Hey I saw your post on the main forum page and had to check this game out. A linux build would've been nice given you guys are using unity. But I went the extra mile and played the game under a compatibility layer anyway.
Anyway very cool game. The art was gorgeous and the game play was really fun. Using the mouse felt good for music as it allowed for dodging through really tight gaps. The boss fight with the demon was awesome, that is by far the most impressive animation or piece of art in the game and the music slapped hard.
I did only play for a short time though, I wasn't actually able to beat the boss because the window didn't run in full screen. I dragged my mouse off it while trying to dodge and died. The fight was good though, the attacks were very well choreographed.
Very good job, I might play more of this later to see how close I was to the end and to see more sexy art.
Btw you guys are doing yourselves a disservice. You should rate more games to help put this in front of more people because it's great.
cool art style and music! mechanic was a little simple but i appreciated the escalating difficulty. the game over screen also made me laugh haha
Another Linux user here. I would be happy to play it natively on Linux

Thank you @bravelytyped !
@oxnh @kessel-nebula thank you so much for this nice comment ! the programmer will be looking into the linux version, I don't think we've ever done it so we aren't completely sure how to do it, but will try and focus on that for sure, i'll ping again if we manage to get one up but we will keep that in mind for future game jams at least if we can't !

@oxnh @kessel-nebula we uploaded a linux version ! Awkwardly enough though we don't own any linux version of our own, so if you find them not working we'll probably setup one

Really cool game, loved the art and music. One thing that bugged me a little was in the cave area, the walls/rocks felt more like foreground elements than an actual obstacles, so I kept thinking I could walk through them. Maybe it’s because of the natural rock shapes rather than something more structured, or maybe it’s the color or slight blurriness, i’m not really sure. Still, overall, great game!

@nomus Thanks. The linux build worked fine, and I was able to beat the demon. Love the woah jack end screen. It wasn't very clear that I was able to shoot the demon with spears though. 2025-04-12_12-34_1.png f7d.png

Nice! I love it you are a certified indie game dev some more tweaks and it's an indie game!

Good graphics and audio. Nice presentation and gameplay. A little unforgiving for my tastes, so didn't get too far with it. Sometimes it wasn't clear what was going to be background or collision foreground.
Same as the previous comment, Audio is very nice an set the mood, the graphics are clean, but there is a passageway on the last level that I couldn't pass no matter how long I tried so I ended up giving up. It's a bit too difficult for me :/ But otherwise it pretty cool and clean, didn't found any bugs.

@oxnh Hehe yeah I didn't want to do a full illustration again with the time I had so decided to go more simple and fun, love that frieren refs too !
@aynu Thank you !
@quinn Thank you ! We might change the level design a bit in the coming day and release it as a different version, we had small problems with some foreground midground elements.
@tomtomgome Yeah the last part is a bit tricky, we made it so the path is always the same so people could learn it but it's pretty narrow and pretty far from the start. Thank you for trying anyway :)

Very cool entry! The art is incredible (I love the effect of the clouds dispersing), the sound designis also impeccable (I get really hyped when the music ramps up just as the text says "can you hear the rumble below?" heheh) I wasn't able to get to the end cause I always die at the 3rd level, but I will keep trying later! A suggestion: maybe add a savepoint after each level so we can keep practicing just the parts we're having difficulty with, otherwise it gets a bit too repetititve, sicne the levels are fixed.
Wow the music and art are perfect! Loved diving through the clouds and see them split. I failed to understand that the cave walls were obstacle when I first reached the underground, I thought they were background elements. I reached hell while diving full speed all along but crashed against a wall a bit after. I'll definitely try it again later since I saw someone mention a fight against a demon, I'm curious
Edit (2min34s later): Nevermind that I tried again right away without using the dive too much and reached the end. Nice boss fight, I almost died at his last laser, I was clicking so franctically so he would die before the next attack haha 😅
Sometimes it hard to tell the background and foreground apart, causing me to crash into something I thought wasn't an obstacle. Other than that, it was an enjoyable game.
Very fun and addictive game! I think the absence of save points is great, as playing it safe and resisting the temptation to go fast became harder and harder with each death. And excellent choice to use pipe organ in the music.
As everyone else has said, the art and the music are both very on point! I do wish there was more to the game though. It's very simple, but the inclusion of the final boss was a nice touch. It's almost a variation of bullet hell games, but only dodging and no shooting (except for the boss). If there was no timer, I don't think I would replay the game, BUT I see potential in there being multiple levels with leaderboard times. Also, pretty sure I got world record if that counts for anything, lol.leap of faith time.png

@borabee Thank you ! Yeah we thought about save point but in the end, since we didnt randomly generate we thought it would be cool to make it in a single run, so you can optimize it if you like
@justine-d Nice ! Yeah the diving mechanic is mostly to get a better time hehe, you can easely finish the game by going slow, thank you for playing !
@invisionmusic Thank you I agree, the musicians are goated for this

@jonathan-vinesar Holy that's a crazy time ! My best was 1:39:00, I can't believe you beat me with 5 seconds difference, maybe I click too slowly for the end boss, that's insane, thank you for pushing it to it's limit since it was made for this !

