I had a lot of fun, this is the kind of absurd humor I love. Played a few times and had very different stories, my favorite was the one where I got the wrong guy arrested. Love the programmer art
On another note, I was unable to change my gender, I have no idea why. I saw other submissions playing a man, so it must be a problem on my side.
Very creative boss mechanic. I was unable to pass the first boss. I couldn't figure out if I had to do something beside avoiding the 01010 coming from everywhere. The farthest I made it was the part where the ground starts moving. I don't know if I'm just bad at the game or if it's just hard, but good work either way! The music is really engaging too even if it becomes repetitive fast. The frog made me laugh
Really innovative puzzle game, the art is great, the rules are well explained and easy to understand, well done!
The animation looks incredible, the gameplay is very smooth and satisfying The music adds a nice touch Good job, this is fantastic!
Simple concept but good game, I reached 179 gold before being blocked by a wall of stone. The graphics are quite good! Well done I'm not too sure about the sound design. The sound of destroying block is a bit annoying.
Okay so I was preparing to go to sleep but my boyfriend was in the shower, so I thought "hey I have time for a little jam game"
I had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into
So I start the game, the intro has me cracking up, really, the characters are funny and all and I'm like 'Okay I want to see the ending scene'
Impressive work on all the available interaction, don't know if I found them all, but love the humour.
Then I spent AN HOUR AND A HALF grinding, feeding my best plant, going to sleep, feeding my best plant, going to sleep, and so on, and I finally reach the point of being able to buy the golden carrot, day 46. Maybe I missed something but I didn't find a way to farm faster So I grow the carrot, summon it, check it's fed, and go to sleep Next morning I run to the shop, see that I've gotten 500k from the carrot, and I'm thinking 'Oh great, just one more night and I'll have enough money to pay the debt off', buy premium treats to try them
And then, I go back to my carrot to feed it, and... it's not working. I can't feed it, the dialogue just cancels when I try I try saving, reloading, nothing work I'm like 'okay maybe I can do it with the brocoli, it's going to be a bit long, but I can try. How much money do I need, 750k? How much is one brocoli? 5k? So 150 more days, around 3 hours of farming, yup, no gonna do that'. I was left with save editing as my only option, but of course RPG maker's save are encoded so I spent another half hour figuring out how to edit a save with online tools.
Inside the save file, I found evidences of other endings, something about spending 50years on the farm?!? I'm quite curious about that but I don't think I'll have the time to investigate.
Anyway, I managed to give myself enough money to pay off the debt, and finally got the ending.
It's 2AM, I have to get up to work tomorrow.
Worth it.
I sold back the golden treat and it still wouldn't work haha
Just tried both upper and lower part, same result, the dialogue just disappears
No worries I still managed to finish the game (although it was by cheating)
Here are the save files if it helps (link expires in 24h) https://wormhole.app/dn7YX#mSrVS_zpSu18DPn3mD19MQ
I love it! Couldn't win a single time but I got close Quick feedback on the bugs/issues I found: - The heckler thing is confusing (telling us to say something Dark, I make a joke with something dark and he's still there so I guess I should just save up a card to feed it to him when he asks for it? Or is there another way I didn't get?) - Saw the win condition only by my third play, maybe I missed the tutorial - Number of cards I can draw/flip for each turn felt random (I think it needs an explanation on how it is calculated) - Some times I could not flip cards already in my hand (in the middle of the game, not just the first one) - One of the punchline (can't remember which one) has the wrong voice over (climate change one instead of what's written on the card) - Not sure what to make of the message that I won threee skill cards (did I unlock three new skills that will now appear randomly, or will I have three skill card during my next run?) - Would like to be able to give a face down card to the heckler on the off chance it's what he's asking for (would feel less frustrating than clicking on end turn knowing you've lost)
Very impressive you did so much in so little time
Very impressive! And the number of levels, wow! Doesn't feel like a jam game at all, you could just put the text tutorial in game and release it like that
Good twist from traditionnal platformers I barely passed the first level though, I kept getting stuck against a wall in the second level with no way of moving The art is cute
Fun to play, glad I managed to bring peace on earth
@pkenney Thank you for the kind feedback! Did you get the "good" ending?
