Fantastic visuals and audio, and thrilling gameplay. Not super original (obviously) but it was definitely an enjoyable time. Even managed to grab myself a somewhat respectable position on the leaderboard
This game is ***way*** too dark. Practically impossible to play unfortunately :/
Follows the theme really well :p Overall, not much to do, but whats there is nice and polished. I liked the use of the megascans assets. Also, if I walked backwards I could clip out of bounds, so if you plan to go further with this that is worth noting. Good job
A little confusing at times, and the voice acting was maybe a tad much, but otherwise really well done!
The fact that this was written in assembly is might impressive. Honestly, really good job! The game seriously feels like it could have been published on the original NES.
This is absolutely brilliant, best interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. Excellent job
Honestly, the game was excellent in almost every regard. But I gotta say my favourite part was definitely the sound, god it is orgasmic~
Interesting game! The one thing I had some problem with was the movement, but otherwise a good experience!
Short, but gameplay is fun and the visual style (and sound) is also pretty nice. My only complaint is the controls and camera system, other than that, good job
AMAZING concept, and fantastically polished results! I am especially fond of the visual style of it (feels very no mans sky-like). Also, the audio is really good.
Not quite sure how related to theme it is, but the physics engine is orgasmic~
@watermelonandme Thanks! Yeah, gameplay could definitely use some work but I actually missed the original start and so I only had one day to actually completely the game :(
@piers Thanks so much!
@will-isaacson Did you make sure to configure your OpenCL device properly? After actually typing the resolution, you still need to input some extra stuff into the console. If you are unable to alt-tab from the white window you can try just the following: Width Height Mode (i:e what you added now) 0 0 This should work (most of the time)
@will-isaacson Yeah, I honestly would have liked some better audio but I didn't really have much time to look, so I kind of just had to make do with what I could find. For my next LD entry I'm probably going to reserve a bit more time to finding proper audio. But my primary focus really was on the visuals, so.
@kaonnull Thank you! I'm very happy people seem to be overall pleased with the visuals, because that is what I focused the most on. Gameplay wise I would have loved to do more, but I actually missed the fact that the jam had started so I started on sunday at ~8pm, so I didn't have much time to make anything fun. Hopefully it was still a decently good experience!
@tort60091 Yeah, I would have loved to have the corridors be more detailed, but I didn't really have the time to. Mostly because my focus was to make something hyperrealistic first, detailed second, which meant I had a very high standard in how everything had to be laid-out, it had to feel like a real space station, which is also why there were corridors in the first place. Thanks for the feedback!
@aless Thanks so much! Hopefully at some point (maybe even for next LD, who knows?) I will make this into something much nicer to play. The engine is at least mostly finalized now so thats great.
@eugenik Thank you!
I can't even begin to explain how much this blew my fucking mind. My jaw literally hit the floor once I understood what was going on. Once of the coolest games I've played so far for the jam. Honestly have no complaints, I'm still shook by just how fucking cool this is.
Wow, was actually much harder than I expected! Still, overall really nice game
Can be a bit confusing at times, but the visual style is excellent. :ok_hand:
Love the sound! Albeit, not super sure how well it follows the theme. Anyway, still a really nice game!
God honestly, I have no idea what this game is about cuz I spent the vast majority of my time just trying to clip through the bounds and speedrun going from the first to last room. Honestly though, doing that was really entertaining!
Hard as balls, but still very fun!
Love the visuals! Especially the god rays creeping through the windows, really adds to the overall mood!
It fits the theme, and the visuals are pretty cool, but the controls are just way too complicated and it was really hard to understand what was going on. Otherwise, good job
Love the visual style, for some reason it feels very cute. Gameplay was pretty fun, and the length was very good (It didn't overstate its welcome but it also wasn't too long). The one thing I was was that you could dash when in mid air. But otherwise, great job
Very short, and could not find any level were you holding 'A' didn't work, but the sound and visuals were both excellent, so good job
God I really love how the bodies explode when you shoot them, gorefests are always nice to look at. The only thing I would have liked is for the "paradise" area to be more interesting to look at, otherwise good job
Amazing job, nothing else to say. LOVE LOVE LOVE the sound. I don't know what magic you used to make this in 72 hours, but my god is it good.
Hey, itch link is busted.
@piers Yup, works fine now! Nice game, albeit the puzzles became a bit confusing at times. :)
Loved this! Really clever stuff you got going. I especially liked the overly happy piano tune as I was destroying humanity by putting the box in the wrong hole.
The explanation made it much easier to play, and once I read that, it was pretty cool! Also, love the atmosphere!
God the intro is fucking fantastic. First time I've rated a game 5/5 in humor for this jam. Great job!
links dead :(
Graphics and sound are really good. Good job for a first jam entry!