The graphics in this game are wonderful. The transition from sky to underground was very pretty. Great music too. A simple concept executed very well. Great job!
Awesome art and music! Couldn't resist the cool clouds in the beginning :skull:
@Nomus Yeah, I used two hands on the mouse to click faster, lol
So, this game is absolutely beautiful. The hand-drawn/painted art is lush and vibrant, the music is epic, and the way the background and music evolve as you go down is really nuanced and especially impressive for a game jam. The backgrounds were very painterly and had some great depth, and there were I think four whole songs which I barely heard 30 seconds of each! It was varied, but all blended well, and it really places you in the world of the game. I also loved all the little details you threw in - the clouds parting was awesome, and that boss fight!!!
I do think the gameplay was maybe a little basic. When you strip away all the wrapping, it's just avoiding obstacles with your cursor - kind of like a bullet hell with fewer bullets, I guess. It's also pretty unforgiving. Just two hits, with a pretty big hitbox, is tough, but it does add some playtime for sure. One thing I did like was the dash move - it's a cool trade-off between easier gameplay and better times, and adds a lot of replay value. I managed to get ~1:50 my first completion, but I may try it again another time and try to dash a little more. On the subject of controls, while the boss was a great moment with cool attacks, I don't think the spamming to shoot was necessary. It locks good times behind fast clicking ability, and I didn't even realize I could do it at first. I think the boss would work great just with a timer on it.
Overall, this is a really complete experience with some incredible work from all the artists and musicians involved. With a little more depth to the gameplay to match those layered aesthetics, I think it could be even better!

Awesome art! A quick sketch but with a sense of beauty))) The cloud reaction animation is super! I think adding a couple of intermediate frames would make it even better.

Great game! I really liked the art and the color choices. I wish there was some vertical movement, as sometimes you get into situations where you can't avoid damage (starting from level 3 with the demons).
Nice all the different environments! Looked amazing. 2 suggestions: - It was not always clear what was 'background' and what was 'collidable' - I never really needed the dash move, would have been nice if that was really necessary (beside being faster to the end)

Really lovely art and environments, and the music adds a great vibe! Some of the obstacles were a bit hard to read at first—it might help if they stood out more from the background (maybe with an outline?). The music change was a bit sudden and kind of broke the flow, which is a bit of a shame because the atmosphere is great overall. Also, reaching the boss with only one life and having to redo the whole section to try again can be a bit frustrating.
Just a little thought: sometimes, making the player’s experience smoother can be more powerful than adding raw difficulty.

I loved the art and the music, it really set up the mood. Though sometimes it would be hard to tell if something was an obstacle or just foreground/background. I also like the cloud-dispersing animation.

Awesome entry!
Especially the first level without diving was a work of art. Music was perfectly building up perfectly with the gameplay. In the further levels music was nice too, but the first one was really standing out!
scrot_2025-04-13_13-44-06_screenshot.png
I tried linux version but it segfaults when you press RMB. Windows version with WINE worked smooth though.
Very good graphics and music (especially music). First track is a banger, but it cuts off quickly when you change to second area :/
As for the mechanics, idk if it's just my seeing ghosts, but I thought my movement upwards was slower than downwards and to the sides (?). I'm not 100% that's it, but something felt wrong when moving, especially up.
I also think it would work better mechanically, if your character had a smaller hitbox. Bullethell games usually do it in a way, so that the character has a clear small glowing part and only it takes damage. If you made the angel hitbox cover only the eye and made it shine, it would be smoother to play imho.
The clouds were so cool! I think the player should have three lives though, I found it pretty difficult. The final boss was awesome and felt like a legit boss battle. This was really nice

Fun game, my Osu skills finally paid off. The dodging is cool and the falling is both skilled and quick, esp when holding rmb. Nice background visuals, audio tracks are bangin'!

