LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Multitasking by FelixMcFelix 2020-10-21T22:50:43Z

This game was a fun little time! The art was a neat style, the 8 bit music complimented the game well, and the looping theme was included nicely with the reset mechanic.

I was confused at the last level at first, but I realized my pathing mattered since it seemed to cause my previous clones to change direction if they couldn't proceed in their intended one.

Either way, a simple but fun experience!

Lights Out on Pluto by cad 2020-10-06T22:44:17Z

This was an awesome gameplay experience! The level is simple, it's clean and the presence of the space hound gives just enough of an aura of danger to watch where you're going.

I'm a sucker for 3D graphics, so this game gets a win for that in my book. The spaceman looked cool, the level design and decoration was well made, the only things that didn't seem to work right was the flamethrower and its particle effect. Occasionally either one or both wouldn't render/show during gameplay. Made it hard to tell if I hit the beast or not until it ran away.

The sound design was simple but effective in establishing the terror of knowing your light is going out and the beast is still somewhere in there. Made me get cautious some times by only walking or standing still when I saw it in a room nearby. In the small room in the upper right it still seemed to get me no matter where I stood. Guess I couldn't hide from it well in there.

The second victory condition was not wholly clear; I thought I found airlock switches at times, but couldn't seem to activate them when nearby. Maybe they were the wrong object...

One way or another, this was an awesome little experience and another great submission in LD47!

Mind the Gap by coderTrevor 2020-10-21T23:06:45Z

A fun experience to be sure! The graphics and movement were neat and the story was pretty interesting.

As a solo dev with a short time constraint, this was a stylish, funky and fun adventure! The drone was definitely a surprising part, it's an exciting mix of mini-game and point-and-click adventure!

I'm curious to see where the story will go and how the monkey will save the train from the loop or loopy engineer! You did a great job and I hope you continue your work!

INCORPORATION CORP. by Kilian BAPTENDIER 2020-10-06T18:52:04Z

Had a blast playing this game! The mechanic of using infinitely boomeranging objects as weapons was a creative interpretation of the theme. The office setting was well made and the visual effects were indicative without being too invasive on the screen.

The music was catchy, but the intro to the game overlayed it and was a little loud at the beginning.

Also, some of the item graphics/models either didn't load when I tried to use the object as a boomerang or just dropped from seemingly no where. Some enemies would spawn near me or on top of the object that killed them when they died instead of where they stood. There were also some moments where enemies would continuously spawn. IDK if that was intentional or if I ran into the same spawn trigger multiple times.

This game was an awesome and fun experience either way! A bit of debugging here, maybe some more stories from other office workers (perhaps trying to save their turned colleagues) there and this game could be even better!

Gonna be honest, I got stumped for a bit at the second puzzle, figured out all of them after a few minutes though.

Simple concept, but the controls were well made and obstacles could be easily discovered. The music was also well designed. Kept me in the "big brain" mood even when I felt stumped. Definitely worked well in keeping my interest even if I was stuck on a level.

A fun game with great potential for growth! A few more unique pieces and some more levels or "areas" are some things that immediately come to mind that I believe could improve the game! Awesome submission!

Into the Iron Mist by Griddolini 2020-10-21T22:31:33Z

I'm still smiling after finally reaching the objective!

What a rollercoaster of an entry! The 3D models and weapons were uniquely designed and seeing the gameplay from the perspective of inside your mech made for amazing immersion!

The parts selection mechanic was well done and gave an awesome diversity to completing the objective. I made it to the orb using light wheels and a heavy chassis with only 2 HP left; that made for a tense but rewarding ending.

The map design was varied enough to where I could "speed-jump" up hills in a pinch and position myself to be in cover from most enemies I encountered. They were definitely a formidable threat in my run to the objective.

I could never really gauge my distance from the objective, so I had to just run and pray more than half the time after I salvaged a good loadout. That's my only gripe, but the mystery and suspense definitely added to the experience.

I'm a sucker for Sci-fi, robots, and 3D graphics, so this game gets high marks across the board from me! It was a wonderful time! I'd definitely play the next iterations of this game going forward!

Subject to Change by boxcar012 2020-10-22T00:47:24Z

This title caught my attention. It has a fun premise and a cool setting in the lab.