@pkenney Haha alright. Yes there is actually another ending kinda like that! Thanks for the answer!
I suck at it Love the graphics, love the details of the ingredient falling out of the box every time you turn I feel like the camera angle prevented to anticipate most of the holes (yes i'm finding excuses to why I suck at this) Nevermind I replayed and jumping often solves this. brave_2023-05-06_14-04-28.png Yay I don't suck at this anymore \o/ Only thing it's missing is sound design
Steering speed is framerate dependant! I was like "Why is it turning so slowly it's so annoying", then I clicked on low graphic settings and suddenly the van was like a spinning top. It needs balancing because after a single round of upgrade it's basically impossible to loose unless you do it on purpose. Love the ideo though, am I stealing babies oO?
Short and fun, spawned just next to the boss at the second try, which made it really easy to finish. I had trouble using the grappling hook, it didn't garapple half the time, there is something I must be missing. Good job on your first game!
I was so confused the first playthrough because I couldn't tell what was AI generated content and what was scripted. Turns out everything but the crate prompts. It generates consistent although absurd situation, which works really well, well done! Never though a pair of ski could help me with my tax audit
Took me five tries to get the good ending Nice platformer, nice world building and narration, love the art, especially the intro. I like that it's clear enough you didn't need to put text into it. The caves are a nightmare to explore, I got lost a lot, but I guess that was the intention. 2023-10-04_00-37-27.png
I had fun, the game is good looking and the gameplay feels really smooth. It took me a while to understand how to move the lantern but I did eventually. It feels like a finished game, impressive work
Hum... wow. I wasn't expecting that when launching the game. Not sure I understood it all, but damn she had some rough moments. Very nice hommage to your grandmother
Gameplay wise, it's not always clear what to do. I especially struggled with the baptism, almost gave up. I still don't understand how I passed it.
I love the art style, and the sound design feels very polish, nice job
I found out I still suck at Tetris. Ran into a bug twice where the piece moved the opposite direction of my input. Also depending on the perspective, the shadows in the background overlap almost perfectly with another column causing me to assume the piece was aligned when it wasn't. Or maybe I'm just making excuses for my lame score  NO I CAN'T DO BETTER, OKAY?!
That said, well done, the game runs smoothly, it's good looking and it's (almost) bug free. ~~Gameplay is too hard~~ :zipper_mouth:
The others got it wrong, first step if obviously to download suspicious folder from suspicious google drive, then unzip suspicious content directly on desktop. Then identify unknown extension as gamemaker project file. Then install gamemaker and run project file. Then run game. Then play. Very easy don't understand why no one got it right.
Now for the actual review, although I did manage to play the game, I'm not sure whether this is the final version or not. Looking at the screenshots, I clearly don't have everything. I don't know my way around game maker so I may have launched the wrong thing. The art is good, but the game did feel very WIP, half the buttons didn't work. Nice idea, would have loved to play the finished game.
The scam popups that spawns at the start of the game had me laughing then panicking when it obviously wouldn't stop and I lost access to the icons. I had a blue screen, then relaunched and won just by running the scan, then somehow ended up in another level and got spammed by hot girls wanting to speak with me. Couldn't find a way to finish this one.
Loved the motivationnal speech on the end screen, good luck in your game making journey, it sounds epic!
Pro tip: You can export your gamemaker project to an exe file, that's what people expect when downloading the game.
Very good game, had a lot of fun with it I ended up mostly moving the king to dodge anything incoming while letting the other slimes deal with the wave, but the idea is very fun. I played in fullscreen and having the king at the bottom of the screen made it very hard to fling him back up (not enough space to drag the mouse down) which made me loose in the end! definitely the best game I've seen so far I also liked the graphic style, especially the title screen Good job
Took me some time to figure out you can feed more than one hot dog to each client so I had a hard time paying rent. Now I'm force feeding them all the hotdogs I have and making tons of money. The landlord keeps increasing the rent though >w<
Had a nice time with this, found the scientist I think (brain on wheels?) but nothing happened, so I guess I won still? My healthbar never went down even when monsters hit me and I'm seeing just now I shouldn't have played the web version so that's probably the issue. Anyway burning zerglings with a flamethrower is super fun!