Even if its pretty short, everything that is here is simply fantastic the atmosphere is amazing as well! I only wish there were some more distinctly horror elements. Had to use internet explorer to download the game however, heh.
I strongly disagree with 147, like very very strongly. Also that shark man, makes me jealous!!!
Hilarious game, bloody well done!!
Hilarious game! Love that you even have a fully functioning minigame on this computer, there was no real reason to really but the fact that there is just makes it feel much more authentic. Also captures the frustration of a slow computer really well!
Lovely sound effects, and the core concept is strong! Just like all the other comments have said, some feedback that the water does something would be nice. I would also like to have some more control over it (maybe instead of just firing in one of four directions, have a seperate water gun that you control with your arrow keys, allowing for any possible direction?) PS: You may want to set a cover image, you probably will get more attention that way :)
Amazing voice acting! Love the subtle physics from the beers being stacked as well. It took a fair free tries near the end but it was totally worth it!
Outstanding graphics & visual style, it feels incredibly polished (especially for a ludum dare game!) The audio and music were also simply brilliant! The take on the theme (entropy being the inevitable unstability) was also really refreshing. In general, great job!
I'll be honest, I was really scratching my head at the start there "how the hell did they make this in the span of ludum dare?" I've never felt like more of a fool :joy:
Spectacular stuff! Love the idea, and the execution is brilliant.
Was there anything in particular that was tricky about the launch? I've been concerned about potential missing DLLs, if that's the case please let me know.
@reronin Quick note: you can insta-escape in the death screen, you dont have to wait for the "press escape" to show up.
@connor-magson Thank you so much! The hiding cursor thing is a bug that I hope to have fixed asap.
@darthboseiju Yeah I realized only after the fact that the audio level on the voice is way too high compared to the rest of the game. Sorry about that! Glad you liked it (i think?)
@v174m1n Yeah in hindsight I probably should have done that, I didn't anticipate the game being as difficult as it is (its really my fault for only playtesting near the very end) Glad you liked the atmosphere and the sounds, those were 2 of the aspects I worked the hardest on!
@binary-systems Thank you for the fantastic feedback. I have decided to include transcripts of the voice recordings in the description of the game now, as they are very crucial for the game (silly me shouldve provided subtitles in game, but oh well). They explain the monsters behaviors (albeit they can be a bit non-clear) as well as providing more general info. The 'clicker' as I call it is also explained in the voice log.
As for the train, there is a lever on one of the sides. No spoilers, but try pulling it!
@saidrog Thank you so much! Yeah, it doesn't follow the theme super well. I was thinking more along the fact that the sun is viewed as such a stable source of life that a world where it has turned against us would be horrible. "Unstable reality" was the idea I had in mind, and I tried to spice it up with some post process effects to make the whole game also look a bit more unstable.
@pikario Thank you so much for the feedback! Yeah, this seems to be a common critique so I will get on fixing that asap.
@blaster391 Thank you! I worked really hard on the engine
@mrchippy Yeah this has been a suggestion by several people I know and honestly it is really tempting to try to fledge the basis here into a more fully fledged horror game one day!
@proxy-games Outlast was a strong inspiration for this game, so it's very nice that inspiration is noticeable! Really happy to see the openness of all the assets is appreciated. I myself also really like tinkering with that stuff, and can get pretty frustrated when assets are hidden in unreadable file formats (or are even encrypted!)
Clamping the camera rotation should be a really quick and easy fix, so I'll make sure to get on fixing this and bundle it in the same release that adds the skipping of the intro voice lines.
@achef122 Thank you so much! Yeah, this is common feedback so I will make sure to fix this.
@cabjhegas Thank you! Honestly I really struggle making funnier games, horror as a genre really clicks with me for some reason.
@ted-marsh I choose not to opt into the audio category because even though I mixed all the sound, I did not create all of it from scratch, so it doesn't feel fair to get rated against games were all audio is created from the ground up. Lovely to hear you found it spooky though, that means I did my job!
@ryusui Haha, i see the game being too scary as only the highest compliment! Awesome to hear you liked the graphics and sound, those were also my favourite parts!
@d3kryption Thank you so much!
@underdog Thank you! Yeah, just like I mentioned in a previous comments, it doesn't fit the theme amazingly well. I was going more for a loose connection to the theme. The sun being such a stable part of human life, it turning against us would surely make life unstable etc etc.
@hobzone Thank you! I'm happy you liked these parts in particular, since those were the ones I worked the hardest on.
@amikatag Yeah, in hindsight at least not forcing the player to re-play the intro after they've died would've made the experience much better - but I didn't playtest it enough to realize just how difficult the game actually is.
@jackiex9527 Hm, how exactly do you mean motion sick? Was there any specific part that induced any form of motion sickness rather than just how the camera behaves?
@praccen Thank you so much! Happy it made you at least slightly spooked. Yeah, I've never really been much of a game engine person, I've always preferred to roll my own stuff.