Lovely art, really crisp and nice, although at times its hard to tell which part of the wall would doink me and what we go through, so I got spooked. Game-play was simple yet solid! Great work~

@sam-gorman Thanks a lot for the in-depth feedback! We agree that the gameplay is a bit simple, with more levels and more bullet-hell parts, it would have been better (maybe a next update?). That’s also why we insisted on the speedrun part, it makes it a bit more interesting :).
@ammonit We were really impressed by your art, so I’m sure Nomus is glad to read that!
@byebye Thanks for the feedback, we chose to stick with an endless scrolling game, so no up movements
@flokami Thanks for the advice, I think we didn’t dedicate enough time for testing and got biased by our knowledge of the levels.. hence the difficulty
@simonl gg and thanks for the compliment on the music, I tried to evoke something angelic and dynamic as best as I could
@crescenda Holy crap, 01:40:52 is impressive! We were joking on the fact that Osu! fans will ace it, turned out to be true

Loved the art and music. I wonder if I would have preferred an extra mechanic e.g. having to destroy things rather than dodge them, but it works really well.

OMG i'm such a huge fan of the music pleaaaase can you do a long version of the first one ? I also loved sooo much the boss song where the lazer bim matched so well with it <3 the gameplay is simple but well balanced, the graphism are super cool, no bug ^^

Great graphics, great music. I love the detail where the clouds break apart as you pass. The "levels" are short but there is a definite sense of progression/thematic differentiation between them. I wasn't sure how you'd handle a "final boss" with this kind of gameplay, but the last-minute genre change worked out surprisingly well. (I just wish the devil exploded with a bit more panache than simply breaking apart!)
My only other gripe is that there's no health indicator of any kind that I could see - trial and error taught me quickly that you can take two hits, but it would be nice to have a visual reminder that you've taken damage!
Leap_Of_Faith_2025-04-13_15-06-42.png
Loved ! Nice game guys !!
I really loved how the music shifted with each stage!! It made zooming into the depths even more enjoyable. Still trying to get the clear, but I know I'll get it soon! :>
5/5 stars, wow! The only improvement i can think of is to just use the first track for the entire game. It always cuts to the next track when it gets realllly good :D

Woah!
I really love the art style and music — I’m just speechless.
Being able to fight the boss back at the end was a bit unexpected, but I figured it out soon enough.

@ryusui Thank you so much ! We actually have an indicator it's just that it's a bit sneaky, each wing represent a life kinda, and without wings you fall to your death, that's why we kept it at 2 hehe
@allie-vera thank you ! You'll get it soon I believe !
@anton-florey Yeah the musics are so good ! At first I wasn't sure how to handle the game music, and if I made things a bit more structured I would have made a better use of the skills of both of the musical artists, I'll try to make them shine brighter than the sun next Jam
@dreo Let's gooo sub 2 ! Thank you for playing !

Oh my god what an absolute banger for a soundtrack you have. Made me go slower just to hear more of it haha. The visuals were FANTASTIC, the game over and win screens were hilarious, and the gameplay, although simple, was fun. I would just say that yes, the game is a bit unforgiving, and in the boss fight I felt confused about what I had to do, since the command for firing was not introduced . I was there for a minute or so before I realized I had to shoot him, not just evade his attacks. Cool game overall!!

I dunno how someone got 1:33 because my result is basically holding rmb right from the start without releasing. I guess I was slow in the boss fight but I was spamming lmb as much as I can. Result.jpg Anyway I really liked your game, cool art and soundtrack, feels nice to play. I guess your game my favorite so far :)

Soundtrack's really solid, and the visuals of the clouds parting early on is super cool. Gave it a few goes but my reactions are a bit too slow today to get to the end! Shall try again another time!
An awesome game I've found. Elements of this game were properly crafted, with enough attention to details, and overall, these make the player to feel that this game is a solid implementation of a work that is filled with passion.

Really loved the music in this. I kept trying to beat it which shows how fun it was to play. I like how the clouds explode when you hit them and the different demon types.
I did notice one bug with the game over screen not filling the entire screen. Maybe it's an aspect ratio issue.Screenshot 2025-04-21 122707.png
But otherwise a really fun entry. Well done!
Cool idea and setting with heaven and hell, an angel who has to descend from heaven to the devil's earth, ironic. The graphics are awesome.

A solid game, easy to get a grasp on and not too difficult to master. The soundtrack is stellar, and the fact you've managed to score every section in such a short amount of time is mighty impressive. The visuals are nice, and each zone getting its own unique enemy does not go unappreciated.
However, there is no in-game prompt for what to press in order to attack, and so I ended up dying to the boss the first time that I managed to reach him, unaware of what I was supposed to do. I was a little bit confused, since the game opens with white text telling you what the RMB does, so the lack of further instructions threw me off.
As for the boss, the lava pillars attack could be telegraphed a little sooner. The window to react to it is *very* tight. Still, I had fun getting progressively better at swiftly crossing the level with every attempt. And of course, the memes made it all ever so more worthwhile!