Loved it Who knew baking powder and a fresh orange could cure a goat flu? Thankfully MicroMedic and its team of top surgeon never lost a patient (I'm sure the one who went on a walk will turn up somewhere soon enough) Had a great time, especially loved the Y (Bleatr) joke Good job, and extra points for using Godot!
@yorsh The game name is part of the joke of hiding a second game behind the first.
The first time you launch the game (assuming you don't have a save file), the main menu is greenish and the title is Mini Beaker (a beaker is some kind of petry dish. As non english speaker we didn't realize most people didn't know the word). Basically it's the title screen for the "lab intro" part of the game, as well as the game we describe in the ludum page. After you see the fake credits, and reach the actual game, the main menu changes to reflect the actual game and actual name.
We probably didn't make it obvious enough as most people don't notice π
Don't go to the deepest depth! There is something truly horrifying down there. It's going to haunt me for years to come... Nice entry, really liked it. The text was kinda hard to read though, maybe it moves too much, not sure. I really enjoyed the references, I'm going to try again and see what that wizard wants with a magic star, brb
Jeez I walked down that starting corridor for a good minute before realizing I wasn't getting any closer to the door... The music was so good I thought you guys were doing a looong intro π I liked what I managed to see, but I'm stuck in the room with four doors, I don't know what to do? Am I supposed to be able to climb that ladder on the side? Because I definitely can't The only thing that bothered me was the music cutting abruptely whenever entering a new room
I am completely unable to picture stuff in my head so this was some sort of hell (no pun intended) for me, but hey I managed to reach the end through trial and error π Would be interested in seeing what the levels looked like after finishing them. And maybe a replay of the path I took to see how stupid I was Nice graphics and concept!
Wow the music and art are perfect! Loved diving through the clouds and see them split. I failed to understand that the cave walls were obstacle when I first reached the underground, I thought they were background elements. I reached hell while diving full speed all along but crashed against a wall a bit after. I'll definitely try it again later since I saw someone mention a fight against a demon, I'm curious
Edit (2min34s later): Nevermind that I tried again right away without using the dive too much and reached the end. Nice boss fight, I almost died at his last laser, I was clicking so franctically so he would die before the next attack haha π
Went down to level 10 and then tried to spawn a wave during the fall to level 11, the game didn't like that at all I accidentally realized you could launch an infinite number of waves by just spamming space. So my map was full of turrets by the end of round 3 Very interesting graphics, and nice sound design, it was fun
I couldn't progress past the room with the white pillar (after grabbing the yellow stars), I kept clipping out of bounds every time the room rotated The game ran at low fps on my computer that may be why You guys went crazy on bloom and post processes, my poor 970 couldn't handle it Maybe rotating the player position relative to the room pivot at the same time as you rotate the room would fix it, but that may not be what you intended with the gameplay Too bad, it really looked interesting, I would have loved to see what came after Nice graphics and mood regardless, loved the cutouts with the angry faces drawn upon them
@devilxrom hey, thanks for giving it a try! Did you try pressing the big green button in front of the screen?
@jcourt @oter Sorry about the bug and thank you for reporting it. We uploaded a new build that hopefully fixes it, if you want to give it another try
@whysguy52 yes, there is a good path, and the map isn't randomly generated so it's weird that you couldn't progress. Can you recall what coord you were stuck at?
Nice game, impressive work on the boss patterns making it possible to anticipate the attacks. Also nice hit feedbacks! It may be just me but there was a noticeable delay between my click and the attack animation (0.5s I'd say) which made it a bit frustrating at times Managed to get him at my first try still, but it was a close call Cool art and sounds!
