Amazing! Just wish there was some audio, feels like it would compliment the experience really well. Also, you should probably add a cover image, as it will probably make the game much more attractive.

robonaut121 2021-10-05 16:52

@uglyswedishfish Yeah, I'm just working on adding images and stuff now! (Adding the third screenshot right now, then I'll do the cover image.) Thanks!

The mechanic of the game is pretty cool. Add some sound and music, the game will be great. Well done!

raphaeltan 2021-10-06 16:49

I really love it! super juicy and very cool concept .u. I'd have liked to know how the ball would shoot beforehand, to prepare my dodging stategy.

duck-reaction 2021-10-06 16:51

Brilliant ! The mechanic is simple but elegant !

I had very good time to play this game. Fx are nice, animations and controls are smooth. The difficulty increase gradualy, so it let time to the player to learn mechanics.

Drawbacks : no sound (this is a bug ?) and the fullscreen doesn't work. With a great audio, it could be an amazing game.

Overall, great entry

ommadawn 2021-10-06 16:52

Nice pixelated art ! Super fast and intense yet simple gameplay

fat-cat 2021-10-06 16:55

Despite using only default assets the amount of effects you added makes the style fit really well and feel polished. I thought some of the projectiles were a bit too fast and hard to dodge, idk how far I got but I didn't win at least.

cooltomten 2021-10-06 16:55

Really fun game, I love the graphical style. The telegraphing of the bullets could be improved on, it's pretty hard to know what to expect when all enemies look the same-.

joaosilva22 2021-10-06 16:57

One of the best games I've played so far, so briliantly executed! As others have said it would have been nice to maybe have different types of balls so you could learn the shooting patterns, but figuring it out based on the first shot was also interesting. Amazing job overall!

aidan-and-seb 2021-10-06 16:58

Rate the pixelated look and colour choices. Gameplay is fun and rapid, gets hard really quick with the mechanics being just forgiving enough to allow for smooth gameplay. Only thing I'd change is I'd lock the middle of the board to the beam, as once it starts to move away from the centre its almost impossible to rebalance. Overall really enjoyed it. Good stuff!

helicule 2021-10-06 17:01

Neat and effective gameplay! I had so much fun trying your game, congrats for making such a great experience in such a few days!

eleeve 2021-10-06 17:02

I really liked the pixelated 3D style! It's a great game.

simonl 2021-10-06 17:06

Awesome concept!

I especially enjoyed the balance aspect. Wouldn't mind if that part would have been explored a little more instead of the bullets. Nevertheless, it was a very nice game.

A bit of music and sound effects would have been really awesome. Especially for this kind of game.

After getting a hang of it, the balancing is actually quite nice. At first I thought it was too hard. The fast projectiles that split in 3 are still almost always an instant kill.

robonaut121 2021-10-06 17:07

@raphaeltan @cooltomten I admit the anticipation / telegraphing is pretty bad, but blue ones are normal, greens are splitters, purple are homers and red are big ones. Also, if you play the game for too long, you might notice that the spawners are predetermined (for example, the top right on round eight will always be splitter spam (which is absolute torture...))

@fat-cat Lol I haven't won too! :-/ I think I got to round 15 / 15 once with insanely good RNG, but I still haven't beaten the game. And I've beaten Jevil and Spamton NEO! (Not sure is that a massive acheivement in bullet-hell games, but whatever.) Anyway, I really should have just left it at 10 rounds...

robonaut121 2021-10-06 17:09

@simonl Balanced? My game? Really? Thanks! (And I originally thought splitters would be easy, but they're my arch-enemy too...)

bqq 2021-10-06 17:11

Nice game, I think having the platform on a flat surface was a really good idea as you have this sort-of stable area in the middle!

robonaut121 2021-10-06 17:15

@bqq I only realised how handy a flat surface was until I played it first myself! Still though, as @aidan-and-seb suggested, I should probably have bound it to the center...

cagibi 2021-10-06 19:14

Cool idea! I agree that the attacks need to be telegraphed a bit, but even without audio the game is pretty juicy and fun to play. Do you plan on making a more complete post-jam version?

alex-chertilin 2021-10-06 20:03

Wonderful concept! I got so much balancing fun

cyber-puffin 2021-10-07 00:04

That was fun, the difficulty curve seems good. I'd say the 1-to-3 splitting bullet is the hardest for me to dodge, but the sequential homing tripped me up a fair bit too.

peachtreeoath 2021-10-07 03:59

Whew that was intense :O

One thing I like about this game that the other balance games don't convey is the whole glass + square peg feel. That plus the general weights and physics made this feel like an actual glass table that was wobbling around. I thought that felt both fantastic, and also something familiar, unlike say a disk on top of a pyramid.

