@bereg Can you please share the exact message you got from chrome ? Thanks!
@ace17 It just says "Virus Detected" in the download window. No further info though.
The sounds and graphics give off a scary vibe and the mood is good. I found 4 fragments but couldn't find the others and walking through empty corridors quickly went from scary to tedious when I became confident nothing was going to jump on me. That said, impressive that you did it on your own engine
I was able to download on Chrome with no problems! Game works great, the mood and atmosphere are great, I really like the ominous music. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it, because some areas were just too dark for me to see the way out - got stuck in between corridors with no light to guide me and couldn't fully navigate by sound alone. The sound from the nodes was helpful when I was close (rising in volume), but not sure if it was fully embedded spatially - I couldn't tell if it was coming from left or right, despite playing on headphones. Overall, great job for a jam and huge kudos for using your own engine!
Woooooooooooooooooo I got all the pieces, took me ages to find the one behind the block.
VERY cool to see another person not using an engine (I have no problem with ppl using engines, but it's cool to see <3)
Nice bloom / normal maps etc.
Very nice audio / athmosphere.
Take all the stars!
Oh also, should probably be resizable, it's very dark, so you don't wanna have the contrast of your desktop brightness. Lucky for me, Alt-Enter worked for fullscreen!
It is hard to find object by hearing. But game looks very nice.I like mood. But hard to play because i don't see anything.
Very good mood. I believe the level is a space station of some sort. I managed to collect 2 fragments and by backtracking I managed to find a sloped tunnel. Idea of navigating by sound is good, but a bit too hardcore. I would add occasional flickering light to help players who are lost (which I experienced multiple times). Kudos on your own engine btw. Great work on the game overall!
was able to play and enjoyed this a lot. The audio really made the atmosphere here. Also, I too got lots of virus notifications when running the game.
Thanks a lot for playing and commenting!
To give some (hopefully reassuring!) context : I work on a GNU/Linux workstation, and the executables in the archives are freshly build. If I rebuild the game executable and immediately upload it to VirusTotal, I actually get 5 detections, although I *know* the file isn't infected. Interestingly, I'm able to get a green analysis (no detections) with some other home-build executables.
My build uses the UPX packer to (slightly) reduce the executable size, which is the trigger for 4 false positives among the 5 ones (if I don't UPX-pack the exe, I only get 1 false positive on VirusTotal). This has been a known issue since 2021 ( https://github.com/upx/upx/issues/437 ), however antivirus vendors seem to have decided that they weren't going to fix this. Moreover, a lot of these virus analysis engines are based on machine learning, which means fuzzy logic, which means : false positives.
To make the matter worse, Microsoft seems to have decided to mark everything that was downloaded with the infamous mark of the web ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_of_the_Web ), which means that even an executable that would raise no detection in VirusTotal ... couldn't not be easily run, because of Microsoft SmartScreen (the thing that prevents you from running the executable, once it's downloaded and extracted ).
The final nail in the coffin seems to be the browsers, which now try to prevent you from downloading archives containing executable files.
If you managed to play my game, despite all of this, kudos!
@designernap OMG you were the lead designer on Alien: Isolation? I actually played (and finished!) this game less than a year ago, and greatly enjoyed it!
@ace17 yep! I sure was :) it's great that you played and enjoyed it but MOST impressive that you completed it!!! Very few people did so that is quite an achievement. Thanks for seeing it through to the end :D the team worked hard on that one so it's great to hear that a lot of what we made got seen.
And yes, I did play through and enjoyed this jam. I ignored the virus warnings!
is kinda dark...
I'm on windows and when I open astraay.exe, I get stuck on the main title with no way to act. It's a shame, the modd seemed incredible and the music of the main title is great.
@tank080001 have you tried pressing 'space' ?
The core concept of navigating a dark station guided by those periodic beeps is genuinely compelling! It creates such a strong sense of tension and discovery, making the hunt for each elusive fragment feel truly rewarding.
It's too dark, I can't see anuthing
Great music that gives the game a intense/scary atmosphere. The visuals is overall fine, perhaps a bit too dark. Not much gameplay. Overall an okay little compo game.
Impressive atmosphere and graphics! I just find it really hard to navigate as it's a bit too dark. Which makes it hard to understand if I am looking at a hallway or total darkness sometimes. Keep up the good work, this is impressive!
Windows deleted the executable when I downloaded it, citing Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.C!ml so I was not able to play it.
I do love me an exploration game! Especially in liminal spaces. Excellent mood, though a few notes: The experience in dark games like this is highly dependent on the display used to play, so a brightness adjustment that allows people to adjust until they can see the corners and such would be good for general accessibility.
Speaking of accessibility, a visible proximity indicator that pings along with the sounds would allow those with hearing impairments to experience the game. [Edit I was kinda imagining a ring indicator for each, sorting closest to furthest.]
It's so cool that you made this using your own engine! Very moody space station atmosphere, perhaps even exceedingly so! I concur with others that it's a bit too dark. A brightness slider or a flashlight would go a long way in improving accessibility. But I was still able to find all 6 fragments!
Fun fact: as I was playing the game, a huge lizard quickly crawled on the other side of my window, which spooked me quite a bit. :lizard:
So, 10/10 for immersion

The mood/atmosphere was great! I'm really impressed you did this all in your own custom engine! I played the linux version, and that being said, there were quite a few graphical artifacts I noticed, and the level was SUPER dark. It seemed like if there was a light in another hallway (through the wall I guess is the best way to describe it?) I could usually see a flickering square around that, maybe a shader issue or something with transparency? IDK the technical aspect, but I could see them :stuck_out_tongue: Also, alt + enter didn't seem to work for me on Pop_OS 22.04 LTS, despite the fact that I actually have alt + enter bound to toggle fullscreen in apps as well. Despite those things, it was a pretty fun little game, just wish I could have seen better because where there WAS light, the graphics inside the space station looked really good! (Although your description says it's a "dark" space station, so maybe it's supposed to be like this lol) Great job!
Dark - efficient - well done. The atmosphere is a little bit too creepy, but this type of exploration game is cool. The realization is great and you impressed me with your own engine - you deserve my respect sir. Thank you for your review about my own game. I wish you the best ++
It's true - on my PC there is a false detection about a virus :/