Nice mood and interesting concept! Impressive you did so much on your own! Couldn't figure out the use of the feather ability and had a bit of trouble to find where to go at first. Also there seem to be a cooldown on the bridge ability (or some other condition to place it that I couldn't figure out) that made it annoying for the last part where you have to use 3 consecutive bridges.
I thought the antivirus popup was a scam since it was asking for a credit card number... Oops
I must be stupid, I can't get past the level with the door (where you introduce the R button). I can't outrun the fish before they go all the way around and close it and I haven't found a way to delay them. Can someone spoil me so I can access the next level? π
@rubatotree I did manage after another few tries, but just barely haha I really loved the game, feels like it has a lot of potential
Loved the sound of crushing monsters, reminded me of Terraria This was hard, didn't manage to bring all 6 boxes to the elevator Fun game though
Nice game, it's rare to see games made it pygame A bit frustrating how hard it is to jump above bullets to dodge, but I suck at platformers so this may be a me problem Would have loved some sound effects, but I guess you didn't have time Boss fight took me two tries, I could only jump on the platform from below the boss, not sure if that was intended
I had an error popup at some point but I closed it and it kept running Here's the trace if you want:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "Main.py", line 437, in
The sounds and graphics give off a scary vibe and the mood is good. I found 4 fragments but couldn't find the others and walking through empty corridors quickly went from scary to tedious when I became confident nothing was going to jump on me. That said, impressive that you did it on your own engine
The game seems very interesting, but I spent a good 30min trying it and not understanding much of what I was doing. It lacks explanation on what is a good combo, what gives more money. Your description mentions "combos like a Pair of corporate secrets or a Full Leak of political corruption", but no explanation on how to do that. I suggest updating your description with more concrete explanation on the gameplay. Your current description while very narrated provides very little in game context, and the game doesn't have a tutorial.
The graphics are very good, and the mood works well. I got a bit annoyed at the sound effects after a while, but it was fun at first.
If you update the description, don't hesitate to ping me, I'd love to give it another shot.
No idea if I won or not seeing as the game is in a language unknown to me. Love the art and the mood though, the clown seemed a little bugged (teleported a bit when I moved).
Couldn't start the second level, I tried twice and the drone just wouldn't move along the path. Love the art for drone and enemies. Nice concept!
Cool concept, liked the twist on the theme Same as others, it crashes after the first level, but relaunching the game gave me a different sentence so I could try it again It's a bit tedious to have to chain a lot of "remove character" to extract each letter to form a new word, I'd have like a way to remove all but first/last as well, or the ability to bump/lower a character value (a -> b or b -> a), so we could experiment with several way to solve it. Still, it was fun :D
I had some fun playing the game, I honestly have no idea how but I managed to get the good ending? I figured the Q1 was binary and for Q2 the third dot is supposed to show the worst of the two first dots. But I genuinely have no clue for Q3 and Q4. Q3 I assume I have to reject combination that are not in the manual, but I can't see the pattern, I've even written them down in a 2D table, I just don't see it. I can guess one of them is tri-tri-tri, and by mirroring, another one is circ-sqr-circ, but I have no clue for tri-circ-X and circ-tri-X For Q4, there is no redacted part and it says to check against the manifest, couldn't figure out what that is. Same for Q1, not sure what I'm supposed to check it against, I checked it against the K-00X, but never got a discrepancy, so I probably didn't understand it either.
I love these kind of games, reminded me of Papers, Please The art was spot on too
I'm a bit confused by the goal of the game or what message it's trying to convey, but that was an interesting experience. The art had an eerie feel to it, makes the whole thing kinda surreal. I had some issues: - I'm on an azerty keyboard, and while WASD was correctly auto remapped to ZQSD, the letters I had to type for the words weren't (had to type "," for "m" for example) - Hitting esc on web player exits the fullscreen so restarting was a bit of a hassle, I suggest using another keybind next time - for some reason the mouse sensitivity after "door" becomes super low and I have to move my mouse a lot more just to turn around