That wobbliness definitely led to some very intense moments, especially with the spread shot that makes you go fairly far away to escape.

On the topic of a different sort of balance, whenever there were 2 shooters and one of them was a split shot, I knew I was done lol. I maybe got past wave 10? I tried to keep count manually but it wasn't easy keeping track of that while playing.

I really liked the concept. It was a very close quarters dodging game with balancing to boot. A totally intense game experience even for bullet hell vets like myself.

robonaut121 2021-10-07 17:19

@cagibi Thanks! Also sorry, I haven't really thought of a post-jam version for this game :-/ I have my main game to work on and other projects to do...

@peachtreeoath I just used Unity's built-in physics ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - I also overrode pretty much everything's position each physics frame to be at a certain point in relation to the board (which was attached to each script) and just let the mass of Unity's rigidbodies handle the rest.

And yeah, I should have made the game mildy beatable...

r3l0ad1 2021-10-07 18:47

Nice game! Its very fun and I love the graphics, the pixel effect is very nice and I like the little glitch animation that plays when a life is lost on the UI. It obviously could have benefitted from audio but I understand that you probably ran out of time. Overall, good work. Im excited to see what you create in the future :)

robonaut121 2021-10-07 18:50

@r3l0ad1 Thanks! :-)

kr0luk 2021-10-14 20:04

Your game look so simply and easily and that's enough, because your game are cool. The only thing, that I recommended: maybe it was worth adding something like a timer or a scoring system to the game

P.s I had a lot of fun from your game, thank you for her

digitaldude555 2021-10-14 20:05

Wow fantastic concept, amazing how something so simple can be so fun to play. Great enemy design especially on the bullet seeking enemy, I was hugging the center of the board til those arrived forced me to change my strategy. The only thing missing is sound, its strange in most games without sound its not a huge deal but I feel your game needed at least a sound effect on getting hit. Over all good job.

dgspitzer 2021-10-14 21:00

Very cool mechanism and also very hard at the same time!

nakami 2021-10-14 21:59

The graphics are so simple but yet it's so smooth and coherent, and that pixelisation shader is nice it really add to it.

The gameplay is good too, various bullets and patterns make it challenging perhaps even a bit hard the first few tries.

In short good job it's a nice entry !

geckoo1337 2021-10-14 22:17

Simple gameplay, but really well done. During the 49th LudumDare, I tested many games more or less like yours - an object has to stay on a platform and many things try to unbalance the plate. Your project is a little bit different because of enemies - and it's a good idea. Bullets FX are great and controls work well as expected. The minimalist aesthetic is pleasant, but I would like to hear something. I had fun playing. You made a solid entry. Thank you ++

gamepopper 2021-10-14 22:46

Wow, bullet hell and a physics surface! This is a great combo! Also like the low res aesthetic you did.

puppetmaster 2021-10-15 16:50

I had a lot of fun playing it, it's a pity that the sound is not there yet.

Congratulations on the contribution.

glaciereclipse 2021-10-15 19:30

Super interesting game. The combination of dodging the bullets and keeping the plane stable is interesting. I wish the game would reward you for progression, at least something minor like how many 'stages' you cleared. Also ramping up the difficulty gradually would be really good and help playability. The art is very nice I really liked it. Solid entry!

robonaut121 2021-10-15 19:34

@kr0luk Yeah, you're right - some sort of progress bar to show how far is left would be nice (yes, the game is beatable, I just made it way too hard :-/)

robonaut121 2021-10-15 19:37

@glaciereclipse Just to let you know, there are 15 waves of 5 seconds each. But yeah, I should have made that visible.

daivyishere 2021-10-17 10:02

Small little game with great potential :) Really fun to play and visual effects are great!