@iradchenua Hm. Could you not see the enemies? I've had a few reports about this occurring. The console should report any potential misbehaving of the engine, so if there was anything in there that looked out of the ordinary, feel free to let me know and I'll see if its workable!
@intodarkness Thats a shame! I promise though, theres absolutely nothing malicious about the code (in fact I don't even use the standard c++ functions that might trigger antiviruses, like system)
@tomtomgome Thank you so much! I'm sure you'll be able to do it one day, it's really not so bad once you get the hang of it.
@wuppos Haha, feels great it gave you a good spook! Yeah, it seems like a bug - I haven't yet managed to track it down (or even reproduce it for that matter). Hopefully I'll have a patch ready at some point, if you want to; I could notify you if that does occur. (Like I mentioned previously, if the console did log anything worth noting please let me know!) Awesome that you liked the sound effects!
Quite nice atmosphere, albeit I think the AI is a bit too easy to avoid. The sound effects are also great!
Nice to see another game made with a custom engine!
Wow you really do jump like a rabbit! The one complaint I have is that the ghosts are too hard to avoid, it took me several attempts to finish the game. The credits are good fun too!
Wish I could play it, but unfortunately it does not start. Hopefully you guys can sort this out! error.PNG
Fun game, but my god was it difficult!
lemon.PNG
Best god damn lemon ever.
Amazing! Just wish there was some audio, feels like it would compliment the experience really well. Also, you should probably add a cover image, as it will probably make the game much more attractive.
Quite fun idea! The one complaint I have is that the jumping isn't quite as useful as I wanted it to be, I frequently had situations where I simply couldn't avoid the obstacle because the jumping was far too weak.
Simply brilliantly told! It doesn't seem to render perfectly on ultrawide, but other than that it ran without issue.
Fun little game! It's just a shame the best version is locked behind a paywall ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Love the art! The one thing I found is that in most levels (especially level 4 and 5) it was actually easier to just use one of the buttons on the keyboard (left for level 4, right for level 5) - I don't know if this was intentional but I found it slightly amusing.
Amazing!
Lovely concept! Just wish it was a little longer. All of the examples had funny stuff in them as well.
Very difficult, and it took me a level or two before I full understood how the game worked, but my god is it a blast to play. Love how the levels are designed (especially once the cannons and red "thingies" get introduced)!
I learned three things whilst playing this game.
* Holy shit flying a helicopter is difficult * Holy shit landing a helicopter is difficult * I should not be a helicopter pilot.
Great game!
This was fantastic, lovely twist to rock paper scissors!
locked.PNG The final position I got to, I am actually quite proud of that score.
time.PNG
Really fun, loved shooting them darn vampires.
I managed to get to 43m, not sure if its good or not but I was proud of that! the procedural generation doesn't seem to work all the time, I got into "soft-lock" situations more than once. The audio & visuals are great as well!
save_lock.png Example of such a soft-lock situation.
@chesschaser I am aware of the double jump, that height was after two jumps
I do agree with the previous comment that the bully the workers ability might be a bit too overpowered, but otherwise its a really solid execution of a good concept, and it was nice to see a reactor meltdown game were you are actively trying to create the meltdown (instead of preventing it). The text also really does need to be increased in size a bit.
Love the physics! Maybe give some slightly more detailed instructions on what the goal is though, or maybe I am just particularly stupid because it took me a bit to understand what I should do with the (albeit very entertaining) explosions.
Wow that was incredible! Really creative, have not seen anything like this anywhere else in the jam. The one thing I would like to see is some more leniency in the writing, because I made a lot of 1 letter mistakes and having to re-write the entire thing got a bit frustrating.
How you managed to stay organized with this team size is beyond me, I barely managed to keep my team organized and my team was just me  I just wish the game held your hand just a tad more, sometimes it was really difficult to know what to do next. Other than that, you guys did a stellar job!
Fantastic atmosphere! Only (minor) problem is I found the drone to be slightly too loud (when compared to the rest of the game) Other than that, great job!
Really cool to see other games made in C++ with custom engines
I liked this a lot, the CRT shader adds a lot and the intro cinematic is really cool and well made.
Capture.PNG Really proud of my score tbh
Tons of fun! Just wished I didn't have to redo the whole intro bit every time, oh that and the sound effects are **way** too loud! Other than that, great game!
It's hard to describe this game. It's not directly scary, but my god is it unsettling - it feels like playing a fever dream. The art combined with the sound design is extra-ordinary!
Fantastic work, hope to see more of you guys in future jams!
Amazing art!!!
The minigames can get a bit difficult, but seriously, the art is just amazing.
Great job, especially for a first jam! The idea was unique and the sound & visual style was good as well. I wish there was some kind of health bar to indicate how much health you have though
