guess I couldn't hide from it well in there.
The second victory condition was not wholly clear; I thought I found airlock switches at times, but couldn't seem to activate them when nearby. Maybe they were the wrong object...
One way or another, this was an awesome little experience and another great submission in LD47!
The visuals, animation, and audio here are stellar (har har). I really appreciate the little victory/fail state animations on the ending screen. I do wish there was a little more ambience to the audio, though.
My biggest complaint is probably the fact that it seemed like you can't pull airlock switches once you have a flamethrower. I haven't really investigated if this is intentional or a bug.
I also got the flamethrower to pick up as an invisible object once, not sure how it happened.
I liked the beast AI and how you can successfully outrun it depending on how you approach the environments, and I once accidentally doomed myself by pulling the airlock helm switch and getting cornered right where the doors seal off.
I do have one major bug report, however. Your game is launching SteamVR when I boot it up on my system. This is a default behavior to my knowledge and a gripe I have with a lot of Unreal Engine 4 games. If possible, a patch to remove SteamVR functionality would be greatly appreciated.
Good work!
This was a cool little survival experience, atmosphere was great, the lights going out and audio really fits well. Good entry.
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Very cool! The mood was handled perfectly and I was actually scared on my first time around. I did feel a bit bewildered with what to do initially, but after dying once i found the flamethrower and that made things cleared. Art and sounds are great! Good job!
@anchorlight Thank you for pointing out the SteamVR issue! We've patched the game to remove that plugin, so it shouldn't be an issue anymore.
I loved the 3d graphics! There are not that many 3d game on this jam so bonus points for ya!
Finally found another Unreal dev around here! I love the mood and the graphics. Is it all blueprints?
@thiago-nascimento Nope! Most of the AI is done via Unreal's AI perception system, which we hook into in both c++ and blueprints. All player controls are c++ (with final BPs set up for design configs, like run speed, reload time etc.)
Impressive scope, creepy, challenging. Looks great too.
Nice game!
Was not expecting cut scenes like that in a game jam. Only thing I can think to improve would be making the character turn towards the mouse since it was weird to point the character in the right direction when I could see my mouse on the screen.
An effective horror game in a gamejam?! Really suspenseful experience. I would make the flamethrower aim at the mouse though. An it could light up the surroundings as well. I didn't really now which pattern the hound was following but that added to the horror feeling nowing it could be anywhere. I'm really impressed with the leveldesign and the graphics. Both added great to the mood.
Agree with most sentiments above - it did what I think it aimed to and creeped me the hell out. That's a hard thing to achieve even with enough time and budget, so quite impressive given the limitation of at least one of those! Great work. The only immediate improvements that would come to my mind would be to 1) make it so that the weapon aim follows the cursor (while running is handled as it is) and 2) make the flamethrower ammo use up smoother as it confused me at first how it wasn't shooting while holding mouse down but rather in increments post click (or i bugged the game out somehow:D).
Oh and LOVED the win/lose animations/cutscenes. Very nice style.
Nice work! The audio was a nice touch as well. Pretty spooky overall and was very surprised to see some mini cutscenes!
Looks great! Sound effects are on point, they help create a scary atmosphere.
Nice concept for a game, I would have liked to see more uses for the mini map and for other things to interact with other than searching the bodies. The creature also got bugged out for me and wouldn't move around, attack or was able to be damaged.
I wasn't able to damage the creature due to some reason, but the concept looks very cool overall! Great work for a jam, would love to play some more when and if you take it further
That is a very nice concept and a pretty alright execution. Enjoyed that!
All this in 72h? whoa! I hate scary games and this was a pretty scary :D So you did a good job. I can see it with some changes on a full game
Nice graphics and sound. I could not figure this one out or find the flamethrower though