It was unclear where most interactable objects or points of interest were in the game. And The three power switches and potted plant room didn't seem to have much relevance.

One of the rooms had glitched doors, so I couldn't even enter it (which is where I think the 4th keycard would have been) and it was unclear the red and green plants were enemies until I got chomped by them once. Also, the plant room didn't seem to have any object of interest as far as I could gather.

I never got past those sealed doors at the end of the second room; likely because of the missing card.

Overall, the art for the tiling was interesting and the game concept is something that can be further explored. There is some room for improvement.

Loop Cure by pedrocoden 2020-10-21T21:03:58Z

A simple but atmospheric game. The tutorial was a useful inclusion to teach the controls quickly. The game music set the mood relatively well, the sound effects and main menu audio seemed a bit loud though. I also had difficulty collecting the red items initially because the player didn't land on top of the waypoint marker; just a short stop in front of it. The lack of shadows or depth of the red objects to show where they were on the map made gameplay slightly more challenging as well. Overall, it was a fun experience.

LABLOOP by causalpigeon 2020-10-06T21:48:26Z

This was a fun little puzzle game! I like the design of the little turrets. Robotics and Machinery aesthetics especially intrigue me, The concept of the game is pretty solid! Stationary turrets, buttons, walls and triggers were easy to use and challenging during a few levels.

The music was alright, but the turret shot noise was a bit too loud and seemed a bit long. Maybe balancing that audio or trying a different sound for the effect could enhance your game.

A solid game overall!

BULLET TIME by cakts 2020-10-22T04:30:30Z

This was an awesome game!

Smooth and simple controls, neat graphics, atmospheric lighting and immersive sounds!

The premise is clean and well implemented, the mechanics are introduced simply and quickly, and the gameplay offers a good deal of tension and prompts quick problem solving skills.

I had a blast walking through the level and timing my moves to get the intel and make it back to the elevator.

The cost of operating the time loop gadget was a funny touch at the end too. All in all, a solid game!

Clockstop Jane by inanimatecarbonrod 2020-10-22T00:05:16Z

This game had many familiar mechanics and some twists that gave it additional entertainment value.

It was fun to see how levels played out depending on your previous movement! An awesome and challenging mechanic to implement, I'm sure.

I was confused at the timing level with the barrel, I didn't figure out that if you manipulated it in one loop, you couldn't manipulate it on others even if the manipulating loop ended.

The dog bot was also a fun and interesting fight since it wasn't affected by the time loop.

All in all, it was a challenging and fun experience full of discovery! Excellent work!

Retro Loop by Minos_L2b 2020-10-06T21:26:06Z

For a first game as a solo dev, this is honestly a cool submission! A bit unusual to have the left movement bound to Q, but I managed to work with it.

The "rolling marble" feel was well made, and even though the controls were lightly weighted, I had fun getting creative and using the walls to act as a ricochet to move around. The 3rd and 5th levels were most difficult, they kept me there a good few minutes getting my positioning just right.

The mono-colored white walls were a bit disorienting since I had no frame of reference for how long the loop was, but I was still able to clear all the levels, whether by dumb luck random actions or timed movement.

Either way, if you wanted to invest more time into refining the mechanics or adding new levels with focus on different gameplay elements (like that inverse gravity mechanic on the 4th level) I think that would make the game better than it is already! Great work!

LooperJumper by kidbiti 2020-10-06T22:00:11Z

A fun design concept with challenging gameplay.

The instructions were a little unclear and the teleport number I didn't understand for a bit. After the first few levels I figured it out though.

Other than that, it's a simple and neat game with a unique art style. The audio was alright with the tap effect for the scientist, but perhaps a victory noise or some ambient music may enhance the experience.

The Impossible Room by RainyDay2800 2020-10-22T02:44:14Z

A curious and confusing little title. It took me a minute to realize that this was a perspective based game when I opened the door and turned around to see myself.

After that, the game was relatively simple, just analyze where a projectile goes in the world and align your character to it at the right time.

This is definitely one of the most unique takes on the loop theme that I've seen so far. It was a bit trippy, but a blast to play. It put a smile on my face.

Great entry! I'll be curious to see how you expand upon it.
